Les Ferdinand is convinced the Lewis family have no other choice but to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Igor Tudor’s first game in north London highlighted the mess Tottenham find themselves in with just 11 games remaining in the season.
Appointing a manager without any experience in the Premier League poses its own dangers given the instant improvement needed in N17 to avoid dropping down into the Championship.
Someone with experience in the Spurs dugout is Ferdinand, who worked alongside Tim Sherwood during his spell in the White Hart Lane hot seat.
How many points will Tottenham take from their next four Premier League matches?
Speaking to The Spurs News ahead of Sunday’s trip to Craven Cottage, Ferdinand has shared his thought on the struggles currently being experienced at Tottenham.
Les Ferdinand expects Mauricio Pochettino to return to Tottenham this summer
Ferdinand’s former Spurs boss Sherwood is convinced Tottenham will appoint Pochettino in the summer after the World Cup.
The belief is shared with the former Tottenham striker, who feels the supporters have given the club’s hierarchy very little other choice but to bring Pochettino back.

“From Mauricio’s perspective, from the fans’ perspective, it’s almost like it’s got to be done,” Ferdinand told The Spurs News.
Who is your dream appointment for the next permanent Spurs manager? 🫣
“Whoever goes in as manager, if things start going wrong, the first thing the fans start saying is they want Pochettino back.
“It feels like until he’s given another opportunity to prove himself, this will never rest.”
Pochettino remains under contract as the manager of the United States Men’s National Team ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
Alan Brazil claims Spurs are yet to contact Pochettino amid their ongoing struggles.
However, with fans singing the Argentine’s name once again towards the end of Thomas Frank’s tenure, there remains a feeling of inevitability around his return.
Tudor’s task could not be clearer, with 11 games remaining to keep Tottenham in the Premier League for next season.
What lies after that remains to be seen, but the Croatian has landed at Hotspur Way and had all the right things to say.
“I like what he said in his interview yesterday. He said: ‘This isn’t about tactics now. This is about us coming together as a group and showing some professionalism, showing some grit, fight, determination’,” said Ferdinand.
“They’ve gone left field with someone who’s got no experience in the Premier League, but that could be a good thing.
“I’m sure from a distance, he’s watched it, like most managers and most players, they admire the Premier League, but being involved in it is a totally different thing.”
Ferdinand questions Cristian Romero’s Tottenham leadership
Cristian Romero has come under real scrutiny once again following his sending off against Manchester United earlier in the month.
During Ferdinand’s time in north London, the likes of Teddy Sheringham set the example whilst wearing the captain’s armband.
“I’ve always been involved in teams where I’ve worked with captains who were very vocal, set standards, by the way they spoke,” Ferdinand said.
“With Romero, he’s been one of them that wears his heart on his sleeve, and he’ll go into a tackle, and you think he’ll die for this football club. And then, on the other hand, you think perhaps you’re not the right example for someone to look at how to be.”
