Description

Tottenham Hotspur have revealed their new away kit for the 2024/25 campaign, and the promotional video for the release includes a hidden message that may hint at the club’s ambitions for the coming season.

Spurs want to make it to Europa League final

The kit reveal video shared by the club stars the likes of Pape Sarr, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin, and Pedro Porro, as well as Tottenham Women’s stars, Celin Bizet and Martha Thomas.

Eagle-eyed viewers have spotted a little Easter egg in the video, with 90Min editor Sean Walsh pointing out a reference to the 2025 Europa League final at the end of the clip.

As the video wraps up, the message “Holiday special: Destination Bilbao, Spain” shows up on screen.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bilbao is the host of the Europa League final for the upcoming campaign, and Spurs are of course involved in the competition again this season.

Can Tottenham win the Europa League this season?

Naturally, Ange Postecoglou and his Lilywhites will be targeting success on every front next year, but it seems the Europa League could well be a key goal for the club judging by this little secret message.

Spurs secured a Europa League spot thanks to their fifth-placed finish in the Premier League last season. They will find out who they are drawn against in the competition’s new league format on August 30.

They will play eight games as part of a 32-team league, before (hopefully) progressing to the knockout stages, with the final in Bilbao taking place on May 21, 2025.

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s an interesting little message in the video there, but it should come as no surprise that Spurs are eager to be in that Europa League final.

We know Postecoglou demands success, and the Europa League presents us with a great opportunity to win a trophy next season.

It will be a welcome return to see the club back in European action and having a busier fixture schedule compared to the measly 41 games played across all competitions last season.

Description

Micky van de Ven is currently away on international duty with the Netherlands for Euro 2024, but he very nearly suffered an injury in training after a former Spurs player put in a dangerous tackle on the young defender.

Van de Ven angry with Steven Bergwijn

They may not have crossed paths at Tottenham, but van de Ven and Steven Bergwijn have shared the pitch for their country and spend plenty of time in training together.

As per Dutch media outlet, FC Update, reporter Noa Vahle said of the situation: “He went all out on Micky van de Ven’s ankle. I understand Micky’s reaction. Such an action will only cost you the European Championship. Steven Bergwijn has apologised.”

Apparently, van de Ven was left furious by the reckless challenge which could have ended his adventure at Euro 2024 very early. But, Bergwijn has said he’s sorry and the matter appears to be resolved.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Van de Ven will be hoping for Netherlands minutes

Van de Ven suffered a serious hamstring injury back in November of last year and ended up missing almost three months of his first season with Spurs.

However, he came back strong and put in a string of impressive displays across his 29 appearances, scoring three goals and claiming Tottenham’s Player of the Season award.

He has played just three minutes for the Netherlands at Euro 2024 so far, when he was put on the field in the dying moments of his country’s win over Poland, playing at left-back.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m glad Micky is alright, and hopefully, he can get some more minutes under his belt in that final group game against Austria tonight.

He deserves to be playing, and he should be at centre-back alongside Virgil van Dijk. That said, the Netherlands do have a very strong defensive roster, with lots of experience in there.

Tottenham are expected to be fairly busy in the transfer market this summer, and Darren Ambrose has highlighted one Premier League star that the Lilywhites would be wise to push ahead with a move for.

Crystal Palace will struggle to hold onto Eberechi Eze

Despite his ties to Crystal Palace, Darren Ambrose has highlighted Eberechi Eze as a target for Tottenham, and appeared to suggest the England international should consider a move to the Lilywhites.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, Ambrose said: “Another one, Eze. I know I am associated with Palace, but there’s an opportunity to get him at Spurs. Sensational.”

Spurs have been linked with Eze for a while now, and it has been suggested the club will be speaking to him very soon about a potential move this summer (Football Transfers).

It is thought a bid of £60m would be needed to prise Eze away from Palace (Football Insider).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Should Tottenham sign Eze this summer?

However, Palace are believed to be hopeful they can keep hold of the 26-year-old despite the attention he has attracted (GiveMeSport).

They will be particularly determined not to lose another star player this summer, with Michael Olise edging closer to a move to Bayern Munich (Sky Sports).

Eze is coming off the back of a fantastic season with Palace, where he scored 11 goals and registered six assists to help his club achieve a top-ten finish (Transfermarkt). He is currently on international duty with England at Euro 2024.

Spurs Web Opinion

I can’t see us getting Eze now this summer. The fact Palace look like they’re losing Olise is the issue, as they will surely not want, or need, to sell both of their star players.

From a Spurs perspective, I hope we can sign him. From a neutral perspective, it would be a shame to see Palace stripped of their assets after how impressive they looked last season.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has said that Santiago Gimenez is not a target for Tottenham this summer while Spurs have also played down suggestions about a potential move for Ivan Toney.

Spurs are not looking at Santiago Gimenez this summer

Toney and Gimenez have been the two strikers who have been most heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over the last few months.

In fact, just a few days ago, GiveMeSport suggested that the Feyenoord star remains at the top of Ange Postecoglou’s wishlist at the moment.

The report also claimed that Spurs are quite keen on Toney but are only willing to pay £45m for the England international while Brentford are demanding closer to £60m.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs are playing down Ivan Toney interest

Gold has now said that while Spurs have compiled a shortlist of strikers for the present and long term, Gimenez is not on that list.

He explains that while the Mexican was spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium towards the end of last season, he was a guest of an agent rather than invited by the club.

Gold also states that Tottenham have been quick to distance themselves from reports of a move for Toney at this stage of the transfer window.

Finally, the journalist adds that Bolonga’s Joshua Zirkzee is also not being considered by the Lilywhites at this point.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Richarlison now looking set to stay, it might be that a number nine is not as big a priority for Tottenham this summer as some outlets suggest.

Postecoglou might prefer signing a relatively low-cost centre-forward like Jonathan David and instead spend big on a top-class wide-forward.

According to Foot Mercato, Paris Saint-Germain have stepped up their effort to land Tottenham target Lutsharel Geertruida, having now made a contract offer to the Feyenoord star.

Spurs are interested in Lutsharel Geertruida

Geertruida has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over recent weeks and there have been some positive updates over recent days regarding Spurs’ chances of landing the right-back.

This includes an update by The Mirror on Sunday, which claimed that the Lilywhites had moved into pole position to land the Netherlands international after Liverpool showed some hesitation in pressing ahead with a move for the player.

It was then reported by L’Equipe that PSG had also entered the race for the versatile defender, having reached out to his entourage regarding a move.

PSG send contract offer to Geertruida

Foot Mercato have now backed up the Ligue 1 giants’ interest in Geertruida, stating that Luis Enrique is keen on bolstering his backline and has identified the Feyenoord star as his top target.

It is pointed out that it will not be easy for PSG to get their hands on the Dutchman since he is also wanted by Liverpool and Tottenham, with the French club potentially having to ‘break the bank’.

The report reveals that the Parisians have now already made an offer to the 23-year-old but the player is not expected to make a final decision on his future until the Euros are done.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am personally a little surprised that Spurs are not considering a move to re-sign Kyle Walker-Peters as not only would he be a good fit for Ange’s system but he would also help address the club’s shortage of homegrown and club-trained players.

Football Insider reveal that Tottenham Hotspur have now made contact with the representatives of Jonathan David about a summer transfer.

Tottenham are interested in Jonathan David

Over recent days, the speculation linking David with a move to Spurs has intensified, with various sources suggesting that the Lilywhites hold a genuine interest in the Lille star (Football.London).

However, Tottenham are not thought to be alone in their admiration of the 24-year-old, with a number of outlets suggesting that the likes of Man Utd, West Ham and Chelsea are also after the player (BBC Sport).

In fact, according to some sources, the Blues have already spoken to David and his entourage regarding a move to Stamford Bridge this summer (The Athletic).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs reach out to Jonathan David’s agent

If Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs have now also followed suit, making contact with the Canadian international’s agent to register their interest.

The report says that Ange Postecoglou is keen to add another forward to his squad to take the goalscoring burden off Richarlison and Son Heung-min, with David thought to have now been identified by the Australian as a target.

The publication adds that the former Gent man has been told by Lille that he can depart this summer if their valuation is met.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not surprising that Tottenham have got involved in the race rather than allowing Chelsea to have a free run at David.

At the moment, it sounds like the two London clubs are the ones at the front of the queue, battling it out for the 24-year-old’s signature.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur pulled out of the race to sign Juventus starlet Samuel Iling-Junior, who is now thought to be Aston Villa-bound.

Spurs were initially keeping an eye on Iling-Junior

While Iling-Junior impressed after breaking into Juve’s senior side during the 2022-23 season, he had a campaign to forget last term and is now expected to leave the Allianz Stadium.

Football Insider say that Spurs are fans of the Englishman, having watched him closely for a long time, with the Lilywhites even alleged to have held talks with the 20-year-old during the January window.

However, it is explained that Ange Postecoglou’s men decided not to push ahead with a move for the Bianconeri man and instead extend Timo Werner’s loan spell at the club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs will look for other forwards this summer

Once the Werner deal was clinched, Tottenham are thought to have pulled out of the race to sign Iling-Junior, who is now expected to head to Villa Park.

The report claims that the Chelsea academy graduate has agreed to join the Midlands club as part of a deal that will see Douglas Luiz head the other way to Turin.

However, Football Insider make it clear that Tottenham have not done strengthening their forward line just yet, with Postecoglou keen for another marquee forward to arrive through the door this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham were choosing between Iling-Junior and Werner, I understand why Ange would have preferred the latter, given the impact he had during his loan spell last season.

The Juve starlet has plenty of potential but he would have been one for the future rather than a player who could be expected to make an instant impact, given his lack of experience.

Alasdair Gold confirms Spurs have 'serious interest' in prolific striker

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur hold a genuine interest in Jonathan David, revealing that the North London club have had their eye on the Lille star for a long time.

Spurs have been watching Jonathan David for a long time

Over the last week, a number of outlets have named the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as a potential destination for David.

The Canadian striker is expected to depart Lille this summer as he enters the final year of his contract (Dharmesh Sheth).

However, over the last few days, it has emerged that Spurs are far from the only club after the 24-year-old, with Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham also thought to be circling David (BBC Sport).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Alasdair Gold confirms Spurs interest in David

Gold has now also confirmed that David’s name is indeed quite high on Ange Postecoglou’s striker shortlist (Football London).

The journalist states that the Lilywhites have been monitoring the Canadian international’s progress for some time and they hold a ‘serious interest’ in the former Gent man.

He also adds that since the striker just has a year left on his deal at Stade Pierre Mauroy, he is expected to be available for around £25m this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Among the various strikers who have been mooted as targets for Spurs over the last few months, David undoubtedly represents the best value for money, given the suggested price tag.

The Canadian is the sort of striker Ange prefers to lead his line and given his goalscoring pedigree in Ligue 1, I would be very surprised if Tottenham do not get involved in the race.

Report: Galatasaray set their sights on an ambitious deal for Spurs star

Description

Super Lig champions, Galatasaray are reportedly looking to add to the plethora of Premier League talent that they have acquired in recent years.

Galatasaray are after another Tottenham player

Galatasaray are attempting to continue their pattern of Premier League shopping which has led to their progression in recent years with recent additions of note being Wilfred Zaha as well as former Spurs players Tanguy Ndombele and Davinson Sanchez.

BeIN Sports has reported that Manchester United will be the next club to receive contact from Galatasaray with Aaron Wan-Bissaka being ‘the number one candidate at Galatasaray’ as they search for a new right-back as the club seek to fill the void Sacha Boey left when he departed for Bayern Munich in January.

Pierre Emile Hojbjerg has been a subject of interest for Galatasary too, with Turkish media outlet, Takvim, claiming that Galatasary are ‘waiting for the final decision of Hojbjerg, whom they want to add to their squad’.

Although, it seems as though Hojbjerg isn’t the only Tottenham midfielder that’s attracting interest from the yellow-reds.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bentancur is someone Galatasaray are interested in

Aspor in Turkey are reporting that Galatasary are seeking a ‘loan + buy option for this transfer’. The report continues claiming that Tottenham will consider a sale ‘if a good offer comes in’ with the Uruguayan’s deal expiring in two years.

Bentancur is reportedly ‘extremely positive about the interest of Galatasaray’ with claims that the factor of fellow Uruguayans, Lucas Torrieria and Fernando Muslera, is a larger attraction for Bentancur, although Turkish reports are characteristically optimistic about their teams in the media, especially regarding transfers.

The former Juventus and Boca Juniors midfielder has been involved in a large media stir recently due to his comments in an interview when he was asked about captain Heung Min-Son to which he suggested that all Koreans ‘look the same’.

Kick It Out, Tottenham, Son and Bentancur himself have all since released statements on the situation, condemning the 26-year-old’s actions, with the club stating, ‘We fully support that our captain Sonny feels that he can draw a line under the incident and that the team can focus on the new season ahead’. (The Guardian)

Spurs Web Opinion

The recent controversial remarks that have been widely, and rightly so, criticised, make Bentancur perhaps more likely to leave the club, especially if Spurs do decide to act upon their reported interest in Connor Gallagher.

However, with two years remaining on his deal and the controversy being acknowledged and responded to by Heung Min-Son, it seems unlikely that Bentancur would be so willing to step out of Europe’s so-called ‘top five leagues’ at the age of 26.

Report: Spurs midfielder has 'many offers' despite being underused last season

Description

Tottenham are set to reap the rewards one way or another after Giovani Lo Celso impresses his nation’s media due to his recent form for Argentina.

Lo Celso’s Tottenham future remains unclear

Rumours of Giovanni Lo Celso leaving the club started to swirl around in April, with Spanish news outlets claiming the midfielder could possibly return to the club Tottenham brought him from, Real Betis.

It was stated that Lo Celso has ‘maintained contacts with the leaders of the club’ and would ‘be willing to return if they give them [Real Betis] the right conditions’ (Estadio Deportivo).

Manager, Ange Postecoglou, had his say in a press conference also in April of this year, claiming that Lo Celso ‘has been good for us’ although admitting there have been ‘injury disruptions’, further adding ‘if it is not Gio, someone else will have to play that role. No one will play every game. It doesn’t happen’ (Football.London).

Postecoglou’s closing statement that’s quoted above doesn’t exactly sound as if the Australian will be willing to go to great lengths to keep the 28-year-old.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This was reflected by a Football Insider report that claims ‘Tottenham have told Lo Celso he is free to find a new club this summer’ with Spurs willing to accept a ‘cut-price fee’ due to the player’s current deal expiring next summer (Football.Insider).

Tottenham are not giving Lo Celso ‘the continuity he deserves’

Argentinian media outlet, Olé, published a feature piece on Lo Celso with the piece stating that ‘his ability to play, to know how to play and make play is valued’, later going on to praise the Tottenham midfielder who has ‘one of the most appearances’ under World Cup winning manager, Lionel Scaloni (Olé).

Lo Celso hasn’t enjoyed as much game time at club level, however, experiencing only 494 league minutes this season (TransferMarkt).

Olé were critical of Spurs’ reluctancy to use Lo Celso in their feature, claiming that he ‘does not have the continuity that he deserves’ at Tottenham.

Fans will be quick to point at his injury record as an explanation for the lack of continuity however, with Giovanni missing 14 games this season due to injury which is worryingly one of his better injury records for a season in his time at Spurs (TransferMarkt).

In La Albiceleste’s famous blue and white stripes, Lo Celso has a record of shining in. It was a blow to him and his nation that he suffered an injury that meant he couldn’t play in the team’s recent World Cup victory.

However, now he is back in the fold and bidding for Copa America success, clearly enjoying the opportunity to play on one of the biggest stages, explaining to Ole that ‘wearing these colours is priceless’.

Lo Celso has now racked up 53 caps for his country, netting 3 times as well as assisting 14 goals. (TransferMarkt)

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s undeniable that Lo Celso possesses plenty of talent, with Spurs fans often harking back to the now 28-year-old’s impressive debut campaign for the club which made the board inclined to purchase the player permanently.

However, since then it’s been a story of frustration and tension between Lo Celso and Spurs with the player frequently being sent out on loans as well as enduring plenty of injuries which have made him unavailable for the majority of his Tottenham career.

Lo Celso performing at the Copa America and impressing for his country should be news that is welcomed by Tottenham fans with it only meaning the former PSG midfielder drives up his value for a potential summer sale or finds some form for the upcoming season.
