Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-21 squad is full of exciting and highly-promising talent, but one star of the Premier League 2 winning side is likely to leave the club this summer — only temporarily though, with a full sale now ruled out.

Spurs want to loan out Under-21 striker this season

Will Lankshear was in formidable form for Tottenham‘s youth side last term, scoring 23 goals in 26 games, and adding three assists to boot, as the young Lilywhites stormed to the top of the Premier League 2 table.

The Spurs Under-21s then made their way through the play-offs and claimed the trophy to crown a highly successful season all round.

According to a report from Football.London, that has brought a lot of attention to the players involved, with Lankshear now a wanted man.

But, Spurs have “made it clear they have no intention of selling” Lankshear this summer. It is thought the 19-year-old will “likely to get a chance” to show Ange Postecoglou what he can do in pre-season before a decision is made on his next step.

Spurs will not sell Will Lankshear this summer

There is a chance Lankshear could stay with the Under-21 setup and be given opportunities for “some first-team minutes in the Europa League.”

The other thought is that a “loan move would be more beneficial,” with various Championship and European teams sniffing around already.

As per a report from Football League World, Middlesbrough are believed to be at the front of the queue to sign Lankshear this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Selling Will Lankshear would be a huge mistake, and I’m glad that doesn’t seem to be part of the club’s plans for him. He’s a top young striker, and I think a loan move would make a lot of sense this year.

As much as I would like to see him get some first-team action, I just can’t see it happening yet, or certainly not to a substantial level anyway.

Report: Ange Postecoglou’s sly dig at Arsenal over transfer target leaves pundits hysterical

Description

Tottenham boss, Ange Postecoglou has been weighing in his opinion as part of ITV’s coverage of Euro 2024.

Postecoglou has done well as a pundit at the Euros

Back in late May, it was revealed by the Daily Mail that ITV were ‘set to win the battle to secure Ange Postecoglu as a pundit at EURO 20204’ ahead of the BBC. It’s understandable why the Spurs head coach is such hot property with his imposing nature and consistently honest and forensic detail of analysis.

The Tottenham Hotspur manager was allocated punditry duties for the match between England v Slovenia on Wednesday (25/6/24) in order to dissect what was ultimately another sluggish performance from the home nation of Postecoglou’s club team.

However, it wasn’t just the Australian’s thoughts on the game that caught the attention of fans and fellow pundits, but instead his sly dig at fierce North London rivals, Arsenal, who became topic of conversation following a discussion over Gunner’s target, Benjamin Sesko.

Ange Postecoglou’s Arsenal dig will be appreciated by Spurs fans

The Standard published back in late May that Arsenal had set their sights on Benjamin Sesko stating that the forward was ‘being chased by Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United as well as other top clubs’.

Arsenal appeared the favourite to land the forward fourteen goals in his debut season in Germany, however, Sesko weeks later penned a new five-year deal at Leipzig which reportedly omitted his original ‘£55m release clause’ according to the BBC.

Postecoglou praised the striker after his nation’s 0-0 draw with favourites England claiming he’s a striker with ‘some development in him’ but admitting he has ‘really good attributes for a striker’, going on to conclude that ‘it’s a smart move for him to stay there [Leipzig] another year’. (Daily Mail)

ITV’s host of the show, Mark Pougatch, picked up on the link cheekily questioning ‘is that the Tottenham manager saying it’s a smart move not to go to Arsenal?’

The Spurs manager swiftly smiled whilst stating ‘no comment’, causing understandable chuckles amongst the rest of the panel which featured Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Arsenal legend, Ian Wright.

Spurs Web Opinion

Having a go at North London rivals Arsenal is a quick way to earn a lot of respect and support from any Spurs fan, therefore, many will be happy to see their manager perhaps having a little jab at the Gunners and seemingly adopting the Tottenham attitude.

It’s particularly welcome of course due to the controversy that Postecoglou’s comments caused among some fans around the North London derby and soon after the Manchester City game which held bearing upon whether Tottenham arch enemies would lift the title.

old starlet who was 'of interest' to Spurs

Chelsea are set to seal a deal of £19 million for Aston Villa’s Omari Kellyman after his valuation scared Tottenham off.

Tottenham were interested in Omari Kellyman

Tottenham are likely to make some movements in the transfer market this summer for a central midfielder with a number of senior midfielders underwhelming this season, running out of contract or rumoured to be seeking a move elsewhere.

After widely reported interest last summer, the Daily Mail has reported that Atletico Madrid have ‘rekindled their interest’ in signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Other midfielders linked with a move away are Giovanni Lo Celso who has according to Estadio Deportivo ‘maintained contacts’ with his former club, Real Betis amid whispers of a summer return to the club.

Football.London has also revealed that academy product, Oliver Skipp, is ‘keen to get regular game time next season, even if that means heading out of Tottenham’.

MORE SPURS STORIES

One of the strongest suggestions of who could go to someway of improving the changing Tottenham midfield is Connor Gallagher, with The Telegraph claiming Spurs are, with Aston Villa ‘at the front of the queue to sign Gallagher’.

Chelsea win the race for Omari Kellyman

Kellyman, who has only played for 35 league minutes for Villa (TransferMarkt), was a player who was ‘of interest’ for Tottenham as well as fellow top-flight sides, Brighton and West Ham, according to TBR Football.

However, it appears as though Chelsea were the side with the most passion about signing the player as they are set to sign the midfielder, who can also play further up the field, with the Standard revealing that the player was ‘due for his Chelsea medical’ on Monday (24/6/24).

TBR Football also revealed that once Tottenham had found out that Chelsea would be willing to pay the rumoured fee of £19 million, Levy and the club ‘backed away from the deal’.

Kellyman is now set to be the next of Todd Boley’s bucketload of young signings, whilst pocketing Aston Villa, who are, like Chelsea reportedly in FFP trouble, a large fee. (Villa News)

Spurs Web Opinion

The club will likely need to invest in a new midfielder, with myself even writing in an article recently that defensive midfield could go a long way to aiding Postecoglou’s attempts to stop the team from leaking goals.

Kellyman, despite playing further forward, would be a welcome addition to the squad considering his seven goals in eleven PL2 games, but as is the routine for Chelsea now, it seems as though the price they are paying is likely to be largely disproportionate to the real value of the player.

Dwight Yorke has been discussing one of his former clubs and reckons they could have a decent season in 2024/25 thanks to their new manager, though he does admit the appointment is something of a ‘gamble.’

Chris Davies could flourish at Birmingham City

After just one year at Tottenham Hotspur, Chris Davies has moved on to take the top job at Birmingham City, with promotion from League One very much the target.

Speaking to Best Online Poker Sites, Yorke predicted a promising season ahead for the Blues, if Davies can replicate the kind of football Ange Postecoglou promotes at Spurs.

He said: “I’m happy Chris Davies has been given the opportunity at Birmingham City, because he’s a gamble.

“Ange Postecoglou obviously plays great football at Tottenham, and if Davies can bring any of that to Birmingham City, then they may have a better season than last.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“But, Davies has not been a manager, only an assistant, so it’s hard to predict what will come for it.”

Will Spurs loan anyone to Birmingham this summer?

Davies will lead Birmingham in League One coming off the back of a disappointing campaign in the Championship that saw the Midlands club end up in the relegation zone.

At Spurs, Davies has been replaced by Matt Wells, who stepped up from an Assistant Coach role, to take on the Senior Assistant Coach position under Postecoglou for the coming season.

To fill that gap, Spurs will appoint Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo as coaches at the club in the next week.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have a feeling Chris Davies will do very well at Birmingham this season, and I fancy them to go straight back up to the Championship.

Hopefully, we can utilise that relationship a little bit and send some of our youngsters to Birmingham, too, as you’d imagine they would flourish with the former Spurs man.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a slew of players already this summer, but how close are they to actually signing anyone? And what’s stopping them from announcing something?

Why haven’t Spurs signed anyone yet?

The situation at Tottenham right now has been made all the clearer thanks to a report from The Athletic, which reveals a number of reasons why the North London side haven’t made any significant waves in the transfer market as of yet.

Apparently, Spurs are “not close to signing anybody” at the moment. However, Archie Gray and Conor Gallagher are both cited as players the club are interested in.

Still, Spurs fans should not be too concerned. The report adds that the Lilywhites are simply waiting for the “right opportunity” when it comes to transfer activity.

With “no PSR troubles” and a “revamped” recruitment team headed up by Johan Lange, it is suggested Spurs are well-placed to make things happen through the summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham are not close to first summer signing

The impact of Euro 2024 and Copa America is also mentioned as a possible cause for Spurs taking things slow at the moment, with many players “too busy” concentrating on international duty to “seriously think about switching clubs” right now.

The report wraps up by suggesting one area Tottenham are keen to add to is in the full-back positions. It is also claimed Richarlison could be on the move, and would “need to be replaced.”

So far, the only deal Spurs have confirmed this summer is the extension of Timo Werner’s loan spell with the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m totally fine with Spurs taking their time in the transfer market right now.

It sounds like we have irons in the fire and we definitely know what areas the club wants to improve in, and with the recruitment team in there now, I’ve faith that appropriate transfers will be made when the time is right.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Nabil Bentaleb, is thought to be improving after he suffered a health scare last week, and is now showing ‘reassuring’ signs in hospital as he makes his recovery.

Nabil Bentaleb has undergone numerous examinations in hospital

The latest press release from Bentaleb‘s current club, Lille, is a positive one and suggests that the 29-year-old is on the road to recovery now.

It reads: “Hospitalised since last Tuesday at Lille University Hospital, Nabil Bentaleb has since carried out several examinations and health checks which have been reassuring. The LOSC midfielder is still under observation in hospital but could return home during the week.

“The Club is delighted with this reassuring news that it is able to communicate today and will naturally continue to provide all its support in this ordeal, to Nabil and his loved ones. LOSC and Nabil would like to thank everyone who provided the many expressions of support.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Sending well wishes to Nabil Bentaleb

The French side released a statement last week revealing Bentaleb was suffering an ‘illness’ and included no indication as to how serious his condition was.

Tottenham Hotspur‘s official social media account posted at the time to wish Bentaleb well and let him know that ‘Everyone at the Club’ was with him.

Bentaleb is a product of the Spurs academy, and went on to make 66 appearances for the Lilywhites between 2011 and 2017 (Transfermarkt). He has got his career back on track with Lille after struggling to find a new club in the wake of his departure from Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is great news and hopefully, Nabil is now over the worst of whatever he was suffering with.

It sounds like he’s well on the way to recovery now, and fingers crossed he can get out of hospital soon and get back on the football pitch to begin his pre-season training.

Report provides update on Tottenham's pursuit of Emerson Royal replacement

Description

Tottenham Hotspur look set to sell Emerson Royal this summer, and when they do, it seems they have earmarked his replacement already, though no offer has been made yet.

One Brazilian out, another Brazilian in for Spurs

Reports from Brazil heavily suggest that Emerson Royal is on his way out of Tottenham, and that the North London side will bring in another Brazilian to fill his place in the Spurs squad.

The latest on the situation comes from Trivela, with a claim that Spurs are ready to act when Royal does move on, with AC Milan his likely destination, and have identified Monaco’s Vanderson as their new signing.

It is thought the Lilywhites have contacted Monaco about the 23-year-old, but are yet to put forward an official offer for the player.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Should Tottenham move for Vanderson this summer?

Monaco are reportedly looking for a fee of €30m (£25.4m) to let Vanderson go, a valuation that “could be an obstacle” for Tottenham.

Napoli are also thought to be interested, but would also struggle to reach that fee. Vanderson apparently generated interest from the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Barcelona last year, but stayed put.

However, it is believed his “dream” is to play in the Premier League one day, which could give Spurs the edge in the race for his signature this summer.

All will depend on Royal’s departure, but it is suggested an “auction is looming” for Vanderson (Corriere del Mezzogiorno via SportWitness) if and when that exit does occur.

Spurs Web Opinion

I really like the look of Vanderson and I would be pretty happy if he came in to replace Emerson Royal.

He’s far better suited to our system, for a start, and he will likely keep improving as he’s only young. £25m does seem a bit steep, but if we can get that down to around £20m I think we could see a deal happen.

money signing' Spurs are looking to 'put their eggs in the basket for'

Alasdair Gold has named Eberechi Eze as the player that Tottenham Hotspur are most likely to spend big on this summer, revealing that Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of the Crystal Palace star.

Spurs are serious about Eberechi Eze

Over the past few weeks, an increasing number of outlets have suggested that Spurs are serious about their efforts to prise Eze away from Crystal Palace.

Earlier this week, TBR Football claimed that Tottenham had reached out to the England international about a potential transfer and that the player had signalled his intention to make the move.

It was suggested by talkSPORT on Tuesday that Spurs are even prepared to activate the attacking midfielder’s release clause which stands at around £60m, with the report adding that the Lilywhites are willing to look at it once they free up their wage bill with a few player sales.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs have Eberechi Eze as a priority signing

Gold has now suggested that Eze is the one player that Tottenham want more than any other this summer.

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “The big one is probably Eberechi Eze, I mentioned earlier, he’s definitely one of Spurs’ priority targets they’d love to bring in this summer. Postecoglou is a big admirer of his.

“He would definitely be a big-money signing. We talk about those big kind of money signings and he would certainly be the one that you’d think Spurs are kind of looking to put their or at least try to put their eggs in the basket for.

“Again, I can, you’re quite rightly, I can hear people saying ‘why does it have to be only one’, but certainly, he would be so exciting if Spurs could get that done.

“They love him at Spurs and he is, as I’ve said before, represented by Base, the agency who also represent Postecoglou, Son, Madison, Porro, Sarr and more staff at the club.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham cannot afford to wait too long as one would imagine that other top clubs across the Premier League would also be keeping an eye on Eze’s situation.

If a Champions League club come in for the Palace star, it might be difficult for Spurs to win the race.

Marc Bartra has commented on Lionel Messi’s social media post, asking the Argentine legend to convince his international teammate Giovani Lo Celso to move to Real Betis this summer.

Lo Celso looks to be on his way out of Tottenham

The writing appears on the wall for Lo Celso at Spurs, with many outlets suggesting that the midfielder’s five-year stay at Hotspur Way is expected to come to an end this summer (The Times).

A return to Betis continues to be mooted as a possibility for the midfielder, who left the La Liga club to come to the North London side back in 2019.

Just a few days ago, the print edition of ABC (as relayed by Sport Witness) suggested that Manuel Pellegrini’s men consider this summer an ideal time to bring the 28-year-old back to the club, having never lost touch with the player since he departed.

Bartra asks for Messi’s help to land Lo Celso

The report added that Tottenham want €15m for the Argentine while Betis are hoping to conclude a deal for around €10m.

Bartra has now commented on Messi’s Instagram post, which showed the former Barca and PSG star celebrating his 37th birthday alongside Lo Celso and his teammates.

The centre-back commented on the post: “Happy birthday Leo!! 🧸 😍 🐐 and tell the one wearing the cap backwards (Lo Celso) to come yaa 💚 🙄 🤩”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Betis are pulling out all the stops to land Lo Celso this summer and would one expect the negotiations between the La Liga club and Spurs to accelerate once Copa America is over.

I imagine £15m or so would land you Lo Celso this summer, and he is a much better player than that price so someone will get a very good deal.

Report: Postecoglou has lost a second 'popular' member of his backroom staff

The Northern Echo report that Tottenham have lost their strength and conditioning coach John Thrower, who has joined Middlesbrough ahead of the new season.

Tottenham lost Chris Davies this summer

There have been some big changes to Ange Postecoglou’s backroom staff during the off-season, with the players set to see some new faces when they report for pre-season.

Chris Davies vacated his role as the club’s senior assistant coach to take over as Birmingham City’s manager and Tottenham confirmed earlier his week that Matt Wells has been promoted to take over Davies’ old position.

Additionally, they also announced Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo will both join the club as assistant coaches, with the pair set to link up with the likes of Ryan Mason, Mile Jedinak and goalkeeping coach Rob Burch.

MORE SPURS STORIES

John Thrower swaps Spurs for Middlesbrough

The Northern Echo have revealed John Thrower, who worked as Spurs’ fitness and conditioning coach, has also departed Hotspur Way.

The report states that Thrower made the move from Middlesbrough to the Lilywhites two years ago and has now decided to return to the North East ahead of the new campaign.

The publication adds that the 32-year-old was a ‘hugely popular figure’ at Spurs as well as the Riverside Stadium during his previous stint at Boro.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that Thrower has returned to Middlesbrough rather than joining another Premier League club potentially suggests that it is Postecoglou and the Tottenham hierarchy who have decided to replace him.

Either that or he has moved for a promotion or to be closer to family. Whatever the case, Spurs are losing a talented coach and we wish Thrower all the best for the future.
