Tottenham and AZ Alkmaar have agreed the transfer of a striker who scored 17 league goals last season and hopes are high the move will spark a genuine title charge.

Much was expected of Troy Parrott upon breaking into Tottenham’s first team way back in the 2019/20 season. Unfortunately for the striker, the presence of Harry Kane meant the Republic of Ireland international did not have a clear pathway into the eleven.

As such, the now 22-year-old was loaned out on four separate occasions before a fifth loan exit was sanctioned last summer. Parrott joined Dutch side Excelsior and impressed during a magnificent campaign.

Parrott bagged 17 goals in 29 Eredivisie matches including two late-season hattricks in the relegation play-offs. Ultimately, his efforts weren’t enough to prevent Excelsior from being relegated.

According to numerous sources, Parrott is now primed to return to the Netherlands by joining AZ Alkmaar in a permanent deal.

The Dutch club – who finished in fourth position and ahead of Ajax last term – hope to take the next step and challenge for the title next season.

They’re banking on Parrott’s goals putting them in the mix with the likes of PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord and have agreed a deal with Tottenham.

AZ Alkmaar will pay €8m/£6.7m and the frontman has already flown to the Netherlands to undergo a medical.

An update from Football London claimed Parrott’s intention had always been to break into Ange Postecoglou’s first-team plans back in north London.

However, Postecoglou and Spurs have denied the striker that chance and Parrott will now get the opportunity to prove Tottenham wrong while back in the Netherlands.

The exit will reduce Postecoglou’s striking options ahead of a return to a more congested fixture list next season. By way of their fifth-placed finish, Spurs are back in Europe in the Europa League.

Spurs are on the hunt for a new striker and continue to draw links with Brentford and England ace, Ivan Toney.

Tottenham are reportedly ready to get serious in their efforts to upgrade the striker position for Ange Postecoglou as they finally set their sights on landing a prime target.

The north London club failed to replace all-time goalscorer Harry Kane when he left for Bayern Munich in 2023, opting to use a combination of Richarlison and skipper Son Heung-min in the central striker role.

The former was improved on his debut campaign, notching 12 times in total, while Son bagged 17 times. However, the South Korean is expected to be switched back to his preferred left-wing role for the coming season when a new striker is signed.

Richarlison, meanwhile, continues to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, although Tottenham are only willing to do business for a fee in the region of the £60m they forked out for the former Everton man.

But regardless of whether the Brazilian moves on, Postecoglou fully recognises the need for a more prolific No.9 if Spurs are ti turn a fifth-placed finish from last season into Champions League qualification this time around.

The likes of Santiago Gimenez, Jonathan David and Dominic Solanke have all been heavily tipped to move to north London, while a more recent report has seen them tipped to sign impressive Eintracht Frankfurt frontman Omar Marmoush.

Tottenham make serious Toney move

However, GiveMeSport now reports that Tottenham are now ready to make a serious move for Brentford and England attacker Ivan Toney – a player they have been strongly tipped to sign ever since Kane walked away.

With the 28-year-old entering the final year of his contract, which expires next June, the Bees will almost certainly sell him to avoid losing their talismanic striker for free next year.

In the 2022-23 Premier League season, Toney scored 20 goals in 33 appearances, making him the third-highest scorer in the division, trailing only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

However, the last campaign was more of a struggle after he was banned for eight months for breaking betting rules. He only returned to action in January and ended up scoring four times in 17 games.

Despite those struggles, Toney remains one of the most sought-after frontmen in English football this summer, with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham also showing interest in his services.

It was recently reported that Spurs had a £40m bid rejected for the player, with Brentford still hoping to fetch nearer to £65m. However, that report was never confirmed and it’s highly unlikely the Bees will expect to recoup that sort of figure for a player nearing 30 who only has a year left on his contract.

But now this fresh report states that Tottenham are ready to make a serious push to sign Toney and that the longer no other club launches a bid for him, the better the chances for Spurs to sign him for a fee close to £40m.

Toney is deemed the perfect style of striker for Postecoglou, given that he has the ability to link play as well as stretch defences with his pace, the latter part of which is more of a struggle for Richarlison.

However, there must be some alarm bells over a report that Arsenal backed away from a move for the player after reportedly being unimpressed with his attitude and manner during initial discussions over a deal.

With Tottenham looking increasingly likely to smash their transfer record as they get fully behind boss Ange Postecoglou, TT decided to look at the club’s top 10 signings of all time.

Spurs have already been fairly active this summer, offloading some of the deadwood in Postecoglou’s squad and bring in Timo Werner on loan again along with the additions of hugely talented young midfield duo Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray.

But more are expected to follow as Postecoglou targets a prolific No.9, almost certainly another central midfielder and most likely another centre-back to strengthen an area that proved problematic during the first half of last season.

The likes of Ivan Toney, Santiago Gimenez, Jonathan David and Viktor Gyokeres, although the latter is the only one of those names mentioned who would likely obliterate their current transfer record given his escape clause sits at £86m.

Eberechi Eze continues to be linked with a £60m switch to north London, although Manchester City well have stolen a march on Tottenham on that front.

However, the mere fact that Daniel Levy is seemingly now more than willing to splash out those sorts of figures to back a Tottenham manager who is already pushing the popularity of the Mauricio Pochettino era suggests that a record buy could well be around the corner.

The latest addition to the Tottenham ranks certainly comes with a big reputation after his outstanding efforts with Leeds United last season, which saw them just miss out on a quickfire Premier League return.

Gray, 18, has been signed by the club to play central midfield but the fact that he can also fill in at right-back is a massive added bonus for Spurs and Postecoglou.

Despite just being a teenager, Gray will be putting pressure on the likes of Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr at the heart of Postecoglou’s engine room – especially if he excels in pre-season.

There was a strong feeling when Sissoko arrived in north London that he was brought on the basis of how brilliantly he used to perform seemingly every time he played against Tottenham.

Spurs beat Everton to Sissoko’s signature in 2016 but he never reached the heights many had hoped for, despite the odd barn-storming display.

He spent five years at Tottenham before eventually joining Watford and after a two-year stint back in his homeland is now back playing at Vicarage Road.

Without a shadow of a doubt one of the best Premier League signings of last season and an absolute masterstroke addition from the club when many were questioning bringing in a young Dutch bloke from the Bundesliga.

Speed to burn and a tremendous ability to read the game as well, Van de Ven also showed his ability as an attacking threat when he played at left-back for the last couple of games of the season.

The Dutchman, who did not really get the chance to showcase his talents at Euro 2024, should be a mainstay at the heart of Tottenham’s defence for the next five to six years.

Former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood’s initial diagnosis after Porro’s first start for Tottenham in a 4-1 mauling at Leicester was that he was ‘so bad it’s unbelievable’. But the Spaniard has come a long way since then.

Porro was outstanding last season, notching four goals and adding seven assists in 37 games in all competitions and has clearly shown that he belongs in the English top flight.

The 24-year-old will be the first-choice starter for Postecoglou again when the new campaign starts, despite talk of the addition of a new right-back after Japhet Tanganga’s exit and the likely sale of Emerson Royal.

A real season of two halves for the England playmaker in his first campaign in north London.

Maddison was sensational through the first 10 games of the season as Tottenham sat top of the table but, after an ankle injury ruled him out for over two months, he never returned to anything like those heights.

Indeed, his struggles led to a devastating axing from the England squad for Euro 2024.

However, Maddison is the sort of character who will come out swinging to prove people wrong so big things are expected of the 27-year-old ahead of the upcoming season.

Sanchez was the club’s record signing when the arrived from Ajax back in 2017 but ultimately disappointed after spending six years in north London.

The Colombian actually started his career at Tottenham strongly as he played in the middle of a back three with the ever-reliable Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld either side of him.

However, he was not as comfortable in a four and often looked uncomfortable and clumsy in possession.

It was no great surprise when he left for Galatasaray in September 2023, although that should have probably come much sooner given his lack of playing time over the previous few campaigns.

Another terrific signing for what now looks a bargain fee and it’s hard to imagine that Romero actually cost the same as Sanchez!

Disciplinary issues aside, Romero has been a strong presence for Tottenham and has become a World Cup winner since moving to the club.

Hi partnership with Van de Ven could be a mainstay for years to come, if Levy and co. can keep him from out of the clutches of an envious Real Madrid.

An Ange Postecoglou buy last summer who showed flashes of why the club forked out nearly £50m for his services without really ever hitting the heights that were probably hoped.

The Wales international has many of the qualities that should make him a dangerous winger in the Premier League but there was just a feeling that he was transitioning his way into playing for a bigger club.

Johnson will certainly need to his the new season running as competition for the wide berths in Postecoglou’s front three will be pretty fierce.

The former Forest man is currently competing with Dejan Kulusevski for a spot on the right but Manor Solomon will be back from injury and talk over a deal for Eberechi Eze remains.

A disastrous first season in north London was at least followed up by a much-improved effort from the sometimes-moody Brazilian last time around.

Richarlison looked more at home playing under Postecoglou than he did Antonio Conte, notching 12 goals in 31 games but rumours persist over a potential switch to the Saudi Pro League as Tottenham eye a more prolific No.9.

However, if that does not happen then expect the former Everton man to start the season centrally, with skipper Son Heung-min back in his favoured left-wing position.

Three words: Waste of money. Another three: Waste of talent.

Ndombele looked a rare talent when arrived in huge deal by Tottenham standards back in 2019 after the disappointment of the Champions League final loss to Liverpool.

In total he made just 91 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and was loaned out to Lyon, Napoli and Galatasaray.

The 27-year-old is now back in his homeland at Nice after being released from his Tottenham contract with one year left remaining.

Tottenham have been told not to make the same mistake as they did with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah by signing the ‘outstanding’ Omar Marmoush.

Ever since selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last summer, Tottenham have struggled to replace the goals their record-scorer provided.

While manager Ange Postecoglou has, arguably, improved the team as a whole, with Spurs finishing fifth in the Premier League last season, their attack is not nearly as potent as it once was.

Son Heung-min chipped in with another vital 17 goals last term but his fellow forward and £60m signing Richarlison has not been nearly as prolific in front of goal.

Since signing from Everton in 2022, the Brazil international has scored just 15 goals and bagged eight assists in 66 matches in all competitions.

Off the back of that return, the 27-year-old – who has suffered his fair share of injuries during his stint in north London – has been linked with a Tottenham transfer exit.

Amid talk of a Richarlison departure and links with Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and Brentford’s Ivan Toney, one rumoured target is Eintracht Frankfurt’s Marmoush.

According to German publication Bild, the Bundesliga outfit are holding out for £42m if the Egypt international is sold this summer.

The 25-year-old, whose contract at Frankfurt runs until the summer of 2027, has slightly better numbers than Richarlison at Spurs, with the forward notching 17 goals and six assists in 41 appearances to date.

Liverpool are also said to be admirers of the former Wolfsburg man but Spurs have now been urged to pip their Premier League rivals to Marmoush’s signature.

Tottenham told to not repeat Salah mistake

Former Spurs forward and ex-Egypt international Mido strongly advised his old club to recruit the 6ft Marmoush earlier this year.

While he is a striker by trade, Mido believes Marmoush would work perfectly under Postecoglou as a winger. He also claimed that he told Tottenham to sign Salah – who has gone onto be a Liverpool legend – before he swapped Basel for Chelsea in 2014.

He previously tweeted: “Years ago I advised #Spurs to sign #salah when he was still at #Basil they never listened to me…now I’m telling you plz [sic] go for Marmoush he will be a great signing and will fit in perfectly in Angie’s system as a left or right winger…hard worker top professional and can score goals..plz [sic] #levy sign #Marmoush from #Frankfurt #COYS.”

Spurs can maybe be forgiven for not signing Salah from Basel as Chelsea paid £11m for him when he was 21 and he flattered to deceive at Stamford Bridge, albeit he wasn’t given much of a chance to shine.

Loan spells at Fiorentina and Roma followed, before the latter took a chance on him and he repaid their faith. That led Liverpool to sign him for £43m in 2017 and the rest is history.

Incidentally, despite Marmoush being described as ‘outstanding’ by a report in Egyptian media, his return of 12 goals last term may not inspire many – particularly as Richarlison was just one short of that tally in 2023/24.

And after spending £40m to sign 18-year-old Archie Gray from Leeds United earlier this summer, if Spurs splash that amount of money on another player, it may be on someone with a better goal return than the Frankfurt ace.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been left frustrated after a deal to offload a player way down Ange Postecoglou’s plans collapsed to leave the club seeking a new solution and with the player now back in training with their first-team squad.

The no-nonsense Spurs supremo has wasted little time in cutting loose some of their unwanted stars this summer, agreeing to let failed club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele leave on a free, while also allowing Japhet Tanganga, Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic to depart. Tottenham have also negotiated the £10m sale of defender Joe Rodon to Leeds, with the Wales defender’s departure helping to pave the way for Archie Gray’s record-setting move to N17.

However, there remains plenty of work for Tottenham, Levy and Postecoglou to do. They made rapid strides under the hugely-popular Aussie coach in his first season at the helm, ultimately finishing fifth.

But after leading the table after 10 games, the fact they failed to hang on to at least a top-four spot will have left all associated with the club with some lasting disappointments – and clear progress to be made.

To that end, there will be some more departures agreed before the season is out, with Postecoglou keen to cut more players from his squad who do not form part of his long-term vision at the club.

Sergio Reguilon is one such star expected to leave, though he is another the club will likely have to accept a large financial hit on.

And the club are also understood to be open to offers for Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg if they receive a suitable offer for the former Southampton and Bayern Munich man.

Tottenham transfers: Djed Spence deal collapses

One man who certainly falls into the unwanted category already is Djed Spence.

The full-back was very much a signing at the insistence of Levy back in summer 2022 when they paid Middlesbrough £20m for his services after a blistering season on loan with Nottingham Forest in the Championship.

However, with Spence not fancied by then-boss Antonio Conte, the right-back was soon on the move, joining Rennes in France on a temporary deal.

Last season, he was sent out on loan again, this time to Leeds, but was then sent back to Tottenham when the January window opened having fallen out with Whites manager Daniel Farke.

That prompted a switch to Italy with Genoa and it seemed as though Spence had found himself a permanent home after making 16 appearances in Serie A and with the Italian making it clear they were keen to sign the 23-year-old on a permanent basis.

Upon signing for la Rossoblu on loan, the deal contained an option to make the deal permanent for €10m (£8.5m).

However, Genoa were looking to lower that fee to nearer the €7m (£5.9m) mark, feeling Spurs would be willing to negotiate given the player did not have a long-term future in north London.

That was a fee below what Levy was willing to accept and despite extensive talks to find a resolution, BBC reporter Nizaar Kinsella has now confirmed the deal is off.

As a result, Spence has now returned to pre-season training with Tottenham, where he will look to build up his fitness ahead of a possible move elsewhere.

Despite being put through his paces, it is understood that the former England U21 international will not be afforded a second chance and efforts to move him on will continue.

Spurs are hoping to negotiate a permanent sale, but will have to take a serious hit on their initial investment, while a loan with an obligation to buy could also be considered.

Spence’s deal at Tottenham runs to summer 2027.

Tottenham Hotspur are trying to offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and one of his team-mates to the same club, and their departures could help fund a brilliant Premier League raid.

Hojbjerg has typically been a regular starter for Tottenham since joining the club from Southampton in August 2020, but that changed when Ange Postecoglou arrived as manager last summer. Postecoglou holds serious concerns about Hojbjerg’s ability to keep up with his lightning fast style of play.

The Denmark star was resultantly linked with a winter move away from Tottenham, though that did not materialise. But after playing just 1293 minutes of Premier League football last term – the equivalent of only 14 full matches – it is clear that Hojbjerg needs to leave so he can become a crucial player for a different side.

Italian giants AC Milan have been tipped to vastly increase the experience in their squad by capturing both Hojbjerg and his Tottenham team-mate Emerson Royal this summer.

As per the latest reports coming out of Italy, Milan maintain strong interest in both Hojbjerg and Emerson. Although, a double swoop has yet to be finalised.

The Italian media describe Milan as being ‘cocky’, as they have still not matched Spurs’ demands for Emerson, despite the right-back confirming himself that talks are underway over a potential transfer.

Milan are supposedly trying to lowball Spurs by offering just €10million (£8.5m), even though they are fully aware that the Premier League outfit want far more than this before selling.

However, it must be noted that this contradicts previous reports about the negotiations between Spurs and Milan. On Sunday, Fabrizio Romano revealed that a ‘new bid’ is coming for Emerson from Milan, with the Rossoneri having offered €15m (£13m) previously whereas Spurs are holding out for €25m (£21m).

Nevertheless, both Milan and Spurs are eager to strike a double deal for the Brazilian and Hojbjerg. Both players would jump at the chance to join Milan too, as they could feature more regularly and also represent an illustrious Italian club.

Once Spurs get Hojbjerg and Emerson sold, they will use those funds to try and improve their midfield with a top signing. Postecoglou remains a huge fan of Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey, whom Spurs have scouted previously.

Spurs have already proposed a player-plus-cash deal for Ramsey which would have seen Giovani Lo Celso move to Villa Park, only for Unai Emery to reject this offer.

Instead, Spurs will have to match Villa’s demands outright before adding the exciting 23-year-old to their squad. It is thought that Villa want at least £50m in order to sell their academy graduate to an English rival such as Spurs.

This is clearly a significant fee for Spurs to pay, but if they can sell Hojbjerg and Emerson for at least £30m first then that would hand Postecoglou a major transfer boost.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to take a big financial hit when selling Sergio Reguilon, while Manchester United have been linked with a shock move for their former loanee.

Reguilon has been on Tottenham’s books since September 2020, when the North London side paid Real Madrid £32million for him. Since then, the left-back has made 67 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions, chipping in with two goals and eight assists.

While Reguilon has been contracted to Tottenham, he has had loan spells at Atletico Madrid, Man Utd and Brentford.

Reguilon spent the first half of last season on loan at Old Trafford to act as cover for injured Man Utd duo Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

He went on to play 12 times for the Red Devils but did not manage a single goal contribution and ended his spell with the club on the bench, as Erik ten Hag preferred to use Diogo Dalot at left-back instead.

Man Utd included a winter break clause in the deal and that was activated on January 4, with Reguilon swiftly returning to Tottenham. The 27-year-old subsequently joined Brentford for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign and made a further 16 appearances for the Bees, registering four assists.

Reguilon is now back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, though he is poised to make another move this summer as Ange Postecoglou would rather play the likes of Destiny Udogie or Micky van de Ven on the left side of defence.

As per reporter Wayne Veysey, Spurs will sell Reguilon for less than a third of what they originally paid for him, having put him on the market for just £10m.

Tottenham transfers: Man Utd target put on market

While this is clearly a big financial blow, that £10m could come in handy as Postecoglou looks to improve his squad with some clever additions.

Man Utd will be intrigued by Spurs’ low demands for the Spaniard, who has won six caps for his nation.

Last week, it surprisingly emerged that Man Utd are weighing up a possible swoop for Reguilon to add to their left-back ranks.

Man Utd will face competition from West Ham United for the Madrid-born star, as Julen Lopetegui is an admirer of his.

Man Utd are fearful of another defensive injury crisis and are considering re-signing Reguilon so they have a third option in case Shaw and Malacia are not available in the future.

But Man Utd fans would likely be very frustrated if Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed this move. After all, the full-back put in several underwhelming performances before his first spell at Old Trafford was cut short in January.

Luckily for the Man Utd faithful, Reguilon is not the only left-back club chiefs are interested in. TEAMtalk can confirm reports from elsewhere that Man Utd are in the mix for Arsenal-linked Ferdi Kadioglu, who has shone for both Fenerbahce and Turkey recently.

Alternatively, Man Utd might raid Chelsea for an expensive left-back, and Ratcliffe supposedly has an ace up his sleeve for that potential deal.

Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham is one of the Championship’s best young talents and TEAMtalk can confirm he’s just rejected a move to the Premier League to stay at the Stadium of Light.

Jobe’s older brother, Jude, has become one of European football’s biggest superstars at Real Madrid and is one of England’s most important players.

Bellingham, 18, had huge pressure and expectations on his shoulders when he joined Sunderland for around £3m last summer, due to the incredible rise of his brother.

Living up to his sibling’s success will be incredibly difficult for the Black Cats’ attacking midfielder but several Premier League sides believe he has a big future ahead of him.

Sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk transfer correspondent Fraser (Fletcher) Gillan that Tottenham and Crystal Palace are very keen on Bellingham Jr.

However, the Premier League duo have been dealt a blow as the teenager has turned down a move to the top flight in favour of staying with Sunderland.

Jobe Bellingham waiting for ‘bigger’ offers

TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal that Sunderland have have held talks with Bellingham and his agents and have been successful in convincing him that staying with them is the best move for his development.

Regis le Bris’ side have never panicked about losing the England under-19s international, as they always believed he would stay at the Stadium of Light for at least another season.

That isn’t to say that Bellingham’s head can’t be turned by another offer but as things stand, he will be wearing red and white for the foreseeable future.

Sources close to the situation suggest there is a ‘belief’ in the Bellingham camp that ‘bigger’ offers will arrive if his career continues on its current trajectory, with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid are keeping an eye on him from a distance.

The Red Devils wanted to sign his older brother Jude and tried everything to bring him to Old Trafford back in 2020, showing him round the clubs’ facilities, introducing him to club legends and even giving him a guided tour of their Carrington training ground by legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Man Utd’s new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to bring the best British youngsters to the club and we can’t rule out a future move for Bellingham Jr. But, barring a major twist, the youngster isn’t going anywhere this summer.

Tottenham are reportedly not concerned by Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain interest in a highly-talented player of theirs, while attempts from Manchester United and Manchester City to sign him have been denied.

Spurs have notably brought some very good players through their academy in recent years. The likes of Andros Townsend, Harry Winks and Kyle Walker have gone on to play for England.

The latter has won multiple Premier League trophies since leaving the club, though whether he is the best product of their academy in recent years is a question given Harry Kane came through with Spurs and is the second-highest goalscorer in Premier League history.

Tottenham now have a star on the way up who some think could echo the successes of Kane, in Mikey Moore.

The 16-year-old is the youngest player ever to represent Spurs in the Premier League, having made two appearances last season.

They followed frankly ridiculous returns of 14 goals and eight assists in 12 under-18 Premier League games in the same campaign.

Moore has also bagged 12 goals in 10 England under-17 appearances.

And when he turns 17 in August, he’s expected to pen his first professional deal with the north London outfit, but that will not be the case if one of the European giants tracking him manages to get there first.

Tottenham unfazed by Real Madrid, PSG

Indeed, according to HITC, Real Madrid and PSG both want to snatch the forward from Tottenham.

But they also suggest that Spurs have no concerns about losing the youngster.

It’s said they are confident they will be able to keep him and usher him into a more regular first-team role next term.

That’s despite the fact Moore is said to have had contact with some sides outside of England, as it’s believed staying put would be best for him.

Approaches from two huge English clubs have been given short shrift, too.

Man Utd, Man City approaches denied

A recent report suggested that Manchester United and Manchester City had both tabled offers for Moore.

However, HITC’s report states that insiders have denied any such approaches from those sides have been made.

With that said, it looks increasingly unlikely that the Tottenham prodigy will be anywhere but north London next season.

Tottenham could see their move for Eberechi Eze hijacked, as Manchester City are reportedly willing to pay a record-breaking fee to land him this summer.

In terms of spending power, there are few sides who can compete with champions City in the Premier League. In fact, most clubs in world football pale in comparison to their financial status.

Indeed, the north London outfit are one of the clubs who are most interested in Crystal Palace star Eze, after he was directly involved in 15 league goals last term.

He has a release clause of £60million, which reports state Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will have no problem in paying.

And Spurs have already begun talks to get Eze on side before triggering his release clause with Palace.

But City interest could stop that move in its tracks despite the progress which has already been made.

Man City willing to trigger Eze clause

Indeed, The Sun reports that alongside Spurs, City are also willing to trigger the £60million clause.

And given the wages they could offer, if both sides do trigger it, there’s no guarantee that Tottenham come out on top.

The Athletic reiterates that City have strongly considered the signing of Eze previously.

However, at present, it’s stated they are not planning to move for the Palace and England man.

That means Spurs are safe for now, but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Guardiola and Co change their minds before the season starts, particularly given Kevin De Bruyne’s future is up in the air.

Eze transfer would break record

If either Tottenham, City or any other side are to trigger Eze’s release clause, they’d be breaking a record.

Indeed, Palace have never sold a player for as much as Eze would bring in. Aaron Wan-Bissaka left for £46.5million in 2019, while Michael Olise’s recent exit to Bayern Munich will reach just under £51million when add-ons are tallied up.

That means that Eze would be the most expensive sale from Palace by almost £10million.
