Description

Fresh reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of bringing former director Fabio Paratici back have been dashed, with the Italian set for a return to Serie A.

Tottenham Hotspur’s former director Fabio Paratici is now available for work, having served his suspension which lasted until this summer.

It had been reported that AC Milan were keen on securing Paratici’s services, with the Italian himself eager to get back into the mix and compete for silverware.

This was a worrying prospect for the North London club, given that Paratici had been operating in a consultancy role for Tottenham.

While some Spurs fans have expressed a strong desire to see Paratici return in an official capacity, fresh reports have now poured cold water on that possibility.

Fabio Paratici set for AC Milan role despite Spurs’ interest

According to TBR Football, Fabio Paratici has agreed to become AC Milan’s next sporting director, turning down a potential return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Daniel Levy was reportedly keen on bringing him back in a role similar to what Luis Campos currently holds at Paris Saint-Germain, offering strategic input behind the scenes.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, it now appears the Italian’s future lies in Italy, with Milan close to finalising his move to the San Siro as they aim to restore their status among Europe’s elite clubs.

What this means for Tottenham Hotspur’s rebuild

There’s no doubt Daniel Levy holds the ex-director in high regard, and why wouldn’t he? The Italian played a key role in securing some of Tottenham’s biggest signings in recent years.

That ship, however, seems to have sailed, leaving Spurs to move forward with their current director of football, Johan Lange, who has been overseeing operations for the past two seasons.

Lucas Bergvall says one Tottenham teammate has not been ‘human’ this season - The Spurs Web
Description

Lucas Bergvall has made a rather interesting claim about Tottenham’s season to the press back in his home country, explaining why this campaign has not been fair on him and his Spurs teammates.

Tottenham have lost more than half of the Premier League games this season and are currently languishing in 14th place in the table.

Ange Postecoglou has accepted that Spurs’ league results have been ‘unacceptable’ this season, but one does wonder if things will only get worse from here on as the Lilywhites turn their focus towards the Europa League.

However, the feeling inside the Tottenham Hotspur camp appears to be that the mitigating factors this season have simply not given the side a chance to compete.

Lucas Bergvall opens up on Tottenham’s struggles

Bergvall has been one of the few bright sparks of Tottenham’s season, having come on leaps and bounds over the last few months and establishing himself as one of the side’s most important players.

The 19-year-old has now insisted that this season has not been a fair one for Spurs, pointing out that many players in the squad have had to endure a very high workload because of the club’s injury crisis.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about his compatriot and teammate, Dejan Kulusevski, who has become one of the latest Tottenham players to succumb to an injury, Bergvall told Sport Bladet: “I don’t think it’s been a fair season to be honest. Not considering how much damage we have had.

“I don’t know what the reason is, but as we have talked about with Dejan, there are many who have played an incredible number of minutes. It’s not human, so of course it’s a big factor.”

Bergvall reveals what Tottenham have told him about workload

Postecoglou recently confessed that he is carefully managing Bergvall’s workload, given the amount of minutes the midfielder has played over recent months.

The latest update from Sport Bladet confirms that the Tottenham man is in line to start for Sweden in their friendly against Luxembourg on Saturday.

When asked if Spurs have asked him not to play both games during the international break, Bergvall told the outlet: “No, I haven’t heard anything. I only play as much as the coach wants me to play

Mason Melia is impressing ahead of Tottenham Hotspur transfer in 2026 - The Spurs Web
Description

A young Tottenham forward is continuing to impress out on loan and the teenager may be about to reach a significant milestone during the international break.

Spurs are blessed with a number of extremely talented young players in and around the first-team while several teenagers are also enhancing their reputation out on loan.

There is plenty of excitement among Spurs fans about the likes of Jamie Donley, Luka Vuskovic and George Abbott, given the way they have developed this season.

That stock of talented youngsters was added to in January when Tottenham signed Irish starlet Mason Melia from St Patrick’s Athletic for £1.6m plus add-ons.

The 17-year-old had to be loaned back to St Pat’s as he is only allowed to join Spurs when he turns 18, with the forward thus expected to arrive at Hotspur Way in January of 2026.

Mason Melia scores his first goal of the season

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that the Tottenham newcomer scored his first goal of the new League of Ireland season on Friday as St Pat’s beat Bohemians 3-0 win at home.

The journalist describes it as a ‘classic close-range goal’, explaining that Melia showcased his goalscoring instinct by timing his run into the box to turn home a cross.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This latest strike means that the forward has notched up 11 goals and four assists for his club at the senior level in 60 matches so far.

Gold further reveals that the young striker has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21s squad for the friendlies against Scotland and Hungary and may be about to make his debut at that level.

Tottenham saw off competition from a host of clubs for Melia

It was reported last month that Spurs had to see off competition from around 60 clubs across Europe to sign Melia.

The report claimed that talent scouts across the game see the youngster as a potential generational talent, but Tottenham were able to convince him to sign on the dotted line after he visited the club earlier this year.

This information has now been backed up by Alasdair Gold, who goes on to explain in his latest update that Ange Postecoglou’s backing of young players at Tottenham this season was crucial to Melia’s eventual decision to come to N17.

Tottenham come to a conclusion about Mathys Tel’s attitude and performances

Tottenham come to a conclusion about Mathys Tel’s attitude and performances - The Spurs Web
Description

Fabrizio Romano has shed light on what the feeling at Tottenham Hotspur is about Mathys Tel and about whether the North London club plan on buying the forward permanently from Bayern Munich in the summer.

Tel is still getting adjusted to life at Spurs, having arrived at the club towards the end of the January window in the middle of an extremely challenging season.

The 19-year-old is yet to set things alight on the pitch, but the youngster evidently feels very much part of the set-up already at the club.

That was demonstrated by the fact that Tel went over to speak to the travelling fans after Tottenham’s loss against Fulham, a gesture that Spurs fans may have expected from more experienced players in the squad.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham’s plans for Mathys Tel

Even though the on-loan Bayern Munich man is yet to show Spurs fans what he can do, Ange Postecoglou is convinced that Tel will prove a success at Spurs.

Romano has now explained that the decision-makers at Hotspur Way are very happy with the Frenchman’s attitude and his potential, and they trust him to become a real asset for the club.

When asked what the feeling at Spurs is about Tel, Romano told GiveMeSport: “For Mathys Tel, they’re very happy with the boy, with the attitude, with the potential they see in this boy, and that’s why they were fighting for weeks to sign him in January.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“And at the moment, their indication remains, as Postecoglou always says, that they trust him also for the future. Then let’s see what happens.”

Tel transfer decision could depend on Ange Postecoglou’s future

While the Tottenham boss has continued to back Tel, the reality is that Postecoglou is not guaranteed to be at Spurs at the start of next season.

If the Australian is sacked in the summer, that might affect the club’s decision on whether to activate the £45m option to buy the forward.

If the 19-year-old struggles to turn his form around, Tottenham may even ask Bayern for a discount in the summer.

Glenn Hoddle issues Europa League warning to Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou

Glenn Hoddle issues Europa League warning to Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou - The Spurs Web
Description

Glenn Hoddle has pointed out that the same old issues that have plagued Tottenham over the last two seasons proved their undoing at Craven Cottage and has issued a warning to Ange Postecoglou’s men ahead of their Europa League quarterfinal next month.

While Spurs fans still retain hope that the club can go all the way in the Europa League and turn what has been a difficult season into a memorable one, their Premier League campaign appears to be petering out with a whimper.

Their 2-0 loss against Fulham on Sunday saw Tottenham drop down to 14th in the table, 10 points adrift of the top half of the table.

There were some unceremonious scenes after the final whistle as Postecoglou was seen angrily confronting a Tottenham fan, an incident which is indicative of the mood around the club and the pressure that the Australian coach is under.

Glenn Hoddle says that Tottenham are too easy to play against

In his post-match press conference, Ange Postecoglou rued the soft goals his side conceded after gaining control of the game in the second half.

Hoddle believes that Tottenham’s defensive issues have been a recurring theme throughout the 59-year-old’s tenure, and warned the Lilywhites that unless they tighten up at the back, they would have no chance of lifting the Europa League trophy in May.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Spurs legend told Matchday Live on Optus Sport: “That’s their Achilles heel the goals they give away, they’re not making teams really work hard and earn their goals. There are a lot of mistakes – even in Europe, they conceded the other day.

“They’ve got to tighten up a lot more if they’re going to go and improve their position in the Premier League – which is going to be hard – but if they’re going to go all the way in the Europa League, they’ve got to tighten up defensively.

“They are too easy [to play against] they concede too easily. They’ve got their chance to get blocks in, I didn’t see anyone really trying to really put their body in front and make a block, it’s a bit passive.”

Glenn Hoddle fears for Tottenham

Postecoglou did rotate his squad for the clash against Fulham after their exertions against Alkmaar last Thursday, and Hoddle believes that the Spurs boss was fully justified in doing that.

However, the pundit suggested that the players who came into the side lacked the belief and confidence to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

When asked about Postecoglou rotating the side, Hoddle said: “He’s thinking, ‘For three months I’ve never been able to make those changes’, so he’s tried to utilise his squad and protect a few players, but they’ve got to get on the front foot.

“Whoever goes out there from one to 11 needs to be more positive, and there’s got to be a real belief about themselves. There are times when they can put lovely football together, but it’s not consistent enough; and you can say that over many years!

“But the end of this season can’t be allowed to go out of the Europa League, and then finishing in the Premier League is going to be a very difficult thing to look at for Spurs fans.”

Tottenham open talks with Angel Gomes to sign as summer free agent

Tottenham open talks with Angel Gomes to sign as summer free agent - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have now taken a significant step towards signing England international Angel Gomes as the Lilywhites try to steal a march over two of their Premier League rivals in the transfer race.

Spurs are expected to be in the market for midfield reinforcements in the summer, with reports over recent weeks claiming that Yves Bissouma is expected to leave Tottenham this summer.

A few outlets have reported over the past month that Lille’s Angel Gomes has emerged as one of Tottenham’s top transfer targets.

However, Gomes is on the radar of other Premier League sides, thus complicating Spurs’ transfer pursuit, but it has now emerged that Ange Postecoglou’s men have now taken the first step towards completing the deal for the player.

Tottenham have opened talks with Angel Gomes

Football Transfers have now revealed that Tottenham are ‘eager’ to win the race for Angel Gomes, whose contract with Lille runs out in June.

The Lilywhites are now said to have ‘initiated talks’ with the 24-year-old’s representatives regarding a free transfer to North London in the summer.

Manchester United and West Ham are also on the England international’s trail, but Postecoglou’s men have identified the player as a ‘key target’ and are ‘determined’ to add him to their Spurs squad.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ange Postecoglou’s side are determined to bolster their squad during the 2025 summer window, and we have been informed that Gomes has emerged as a key target for the North London outfit.

Will Spurs be able to persuade Gomes to sign?

With the midfielder into the final six months of his contract, he is allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with the non-French club before the summer.

If Man Utd and West Ham are Tottenham’s main competitors for Gomes’s signature, the North Londoners would perhaps fancy their chances of winning the race.

However, if a Champions League club enters the fray, which one would expect to happen as we get closer to the summer window, Spurs will have their work cut out in convincing the midfielder to come to N17.

Nottingham Forest plot plan to keep star player away from Tottenham Hotspur - The Spurs Web
Description

Just days after reports emerged that Tottenham and several of their rivals are circling over a Nottingham Forest star, the Midlands club’s stance on the player has been revealed.

We have seen a number of reports over recent weeks suggesting that Tottenham are prioritising reinforcements in the middle of the park in the summer.

Just a few days ago, it emerged that Tottenham are plotting an ambitious move for Forest midfielder, Morgan Gibbs-White, who has emerged as one of the most consistent box-to-box midfielders in the Premier League over the last few years.

The same article explained that the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United were also circling over the 25-year-old.

How Nottingham Forest feel about Gibbs-White interest

TBR Football have now revealed that Forest are aware of the interest in their star midfielder from Tottenham Hotspur and others, but they have no intention of letting him go.

The club are of the belief that if they achieve a top-five finish and get into the Champions League, they will be able to persuade Gibbs-White to remain at the City Ground.

In fact, Forest are prepared to open talks over a new deal with the former Wolves man and they hope to tie him down to a long-term contract and keep him off the clutches of the Premier League’s big hitters.

MORE SPURS STORIES

What will Forest do if Morgan Gibbs-White asks to join Tottenham?

TBR Football explain that while Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are adamant that they are not considering a sale, they may have a problem if the player asks to leave.

In that event, Forest are not expected to entertain any offers below £70m for the England man in the summer.

The publication adds that while Gibbs-White has a number of admirers in the Premier League, Newcastle United have shown the ‘strongest interest’ so far.

Mauricio Pochettino admits he ‘made mistakes’ at Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino admits he ‘made mistakes’ at Tottenham Hotspur - The Spurs Web
Description

Mauricio Pochettino has made a confession about why there was some ‘friction’ during his time at Tottenham and explained why he has his heart set on returning to the North London club in the future.

Just as speculation continues to run rife over the future of Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, Pochettino appears to be going on a charm offensive, seemingly laying the ground for a return to N17 in the future.

In the five years since the Argentine’s sacking, things have continued to go from bad to worse for Spurs, who have only qualified for the Champions League once since.

A few days ago, Pochettino hinted at a possible return to Spurs in the future, and the USA head coach has now made his desire more explicit.

Mauricio Pochettino on the mistakes he made at Tottenham

Pochettino now has his sights set on leading USA into a home World Cup next year, but he is far from done with club management.

In fact, the 53-year-old made it clear that he still dreams of a possible return to N17 in the future, admitting that he has unfinished business at Tottenham Hotspur after having failed to deliver a trophy in his first spell.

When asked about a possible return to Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino told The Times: “In the bottom of my heart, I still feel the same. I would like one day to come back. Not because of my ego, it’s because my feeling is I would like one day to win with Tottenham. We were so close.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“The problem was this type of journey creates a lot of friction for different reasons. Also, I made mistakes, you know? But the good thing is when you are clever you learn from your mistakes.

“It’s like when a relationship finishes, I feel empty, I feel so disappointed, with everyone, but also with myself because I didn’t manage well and when that happens it’s partly my responsibility.

“I think now Tottenham is a club with an expectation to win because if you see the facilities, the training ground or stadium, now you can see it is about winning trophies.

“That is why I would like one day to come back but if that doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. [There are] all the possibilities again to build something special. That is my feeling and it didn’t change.”

Despite the noises that the former Tottenham manager is making, a possible return to N17 does not seem to be on the cards for Mauricio Pochettino at least for another 15 months.

According to various reports over recent weeks, Pochettino is not considering jumping ship before next year’s World Cup as he is keen to lead USA into the home tournament.

Some sources have also claimed that a clause in Pochettino’s contract makes an exit very difficult until the end of the World Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur tipped to accept Yves Bissouma offer after crunch talks

Tottenham Hotspur tipped to accept Yves Bissouma offer after crunch talks - The Spurs Web
Description

Yves Bissouma’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is hanging in the balance, and after a string of underwhelming performances, a former Spurs scout believes a key decision regarding his future will be made.

Yves Bissouma’s 2024/25 campaign has been far from impressive, and his last five outings for Tottenham tell the full story.

He was hooked at half-time in the North London derby against Arsenal, subbed in the 68th minute against Brentford, and withdrawn in the 57th minute during Spurs’ Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg defeat to Liverpool.

It did not get any better. He was benched for the second half against Bournemouth after a lacklustre first-half display and was once again hauled off at the break in Spurs’ recent 2-0 defeat to Fulham.

Following his recent performances Tottenham fans have called for Spurs to part ways with Yves Bissouma.

Tottenham’s decision on Yves Bissouma’s future

After the reported crunch talks between Yves Bissouma and Tottenham Hotspur regarding his future, Football Insider has spoked to former Spurs scout Mick Brown about the club’s stance.

Brown reports that Spurs are planning to accept offers for the 28-year-old when the summer transfer window opens, with Ange Postecoglou no longer viewing Bissouma as part of his long-term plans.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The former scout also reveals that Tottenham are already in the market for a new central midfielder as they look to reinforce Postecoglou’s squad following a frustrating season.

Of course, Yves Bissouma’s contract situation is also a factor. The 28-year-old is set to have just 12 months left on his current deal by the summer, and there have been no discussions over an extension.

Indeed, as things stand, this summer represents the club’s last real opportunity to cash in before he becomes eligible to negotiate a free transfer in 2026.

Are Spurs already lining up a Bissouma replacement?

Mick Brown, who has extensive experience in top-level recruitment after more than a decade at Manchester United during their most dominant years, believes Spurs have already started working on finding a replacement.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “I’ve always thought he was a good player. He could be a real asset to somebody, but his form has been really up and down at Tottenham.

“I’ve been surprised by how far his levels have dropped since he arrived. That might be because there’s been a lot of disruption around him or because he’s being asked to do a job he’s not really suited to.

“I think he’s better playing with the game in front of him in a deeper role. I don’t think he fits into what Postecoglou is trying to do, and he’s not really going to be part of his plans long-term.

“They’ve got other options he prefers in that position, and I hear they’re going to look to sign somebody too. So I think they’ll be open to offers when the window opens, and I can see him leaving.

“If Bissouma leaves, he’s going to need replacing, and the scouting department are already working behind the scenes to find that player.”
