Leeds United’s struggling rivals West Ham have given themselves a huge boost in their quest for survival - and data experts Opta have made a big fresh Whites call in their new predicted final Premier League table and points.
Despite last weekend’s 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham began Game Week 23 sat third-bottom, five points behind fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest and eight points adrift of fifth-bottom Leeds.
The Hammers, though, were presented with a chance to make ground by virtue of playing first in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off at home to Sunderland and took full advantage in recording a 3-1 success.
The victory took the Irons just two points behind Forest and now within five points of Leeds who visit Everton on Monday night. Forest, meanwhile, visit Brentford on Sunday afternoon in a 2pm kick-off.
In Saturday’s 3pm kick-offs, bottom-of-the-table Wolves suffered another defeat via a 2-0 reverse at Manchester City whilst a late Harry Wilson strike gave Fulham a 2-1 victory at home to Brighton.
Tottenham Hotspur also looked set for another defeat as they trailed 2-1 at second-bottom Burnley but a late Cristian Romero strike snatched a 2-2 draw.
Nevertheless, the result is another blow for Spurs who sit 13th and only three points ahead of Daniel Farke’s Whites who also have a game in hand.
The picture has changed and data experts Opta have now produced their new predicted final Premier League table and points which features a big Whites call.
