Tottenham Hotspur may have an opportunity to land their long-term target, Jacob Ramsey, after a new report shed light on Aston Villa’s plans for the summer transfer window.

It has been over recent days that reinforcing their midfield is one of Tottenham’s priorities during the upcoming transfer window.

One Aston Villa man has been on the radar of the North London side for at least 12 months. Some sources claimed that Jacob Ramsey was keen on a switch to Tottenham last summer after the Lilywhites made a move, but Villa were reluctant to let him leave.

Ahead of the January window, it was reported that Spurs were ready to rival Newcastle and Arsenal for Ramsey, but once again, the midfielder remained at Villa Park.

Tottenham may be handed a golden Jacob Ramsey opportunity

It has now been revealed by talkSPORT that this summer could finally be the time when the versatile Englishman is on his way out of Villa Park.

The report claims that the Midlands club are in a difficult financial position after missing out on Champions League qualification.

In order to comply with PSR, they have to sell some of their prized assets, and one of the players who is expected to be put up for sale is Ramsey.

The outlet asserts that the 24-year-old is valued at £50m, with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Newcastle showing interest in the Villa academy graduate.

Tottenham are wasting precious time this summer

Reports indicate that Daniel Levy is yet to make a final decision on Postecoglou’s future, and one would not expect the Lilywhites to push ahead with major deals unless they have a decision on who their head coach is going to be heading into next season.

However, the transfer window does not wait for them and we have already seen suggestions that Chelsea are on the verge of beating Tottenham to Liam Delap.

If Spurs continue to drag their feet, the likes of Ramsey may also be acquired by their rivals. There is also the question of whether players would be keen on coming to N17 without knowing who is going to be the club’s manager next season.
