Description

After battling it out for fourth place, it seems the contest between Spurs and Aston Villa has bled into the transfer market with both clubs reportedly interested in promising 19-year-old Fiorentina right-back.

Postecoglou looking to replace Emerson at right-back

Emerson Royal continues to appear as one of the most likely exits out of Hotspur Way this summer.

The rumour mill was started by Fabrizio Romano a number of weeks ago as he claimed that AC Milan are seeking a new right-back this summer with Emerson being ‘high on their list’, further stating that the Brazilian is ‘one of many players expected to leave THFC this summer’ (Fabrizio Romano).

The exit door is reportedly widening now for Emerson as La Gazzetta Dello Sport in Italy has claimed that Emerson has reached ‘an agreement in principle for a contract’ with the player himself stating ‘I know Milan are in contact with Tottenham, they asked about me’ (La Gazzetta Dello Sport).

Spurs are also reportedly interested in Vanderson of AS Monaco. Fabrizio Romano stated a week ago that ‘Tottenham are showing interest in Monaco right-back Vanderson’.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Corriere Del Mezzoiorno also revealed on Sunday (23/6/24) that Tottenham have ‘priced the player’ with an ‘auction looming’. The expected price the Ligue 1 side are looking for is rumoured to be around £25.4m (Corriere Del Mezzoiorno).

Tottenham are ‘huge admirers’ of Kayode

An alternative option to Vanderson, if Emerson departs, is reportedly Michael Kayode of Italian side, Fiorentina. HITC report however that Unai Emery’s, Aston Villa, have ‘opened talks’ to sign the right-back who is rumoured to be valued at ‘£25 million’.

The full-back who was formerly at Juventus’ academy, much like Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin, has broken through to La Viola’s first team this season and immediately became a permanent fixture in the team.

He made 37 appearances this season, with 6 of those being in the UEFA Conference League where his team reached the final for the second successive season (TransferMarkt).

HITC reports that not only have Tottenham and Aston Villa been keeping an eye on the young Italian this season, but ‘Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham’ have also scouted Kayode.

Whatever club secures Kayode’s signature is, however, likely to be in the hands of AC Milan, with the Italian giants being interested in Aston Villa’s Matty Cash, as well as Emerson Royal as reported above.

Spurs Web Opinion:

As many fans have hoped, it appears that this summer we may finally be experiencing a major squad clear-out, with Emerson Royal likely being one of the first to leave.

It’s been clear for some time now that Emerson doesn’t play his role at right-back with the pace or dynamism that is required to succeed in that position under Ange Postecoglou.

Kayode and Vanderson suggest that Tottenham are looking for a younger, hungry profile of player to provide competition for Pedro Porro.

This makes sense with Porro being consistent and likely to help guide the apprentice into how to perform his role and there is obviously a precedent for young Italian fullbacks from Serie A succeeding at Spurs with Destiny Udogie being one of the standout stars of this season.

Description

Alan Hutton has said that his sources have informed him that Tottenham could complete a sensational swoop for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.

Tottenham have been keeping an eye on Branthwaite

Most people will not be surprised that Branthwaite is being linked with a move away from Goodison Park, given the standard of performances he delivered consistently last season.

The 21-year-old may consider himself unlucky to have missed out on the final 26-man England squad for the Euros, but one would expect him to be a key part of the Three Lions outfit for many years to come.

Over the last couple of months, it has been widely reported that the Toffees are bracing themselves for offers for the centre-back as both Man Utd and Spurs circle over him (Daily Mail).

However, it was revealed by journalist Dharmesh Sheth on Sky Sports last week that the Red Devils were ready to abandon their pursuit of Branthwaite after seeing their opening offer of £35m plus £8m in add-ons being turned down by Sean Dyhce’s men.

Alan Hutton suggests Spurs could swoop for Branthwaite

Hutton has now revealed that he has heard that the Lilywhites could now hijack the deal and look to bring the Everton starlet to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

The former Spurs right-back told Football Insider: “I feel at times [Tottenham] have been light in that sense, actually across the back four.

“When you look at their starting back line, if any of them get injured or go missing for a good length of time, the players that come in aren’t quite up to the standard.

“To have someone in the door with that potential who could be a regular starter for England moving forward, that could be a great deal.

“He did really well last season, and there are talks [Cristian] Romero could be on the move, so there are a few things in the pipeline that might lead towards them going for someone like [Branthwaite], and him filling that void at centre-half. I have heard there could be a hijack there, from people I speak to at the club.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Branthwaite evidently has a high ceiling and Postecoglou might fancy his chances of getting the best out of the youngster but I just cannot see Tottenham spending more than £50m or £60m to address a position which is not as big a priority as other roles.

Alasdair Gold confirms Spurs have watched 22-goal Serie A star - The Spurs Web
Description

Alasdair Gold has confirmed that Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee is at least on Tottenham’s radar as the North London club continue their search for a striker.

Tottenham are on the hunt for a new striker

Over the last few months, the likes of Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and Brentford’s Ivan Toney have been mooted as the number nines who are at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist (GiveMeSport).

However, there have also been sporadic links with Zirkzee, who has been a big hit in Serie A since swapping Bayern Munich for Bologna last summer.

It was previously reported by the print edition of Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) that both Spurs and AC Milan had been circling over the forward after having been impressed by his displays at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium last season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs have looked at Zirkzee but are not leading the race

More recently, Manchester United have been installed as the favourites to land the Netherlands international, with Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claiming a few days ago that the Red Devils have already spoken to the Bologna star’s agent regarding a transfer.

When asked if Zirkzee is an option for Ange Postecoglou’s side this summer, Gold has now said in a Q&A for Football.London: “Joshua Zirkzee is a player Tottenham have scouted.

“Although the noise in Serie A seems to suggest that Milan are leading the pack for the Bologna striker, with Manchester United also interested.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the intensity of the speculation, it does not seem as if Tottenham are as keen on Zirkzee as Man Utd and Milan are.

Spurs appear to be focussing their attention on the likes of Gimenez, Toney and Openda but one cannot rule out a twist since we are still in the early days of the transfer window.

Description

According to the print edition of The Sun (23/06, page 56 via TBR Football), Manchester City and Liverpool are ready to challenge Tottenham Hotspur for Leeds United’s Archie Gray.

Tottenham want Leeds United’s Archie Gray

Several outlets over the last couple of weeks have suggested that Gray is one of Tottenham’s top targets to replace Emerson Royal, who is expected to depart N17 this summer.

If Royal does depart, Spurs will need a new right-back to offer both support and competition to Pedro Porro, especially with Tottenham being back in Europe.

This includes an update from Football.London’s Alasdair Gold a few days ago, in which he stated that Tottenham have been put off by Leeds’ £50m asking price for the 18-year-old while the youngster is also not overly keen on leaving Elland Road.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Three-way transfer battle for Archie Gray

However, The Sun have now claimed that Leeds are willing to cash in on Gray due to their financial problems, asserting that an offer of £20m would be enough to sign the right-back.

The report states that Spurs are of the belief that the England Under-21 international would thrive in Ange Postecoglou’s system but they would have to see off competition from Manchester City and Liverpool to land the player.

The publication adds that Borussia Dortmund have also shown interest in Gray but they are expected to withdraw from the race after being put off by Leeds’ asking price.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is quite astonishing that The Sun have put Leeds’ asking price for Gray at just £20m, which is less than half of the figure that the other outlets have reported.

Despite the Yorkshire club’s perilous financial situation and need for quick cash, one would have thought that they could still make over £30m from the right-back sale if a bidding war gets going.

Description

According to TUDNRadio journalist Juan Carlos Cruz (as translated by Sport Witness), Santiago Gimenez is now nearing a switch to Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have been linked with Gimenez for a while

Over the last few months, a number of outlets have backed Gimenez to leave Feyenoord for a bigger club, with Tottenham named as one of the most likely destinations for the striker.

This claim was made most recently by GiveMeSport, who stated that the 23-year-old is Spurs’ top striker target and that the Eredivisie club are prepared to sell their marksmen for £42m this summer.

According to Cruz’s latest update, there have been movements behind the scenes over the last few days, with Gimenez now nearing a move to Spurs.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Santiago Gimenez to Spurs is getting closer

The journalist says that Feyenoord have received offers from Atletico Madrid and Spurs for the striker, with the North London club’s bid being worth more.

The Dutch club have allegedly asked the La Liga side to match Tottenham’s offer, which would be ‘complicated’ for Diego Simeone’s men to do.

Therefore, he adds that the Mexico international is now ‘very close’ to sealing a move to the Premier League outfit.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham fans should not get carried away by this update as we need to see if this information is picked up by Dutch and English outlets over the coming days.

Gimenez is currently with the Mexico squad at Copa America, which might potentially complicate any transfer.

According to CaughtOffside, the race for Lutsharel Geertruida’s signature now appears to be intensifying, with Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen also entering the race for the Feyenoord star but Tottenham have now stepped up their efforts to sign the player.

Tottenham are interested in Lutsharel Geertruida

On Sunday, The Daily Mirror handed Tottenham a boost by stating that Liverpool are having second thoughts about a move for Geertruida and claiming that the Lilywhites had moved into pole position to land the defender ahead of the Reds and Paris Saint-Germain.

CaughOffside have now claimed that Spurs have offered a contract to the right-back, who is currently with the Netherlands squad at the Euros.

The report also credits Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan with a keen interest in the Feyenoord star.

However, it is explained that Ange Postecoglou’s men want to ensure that the Dutchman arrives in N17 to replace Emerson Royal, who is expected to seal his departure from Hotspur Way.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs have offered a contract to Geertruida

The outlet adds that Spurs ‘seem to be advancing’ in their pursuit of the 23-year-old over the last few days.

According to the update, Feyenoord want around €20m-€25m (£17m-£21.1m) for Geertruida, with Spurs prepared to offer him a long-term contract running until 2029 or 2030.

Spurs Web Opinion

The speculation linking Geertruida with a move to Spurs does appear to be gathering steam over recent days.

It could be a sign that Tottenham are shifting their attention away from Archie Gray to the likes of the Feyenoord star and Moncao’s Vanderson.

'Spurs love him but' - Alasdair Gold makes admission about 23-year-old PL star - The Spurs Web
Description

Alasdair Gold has said that while Tottenham are big fans of Marc Guehi, a deal for the Crystal Palace star would be very difficult to get over the line this summer.

Spurs have been keeping an eye on Marc Guehi

Guehi has come on leaps and bounds since his switch to Palace three years ago and the 23-year-old has shown his class at the Euros, arguably being England’s best performer across their two matches so far.

The centre-back’s stock is only going to continue to rise if he keeps doing well in Germany and it was reported by The Daily Mail last week that his displays have already turned the heads of several clubs.

The report named Spurs, Man Utd and Liverpool as the three clubs who are keen on securing the 23-year-old’s services, revealing that all three sides are contemplating a move for the Chelsea academy graduate later in the transfer window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Marc Guehi is probably beyond Tottenham’s reach

However, Gold has pointed out that Tottenham are not likely to pay big money for a centre-back this summer and that the Eagles would want to let the defender leave.

When asked about Spurs’ interest in Guehi, the journalist said on a Q&A for Football.London: “Spurs love him but he’ll be big money this summer, chased by every top club going and Tottenham aren’t really prioritising a centre-back as an immediate big-money signing this summer unless someone major left, which is not expected at this point.

“Also, I’d be stunned if Palace let him go on top of Olise and Eze with their release clauses.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Guehi might have been an option for Tottenham back in January before they signed Radu Dragusin but as Gold points out, it would make little sense for Spurs to now splurge big on another centre-back.

Ange Postecoglou’s men would likely want to sign a relatively low-cost and versatile defender, who can operate across the backline.

GiveMeSport say that a move for Tammy Abraham has not been ruled out by Tottenham Hotspur, who might consider stepping up their interest in the Roma star if their top striker targets prove out of reach.

Spurs have been linked with Tammy Abraham

The report says that while Abraham is on Spurs’ radar, he is not considered one of the ‘priority targets’ by Ange Postecoglou for the time being.

However, it is claimed that the England international is a tempting option for the North London side and they could consider a move for him later in the window.

The 27-year-old is expected to cost around £20m-£25m and since he is considered homegrown and has experience in the Premier League, Tottenham have not ruled out a move for him.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ivan Toney is too expensive for Spurs at £60m

The outlet states that for the moment, Tottenham are looking at the likes of Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

However, the Bees are demanding £60m for Toney, which is said to be £15m more than what the Lilywhites want to pay.

The publication adds that Spurs are not the only ones alert to Abraham’s situation, with Aston Villa and West Ham United also continuing to monitor the former Chelsea man, who is thought to be open to a return to England this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Abraham might be a decent squad option to have but many Spurs fans would hope to see the club bring in a forward who would improve the starting eleven and elevate the side to the next level, which the Roma star would not do.

Ivan Toney, on the other hand, could fit the bill pretty well. Plus, he is Premier League proven.

Description

According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move to sign Manchester City right-back Yan Couto, who has spent the last two years on loan at Girona.

Tottenham want a new right-back this summer

Emerson Royal is expected to depart Spurs this summer and the Lilywhites are now reportedly looking for a replacement for the Brazilian.

It was reported a few days ago by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold that Ange Postecoglou’s men had identified Vanderson and Archie Gray as potential options to serve as Pedro Porro’s backup.

Unfortunately, the journalist also pointed out that a deal for either player would not be straightforward for Tottenham this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs are now looking at Yan Couto

If The Sun’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham have turned their attention to Couto, who has impressed in La Liga over the last couple of years.

The right-back has spent the last two seasons at City’s sister club, Girona, helping the side achieve an impressive third-place finish last campaign.

The report asserts that the reigning Premier League champions are now willing to cash in on the 22-year-old for around £40m this summer as Spurs circle over the Brazil international.

Spurs Web Opinion

I doubt Tottenham would be willing to spend £40m on an understudy to Pedro Porro.

If they are willing to invest that kind of money on a backup right-back, one would presume that they would rather spend that on Archie Gray.

Description

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Tottenham Hotspur have now expressed an interest in signing Fiorentina starlet Michael Kayode.

Tottenham want to sign new defenders this summer

Various reports over the last few weeks have continued to suggest that Ange Postecoglou wants multiple defensive reinforcements this summer, with Emerson Royal, Djed Spence and Joe Rodon likely to follow Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon out of the door.

The latest to make this claim was Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, who stated a couple of days ago that the Lilywhites could look to sign a right-back who can serve as Pedro Porro’s understudy and another versatile defender who can cover at centre-back and left-back.

Tottenham are looking at Michael Kayode

If TMW’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs have now set their sights on Kayode, who impressed after breaking into Fiorentina’s first-team last season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report says that Tottenham have been following the wing-backs in Serie A with great interest following the success of Destiny Udogie and the Viola youngster has now caught their eye.

However, it is explained that Raffaele Palladino’s men do not intend to sell Kayode this summer, with Spurs thus having the deck stacked against them in their efforts to land the teenager.

Spurs Web Opinion

At this point, it is anybody’s guess who Tottenham’s top full-back and centre-back targets are.

Based on the number of names being mooted as targets for Spurs, it does not appear as if the club have narrowed down their list or made any progress on any particular deal.

Perhaps the Lilywhites are waiting for Emerson Royal and Djed Spence to leave before pushing ahead with moves for their top targets.
