There have certainly been ups and downs in the last 25 years at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

The Mauricio Pochettino era is widely regarded as the best spell in recent memory, with the Argentinian putting together a team of young, hungry talented players.

But while there has not been much success in terms of silverware, there have been plenty of Spurs players who have caught the eye and become heroes in N17.

But who is the best? There have been some absolute superstars to grace both the White Hart Lane and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pitches, from Gareth Bale and Harry Kane to the likes of Teddy Sheringham and club legend Ledley King.

And we want to know who gets your vote for the cream of the crop. You can have your say by picking your top five players in the poll below and we will share the results next week. Remember, pick your five favourites, in no particular order and press submit.

Tottenham's Europa League prize money so far and the additional windfall they can still earn - Football.London
Description

Tottenham's season very much hinges on the Europa League after a year to forget in the Premier League. Currently 14th in the league table and ten points adrift of the top half, the Europa League appears to be the club's only realistic route into European competition for next season.

If Spurs can lift the trophy in Bilbao at the end of May then it would secure them a place in the 2025/26 edition of the Champions League. If not, it will be season without European football for Ange Postecoglou's men unless they can put an incredible run together in the Premier League and other results go their way.

The north London club were previously the bookies' favourites to win the Europa League but Athletic Club and Manchester United have since overtaken them. Tottenham have a quarter-final double-header against Eintracht Frankfurt to look forward to next month, with Lazio or Bodo/Glimt their opponents in the semi-final if they progress past their German opponents.

As ever, there is prize money to be won in the Europa League and Tottenham have already secured a sizeable amount because of their performance in the competition so far. In addition to the £3.64million each club taking part in the 36-team league phase received, teams had the chance to top up their money by earning £379,000 for a league-phase win and £126,000 for a league-phase draw.

Further money is then on offer for how far a club progresses in the competition, with £5.9million to be awarded to each team reaching the final. Whoever triumphs in May's final receives a further £5million on top of their money for making the showpiece finale.

So, ahead of Tottenham's quarter-final tie against Eintracht Frankfurt next month, football.london has taken a look at the club's prize money in the 2024/25 Europa League so far.

Europa League prize money

Winner: £10.95million

Runner-up: £5.9million

Semi-finalists: £3.54million

Quarter-finalists: £2.11million

Round of 16: £1.47million

Reaching knockout round play-off: £250,000

Top-eight finish: £500,000

League-phase wins: £379,000

League-phase draws: £126,000

League-phase defeats: £0

Tottenham's prize money so far

Tottenham secured a total of £2.147million from the newly-formed league phase. Playing a total of eight matches as they looked to seal a place in the knockout phase of the competition, Spurs won five games, drew two and lost just the once in Turkey against Galatasaray.

A total of £1.895million was added to the coffers for five league phase wins, with an additional £252,000 for their two draws bringing the total to £2.147million.

Tottenham 3-0 Qarabag (£379,000)

Ferencvaros 1-2 Tottenham (£379,000)

Tottenham 1-0 AZ (£379,000)

Galatasaray 3-2 Tottenham (£0)

Tottenham 2-2 Roma (£126,000)

Rangers 1-1 Tottenham (£126,000)

Hoffenheim 2-3 Tottenham (£379,000)

Tottenham 3-0 Elfsborg (£379,000)

Total = £2.147million

Spurs then earned a further cash boost of £2.092million after finishing fourth in the league-phase table as each position was worth £63,400. That figure was in addition to the £3.64million just for taking part in the league phase.

A top-eight finish secured another £500,000, with £1.47million added to the kitty for reaching the round of 16 and £2.11million coming in after beating AZ Alkmaar over two legs to secure their place in the quarter-finals. If you crunch the above numbers together and add the £2.147million then it brings about a grand total of £11.959million in prize money so far.

Reaching the league phase: £3.64million

Finishing fourth in the league phase: £2.092million

Top eight: £500,000

Round of 16: £1.47million

Quarter-finals: £2.11million

Total = £9.812million

What can Tottenham still earn?

If Tottenham can get the better of Eintracht Frankfurt over two legs they will receive £3.54million for reaching the semi-finals of the competition. A place in the final nets £5.9million but that figure would increase to £10.95million if Tottenham were to get their hands on the trophy at San Mames Stadium on Wednesday, May 21.

So, there is the possibility that Tottenham can still earn an extra £14.49million in prize money in this season's Europa League. Add that to the £11.959million banked so far and that would total a potential windfall of just shy of £26.5million in prize money.

It may be a small figure in comparison to potential Champions League earnings but it is certainly not something that can be sniffed at.

Description

Lucas Bergvall has been ruled out of Sweden's international friendly against Luxembourg on Saturday through illness. The Tottenham player was absent from training on Wednesday due to cold symptoms and he unfortunately is not in a position to start for Sweden's senior side for the very first time.

After becoming a key part of Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham XI, the teenager's fine form was set to be rewarded with a starting berth by national team boss Jon Dahl Tomasson after coming off the bench in his previous four international appearances. However, illness means his full debut is on hold for now.

Bergvall, providing he recovers in time, may not have too long to wait to start for Sweden, though, as they are due to host Northern Ireland at Strawberry Arena in Stockholm on Tuesday evening. The midfielder and his Sweden teammates have been training in Marbella this week ahead of their friendly but the youngster will not be travelling to Luxembourg with the rest of his colleagues.

Instead, he will return to Stockholm to recover prior to the Northern Ireland game. Bergvall has been replaced by Melker Widell in the squad for Saturday's friendly.

Jonas Werner, Sweden's national team doctor, provided an update on Bergvall's status in a statement on Sweden's official website. He said: "Lucas is not available to play on Saturday. He will go to Sweden to recover, and we will monitor developments. He may be able to rejoin the team before the match against Northern Ireland."

Earlier in the week, Bergvall had spoken to the media and discussed his upcoming first start for Sweden. "It's fun but it's not something I've thought about that much," he confessed.

"Jon and I have talked a little bit but nothing more specific, we'll do it during the days here I think. I'll just play like I did at Tottenham and be able to contribute as much as possible."

If he isn't to feature against Northern Ireland in midweek, Bergvall's next opportunity to start for his country would be against Hungary at the beginning of June.

Ranking Tottenham's best away shirts of the Nike era as new look planned for 2025/26 season - Football.London
Description

Nike's designers are perhaps limited when it comes to creating the perfect Tottenham home kit. After all, there is only so much you can do with a plain white shirt and also because of the fact that a new home jersey is released every 12 months.

Designers certainly have a lot more freedom when it comes to away and third kits. Over the past few years away kits seem to becoming somewhat bolder in comparison to years gone by and Tottenham have certainly had some striking efforts.

The team's away kit from the 2021/22 season is perhaps the perfect example as fans either loved it or absolutely detested it. When it comes to a Tottenham away shirt, a shade of blue appears to be the colour of choice.

Nike do look to be turning in a different direction, though, if leaked images of Tottenham's 2025/26 away kit are anything to go by. The north London club look set to have a black away top for the first time in their partnership with the American sportswear giant and this one features a square tile pattern across the jersey and grey accents.

Tottenham already have five of world football's best wonderkids to form their team of the future - Football.London
Description

All at Tottenham will be hoping that brighter days are ahead after an incredibly frustrating 2024/25 campaign. Going into the season wanting to improve on their fifth-place finish the previous term and move closer to the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal at the summit of the league, Spurs unfortunately find themselves 14th with nine games remaining.

A top-half finish looks set to be an uphill battle considering they trail Bournemouth in 10th by 10 points, but Ange Postecoglou's side can finish the season on a high by winning the Europa League in Bilbao at the end of May. That will not be straightforward and first up they have to negotiate a quarter-final tie against Eintracht Frankfurt to make the final four.

One rare positive Tottenham fans can cling on to from this season is the performances of their youngsters. At a time when senior players maybe haven't stepped up to the mark and produced consistent displays week in, week out, that cannot be said about Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray.

Regular game time in an incredibly tough period has only enhanced their game to another level and now they look right at home in the Premier League despite their tender years. Gray and Bergvall are not the only eye-catching teenagers at Tottenham as the club also possess some exciting talents that point to a very bright future in N17.

Mikey Moore has featured in 16 first-team games for Spurs this campaign after making his senior debut at the end of last season. The 17-year-old has found it tough on a few occasions when he has started in the Premier League, which is totally understandable given his age, but his dazzling showing at home to AZ Alkmaar back in October highlights what a special player Tottenham have on their hands.

Moore may have competition from Yang Min-hyeok for a place on the wing in the years ahead if he is to establish himself as a Tottenham regular. Linking up with the club in January after moving from Gangwon FC in South Korea, the winger is now plying his trade for QPR in the Championship after joining them on loan during the winter market.

The 18-year-old has been in and out of the QPR XI since making the move across the capital but he has displayed in his game time that he is a very talented player. Another youngster who could well go on to make his Tottenham debut during the 2025/26 campaign is Luka Vuskovic.

Spurs moved early to strike a deal with Hajduk Split for the centre-back in September 2023 when he was only 16. Not able to join Tottenham until the age of 18, the Croat will link up with Spurs this summer almost two years on from the initial agreement between both clubs.

Vuskovic has already built up a large amount of first-team experience over the past two seasons and he has made quite the impression in Belgium for Westerlo this term. Not only has he wowed at the back with his defensive displays, his eye for a goal and incredible aerial ability has been there for all to see after contributing seven goals from his centre-back berth.

Vuskovic is seen as one of the brightest young talents coming through in the game and he could well become a permanent member of Tottenham's backline for years to come. Not only are Gray, Bergvall, Moore, Yang and Vuskovic highly thought of at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but many across the globe know just how good they are.

The quintet all feature in Goal's NXGN list of the top 50 best teenage wonderkids in the world in 2025. Perhaps unsurprisingly it is Barcelona's Lamine Yamal who tops the list, with future Chelsea player Estevao Willian and Barcelona's Pau Cubarsi completing the top three.

Gray ranks highest in the top 50 from a Tottenham perspective as he comes in at 13, with Bergvall not too far behind at 17. Moore is then placed at 22, Vuskovic No.26 and Yang No.43.

Amid links with Southampton ace Tyler Dibling, Tottenham could have six players in the top 50 if they are to move for the winger in the summer and lure him to the capital. Dibling is 23rd on the list, one place behind Spurs starlet Moore.

Everyone connected with Tottenham are desperate for the club to be successful in the here and now, which fingers crossed will be the case at the end of May as Postecoglou looks to end their trophy drought for good. If Tottenham can get things right on the pitch then they appear to have a very exciting future ahead of them with Gray, Bergvall, Moore, Vuskovic and Yang at the heart of a team who can hopefully compete for years to come.

Tottenham boss provides striker injury update as centre-back reaches milestone - Football.London
Description

Robert Vilahamn has delivered an update on Tottenham Hotspur Women's captain Bethany England while centre-back Molly Bartrip has reached a century of appearances for the club.

England, 30, has been in good form this season for Spurs with eight goals in 15 Women's Super League matches but missed the recent 1-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion with a quad muscle injury. Vilahamn confirmed after the game that the skipper will be missing a while longer.

"She had a second scan and she will be out for a few weeks," said the Swede. "Hopefully she can come back as quickly as possible and play the last few games.

On her impact on the team, the head coach added: "Her form has been great, her personality and leadership are something you need. She’s a big player and all teams would miss her."

One Tottenham player who did take to the pitch against Brighton and reached a big milestone was Bartrip. The 28-year-old made her 100th appearance for the club and became only the fourth player in the current squad to achieve the feat. Bartrip started off with Spurs at Under-10 level before returning to the senior fold from Reading in 2021 and now she is a established figure at the club.

"I never thought I would have even made any appearances in the WSL at that age, so I just feel really, really lucky," said the centre-back. "I'm proud, obviously, to have been able to even get to near the hundred mark for a club like this, it is an honour. I just want to keep performing as much as I can, helping the people around me, helping the team and hopefully bring more success."

She added: "When I first came, we weren't based at the training ground, now we have our own building and good facilities that will hopefully help us to improve as individuals and as a team.

"Naturally with the league, there's been so many more investments, teams even coming into the league that are at the top level, you're seeing players coming to this league that you’ve probably dreamt of playing against when you were younger.

"Every game that I'm lucky enough to play in, I think ‘I’m playing against some incredible players right now’ and I never thought I'd be able to do that growing up and, if I’m honest, even five or six years ago, so I just honestly feel really, really lucky to be where I'm at."

word injury update after undergoing surgery as Cristian Romero responds

Description

Bryan Gil has stated "everything has turned out great" after undergoing surgery on a knee injury. The Tottenham man is currently with Girona in Spain but it very much appears that he has already played the last game of his loan spell.

Making an immediate mark for Michel Sanchez's team after returning to his homeland in July, Gil contributed with four goals and three assists in 32 games across all competitions prior to going under the knife. His last appearance for Girona came at Espanyol earlier this month as he played 76 minutes of the 1-1 draw, with the winger subsequently missing out on the matchday squad for last weekend's draw at home to his former loan club Valencia.

Speaking to the media after the game, Girona boss Michel opened up on Gil's absence and revealed that knee surgery was a possibility. “Bryan, as I said, has a knee injury and tomorrow he must speak to Dr. Cugat," explained the Spaniard, as reported by Football Espana.

"We will see if an operation is necessary or not. If he has to have surgery, he could miss the entire season. But if not, this Sunday will be the last tests and we will see. Cugat will make the decision with the players. It doesn’t look good, although I think there is still a lack of evidence.”

Amid reports from Spain that Gil had sustained damage to the lateral ligament in his right knee and the meniscus, he has now had surgery to correct the issue. Taking to his Instagram account on Thursday afternoon, the Tottenham player provided an update for his fans. He penned: "Day one. Everything has turned out great. This is just one more step in the long road ahead."

Tottenham duo Cristian Romero and Sergio Reguilon, as well as former Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, were just some of the players to leave messages for Gil. "Come on buddy, you're going to come back stronger than ever. I love you brother," wrote Romero. "Let's go little brother" was the message from Reguilon.

The Spain international will return to Tottenham in the summer but it remains to be seen what his next move will be. A player clearly not in Ange Postecoglou's thinking, Spurs ideally need to part with Gil for good during the summer transfer window as he will enter the final 12 months of his current deal come the start of July.

Gil has made 43 appearances for Tottenham since joining in the summer of 2021, with the attacker featuring for Valencia, Sevilla and Girona on loan during that period.

Lucas Bergvall Sweden training absence explained and why Tottenham shouldn't worry

Lucas Bergvall Sweden training absence explained and why Tottenham shouldn't worry - Football.London
Description

There could now be question marks over Lucas Bergvall's participation in Sweden's friendly against Luxembourg this weekend after missing training on Thursday due to illness. Sweden boss Jon Dahl Tomasson confirmed earlier this week that the midfielder would be handed his first start for the national side on Saturday after excelling for Tottenham in 2025.

That may be in doubt now with the youngster not taking part in training with the rest of his international teammates in Marbella, Spain on Thursday. The last thing Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham want in the first international break of 2025 is to suffer more scares going on how this season has panned out for the team in terms of absent players.

However, in regards to Bergvall, it is not something for the Spurs boss or fans to be too concerned about given the reason for his absence. Speaking to Swedish publication Aftonbladet, Tomasson opened up on Bergvall's current status and revealed that they will check on him on Friday.

"We are one player short today, we will see how he feels tomorrow," explained the former Denmark striker. "He has a cold and is not in top form. Now he had to stay in bed, so we will see how he feels during the day.

"We will have to wait and see how the match goes on Saturday, we cannot decide that now. He could have maybe been a little bit involved today, but there is no reason to take any risks."

Even if Bergvall doesn't start on Saturday when they travel to Luxembourg, there will be another opportunity for the teenager to do so on Tuesday evening when they host Northern Ireland at Strawberry Arena in Stockholm. That match could potentially see Bergvall come up against Tottenham teammate Jamie Donley after the Leyton Orient loanee switched allegiance from England.

Since joining up with his national side, Bergvall has spoken to the media and discussed his upcoming first start for Sweden after previously making four appearances off the bench. He said: "It's fun but it's not something I've thought about that much.

"Jon and I have talked a little bit but nothing more specific, we'll do it during the days here I think. I'll just play like I did at Tottenham and be able to contribute as much as possible."

Tottenham exact final Premier League points tally predicted amid Ange Postecoglou pressure

Tottenham exact final Premier League points tally predicted amid Ange Postecoglou pressure - Football.London
Description

Tottenham Hotspur's final Premier League position has been predicted by a supercomputer.

It has been a disappointing season for Ange Postecoglou's men, riddled with injuries and poor results. They go into the March international break on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Fulham, thanks to goals from Rodrigo Muniz and former Spurs man Ryan Sessegnon.

They currently occupy 14th position in the Premier League, just three points behind Manchester United. Leaving any chance of qualifying for European football borderline impossible - though there remains a very slim chance.

Spurs will have to wait two weeks for their next game, and what a game it is. A London derby with local rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, April 3, when they'll be hoping to get back to winning ways.

Even though Tottenham are still fighting in the Europa League, with a two-legged quarter-final clash against German club Eintracht Frankfurt to come, there is still plenty of football to be played in the English top tier. Nine games remain as pressure intensifies on Postecoglou, and each point could prove significant.

Opta Analyst has attempted to predict exactly how Spurs will finish this season in the Premier League. The site has crunched the numbers and reckons they will remain in 14th until the end of the campaign.

It has been predicted that Spurs will finish with 46 points (46.29) after their 38 matches. This would be enough to finish 14th in the table, behind Manchester United (48.59) in 13th and ahead of West Ham United (45.23) in 15th.

Spurs currently have 34 points on the board after 29 games, so if the prediction is accurate, the North London club will only pick up an additional 12 points. This could be in the shape of three wins, three draws and three defeats.

Harry Redknapp delivers damning Tottenham Hotspur verdict about 'crazy' and 'unreliable' player

Harry Redknapp delivers damning Tottenham Hotspur verdict about 'crazy' and 'unreliable' player - Football.London
Description

Harry Redknapp believes no player from the current Tottenham Hotspur squad would get into the Spurs side when he was manager.

Redknapp took over a Tottenham team from Juande Ramos in late October 2008 that was bottom of the Premier League table and finished 8th that same season, having also reached the League Cup final. That season was the last one in which Tottenham lost 15 league matches, with only nine under Redknapp.

The current team had their 15th loss in the Premier League on Sunday against Fulham at Craven Cottage and still have nine games to go. Perhaps unsurprisingly, then, Redknapp believes the best XI from his time at the club is better one-to-eleven than the current crop.

During an interview with WeAreTottenhamTV , he chose between the past and present players. Heurelho Gomes got the nod over Guglielmo Vicario, as did Vedran Corluka in place instead of Pedro Porro.

Picking between Cristian Romero and Michael Dawson was one Redknapp found difficult, describing the former as "a bit crazy" and "unreliable" who "gets sent off" and "kicks people". He did, though, plump for Romero before later changing his mind.

There was less deliberation over having Ledley King instead of Micky van der Ven. Redknapp was also quick to go for Benoit Assou-Ekotto over Destiny Udogie.

The midfield also picked itself for him, with Scott Parker over Rodrigo Bentancur, Luka Modric ahead of Dejan Kulusevski and Rafael van der Vaart beating out James Maddison. Further forward, Gareth Bale got the nod over Son Heung-Min, as did Aaron Lennon instead of Brennan Johnson and Jermain Defoe in front of Dominic Solanke.

After his final selection, Redknapp said: "Sorry, Michael Dawson; I'm putting Michael Dawson back in; sorry, Michael; Michael's back in; I can't leave him out; I love Michael Dawson. I'm having all my XI; I don't want the other team."
