Tottenham are planning to raid West Ham after their relegation from the Premier League.

After a miserable campaign in which Tottenham Hotspur narrowly avoided relegation, the club bosses appear ready to begin a major revamp under Roberto De Zerbi.

Spurs chiefs internally acknowledge that a lack of leadership is one of the several reasons why they came close to relegation, and they intend to fix the issue this summer. This is why they are chasing both Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi.

Robertson and Senesi are soon-to-be free agents, and Tottenham remain frontrunners for the duo’s signatures. It looks like the Lilywhites want to address their defensive problems as a priority, which is understandable after the kind of season they have just concluded. Spurs will also be enticed to raid any of the three clubs that went down from the Premier League, hoping to find value-for-money signings.

Tottenham among several Premier League clubs interested in West Ham right-back

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are among Premier League clubs interested in signing veteran West Ham United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Everton, Fulham and Newcastle United also remain keen on the 28-year-old, who has over 230 appearances in the PL.

In the summer of 2024, Aaron Wan-Bissaka swapped Manchester United for West Ham, where he has played regularly for two seasons. However, after the Hammers’ relegation on the final day of the season, the right-back is among a plethora of first-team players who could be heading for the exit door as the club plans to raise funds to balance their books.

West Ham needs to generate around £150m from player sales to improve the club’s financial situation, with relegation costing them £100m. While Wan-Bissaka still has five years more left on his contract, the Irons are open to accepting offers for around £10m. The report adds that valuation is already being viewed by several Premier League sides as a potentially brilliant market opportunity, given the player’s volumes of top-flight experience and know-how.

Wan-Bissaka would represent a bargain at £10m

Tottenham have a lot of positions in the squad that they are keen to strengthen to get up to the level they aspire to be at. Their interest in Wan-Bissaka makes sense. The squad’s full-back unit needs more spark and versatility.

Wan-Bissaka is still regarded as one of the strongest one-on-one defenders in the Premier League, but he has also managed to work towards the attacking side of his game at West Ham. The DR Congo international chipped in with three assists in 25 Premier League outings this past campaign.

Pedro Porro, Spurs’ first-choice right-back, has been linked with a move to Barcelona. If the Spaniard departs following the club’s lack of European adventure next season, Wan-Bissaka could come in as his replacement. Even though the duo are totally different right-back profiles, having a defensively sound player in Wan-Bissaka could be of huge benefit for the North Londoners.

If De Zerbi truly believes Wan-Bissaka fits his system, signing the West Ham man for around £10m would represent an astute piece of business.
