It turns out that Tottenham might have to deal with additional competition for Tammy Abraham, with Il Tempo (as relayed by Roma Press) now reporting that AC Milan are eyeing a move for the Roma star.

Tammy Abraham is being linked with Tottenham

A number of outlets have suggested over the last few weeks that Abraham could be set for a return to the Premier League this summer, with Tottenham named as a potential destination for the centre-forward.

The latest to make that claim was GiveMeSport, who reported a few days ago that while Abraham is not at the top of Ange Postecoglou’s striker wishlist, Spurs could make a move for him later in the window.

It was explained that the fact that the 26-year-old is homegrown and has Premier League experience appeals to Ange Postecoglou’s side, who might pursue him if their pursuits of Ivan Toney and Santiago Gimenez fall through.

The report claimed that Tottenham might face competition from the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa for the former Chelsea star’s services.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Is moving to Milan on the cards for Abraham?

According to Il Tempo’s latest update, Milan have now also emerged as a contender for Abraham’s signature.

The report says that the striker is certain to leave the Stadio Olimpico this summer and his representatives have now offered him to the Rossoneri.

At the moment, Milan are said to be focused on landing Joshua Zirkzee but with the negotiations for the Bologna star proving difficult, it is said that they could turn their attention to Abraham.

Spurs Web Opinion

Abraham would be an extremely underwhelming signing for Tottenham, even if he is signed as a squad player.

There is very little evidence to suggest that the 26-year-old is good enough to lead the line for a club with Champions League aspirations.

Fabrizio Romano says Man United could make another move for Spurs target

Description

Fabrizio Romano says that Manchester United have not yet abandoned their pursuit of Tottenham target Jarrad Branthwaite despite Everton turning down their opening offer for the centre-back.

Spurs and Man United both linked with Jarrad Branthwaite

Man Utd and Tottenham are the two clubs who have been mooted as potential destinations for Brathwaite this summer on the back of his impressive debut Premier League season.

The Daily Mail were one of several outlets who have stated over recent months that Everton were bracing themselves for offers for the 21-year-old as Spurs and the Red Devils circled over the defender.

However, it was revealed by journalist Dharmesh Sheth on Sky Sports last week that the Red Devils were ready to abandon their pursuit of Branthwaite after seeing their opening offer of £35m plus £8m in add-ons being turned down by Sean Dyhce’s men.

Just a few days ago, former Tottenham right-back Alan Hutton told Football Insider that his sources at Spurs had informed him that Ange Postecoglou’s men could make a surprise move for the Toffees youngster over the coming weeks.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Man United could return with another Branthwaite bid

Romano has now offered an update on Branthwaite’s future, stating that Man Utd will hold international discussions about a move for the player and revealing that the England international wants to make a switch to Old Trafford this summer.

The journalist has told GiveMeSport: “This upcoming week, Manchester United internally will discuss again about what they want to do with Jarrad Branthwaite. The player keeps waiting for Manchester United.

“He keeps believing that Manchester United is a fantastic option for his future, so he wants to go to Manchester United. But it also depends on Everton.

“We have to see if Everton will change the conditions of the deal, because for £70m, United are not going for Branthwaite. So, it has to be something different in terms of the package and we will see what happens.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Everton were to drop their asking price to around £40m-£50m, I still do not see Tottenham getting involved in the race for Branthwaite.

I also do not think the 21-year-old would be particularly keen on a move to Spurs as he would know that he will not be a regular starter at the club.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur have now begun work on selling Emerson Royal and replacing the Brazilian with a new right-back.

Tottenham want to sell Emerson Royal

There is still plenty of work to do this summer in terms of both incomings and outgoings for Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou continues to put his imprint on the squad ahead of his second season in charge.

Football Insider have claimed that the two deals the Lilywhites are currently working on are Emerson’s sale and a deal for a new right-back to serve as Pedro Porro’s understudy.

The report reveals that the Lilywhites are holding out for £20m for the Brazilian, having commenced talks with AC Molan regarding the sale.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs want a new right-back this summer

While Spurs want to offload the 25-year-old permanently, it is alleged that Milan are exploring multiple options including a loan to buy this summer.

According to the update, Tottenham are drafting plans to reinvest the money from Emerson’s sale on a new young right-back, who has the potential to develop under Postecoglou.

The publication backs up what we have heard from various other sources over recent weeks by stating that the North London club are continuing to keep tabs on Leeds United sensation Archie Gray.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spending around £40m or more on Gray would only make sense for Tottenham if Postecoglou views the youngster as someone who can slot into midfield in the future rather than as just a backup to Porro.

If it is a right-back cover that Ange is looking for, moves for one of Vanderson or Lutsharel Geertruida would make more sense for Spurs.

Pundit says one Tottenham star gets a lot of underserved criticism

Description

Former Crystal Palace star Darren Ambrose has come to the defence of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, opining that the midfielder gets a lot of unwarranted criticism from Tottenham fans.

Hojbjerg is expected to leave Tottenham this summer

There is always at least one player at each club who divides opinion among the club’s fans and there is no doubt that Hojbjerg is that man at Tottenham.

Going by the discourse on social media, it is clear that some fans see him as an extremely competent midfielder who can be very useful in the right system while others feel that he is holding Tottenham back and does not belong at this level.

However, even Hojbjerg’s biggest critics would have to concede that the 28-year-old tends to deliver more often than not in a Denmark shirt, being a crucial part of the Dane’s recent success in the major tournaments.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Does Hojbjerg get too much stick from Spurs fans?

That has been true of Euro 2024 as well, with the Tottenham man producing solid displays for Kasper Hjulmand’s men in the middle of the park.

Ambrose has now said about the former Southampton man to talkSPORT: “He gets a lot of stick, or he has got a lot of stick for Spurs. I think he is a good player and I think he performs when he needs to. He is passionate as well.

“We have seen some of the celebrations when he clears one off the line. He loves it. And, like you (Majestic) said, they (Denmark) play him a little bit further forward, and I think that could suit him quite well.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I think the discourse around Hojbjerg and many others shows all that is wrong with how fans perceive players.

It seems in the social media era that every player who is not up there with the creme de la creme is branded as ‘shocking’ or ‘useless’.

The reality is that there is actually not a lot between individual players at the highest level and no footballer who makes it to the top end of the Premier League is ‘useless’.

Description

According to TBR Football, Tottenham Hotspur have now made some advances towards Eberechi Eze by launching an enquiry over a deal for the Crystal Palace midfielder.

Eberechi Eze has been linked with a move to Spurs

Eze has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over the last few weeks, with several outlets suggesting that the Palace star has emerged as one of the North London club’s top transfer targets.

This includes an update by Football Transfers last week, which stated that the Lilywhites could soon meet with the Eagles hierarchy to discuss a deal for the England international.

TBR Football have reported that even though Eze is currently at the Euros, Spurs have now reached out to Palace to enquire about a deal for the player.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs launch an enquiry for Eberechi Eze

The outlet claims that Ange Postecoglou is a fan of the attacker’s versatile skillset while the 25-year-old is open to the idea of moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The publication backs up what has been reported by other sources over recent weeks by stating that Spurs would have to meet the midfielder’s release clause, which stands at over £60m.

The report also adds that Tottenham will not have a free run at Eze and are expected to face ‘strong competition’ from the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal, who have all checked in on the former QPR star over recent months.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on what we have heard from several outlets over the last few weeks regarding Postecoglou’s admiration for Eze, it sounds like the Palace star is the one player that Tottenham might be willing to break the bank for this summer.

Spurs would likely have to spend a club-record fee to land the 25-year-old as I cannot see the Eagles letting him go unless his release clause is met, particularly given that they are about to lose Michael Olise.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are set to welcome two new coaches as Ange Postecoglou looks to build his backroom staff back up following the departure of Chris Davies, and he just promoted one coach to be his new assistant.

Matt Wells steps up to replace Chris Davies

The club has today announced that Matt Wells, who was previously employed as a general Assistant Coach, will now become Postecoglou‘s Senior Assistant at Spurs for the 2024/25 campaign.

Davies, who was appointed Senior Assistant last summer upon Postecoglou’s arrival, has taken the Birmingham City manager role this summer.

On Wells’ step up, Postecoglou said: “I’m delighted that Matt has been appointed Senior Assistant Coach. He’s an outstanding young coach who has a great work ethic and attention to detail. He thoroughly deserves this opportunity.”

Spurs hire two new coaches

It is also confirmed that both Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo will join the coaching staff in North London as Assistant Coaches. The pair worked together at Hibernian at Central Coast Mariners.

On their appointment, Postecoglou said: “It’s also great to have Nick and Sergio join the Club, and they will add to the talented coaches we already have on the staff here.

“Both Nick and Sergio have a wealth of coaching experience over a number of years. They have already demonstrated a strong desire to both develop young talent and implement a football style that I believe will further strengthen the environment we have established. I’m looking forward to working with them.”

The rest of the coaching staff is now made up on Ryan Mason (Assistant Coach), Mile Jedinak (Assistant Coach) and Rob Burch (Goalkeeping Coach).

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s great to see the club get that backroom setup sorted quickly ahead of pre-season, and Ange Postecoglou sounds really happy with the team he’s got around him now.

Declan Rice has given a ringing endorsement of Conor Gallagher, admitting that the rumoured Tottenham target has surprised everyone at the England camp with the way he has performed.

Spurs have been looking at Gallagher for a while

Gallagher has been mooted as a target for Spurs for the last 12 months, with some sources suggesting that Ange Postecoglou had identified the midfielder as a priority target as soon as he arrived at Hotspur Way last summer (Fabrizio Romano – GiveMeSport).

The Lilywhites might have felt that this summer is their opportunity to secure the England international’s services, given that he is down the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

However, over the last couple of weeks, a number of outlets have suggested that the 24-year-old does not want to leave his boyhood club this summer and Chelsea are now open to offering him a new contract (HITC).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Declan Rice is a big fan of Conor Gallagher

Tottenham may have their work cut out to land Gallagher but Rice’s latest admission about the Blues star perhaps sheds a light on why Postecoglou is so keen on bringing the player to Spurs.

The Arsenal man said about his England midfield partner to talkSPORT: “Look, obviously you’ve seen Conor Gallagher’s season this year at Chelsea and if he does start I think you’re going to see exactly what he done at Chelsea this year.

“He surprised a lot of people. On the ball, off the ball, what he gives for the team, how unselfish he is. I know Gareth loves him. Equally as much he loves Trent as well and he loves all the other midfield players he can pick from.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Gallagher very much seems to be a player’s player, with his fellow professionals rating him much higher than the fans do, which is perhaps because of his selfless style of play.

However, it looks like Tottenham might have to turn their attention to other alternatives, with the 24-year-old seemingly keen on remaining at Chelsea.

Report: Tottenham refuse to offer a discount on player this summer despite interest

Description

According to a report in La Repubblica (as relayed by CalcioGirona), Tottenham Hotspur have refused to give any sort of discount to Genoa for Djed Spence, thus putting the move in jeopardy.

Genoa were in talks with Spurs over Spence deal

It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Genoa had been locked in talks with Spurs over the permanent signing of Spence on the back of the right-back’s successful loan spell at the club during the second half of last season.

It had even been suggested by GiveMeSport last week that it was only a matter of time before the deal was concluded as the two clubs were nearing an agreement.

However, it was reported by journalist Sacha Tavolieri on Sunday that a transfer had hit a roadblock as Tottenham insisted that they want at least €7m (£6m) for the right back, which Alberto Gilardino’s side are not willing to pay.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs refuse to offer a discount on Djed Spence

La Repubblica have now asserted that the Premier League side are sticking by the €10m (£8.4m) valuation, which was the value of the option to buy in Genoa’s loan deal for Spence.

The report says that the North London club are not in the mood to give the Italian side any ‘discounts’, which is why a deal might now be off.

The publication asserts that Genoa are now concentrating on other alternatives, including Napoli right-back Alessandro Zanoli, who’s believed to be available for a cheaper price.

Spurs Web Opinion

Some Premier League clubs might have reached out to Tottenham regarding a deal for Spence over recent weeks, which might be why Spurs have hardened their stance and refused to sell the former Middlesbrough man to Genoa for a discounted fee.

It’s not like Spurs are asking for a huge fee, so I’m not surprised they are unwilling to let him go for a bargain price.

Description

Journalist Mario Tenerani has said that Tottenham Hotspur have already submitted a sizeable proposal to sign Michael Kayode and the Premier League side would be willing to go even higher to get their hands on the Fiorentina youngster.

Tottenham are keen on Michael Kayode

If you have followed Spurs Web’s coverage, you would know that a number of Italian outlets have talked up Tottenham’s interest in Kayode over the last week.

It began when TuttoMercatoWeb first reported that Spurs see parallels between the 19-year-old and Destiny Udogie and are now plotting a move for the young right-back.

Corriere Fiorentino (via Sport Witness) then claimed on Monday that Tottenham’s interest in the Italy Under-21 international is serious and that Fiorentina face a major dilemma as while they wish to hold on to the talented youngster, they also need to raise cash to offset their loses.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs submit a bid of £33.8m for Kayode

Tenerani has now asserted that Ange Postecoglou’s men have already offered €40m (£33.8m) for Kayode which the Viola have not accepted but he added that the Premier League side may be ready to increase their bid.

The journalist wrote in his column for Firenze Viola: “Tottenham’s pressure on Kayode could turn into a nightmare for Viola supporters. The English are serious and have significant economic possibilities.

“They started from €40m and for now Fiorentina have resisted, but if they were to go further the picture could change suddenly.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the reports over the last few weeks, it feels like Tottenham are now stepping up their pursuit of a right-back, perhaps because Emerson Royal is nearing an exit.

It seems like Spurs have several irons in the fire at once, with the club appearing to have made approaches for Kayode, Archie Gray, Vanderson and Lutsharel Geertruida.

According to Tuttosport, the race for Tottenham target Giovanni Leoni is now intensifying, with a number of clubs from Italy and abroad expressing interest after learning of his availability.

Tottenham are interested in Giovanni Leoni

Over the last week, several Italian outlets have reported that Sampdoria, who triggered the €1.5m buy option to buy Leoni on the back of his loan spell at the club last season, are now ready to sell him on for a profit.

This claim was made most recently by Fabrizio Romano, who revealed that Tottenham were one of the clubs plotting a move to sign the 18-year-old.

Spurs have made a habit of signing young starlets and loaning them back to their original clubs in recent years, with success stories including Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Race now heating up for Giovanni Leoni

TuttoSport have now also credited Tottenham with an interest in Leoni and they say that the Lilywhites have to contend with competition from the likes of Inter Milan, Napoli, Torino and AC Monaco for the player.

The report says that Ange Postecoglou’s men have already sought information about the centre-back and they have learnt that Sampdoria would be willing to sell the youngster for €5m-€6m (£4.2m-£5m).

However, the publication explains that the Serie B side would ideally want the defender to be loaned back to them for next season.

Spurs Web Opinion

This deal has Fabio Paratici written all over it and I would not be surprised if Tottenham decided to take a punt on Leoni and loaned him back to Sampdoria, just as they have done with the likes of Pape Sarr, Destiny Udogie and Luka Vuskovic.

This really could be one to keep an eye on over the coming weeks for Spurs.
