Tottenham want to continue investing in young talent amid Roberto De Zerbi’s squad rebuild.

With the last season eventually ending on a positive note, Tottenham Hotspur have already figured out their blueprint for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Hotspur Way chiefs want to add proven Premier League quality to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad, as evidenced by the club thrashing out verbal agreements with Andy Robertson of Liverpool and Marcos Senesi of Bournemouth.

Along with signing Premier League proven, seasoned and durable campaigners, Spurs want to continue investing in youth. They are expected to stick to their recently adopted young-centric recruitment strategy. The signings of Luka Vuskovic, Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Mason Melia and Souza show how the North Londoners are committed to their cause.

Tottenham among clubs tracking AIK wonderkid

According to a report from The Daily Mail, Tottenham are one of several clubs keeping a close eye on AIK wonderkid Zadok Yohanna. Brighton and Hove Albion are understood to be leading the chase for the teenage winger, who has also been scouted by Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund this past campaign.

Zadok Yohanna only joined AIK from the Ikon Allah academy in Nigeria last summer, and became a sensation in Sweden. While he only managed two goals and as many assists in seven league games, scouts have been particularly impressed by the potential the teenage prodigy demonstrated during AIK’s Swedish Cup campaign earlier this year. Indeed, 32 scouts were watching Yohana in action for AIK against Kalmar FF in April.

The report adds that the Swedish club want a club record sale of around £18-20million for Yohana. Brighton are confident that they can wrap up a deal for the left-winger, but it is not over until it is over, potentially leaving the door open for other suitors to hijack the transfer.

For Tottenham, the appeal is understandable. One of the naturally gifted young African talents, Yohanna possesses the kind of direct, dynamic quality that De Zerbi has always sought in his attacker. A winger who can stretch the opposition defence as well as operate between the lines, receive the ball in tight spaces, and contribute to both goals and creativity fits the profile De Zerbi’s system demands.

And seemingly available for around £18-20million, Spurs can enhance their pool of young talent by getting a bargain deal for the Nigerian. That said, the Lilywhites, having scouted Yohanna earlier this year, must look to hijack Brighton’s move.
