Tottenham’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze may have just got a lot trickier as it has now emerged that Arsenal are also among the clubs showing an interest in the Crystal Palace star.

Eberechi Eze is one of Tottenham’s top targets

Eze is currently with the England squad at the Euros but the speculation over the attacking midfielder’s future is intensifying back home.

Several reliable sources have reported over recent days that Tottenham hold a serious interest in Eze but it has been explained that a move for the 25-year-old will be far from straightforward (Football.London).

On Tuesday, TBR Football even asserted that Spurs had now reached out to the former QPR star’s representatives regarding a summer move.

The report explained that the player is willing to move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but Ange Postecoglou’s side would likely have to meet his release clause, which stands at over £60m.

Arsenal enter the race for Eberechi Eze

The Guardian have backed up the same claim about the asking price, stating that Eze is expected to cost more than £60m.

However, they report that Tottenham are not the only ones monitoring the midfielder, with their North London rivals Arsenal and Premier League champions Manchester City also considering moves.

The report adds that the Eagles are aware of the growing interest in Eze and are now bracing themselves for offers for their star man.

Spurs Web Opinion

One would think that an approach from either Man City or Arsenal is likely to turn Eze’s head but one would hope that Ange Postecoglou can convince the 25-year-old that he would be perfect for his system at Spurs and thrive at N17.

Jonathan David showed on Tuesday why Tottenham and so many other Premier League clubs are after him, netting the matchwinner for Canada in their Copa America clash against Peru.

Tottenham are being linked with Jonathan David

David has an outstanding goalscoring record for Lille, having found the back of the net 84 times in 183 appearances since his switch to the Ligue 1 side back in 2020.

With the striker having just a year left to run on his contract at Stade Pierre Mauroy, he is thought to be the subject of a four-horse race between Tottenham, Man United, West Ham and Chelsea (Guardian).

According to various sources over recent days, Spurs have already reached out to his entourage about a potential transfer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (Football Insider).

The 24-year-old served another reminder of his quality in front of goal on Tuesday, netting the only goal of the game at the Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City as Canada emerged 1-0 winners over Peru.

David was played through on goal on 74 minutes and took a couple of touches before placing the ball into the corner.

Watch the Spurs target’s strike below:

That was a finish not unlike the ones that we have come to expect from Son Heung-min over the years, with the striker slowing down and backing his ability to hit the corner.

David could be a very interesting signing for Spurs this summer.

Aston Villa reject Tottenham's player

Tottenham Hotspur appear to be making moves in the transfer market already, but their initial offer for a highly-rated English midfielder has been knocked back by Aston Villa.

Villa reject Tottenham’s cheeky bid for Jacob Ramsey

According to Express journalist, Matt Maher, Tottenham made a £20m offer for Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, with Giovani Lo Celso also thought to be part of the deal.

Maher tweeted: “Understand Villa have rejected a player-plus-cash approach from Tottenham for Jacob Ramsey. Deal was £20million plus Giovani Lo Celso. Villa have no interest in selling Ramsey. Still seen as key part of Unai Emery’s squad.”

A more in-depth report on the situation claims Spurs made the offer “last week” but this approach was “swiftly rebuffed” by Villa.

It adds that Villa “have no need to sell any more players” this summer as they have balanced the books thanks to Douglas Luiz’s move to Juventus.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham are long-term admirers of Jacob Ramsey

Tottenham are thought to have asked about the availability of Ramsey previously (The Athletic).

However, a report from The Telegraph claimed Spurs would be priced out of a move for the young midfielder, and that the player himself was eager to stay at Villa Park.

Ramsey endured a difficult campaign with Villa last season, with injuries limiting him to just 21 appearances in all competitions. He registered just one goal and two assists (Transfermarkt).

The Villa academy graduate had a real breakthrough season in 2022/23, though, where he scored six goals and registered eight assists in 38 appearances (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Villa fans seem to think this is us lowballing them, but it’s not a bad offer at all, really.

Considering Jacob Ramsey’s injury issues, and the fact he’s not quite a top-level player yet, either, I’m not entirely convinced we should be looking at signing him.

Report: What will Montgomery and Raimundo bring to Spurs?

Description

Tottenham Hotspur will have two new coaches next season, with Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo joining Ange Postecoglou’s team. Here’s what we can expect from the pair, as well as Postecoglou’s praise for Montgomery in the past.

Who are Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo?

With the departure of former Senior Assistant Coach, Chris Davies, this summer, Matt Wells has earned a promotion. Alongside this, both Montgomery and Raimundo are stepping in as general Assistant Coaches, and it is thought the duo will bring discipline and a hardworking energy to the set-up at Spurs.

That’s according to an article from Football.London, which touches on Montgomery and Raimundo’s previous work at Central Coast Mariners and Hibernian.

Apparently, Postecoglou will see the pair as “like-minded coaches” who match the work rate he requires from everyone involved in training sessions at the club. Postecoglou is keen to “keep the players on their toes” during the sessions, and the new coaches will have no trouble doing this.

MORE SPURS STORIES

What do Montgomery and Raimundo offer Spurs?

When he first took over at Spurs last summer, Postecoglou spoke highly of Montgomery for his achievements in Australia.

He said: “Nick has done brilliantly in Australia. He did a fantastic job at a club that it is fair to say in Australia is not considered one of the big ones and won the whole thing last year. He has done it in a great way where he has developed young players and great he gets the opportunity.”

Interestingly, Raimundo is a former military man, who also had the same mentor as Jose Mourinho, Professor Manuel Sergio, who believed psychology was just as important as actual physical coaching.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like we’ve got a pair of coaches here who tie in perfectly with Postecoglou’s philosophy, and they will really get the players working in training.

They will likely have a great connection with Postecoglou, too, which is always important.

Fabrizio Romano plays down Tottenham transfer rumour

Emerson Royal has been widely linked with an exit from Spurs with the club having been linked with various replacements.

Tottenham could be on the look out for a new right-back this summer

Fabrizio Romano revealed over a month ago on X that Brazilian right-back, Emerson Royal, was ‘one of many players’ expected to leave Spurs in the summer.

The player himself has even acknowledged Milan’s interest explaining ‘I know Milan are in contact with Tottenham, they asked about me’. (Gazzetta Dello Sport)

Speaking to Caught Offside on Wednesday (26/6/24), Fabrizio Romano, has confirmed that fellow Brazilian right-back, Vanderson, ‘is someone they are showing an interest in, in case Emerson Royal leaves the club’.

Another player that is reportedly of interest should Emerson depart is Manchester City’s, Yan Couto, with The Sun stating that ‘Tottenham are lining up a swoop for Manchester City right-back Yan Couto’, with the report claiming the Premier League champions are seeking ‘£40 million’.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Fabrizio Romano plays down Yan Couto to Tottenham reports

Couto, who has enjoyed a memorable spell on loan at City’s sister club, Girona, hasn’t kicked a ball for The Citizens since joining from Coritiba in 2020 for a fee of around €6 million (£5 million) (TransferMarkt). Although The Sun report that Guardiola’s side are already ‘looking to cash in on him’.

Fabrizio Romano admitted when talking to Caught Offside that he isn’t aware of ‘anything concrete on that story’, the journalist did explain that Spurs are looking to sign ‘a backup’ for right-back and he understands Couto to be ‘more of a starter than a rotation player’ should he be moved on.

The report did confirm that ‘the plan remained or changes to be made at right-back’, but after such an impressive previous campaign for Spaniard, Pedro Porro, it’s highly unlikely for Postecoglou to promise a new signing that he would become the team’s new first choice in that role.

Romano said: “I’m also aware there have been some rumours about Yan Couto, but I’m not aware of anything concrete on that story, let’s wait and see what happens.

“However, as Tottenham have Pedro Porro as their first choice, they want to sign a backup option for that position, and I see Couto as someone who would be more of a starter than a rotation player.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Pedro Porro was one of the standouts performers of the previous season for me, his range and quality of passing eased the creative pain when Maddison was absent and was one of Postecoglou’s most consistent performers last season.

With Emerson looking likely to depart, a replacement is needed although I would prefer to see an option signed that is young and hungry with it taking them a season or so to be really in contention to take Porro’s spot away from him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It appears that although Couto does fulfil some of those requirements, his expectation of game time would make his signing seemingly difficult.

Striker asked about potential summer move amid Spurs links

Description

Ivan Toney has decided to keep his cards close to his chest when asked about a summer transfer, insisting that he will let his representatives sort out his future.

Spurs are being linked with a move for Ivan Toney

With Toney now having just a year left on his contract, one would have expected the striker to be one of the most sought-after players of the summer transfer window.

However, that does not appear to be the case, with various reports indicating over recent weeks that the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea have cooled their interest, with only Tottenham and West Ham thought to be plotting a move for the 28-year-old (Football Insider).

Even that has been contradicted by some sources, with Football.London’s Alasdair Gold claiming on Tuesday that Spurs have played down suggestions of a potential move for the England international.

It remains to be seen where Toney ends up this summer but Brentford boss Thomas Frank did admit last week that the Bees are prepared for the possibility of losing their star man (BBC’s Football Daily Podcast via The Standard).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ivan Toney will wait and see this summer

When asked about the Danish coach’s comments, Toney has now told BBC Sport: “I didn’t hear him say that. I can’t predict the future and if I could I wouldn’t be sat here in front of you guys. What will be will be and my main focus is playing well and doing well for my country.

“I’ve been through it [transfer speculation] before. There’s been lots of talk of me going here, there and everywhere before in my career and I just don’t let outside noise get to me.

“I’m here with England now, and the main focus is doing well for England and whatever happens, happens. I can’t control it. From 18 when I was supposed to go to Wolves and I was all excited and getting involved in all of it, then it didn’t happen, it hurt me.

“So since then, I thought ‘why am I trying to take control of things when I don’t need that pressure?’ I just let people who take care of those things to do it and I focus on the pitch.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be extremely surprised if a few top Premier League sides do not make an approach for the 28-year-old later in the transfer window.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham remain open to the possibility of offloading Richarlison this summer if a big enough offer comes their way.

Richarlison suffered from injuries last season

Richarlison has had an injury-hit campaign, having had multiple spells on the treatment table but since December, the striker has impressed almost every single time he has played and boasts of an impressive goals-to-games ratio in 2023-24.

However, despite this, there were plenty of rumours earlier in the summer suggesting that he could be on his way out of Hotspur Way, with Saudi Arabian sides backed to make an offer for him (The Standard)

The speculation has died down recently after the forward himself rubbished talks of an exit last month, describing the rumours as ‘fake news’ and insisting that he remains happy at Spurs (beIN SPORTS).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham’s stance on Richarlison has not changed

While reporting on Spurs’ quest for a new number nine in his latest column, Gold has said that Richarlison’s future at North London is far from secure.

The journalist claims that as a result of the Brazilian’s struggles to remain fit last season, Tottenham remain open to listening to any serious offers that come in for him this summer.

Gold points out that the cash raised from the 27-year-old’s sale could be reinvested in new big-money acquisitions such as Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

Spurs Web Opinion

Now that Richarlison has made it clear that he is not willing to move to Saudi Arabia, I do not see him leaving Spurs.

No one else apart from Saudi clubs is going to offer £50m or more for the Brazil international this summer and I doubt Tottenham would sell him for a lower fee.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sign a new striker this summer, but while fans wait for a big-name signing, a young forward is ready to finalise his move to the club soon.

George Feeney ready to sign on the dotted line

After months of monitoring and speculation, Tottenham are now expected to confirm the signing of George Feeney in the immediate future, after beating competition from a number of other Premier League clubs.

That’s according to a report from Football.London, which claims Brighton, Brentford, West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest were all in pursuit of the 16-year-old.

Feeney will arrive in North London next week and “will be announced in the coming intake of new academy scholars” for the coming season. That list of players is usually revealed publicly in early July.

He will join from Glentoran, “for a fee that is expected to include add-ons to benefit” Glentoran, though the exact details of the deal are still unknown.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Who is George Feeney? The new Spurs starlet

Described as a “pacey, clinical young striker,” Feeney was in and around the Glentoran first-team last season, despite being so young.

Feeney has been linked with Tottenham as far back as November 2023 (BBC Sport). Last month, that interest took a step in the right direction, with Spurs believed to be putting the finishing touches to a deal to sign the youngster (Football Insider).

This move aligns with Tottenham’s desire to bring in the best emerging talent in world football as per Johan Lange.

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s exciting that we are signing such a highly rated and talented young striker like George Feeney, and he could be a great asset for us in the years to come.

But, I am a little bit concerned that we keep signing these young strikers, with no clear path to the first team for the likes of Will Lankshear and Dane Scarlett.

Tottenham might not have things their own way in their pursuit of Jonathan David, with reports now emerging that Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli are plotting a move for the Lille star.

Jonathan David continues to be linked with Spurs

Many sources have reported over the last few days that Tottenham hold a serious interest in David, who is thought to be available for a cut-price fee after entering the final year of his contract with Lille (Football.London).

It was reported by Football Insider on Monday that Spurs had already reached out to the striker’s representatives over a potential summer switch to N17.

The report named the Lilywhites and Chelsea as the two leading contenders for the player’s signature, with the Blues also said to have spoken to the 24-year-old’s entourage.

In addition to those two sides, some sources have suggested over the last few days that the Lille star is also on the radars of both West Ham and Man Utd (BBC Sport).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Saudi interest in Jonathan David

It now turns out that Spurs might also have to see off competition from the Middle East to land David this summer.

Sports Zone are now reporting that Al-Ahli are keen to bolster their forward line before the new campaign and are ready to press ahead with a move for the Canadian international.

In fact, the publication adds that the Saudi Pro League side have made David one of ‘their priorities’ this summer, knowing that Lille would have to cash in on the player to offset their losses.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham and the other Premier League suitors would be hoping that David would not want to move to the Saudi league at this stage of his career.

However, Al-Ahli are well capable of making a contract offer that the 24-year-old cannot refuse.

Description

Tottenham’s pursuit of Nico Williams might just have got a lot harder, with reports indicating that Arsenal and Chelsea are now ready to make their moves for the Athletic Club Bilbao star.

The race for Nico Williams is hotting up

This report comes from CaughtOffside, who claim that Williams’ suitors are growing by the day, with Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain thought to have previously expressed an interest in the striker.

The report adds that those sides have now been joined in the race for the 21-year-old by both Arsenal and Chelsea, with the Gunners allegedly even willing to meet the player’s €58m (£49m) release clause.

It is explained that Mikel Arteta wants the Spain international to offer competition to Gabriel Marteneli and Tottenham’s North London rivals might thus be prepared to spend big on the attacker.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea all like Nico Williams

Meanwhile, CaughtOffside add that there are doubts over whether Chelsea would be able to afford Williams’ release clause but the Blues are currently thought to be very much in the race for the winger’s signature.

Williams is currently starring for Spain at the European Championships this summer, with his nation winning three out of three group-stage matches.

Tottenham have already signed Timo Werner on a 12-month loan to strengthen their roster of wingers this summer, but appear to be on the lookout for more firepower.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham were always going to have to overcome plenty of competition to land Williams this summer.

The fact that so many clubs have made advances for the winger perhaps suggests that despite the 21-year-old publicly declaring his intention to stay at Bilbao, his representatives have communicated an openness to a summer transfer.
