Tottenham Hotspur are at risk of falling behind in the race to sign two of their top summer targets, with Newcastle United ready to launch early offers.
It has been widely reported over the last few months that Tottenham have identified Marc Guehi as their top choice to replace Cristian Romero, who has been heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid this summer.
Various sources have confirmed that Tottenham had a £70m offer for Guehi rejected late in the January window, and the North London club are expected to try again this summer.
Some sources over recent weeks have also claimed that Spurs are also turning their attention to Bryan Mbeumo, who has taken his goalscoring exploits to a new level since the departure of Ivan Toney.
Newcastle ready to make offers for Tottenham targets Marc Guehi and Bryan Mbuemo
The Telegraph have now revealed that the Magpies are trying to steal a march on Tottenham Hotspur and other suitors in the race for the Palace and Brentford stars.
The report says that Newcastle are ready to push ahead with their moves, with their opening offers on the way for Guehi and Mbeumo, both of whom feature high on Eddie Howe’s wishlist.
In fact, the outlet spoke to one source internally at St James’ Park, who confirmed that all the groundwork has been done and that the club are ready to enter the negotiating table for the pair.

The source is quoted as saying: “Everything is in place, all the work that has been done on players has been finished and now we have to push the button and get those deals done. We know who we want.”
How much will Guehi and Mbuemo cost this summer?
While Spurs had a £70m offer rejected for the Palace defender in January, the England international is expected to come much cheaper this summer.
Journalist Ben Jacobs claimed two weeks ago that Palace may be prepared to accept £50m for Guehi during the upcoming transfer window, with the former Chelsea man having just a year left on his deal.
