The International side earned a 2-0 win over India.

It has been a good week for Tottenham’s younger contingent on the international stage. While Mason Melia’s senior debut for the Republic of Ireland against Qatar on Thursday evening grabbed the headlines, another Spurs player was quietly making his own mark 24 hours earlier. Tottenham loanee Tyrese Hall earned his first senior start for Jamaica on Wednesday night as the Reggae Boyz beat India 2-0 in the semi-finals of the Unity Cup at The Valley, Charlton Athletic’s home ground in south-east London.

Hall, who only made his senior international debut as a substitute in March during Jamaica’s World Cup play-off defeat to DR Congo in Guadalajara, completed the full 90 minutes in the heart of midfield. The 20-year-old has spent this season on loan at Notts County in League Two, where he made 30 league appearances and scored seven goals, a return that would have done his case for international recognition no harm at all. Jamaica’s head coach Rudolph Speid has built a young squad for this tournament, and Hall fits that philosophy squarely.

The context around Jamaica’s campaign adds a layer to what this tournament means for the squad. They missed out on World Cup qualification after a goalless draw against Curacao on the final day of the regional qualifying stage allowed Curacao to take the automatic spot, then lost the intercontinental play-off final to DR Congo. The Unity Cup, while not a replacement for that pain, offers Speid’s side a chance to win something, and Hall starts in what is now a final against Nigeria at The Valley on Saturday evening.

A loan move that has worked out for Tottenham Hotspur’s Tyrese Hall

Hall signed a five-year contract with Tottenham in the summer of 2024 before heading to Notts County on a season-long loan in August 2025. The loan expires on May 31, after which he returns to Spurs. With Roberto De Zerbi now at the helm and a rebuild underway, Hall will be hoping a strong end to the international window gives him a real chance of making an impression in pre-season.
