With Spurs still battling to preserve their Premier League status, the club have made a late attempt to spark improvement at home by making changes to the players’ tunnel at their home ground in a bid to inspire better performances, with only Burnley having collected fewer home points than them this season.
Lack of home wins big reason for Tottenham's league troubles
It is approaching one year since Tottenham finally ended their long wait for silverware by beating Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao to lift the Europa League trophy.
It is hard to believe just how dramatically Spurs have declined since that night, with the club now battling to avoid relegation only 12 months later.
Since then, Tottenham have dismissed the manager who delivered that success and moved on from two further head coaches, while their disastrous home form has played a major role in their struggles and their fight to preserve their Premier League status.
The Lilywhites have not won a Premier League game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since a 2-0 victory over Brentford on December 6 and are running out of time to turn things around.
Although Tottenham head into the Chelsea clash unbeaten in their last four league matches, their inability to hold onto leads at home continues to cost them, with both Brighton and Leeds coming from behind in recent weeks to leave N17 with draws.
As part of an effort to try and shift momentum and improve their fortunes at home, the club have made changes around the players’ tunnel area at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Supporters may already have noticed these subtle alterations between Tottenham’s last two home fixtures.
Above the tunnel now sits the phrase ‘All Together Always' painted in gold, a slogan frequently used by captain Cristian Romero across his social media channels.
Alongside the message are new images showing players celebrating with supporters, further reinforcing the club’s attempt to reconnect the squad and fanbase during a difficult period.
The slogan was also displayed across the electronic advertising boards around the stadium ahead of Monday night’s clash against Leeds United.
FGG Says: Tottenham need to act fast to improve their home form and performances before it's too late
Already relegated Burnley are the only side with a worse home record than the current Europa League holders, highlighting an issue Spurs must address if they avoid dropping into the Championship.
The tunnel additions did not inspire Tottenham to end their lengthy wait for a home victory, but recent performances have at least offered some encouragement that a long-overdue win in N17 may not be far away.
