Report: Tottenham set to battle Antonio Conte for 22-year-old defender - The Spurs Web
Description

According to a report in Corriere dello Sport, the race for Monaco right-back Vanderson’s signature is set to intensify between Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli.

Spurs are on the lookout for a new right-back

Although Emerson Royal has not left Tottenham yet, it looks inevitable that he will do so, with various sources indicating that Vanderson has been identified by Spurs as a target to replace the 25-year-old.

This information was backed up just a few days ago by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, who explained that while Spurs like the 22-year-old, Monaco’s £40m asking price might put the Premier League side off from pursuing a deal.

Spurs currently have Pedro Porro as their first-choice right-back in North London, so any new signing would likely be providing support and competition for the Spaniard.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs vs Napoli in the race for Vanderson

However, Corriere dello Sport, have now stated that Vanderson would be allowed to leave the Louis II Stadium this summer for just €30m (£25.3m) this summer.

The report asserts that the right-back’s salary demands are also quite modest, with the player asking for a salary of €3.5m (£2.9m) per season to sign on the dotted line.

However, the publication makes it clear that the Lilywhites would have to battle Napoli for the full-back, with Antonio Conte keen on taking Vanderson to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham would not have any trouble outbidding Napoli but Vanderson might be tempted by the option of joining the Serie A club, particularly since he would be aware that he is only likely to be a backup to Pedro Porro at N17.

Spurs also won’t be paying £30m/£40m to sign a second right-back this summer. I suspect £20m is the maximum they will spend, unless it is a versatile player who can play multiple positions.

Description

According to BBC Sport, Lille are prepared to sell rumoured Tottenham target Jonathan David for less than £30m this summer.

Jonathan David is in the final year of his contract at Lille

David, who has been one of the most prolific strikers in Ligue 1 over the last three seasons, is expected to depart the Stade Pierre Mauroy since he has just 12 months left on his contract.

Over the last couple of weeks, several outlets have named Tottenham and Manchester United as the two clubs who have shown the keenest interest in the Canadian international, although neither have held any formal talks with Lille (Dharmesh Sheth).

On Sunday, The Athletic reported that Chelsea had reached out to David’s representatives regarding a potential switch to the Premier League side.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Chelsea are also interested in Jonathan David

BBC Sport have now also backed up Blues’ interest in the Lille star, claiming that the Stamford Bridge outfit are now ‘internally discussing’ a move for David as well as other forwards.

The publication pointed out that Chelsea would face quite a lot of competition for the 24-year-old, who is said to be available for a fee under £30m this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be surprised if Tottenham do not get involved in the race for David’s signature as the Lille forward is a good stylistic fit for Ange’s system and is seemingly available for a much lower fee than the likes of Ivan Toney and Santiago Gimenez.

Description

Alasdair Gold has said that Tottenham Hotspur are still contemplating whether or not to press ahead with an offer to re-sign Marcus Edwards this summer.

Could a Marcus Edwards return to Tottenham happen?

A whole host of Portuguese outlets have talked up the possibility of Marcus Edwards completing a return to Tottenham this summer, five years on from his departure from Hotspur Way.

This includes Record (via Sport Witness) who claimed at the start of this month that that the Lilywhites are keen to make an offer to re-sign the player.

It is said that the ‘special connection’ that the 25-year-old has with the Premier League side might prove crucial in the transfer.

The publication added that Sporting want a fee between €20m and €30m (£17m-£25.5m) for the winger but it was pointed out that Spurs would have to pay considerably less than other clubs since they have a 35 per cent sell-on clause on the player.

Alasdair Gold provides Spurs and Marcus Edwards update

Gold has now offered an update on Edwards’ future, explaining that the winger is keen to return to the Premier League and that Tottenham continue to monitor his situation closely.

The journalist said on a Q&A for Football.London: “Spurs have certainly considered a return for Marcus Edwards, with their former winger counting as club-trained and available at a cut price from Sporting due to their 35% sell-on clause.

“They’re monitoring that situation and whether it’s more beneficial to make the move or simply take a cut of any potential fee. From what I understand the player would be happy to return and has made no secret of his desire to come back to England to play in the Premier League.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham’s lack of homegrown and club-trained numbers would Edwards a tempting option for the club but the reality is that the winger is not proven in the Premier League and he would likely be a useful squad player at best rather than someone who can elevate the side to the next level.

Whether Edwards would be happy to come back and be a bit-part player remains to be seen.

Report: PSG have stepped up efforts to beat Spurs to 23-year-old - The Spurs Web
Description

The transfer window may have only opened earlier this week, however, Tottenham Hotspur’s rumour mill has already gone into overdrive.

PSG are keen on Lutsharel Geertruida

French news outlet L’Equipe have revealed that Paris Saint-Germain have now ramped up their efforts to beat Tottenham and other Premier League clubs to the signature of Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida.

Tottenham’s interest in Geertruida first came to light several weeks ago when De Telegraaf revealed that the North London side and Liverpool were both plotting moves for the Dutchman.

However, on Sunday, The Daily Mirror suggested that Spurs had moved into pole position to land the right-back ahead of the Reds.

It was explained that Arne Slot was now having second thoughts about making the Netherlands international his first signing at Anfield, thus allowing the Lilywhites to steal a march on his side.

Tottenham face PSG transfer tussle

However, L’Equipe have now suggested that it is PSG who are now at the front of the queue to land the Geertruida, having now made advances towards the right-back.

The report suggests that the Parisians are keen on winning the race for the versatile defender and have already offered him a new contract.

The publication also suggests that the 23-year-old Feyenoord star would be allowed to leave for just £25m this summer since he has just a year left on his contract at De Kuip.

Spurs Web Opinion

At the moment, it sounds like Tottenham have narrowed their choices down to Vanderson, Archie Gray and Geertruida for the right-back spot but one would not rule out a surprise new target, with the negotiations not advanced with any of these players.

It looks likely that Tottenham are going to have to bring in another right-back this summer with Emerson Royal looking as if he will be heading out of the door.

I am personally quite surprised that Spurs have not made a little more of a serious effort to land Kyle Walker-Peters, given the club’s lack of homegrown and club-trained options.

Ben Jacobs makes transfer prediction involving Spurs

Ben Jacobs makes transfer prediction involving Spurs-linked defender - The Spurs Web
Description

Ben Jacobs has said that he expects Manchester United to make an approach for rumoured Tottenham target Max Kilman this summer, revealing that the club have been discussing a move for the Wolves defender since April.

Max Kilman could be set to leave Wolves this summer

Tottenham continue to be linked with a whole host of central defenders and it is far from clear at the moment who the Lilywhites top target for the position is.

One of the latest names to be mooted as a target is Kilman, with Spurs insider Paul O Keefe telling the Last Word on Spurs podcast last week that the 27-year-old is another name on Ange Postecogolou’s transfer wishlist.

The centre-back has four years left on his contract at Molineux, however, according to O’Keefe, the North London club might look to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

A few days ago, GiveMeSport backed up Tottenham’s interest in Kilman, with the report adding that Man Utd are also ready to make a move for the Englishman after admitting defeat in the pursuit of Jarrad Branthwaite.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Jacobs has now also named the Red Devils as the ones to watch out for in the race for the Wolves stopper, revealing that the experienced defender is expected to cost around £45m.

Ben Jacobs makes transfer prediction

The journalist has now told GiveMeSport: “I would keep an eye on Max Kilman, who Manchester United have discussed since April.

“Even though the expectation is that if he departs, it could be for West Ham and a reunion with Julian Lopetegui, the number that Wolves would sell for could be too much for West Ham, because I’m told that Wolves don’t want to lose their captain, but if they do, it’s going to be for around £45m.

“And it may be that West Ham walk away at that kind of number, opening the door potentially for Manchester United.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Interestingly Jacobs does not seem to think Tottenham are one of the leading contenders for Kilman’s signature, which is understandable as it would not make a lot of sense to pay around £45m to £50m for a fourth-choice centre-back.

Radu Dragusin‘s impressive showing towards the end of last season and in the Euros has made a new centre-back even less of a priority for Spurs than it previously was.

Tottenham are more likely to move for a younger, inexperienced defender rather than drop big money on Kilman, when the funds are needed further up the pitch.

Description

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has confirmed that Tottenham are indeed keen on landing Nico Williams this summer but made it clear that the Lilywhites have their work cut out if they want to complete the deal.

Tottenham are interested in Nico Willams

Gold stated that despite the arrival of Timo Werner, Ange Postecoglou’s side do wish to add another wide-forward to his squad before the start of the new campaign, with Barcelona’s Raphinha and Sporting Lisbon’s Marcus Edwards among the names ont the club’s radar.

He said that Williams‘ name is also on Tottenham’s list but pointed out that the Athletic Club Bilbao star is also wanted by several big sides around Europe.

The journalist explained that even though there is a £46.5m release clause in the 21-year-old’s contract, the deal would not be straightforward to complete as the player has not shown a willingness to leave San Mames.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Nico Williams could remain in Spain this summer

Finally, Gold suggested that as things stand, Athletic Club are not worried about losing their academy graduate this summer.

Meanwhile, the Spaniard himself admitted over the weekend that he remains happy at his boyhood club and brushed aside the rumours linking him with a move away (La1 via Fabrizio Romano).

Spurs Web Opinion

Williams is undoubtedly the most exciting name among the various wingers mooted as targets for Spurs over recent months but a deal for the Spain international was always going to be quite difficult to do, especially on the back of the impressive season he has just had.

With the likes of Chelsea also said to be interested, it will only make Tottenham’s chances of a deal more difficult.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to have a busy window of summer activity with not only fresh faces set to arrive, but also those who need to head out of the door as part of Ange Postecoglou’s rebuild.

Joe Rodon could be a makeweight in transfer deal

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Tottenham are willing to use Joe Rodon as a makeweight in a deal to sign Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.

It was reported last week by Football Insider that all three newly promoted Premier League clubs are keen on landing Rodon, who is alleged to be valued at £10m by Spurs.

Meanwhile, The Sun claimed last week that Saints midfielder Alcaraz, who spent last season out on loan at Juventus, had emerged as a target for the Lilywhites.

The report claimed that the South Coast club were open to selling the 21-year-old midfielder for a fee of around £30m as they wish to raise funds to pursue their own transfer targets.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham are keen on Southampton’s Carlos Alcaraz

Nixon has now also taken to social media to confirm that Tottenham have their eye on the Argentine.

The journalist claimed that the North London club are hoping to send Rodon to the South Coast as a part of the deal to bring Alcaraz to N17.

Nixon elaborated further in his piece for The Sun where he suggested both sides will have to work on their valuations with Alcaraz considered to be worth around £30m by the Saints.

Alcarez spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus where he made 12 appearances and provided one assist across all competitions for the Serie A giants.

Spurs Web Opinion

I can understand why Ange would want Alacaraz as the Argentine is extremely versatile and could take the squad place expected to be vacated by his compatriot, Giovani Lo Celso, who looks likely to depart Hotspur Way this summer.

Description

Tottenham are seeking further enforcements at right-back in a bid to offer Pedro Porro some competition for his role as Emerson Royal continues to be touted with a move away from the club.

Reports suggest Vanderson is Spurs’ desired replacement for Emerson Royal

Popular journalist, Fabrizio Romano, revealed on social media platform X a week ago that Tottenham were ‘showing interest’ in AS Monaco’s Vanderson with the Brazilian being ‘one of the options’ if his compatriot, Emerson Royal departs the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Royal has been strongly linked with a move to AC Milan for a number of weeks now with reports that The Rossoneri are, like Tottenham, looking to sign a new right-back with Emerson being ‘high on their list’. (Fabrizio Romano).

La Gazzetta Dello Sport have today claimed that Emerson ‘evidently considers Milan superior to Tottenham’, stating that the former Barcelona player who featured 22 times in the Premier League last season (transfermarkt) has ‘reached an agreement in principle for over the contract he would sign’.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham are believed to have financially scared off Napoli from a deal

Monaco are rumoured to be demanding in the region of €30m (£25.4m) for Vanderson who has featured 20 times for them this season. The Italian newspaper is now stating that an ‘auction is looming’ with Tottenham seemingly emerging as the favourites for Vanderson’s signature.

Vanderson joined Ligue 1 side Monaco in January of 2022 for around €11 million. Since joining the French outfit Vanderson has been capped by Brazil as well as netting on six occasions across his eighty-four appearances for the club (transfermarkt).

Spurs have now reportedly ‘priced the player’ with the Italian report reflecting a pessimistic attitude to the likeliness of the player joining Napoli.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It has become apparent for some time now that despite some improvement upon his poor performances when he first joined the club, Emerson doesn’t possess the skill set that is suitable for Postecoglou’s system, especially as the Australian looks to improve upon his team’s 5th place finish last season.

Vanderson is younger than Emerson and has consistent Ligue 1 experience as well as Champions League appearances which suggests the Monaco man wouldn’t be as big a risk as someone like Djed Spence was.

If Tottenham want to compete on all four fronts next season then strength in depth will be key, Vanderson can hopefully be an improvement upon Emerson and offer exactly that.

Report: Spurs move to pole position to land right-back after Liverpool hesitate - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s attempts to bring in a new full-back this summer may have been made a lot easier by Liverpool’s change of heart.

Liverpool make Lutsharel Geertruida transfer decision

According to The Daily Mirror, Tottenham are now the favourites to sign Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida this summer after Liverpool cooled their interest in the player.

The report backs up what we have heard from various sources over the last few weeks, stating that both Spurs and Liverpool had shown keen interest in bringing Geertruida to the Premier League.

Apart from the two English clubs, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig are also said to be monitoring the situation of the defender, who is currently at the Euros with the Netherlands squad.

However, it is explained that while Arne Slot is a fan of Geertruida, he is now hesitant to make the Dutchman his first signing at Anfield.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This is because Slot has seen the criticism levelled at Erik Ten Hag for signing players from the Eredivisie and does not want to repeat the same mistake.

Tottenham have scouted Lutsharel Geertruida ahead of potential move

The Mirror claims that Tottenham’s scouts watched the versatile Geertruida closely last season and were left impressed by the 23-year-old.

The publication adds that the Netherlands international is a fan of the Premier League and frequently flies over to London to see some of his friends play in big games.

Spurs Web Opinion

Geertruida ticks several boxes for Tottenham as not only can he cover for Pedro Porro at right-back but he can also fill in as the fourth-choice centre-back that Postecoglou wants in his squad.

However, I am always sceptical about signings from the Eredivisie as the standard of Dutch football has fallen drastically over the last decade or so.

We have seen both Vincent Janssen and Steven Bergwijn both struggle to adapt to the Premier League while even the likes of Cody Gakpo at Liverpool has hardly pulled up any trees with his displays.

Report: London rivals have now opened talks with 26-goal Spurs target - The Spurs Web
Description

A new striker is rumoured to be on the radar for Tottenham Hotspur this summer as they finally look to try and fill the void left by Harry Kane.

Spurs face competition if they wish to sign Jonathan David

According to The Athletic, Chelsea have now spoken to the representatives of rumoured Tottenham target Jonathan David regarding a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

A departure from Lille looks inevitable for David, who just has a year left on his current deal with the French club.

In fact, Lille president Olivier Letang himself admitted earlier this month that the striker would be allowed to leave Stade Pierre Mauroy this summer if the right kind of offer is received (Fabrizio Romano).

Speculation surrounding Canadian international’s future has run rife over the past couple of weeks, with various sources suggesting that Manchester United and Tottenham are both keen on acquiring his services (Dharmesh Sheth).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Chelsea have started to make moves for David

However, if The Athletic’s latest update is to be believed, it is Chelsea who have made the first move for David, having spoken to the forward’s representatives regarding a potential transfer.

The report reveals that the 24-year-old ranks highly on the wishlist of Enzo Maresca, who wants to bolster his forward line ahead of the new season.

The publication further adds that while the Stamford Bridge outfit are yet to hold any talks with Lille, they do have a good relationship with the Ligue 1 club’s hierarchy.

David scored 26 times across 47 appearances in all competitions for Lille last season which is a very respectable return rate in front of goal (transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

I am surprised that Tottenham are not all over this David deal as the striker seems like a good fit for Ange Postecoglou‘s system and has a proven goalscoring pedigree at the top level.

Spurs’ hesitation to make a move for the Lille star or Santiago Gimenez suggests that they have someone else in mind as their top target. The Lilywhites might be waiting to see what happens with Ivan Toney and whether Brentford are willing to drop their asking price.

Considering David only has a year left on his contract in France would make him a realistic target in terms of a transfer fee, it would be frustrating to miss out to Chelsea yet again.
