Tottenham have made an enquiry for a Chelsea forward, with fresh reports naming them as the most serious Premier League contender in the race for his signature.

We reported a few days ago that Tottenham Hotspur had shown interest in signing Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku, in what could be one of the most unexpected moves of the summer window.

It was stated by a Spanish outlet that Tottenham are willing to negotiate a loan deal for Nkunku with Chelsea, including a €45 million (£38m) option to buy the forward.

The report also claimed that this proposal could appeal to Chelsea, who are keen to offload the player after an underwhelming campaign, as they look to recoup part of their investment.

Tottenham push ahead with Christopher Nkunku interest

However, British media outlet TeamTalk refuted those claims, stating that the Spanish outlet is not a “reliable” source and that their report should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Now, fresh reports from Ben Jacobs of GIVEMESPORT support the claims of Tottenham’s interest in the Chelsea forward.

The journalist, in a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), stated that Spurs have enquired about Christopher Nkunku and are the most concrete Premier League option at this moment in time.

He also noted that suggestions linking the Chelsea man with Newcastle United and Liverpool are wide of the mark.

Jacobs wrote: “Christopher Nkunku is expected to leave Chelsea this summer. Bayern made an approach in January and Nkunku was keen.

“Chelsea wanted €60m+ back then with a view to getting more back than they paid. Nkunku would welcome a new Bayern bid, and is also open to staying in the Premier League.

“Understand Spurs have enquired and are the most concrete Premier League suitor currently, but links with Newcastle and Liverpool are wide of the mark.”

Bayern Munich interest and Nkunku’s stance on Premier League stay

Ben Jacobs has also revealed that while Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the Frenchman, they are not alone in their pursuit.

According to his report, Bayern Munich made an approach in January for Nkunku and the Chelsea forward was keen on the move.

However, Chelsea wanted €60m+ (£51m) at the time, hoping to recoup more than what they had initially paid. With no agreement reached between the two sides, it is now being reported that Nkunku would welcome a new bid from Bayern, but is also open to staying in the Premier League.
