Tottenham defender Kevin Danso has reflected on his “surreal” trip to former side Lens.
Danso swapped Lens for Tottenham on loan last February, as part of an obligation to buy deal, but he has struggled to become a regular at Spurs.
This season, for instance, the centre-back has started eight of his 13 Premier League games, with captain Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven often preferred in Tottenham’s backline.
Danso is currently out with a toe injury and during his time on the sidelines, the 27-year-old was invited back to Lens on 7 February for their Ligue 1 clash with Rennes.
Now, the former Southampton loanee has reflected on that sojourn away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham star Kevin Danso enjoys ‘amazing’ return to Lens
On Friday night, Danso took to social media to reflect on returning to his old stomping ground last Saturday.
The photos show him walking onto the pitch at Stade Bollaert-Delelis, where he received an excellent ovation after featuring 126 times for the French side.
The ex-FC Augsburg defender, who played for Lens between 2021-2025, got to reconnect with some old teammates, and expressed his pride at being handed this opportunity.
Among the many commenters, Tottenham striker Richarlison called Danso a “legend”, while teammate James Maddison posted the clapping emoji.
Incidentally, while this season may be a frustrating one for Danso, the sacking of Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank may present an opportunity for more game time for the remainder of the campaign under interim boss Igor Tudor.
When will Danso get his chance at Tottenham?
Austria international Danso joined Tottenham last May for £21million, which is not an insubstantial fee by any reckoning.
But he has two sizeable obstacles in his way in his bid to become a first-team regular at Spurs, where he is contracted until 2030.
Skipper Romero and fellow centre-back Van de Ven are Tottenham stalwarts, and usurping them from the starting lineup is no easy task.
Shortly before Frank’s sacking at Tottenham, the Dane said Danso would continue to be out for a number of “weeks” due to his current issue.
That is unfortunate for him as Romero is currently suspended after a reckless red card against Manchester United. The Argentine has been linked with a move away from Spurs, as has Dutchman Van de Ven.
And it seems the only way he can become a Tottenham regular is if one of them leaves – which, in truth, could happen this summer.
Spurs are just above the relegation zone and with European football very unlikely next term, their biggest players could leave – potentially opening the door for Danso.
