Morgan Gibbs-White signs new Nottingham Forest contract following Tottenham Hotspur transfer links - 'Special player'

Published 27/07/2025 at 00:05 GMT+1

Morgan Gibbs-White has extended his stay at Nottingham Forest to 2028 by signing a new contract with the Premier League club. The England international midfielder had been heavily linked with a summer transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, but the speculation was put to bed when Forest confirmed a new deal had been signed after their friendly with Fulham on Saturday.

After being heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, Morgan Gibbs-White is set to stay at Nottingham Forest after signing a new contract that runs until 2028.

Spurs chief Daniel Levy had activated the £60 million release clause in Gibbs-White’s contract before Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis got involved and the Midlands club reportedly threatened legal action over Tottenham approaching the player without the club’s permission.

Marinakis has got his way after the club announced the 25-year-old has signed a new contract that is a year longer than his previous deal - and is believed not to include a release clause, according to The Sun.

"I have felt at home at Forest from the moment I arrived," Gibbs-White said in a statement on Nottingham Forest’s website.

"The support from the fans, my team-mates, and everyone around the club has been unbelievable.

"I believe in what we are building here – and with the backing of Mr Marinakis and the enormous ambition he has, I want to be part of making something special. I am excited for what is to come."

As Forest jetted off to Portugal to continue their pre-season, Gibbs-White initially did not join the squad, before flying out later in the week and playing in the second half of their Saturday night friendly with Fulham.

Forest published pictures of Gibbs-White in team kit with Marinakis at the Estadio de Sao Luis, where they played Fulham, as part of the contract announcement.

Gibbs-White looked set to be the fifth senior player signed by Tottenham this transfer window and would have pushed their total spend to almost £200m with Joao Palhinha also a target.

However, Gibbs-White has now committed his future to Forest - and manager Nuno Espirito Santo can now prepare for a European campaign with the England international in his plans.

Having lost Anthony Elanga to Newcastle already this summer, keeping hold of the player who scored seven and assisted 10 goals last season will boost Forest’s chances both domestically and in Europe.

"Morgan is a special player – not just in terms of talent, but character and mentality," Marinakis said. "He represents everything we want this football club to be: he is a winner, talented, ambitious, fearless, and proud.

"There was significant interest from various clubs, but we were determined to build our future with Morgan at the heart of it. I promised our fans we would not only compete, but grow stronger and stronger every season. Today is another big step in that journey."

Tottenham Hotspur want Rodrygo, Bayern Munich close in on Liverpool's Luis Diaz - Euro Transfer News

Published 23/07/2025 at 18:22 GMT+1

Tottenham have joined the race to sign Rodrygo and Luis Diaz is heading for Bayern Munich in today's Euro Transfer News. Elsewhere in the gossip columns, Paris Saint-Germain have ruled out a move for French winger Bradley Barcola and Pau Victor is close to leaving Spanish champions Barcelona. Victor is reportedly on the way to SC Braga after helping Barca win the league last term.

Spurs want Rodrygo

Tottenham have entered the race to sign Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, according to Spanish website AS.

The Brazilian forward is attracting attention from across the continent this summer, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich also supposedly interested.

‘The perfect centre-forward’ - Why Ekitike can be Liverpool’s Isak and the heir to Henry

Rodrygo made 30 La Liga appearances for Los Blancos last term, scoring six goals and registering five assists.

"Where there's room for two, there's room for three," read the article. "And if three fit, there's room for four too.

"As the transfer window ticks down, Rodrygo has more suitors.

"As AS previously reported, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have entered the race for the Brazilian in practically interrelated deals.

"From London, and in addition to the (cold) interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, Tottenham want to capitalise on the situation."

Bayern confident they will land Diaz

German football journalist Christian Falk believes that Bayern Munich will likely win out in their bid to sign Luis Diaz.

The 28-year-old Colombian international is reportedly keen to leave Liverpool, and both Bayern and Barcelona were believed to be keen.

Falk thinks that talks between the clubs will be successfu.

“Bayern Munich are increasingly certain that they will sign Luis Diaz in the end,” the Bundesliga insider exclusively informed CaughtOffside.

“Now, it’s just a question of money between the Bundesliga champions and Liverpool. The Bavarians already had two offers turned away; the first being €52m [£43.3m] and the second being €67.5m [£58.5m].

"But now, Bayern are in negotiations directly with the Reds. They want to find a way to get the deal over the line; they don’t want to have to make another offer, which could be rejected – they’re determined to find a solution."

Victor to move from Barca to Braga

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Pau Victor is about to complete a move from Barcelona to SC Braga.

The Spaniard made 21 appearances for the La Liga champions last term, scoring two goals and producing one assist.

Romano believes that Victor will command a transfer fee in the region of €12m, excluding add-ons.

"SC Braga have agreed deal in principle with Barcelona for Pau Victor," he wrote on X.

"€12m fixed fee plus €3m add-ons.

"Barcelona are also negotiating a buy-back clause as part of the package."

Barcola going nowhere

Florian Plettenberg insists that Paris Saint-Germain will not sell Bradley Barcola this summer.

The French winger found the back of the net 21 times and provided 21 assists in 64 appearances across all competitions last term.

However, he has still been linked with a move to German giants Bayern Munich.

Plettenberg believes Barcola is going nowhere.

"Despite new enquiries, Paris Saint-Germain have once again made it clear internally that Bradley Barcola will not be sold this summer," he posted on X.

"He will stay at PSG.

"New talks are also taking place regarding a possible contract extension beyond 2028.

"Nevertheless, it remains possible that PSG will sign a new top winger in the current transfer window."

Aston Villa line up Emiliano Martinez replacement as Manchester United speculation intensifies, Morgan Gibbs-White set for Spurs - Paper Round

Updated 11/07/2025 at 08:57 GMT+1

Manchester United are still linked with Emiliano Martinez as Aston Villa bring in a potential replacement, Tottenham are closing in on Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Marco Asensio is wanted by Fenerbahce, and Arsenal are set to sign striker Olivia Smith from Liverpool ahead of the upcoming WSL season.

Villa line up Martinez replacement

Manchester United target Emiliano Martinez could move on in the summer, according to the Mirror.

Marco Bizot has been lined up by Aston Villa, suggesting that they are expecting Martinez to leave.

Spurs confirm Kudus signing from West Ham - 'A big sign'

The paper writes: "Aston Villa are signing Dutch keeper Marco Bizot - and that could signal an exit for Emiliano Martinez. Bizot, 34, is joining from Brest and is a full Holland international who is keen to play in the Premier League and ready for a new challenge.

"Villa boss Unai Emery is looking for a new keeper with uncertainty over Argentina keeper Martinez’s long-term future. The Argentine's deputy last season, Robin Olsen was also moved on with his release confirmed following the expiry of his contract.

"A number of Villa's stars have been linked with potential exits after agonisingly missing out on the Champions League on the final day of the season. Ollie Watkins is a target for Manchester United, with the England international valued at £60 million by his current employers."

Spurs close in on Gibbs-White

Tottenham Hotspur are set to land Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, according to The Sun.

The 25-year-old has been persuaded to move to north London by manager Thomas Frank.

The paper reports: "Spurs are on the brink of landing England midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White after triggering his secret £60m release clause.

"New Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is understood to have sold his vision to Gibbs-White, 25, in the past few days.

"And the stunning swoop for the Three Lions star has left Nottingham Forest powerless to resist the move for one of their star assets.

"It is another statement of intent by Tottenham and Frank, following on from the £55m move for West Ham’s Ghanaian powerhouse Mohammed Kudus and the bid for Brentford goal poacher Yoanne Wissa."

Asensio nears PSG exit

Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Marco Asensio is nearing a move to Fenerbahce after ending his Aston Villa loan spell.

The Athletic reports that the 29-year-old midfielder is also a target of Saudi Pro League sides.

The paper writes: "Marco Asensio is progressing in talks over a permanent move from Paris Saint-Germain to Fenerbahce.

"A full agreement is yet to be reached but there is confidence Fenerbahce will conclude a deal.

"The Spanish midfielder, 29, wants to play for his country at next summer’s World Cup, and believes a transfer to the Turkish club, who will compete in next season’s Champions League, will give him the best chance of forcing his way into the European Championship holders’ squad.

"An agreement is not yet signed, but Fenerbahce are understood to be offering Asensio a competitive salary, in line with proposals he received from clubs in Saudi Arabia this summer, after they agreed a package with PSG."

Arsenal set to sign Smith

Arsenal are close to making a record-breaking deal by signing Olivia Smith for at least £1 million.

The Liverpool forward is edging closer to a move to north London, the Evening Standard says.

The paper explains: "Arsenal are set to make history by completing the first seven-figure transfer in the history of women’s football.

"The Gunners have agreed a fee with Liverpool for forward Olivia Smith and it is understood to be worth £1 million.

"The deal is a world-record fee and exceeds what Chelsea paid San Diego Wave to sign USA defender Naomi Girma in January, which was believed to be around £900,000.

"The signing of Smith is a coup for Arsenal and a statement of intent after they won the Women’s Champions League in May."

Mohammed Kudus has joined Tottenham Hotspur from London rivals West Ham United. The attacking midfielder - who produced eight goal contributions in the Premier League last term - has penned a reported six-year deal in a move worth a reported £54.5 million. The two-time Eredivisie winner joins Spurs after two years in east London, and has become the most expensive Ghanaian player of all time

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United.

The 24-year-old has joined the north London club on a long-term contract, for a reported fee of £54.5 million.

Kudus is the fifth player through the door at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, as the club begin their newest era under Thomas Frank.

Transfers

Kudus follows the arrivals of Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso - who both signed permanently after loans last season - as well as centre-backs Luka Vuskovic and Kota Takai.

"I have always wanted to play at the highest level," Kudus told the club’s official website. "It is a big moment, I am happy to be here and can’t wait to start."

Kudus said he was swayed to move to Spurs by the prospect of working under Frank.

He said: "The most important part about why I have come here is the project and how the manager sees I can develop under him.

"Where he has come from and seen the amount of talent he has developed to become great players, it is a big sign of why I wanted to work under him."

After joining West Ham from Ajax in 2023, Kudus made 80 appearances for The Hammers and scored 19 goals, providing 13 assists. In the Premier League, Kudus has racked up 25 goal contributions in 65 matches.

As a Ghana international, the attacking midfielder has represented his country 42 times, scoring 12 goals.

It is reported that Kudus has signed a six-year deal and Spurs have confirmed that he will wear the No. 20 shirt for the 2025/26 season.

Despite the arrival of Kudus, who currently ranks as the club's fourth most expensive transfer of all time - and the most expensive Ghanian player in history - Tottenham's summer business looks far from over as they prepare for a return to the UEFA Champions League.

On Thursday, reports emerged linking the club with a move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White in a £60m move after triggering his release clause.

The England international is reportedly set to undergo a medical on Friday before making the switch.

Tottenham could be set to bolster their attacking options after agreeing a deal to sign West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus, according to reports. Tottenham have reached an agreement with West Ham to sign forward Mohammed Kudus in a deal worth around £55 million, according to The Athletic.

The 24-year-old is expected to undergo a medical on Thursday before signing a six-year contract.

Spurs reportedly had a £50m offer rejected by West Ham, before an improved bid was made.

Kudus, who scored five goals and got three assists for the Hammers last season, is under contract until 2028 and has a reported buyout clause of £85m for Premier League clubs.

The Ghana international has impressed since moving to England from Ajax in 2023, scoring eight goals and providing nine assists in his debut campaign for West Ham.

A new forward has been a priority for Tottenham this summer, with speculation of interest in Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, who is a top target for Manchester United.

Instead, Spurs have turned to Kudus, who looks set to make the short move to north London and join up with new head coach Thomas Frank.

It follows the announcement that Aston Villa’s clash with Newcastle United will get another season of live action underway on the opening weekend.

City will be desperate to get off to a strong start after finding themselves well off the pace as they ceded the title to Liverpool last term.

Pep Guardiola’s squad have already been bolstered by a trio of new arrivals, with Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki arriving so far this summer.

Tottenham, meanwhile, will travel north for their first away league game under new boss Thomas Frank.

Spurs dismissed Ange Postecoglou at the end of a season of highs and lows, with the club’s European triumph ultimately not being enough to save him after a shocking 17th-place league finish.

The action continues on Saturday, August 30, when Chelsea face Fulham in a local derby at 12:30.

Enzo Maresca's side are looking to end the season on a high when they face Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup final on Sunday.

The Blues will be looking to continue their strong form into the new domestic campaign, with Fulham visiting in the third week of the new season.

One good omen for The Cottagers is that in the two meetings between the sides last season, the away side came out on top - including a 2-1 win for Fulham on Boxing Day at Stamford Bridge sealed with a 95th-minute Rodrigo Muniz winner.

Manchester United eye Ollie Watkins amid Rasmus Hojlund doubts, Arsenal to rival Spurs for Eberechi Eze - Paper Round

Updated 01/07/2025 at 08:24 GMT+1

Tuesday’s Paper Round leads on Aston Villa centre-forward Ollie Watkins being monitored by Manchester United, amid doubts over the future of Rasmus Hojlund. Elsewhere, Arsenal are set to rival their local rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer, while Spurs are also keen on West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus.

Watkins on Man Utd shortlist

Manchester United have placed Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins on their striker wish list should Rasmus Hojlund leave the club, the Athletic reports.

United executives are said to have contacted their Aston Villa counterparts, via intermediaries, as they explore their options.

Transfers

Eze keen on Spurs, Liverpool star disappointed with contract talks - Paper Round

“Conversations between United and Aston Villa concerning Marcus Rashford at the end of last season included the prospect of Watkins being involved in any possible summer transfer. The clubs held discussions despite there being a £40m option for Villa to buy Rashford. Ultimately, Rashford’s desire to join Barcelona put an end to that possibility.

“United’s full focus at the moment is agreeing a deal with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo and then pushing for the sales which are required to free up further funds. In the background, they are also assessing the market on strikers, Watkins included.”

Arsenal open Eze talks as Gunners to rival Spurs

Arsenal look set to rival Tottenham in the race to sign Eberechi Eze after holding talks with the Crystal Palace and England star's representatives, the Guardian reports.

Mikel Arteta wants to add creativity and depth to his Arsenal squad and the club’s officials met Eze’s agents on Saturday to discuss personal terms and other details, but have yet to open talks with Palace over the England international.

The Guardian adds: “Eze, who was released by Arsenal at the age of 13, is believed to have a release clause of £67.5 million in a contract that runs until 2027, and Palace have been adamant they will allow him to depart only if that is met.

“Tottenham have a longstanding interest in Eze and have discussed whether to make him a statement signing for their new manager, Thomas Frank.

“A readiness to submit an official offer could depend on whether Palace are willing to accept less than his clause, which at this stage seems unlikely.”

Spurs eye Kudus

Tottenham are willing to make Mohammed Kudus the first player to move directly from rivals West Ham United for more than 10 years, the Telegraph reports.

Spurs are said to be optimistic about signing Kudus for below his £85m release clause, which runs for the first 10 days of July. Sources told the Telegraph that Kudus may be more likely for Spurs than Mbeumo, Antoine Semenyo and Eze.

The Telegraph adds: “West Ham are willing to sell 24-year-old Kudus to help finance a summer rebuild under head coach Graham Potter and the player is believed to be open to the prospect of a move across London.

“Joining Spurs would make Kudus the first player to move directly from West Ham since midfielder Scott Parker in 2011.

“Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy blocked Emmanuel Adebayor from joining The Hammers four years later and the clubs have not done business since the Parker deal.

“Chelsea had shown an interest in Kudus, but the Stamford Bridge club are completing the signings of winger Jamie Gittens and forward Joao Pedro.”

Richarlison clear to leave Spurs

Thomas Frank is ready to sanction the departure of Richarlison from Tottenham.

There had been talk of a move to Everton, but the paper says the Brazilian may head overseas.

The Sun writes: "Although the 28-year-old striker has been linked with a return to Everton, sources close to the Merseyside club say David Moyes has rejected the chance to sign him.

"It means Richarlison, who endured a frustrating season last term, is expected to head to Turkey and sign for Galatasaray.

"They’ve also been chasing Victor Osimhen, but with that deal looking difficult to get over the line, their attention has now switched back to the Brazil international - who could be available for just £20m.

"Another option would be a loan deal - although Spurs are believed to prefer the idea of a permanent switch.

"They’re ready to cut their losses on a player who has endured a frustrating time in North London."
