Tottenham could be offered a chance to sign a striker they missed out on in 2025.
Tottenham Hotspur need to bring in reinforcements in the summer if they want to enjoy a strong 2026/27 season.
Spurs avoided relegation to the Championship by the skin of their teeth on the final day of the season last weekend, by beating Everton 1-0 at home. Plans are already underway to improve Roberto De Zerbi’s squad, with agreements in place to sign Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth and Andy Robertson from Liverpool following the expiration of their contracts next month.
Alongside these two names, the N17 bosses have work to do to bolster their forward department. Dominic Solanke missed hefty chunks of the past campaign with an ankle injury, while Randal Kolo Muani turned out to be a poor loan acquisition from PSG. Richarlison ended the campaign as the top scorer with 11 goals, but it is clear by now that he cannot be relied upon to consistently find the back of the net.
As such, the Lilywhites require a new centre-forward to lead their attack, and it looks like they might have been given an opportunity to land one.
Juventus proposes a Jonathan David-Destiny Udogie swap deal
According to a report from Calciomercato, Juventus are keen on adding Destiny Udogie to their squad this summer and are considering offering Jonathan David in exchange to Tottenham.
Destiny Udogie has been admired by the Juventus bosses since his time in Serie A. The Tottenham left-back remains a player they have monitored over recent seasons and are planning to make a move this year. And to help facilitate a move, they are ready to part ways with Jonathan David.
David has struggled to make an impact for the Old Lady since his arrival on a free transfer from LOSC Lille last summer. When he moved to Juve after five strong seasons in Ligue 1, the Turin giants believed they had secured the services of a top striker capable of making a huge difference to their attack. However, his time in Turin has not gone according to plan, with the Canadian international netting only six times in 35 Serie A appearances.
The report adds that Juventus believe the proposed structure could appeal to Tottenham if they are open to revamping their attacking unit, while Udogie himself may also be fascinated by a return to Serie A, where he started his career.
It is worth noting that before David made the move to Juve, he was wanted by Tottenham since the start of 2025. Thus, if the Hotspur Way chiefs do agree on a swap deal that will see Udogie move to Juventus and David head to North London, it would be understandable.
A move to Juve hasn’t worked out well for the Canadian striker, but it’d be a shame to quickly forget his exploits for Lille that made him one of the dangerous strikers in French football in recent years. A lethal finisher inside the box, David would be an upgrade on Richarlison. He’d fit well into De Zerbi’s system and tactical plans.
That said, it remains to be seen whether Spurs are ready to sanction such a deal if Juventus end up proposing it.
