Although West Ham fans may have got excited about the prospect of a Spurs player becoming injured before this weekend, it's not news they should be celebrating. It appears Spence could still play in the game.

Romero One Player Who Won't be Attending

One player who won't be attending Tottenham's game against Everton on Sunday is captain Cristian Romero. Reports have claimed that the Argentine defender is set to travel back to his home country to see his boyhood club Belgrano play in their final against River Plate rather than attending Spurs' huge relegation battle game.

It's an interesting decision from Romero, considering it's such a huge game for Tottenham, and he is the one player who should be looking to support his side. It will be interesting to discover whether Tottenham and their supporters are happy about this decision, as the club captain is exactly who they need in the dressing room supporting the team.

According to journalist Tim Vickery, Romero won't be attending Tottenham's crucial game against Everton this weekend.

That is because the Argentine defender will be travelling back to his home country to watch his boyhood club Belgrano in the final against River Plate.

It will certainly come as a shock to Spurs supporters that Romero won't be in attendance. The Argentine defender is currently out injured, so he's under no obligation to attend the game.

That doesn't mean that it's the right decision, however.

Tottenham Should be Fuming With Romero

Both Tottenham and their supporters should be absolutely fuming with the decision made by Romero to not attend the game against Everton.

It is one of their biggest games in their recent history, which could impact the club significantly over the next few years.

The captain of a team should be there, regardless of being injured, helping out in the dressing room during team talks and simply supporting the side in such a crucial match.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham have allowed Romero to do this, or if he's decided on his own accord. It would be a huge surprise if the club were willing to support him in his decision.

Tottenham are showing an interest in signing a new striker ahead of the summer transfer window as they look to improve on two dismal seasons in the Premier League.

Spurs face competition from a host of clubs for the signature of Pavlidis, who has scored 30 goals in all competitions this season, including AC Milan and Roma.

Benfica are open to allowing Pavlidis to leave the club in the summer transfer window, but they won't let him go on the cheap.

It's claimed that after paying £15m to bring him to the club, Benfica are looking for a sizeable offer to allow him to depart.

As it stands, no club has made a formal offer to try to prise Pavlidis away from the Portuguese outfit, with it just being considered interest at the moment.

Spurs are one of multiple sides showing an interest in the striker, and it will be interesting to see if they make an official move when the market opens.

Tottenham Need Striker Addition

There's certainly an argument to suggest that Tottenham need to bring in a new striker in the summer transfer window.

Dominic Solanke has struggled with injuries and hasn't been able to produce the form he did at Bournemouth since arriving at Spurs.

Richarlison has also struggled fitness-wise, despite showing he's a capable Premier League striker when fit. Randal Kolo Muani joined the club on loan, but he's yet to earn a permanent move to North London.

Signing a new striker could be one of Tottenham's priorities heading into the summer, but it's unclear who is going to be their number one target.

We still do not know in which division Tottenham will be playing their football next season.

Spurs have had big chances to pick up vital points in recent weeks to all-but guarantee their survival in the Premier League.

Mathys Tel gave away a needless penalty against Leeds United at home to draw 1-1, having led 1-0 through the same player's wonder goal. Then, on Tuesday night, Spurs gifted Chelsea a second goal when 1-0 down at Stamford Bridge, and despite a Richarlison goal, it was too big a mountain to climb, losing 2-1.

Spurs could be safe from Premier League relegation already

The extra two points from the Leeds clash or a point against Chelsea would see them safe from the threat of relegation. Instead, they head into the final day of the 2025/26 campaign needing a result against Everton to stave off a first demotion since 1977.

The 2025/26 campaign has been an unmitigated disaster, with three different managers sitting in the dugout and Spurs set to finish in the bottom four of the table for the second season running.

New head coach Roberto De Zerbi has some big decisions to make in the summer, but first he needs to guide his team to a point or more in the final match of the season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

A number of players will be departing N17 no matter what happens on the final day. Ben Davies and Yves Bissouma are both out of contract, while loanees Joao Palhinha and Randal Kolo Muani will head back to parent clubs Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain respectively. Danso has accepted his back-up role at Tottenham this season

Kevin Danso has been a steady pair of hands to call upon in the absence of Romero and Micky van de Ven through injuries, not just this season but last, always putting in a solid display when called upon, rarely letting the team down - that mistake that cost Spurs three points against Brighton & Hove Albion apart.

However, while it is unlikely he will be moved on in the summer transfer window, his role in the side may once again diminish.

Danso accepted his role as back-up to Romero and van de Ven when he said: "That's part of being at a top club that's at the top of world football, like Spurs is. You have players in every position that are top, top quality.

"Micky and Cuti [Romero] are exactly that. I understand that and I'm very realistic. My role is to just play as best as possible, try and get in the team. If not, also understand that's part of football. I believe in myself. You've got competition, you've just got to deal with it the best you can."

With Romero likely to leave, Danso might expect to become first choice, although if Spurs stay in the top flight they have an agreement in place to sign Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth that might push him back down the pecking order.

And there is an argument that he should probably remain as a back-up defender anyway.

The game against Chelsea highlighted how he may not be suited to De Zerbi's football. So far it has been all about getting results to stay in the division, but come next season, if Spurs are a Premier League club, De Zerbi will want to fully put his stamp on the squad and get them playing his aggressive brand of attacking football from back to front.

Kevin Danso's stats show how good a defender he is

Danso had more touches (94) than any other player on the pitch on Tuesday night, but never really looked comfortable on the ball against the Blues, having to recover from poor touches a number of times. He was successful with 93% of his passes - mostly short to van de Ven or midfielders Palhinha and Bentancur - but only one of his long balls was successful.

He lost two of his six duels and interestingly only made one tackle in the 90 minutes.

The stats from Tuesday do not actually look too damning, but that is mainly from a defensive point of view and his presence and how he is perceived on the pitch makes you question whether or not he fits into De Zerbi's style of football.

The Italian is likely to adopt a high-risk, high-reward philosophy, asking his defenders to start attacks, but also be responsible for stopping the opposition from making any in-roads themselves.

Danso's numbers suggest he can do the latter comfortably, but whether the man whom former boss Thomas Frank described as "underrated" can adapt to deliver on the former, that is a non-negotiable of De Zerbi, remains to be seen.

Former Tottenham and England star Glenn Hoddle has recounted the time he received 26 stitches for a clash with the toughest opponent he faced in his career.

The 68-year-old had an illustrious playing career, featuring over 350 times for Spurs, along with 53 caps for England, and spells with Monaco, Swindon, and Chelsea.

Hoddle's success translated onto the managerial stage, taking on his former sides Swindon, Chelsea, and Tottenham from the dugout, as well as the England national team, Southampton, and Wolves.

While he is now known for his time as a pundit, the former star has reflected on his career, with one player named as the toughest he faced.

Glenn Hoddle's Toughest Opponent

During his playing days, Hoddle faced off with plenty of tricky opponents, but one was tougher in the physical sense than a lot of the others he took on.

The 68-year-old recently discussed his career with the i Paper, citing Jiri Sloup as the one he struggled against the most, receiving stitches from the encounter. He said:

"The toughest opponent I faced was a player called Jiri Sloup I’ve got 26 stitches in my forehead to tell you about him.

"It was the second leg of the UEFA Cup tie against Bohemians Praha, and it was pretty evident after two minutes this fellow was trying to kill me. Dingy, old place we were playing in. The floodlights were dreadful. The pitch wasn’t great.

"I remember Ray Clemence threw me the ball, bless him, and I was on my own for a second or two. I could see Sloup coming at me out of the corner of my eye, so I thought I’d flick it round him and spin the other side.

"He hit me like an express train. His elbow caught me in the head. I tore my groin, so I got stretchered off. So that was an experience. He was probably the hardest bloke I played against. I wouldn’t want to play against him every week."

Tottenham went on to draw the game 1-1, with Hoddle substituted off just before halftime, a tie they ultimately progressed past with a 3-1 triumph on aggregate.

Tottenham Relegation Impact

Tottenham's struggles this season could see them relegated, with a final match decider awaiting them in the Premier League over the weekend.

If Spurs drop to the second tier, it'll be the first time in almost 50 years that the club have suffered relegation from the top-flight, marking a dark day.

The last time was in 1977, in a squad that Hoddle happened to be a part of as a teenager, which he has outlined as his biggest regret from his career.

He said: "Getting relegated with Tottenham was my lowest point. I was only 18, and we got relegated in 1977. That was the lowest I’ve ever felt without a shadow of a doubt, because it was my team.

"I’ve supported Tottenham since I was eight years old, and to think I was in a team that got relegated was crucifying for me as a youngster.

"But it was good for me in the end, because I learned from it a lot and I learned how to cope with adversity. Some people, they’re great when they’re winning. The minute it goes the other way, they don’t know how to deal with that.

"If I could turn back time, that would be the one, because I would approach things so differently now."

It remains to be seen whether that same regret could face a few faces in the current Spurs team, and whether any of them could then go on to have the legacy of Hoddle for themselves.

Tottenham Hotspur have one game left to ensure they avoid a disastrous relegation to the Championship and a league fixture against Lincoln City next season.

Tottenham knew they could have wrapped the Premier League survival battle up with a point against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, but a 2-1 defeat means that the fight with West Ham United to stay in the top flight will go down to the final day on Sunday.

Randal Kolo Muani Disappoints Again for Tottenham

Tottenham disappointed on a night when they had the chance to prevent the relegation battle going to the final day, and like he has on many occasions in the Premier League this season, Kolo Muani was their most disappointing performer.

The France international was awarded a 3/10 rating by Alasdair Gold for his performance, before he was replaced by James Maddison in the 69th minute.

Because of injuries, De Zerbi doesn't have a lot of options to change his attack, but given Kolo Muani was a passenger again, and has a record of one goal and one assist in 29 Premier League appearances this term, now could be the time to drop him.

De Zerbi Needs to Drop Joao Palhinha Too vs Everton

Joao Palhinha was only used from the substitutes' bench in De Zerbi's opening three Premier League matches in charge, but it was his crucial winning goal at Wolves that has seen him start the next three games under the Italian.

While the Portugal international has the experience and leadership to make a difference in this Tottenham team, he has struggled with the demands of De Zerbi-ball at times, none more so than against Chelsea.

He failed to close down Enzo Fernandez quick enough from his long-range goal, while his hesitancy in possession isn't suited to De Zerbi's wish to pass the ball quickly.

Palhinha was replaced by Pape Matar Sarr at the same time Kolo Muani was withdrawn, and neither player should be in the starting XI against the Toffees this weekend.

De Zerbi does love Palhinha and has said he would '100%' sign him on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich this summer, but separate reports from Portugal in recent days have suggested the player is keen to move to his homeland and is in advanced talks to join Sporting Lisbon.

With no guarantee the 30-year-old is a Spurs player next season, De Zerbi should select someone like Sarr, Bissouma or Archie Gray ahead of him against Moyes' men.

Tottenham are not yet safe from Premier League relegation and the battle to stay in the top flight will go down to the final day of the season.

Spurs could have saved themselves from any last day drama by picking up a result against fierce rivals Chelsea on Tuesday night. However, their historic Stamford Bridge hoodoo struck again as they were beaten 2-1 by a Blues side who had not won in the Premier League since the beginning of March prior to defeating Tottenham.

The visitors started the game on the front foot and looked in command of proceedings, ready to take advantage of a beleaguered Chelsea side who had been beaten in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Second goal killed Tottenham at Stamford Bridge

However, things went awry when Enzo Fernandez scored from range in the 18th minute and Spurs could not wrestle the momentum back in the first half.

They came out with renewed purpose in the second half, but with Roberto De Zerbi looking to make changes, a 67th minute Andrey Santos goal gave them a mountain to climb.

Richarlison pulled one back seven minutes later, but despite some good opportunities and a massive call for a penalty, Tottenham could not grab the equaliser that would have saved them from relegation before the final day of the season.

There were some good performances on the night, coupled with some poor ones and none were more poor than Randal Kolo Muani.

The French forward was laboured in possession, wasteful with his deliveries and on one occasion could not even be bothered to chase a ball down the right hand side, assuming it was going out, yet it stayed in and Chelsea could build another attack from the back with no pressure on them whatsoever. He was handed a 3/10 rating by football.london's Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold - the worst of any player on the pitch, including the substitutes.

He was also at fault for the second goal, that had Micky van de Ven apoplectic.

Kolo Muani had the ball on the right touchline and in an attempt to pass the ball to Rodrigo Bentancur in the middle, found absolutely no one, with Chelsea picking up the ball and streaming towards goal, with Spurs having committed men to an attacking phase of play.

Kolo Muani was hooked immediately - he had been in line to be replaced prior to that horror moment - and there is an argument for not seeing him in a Spurs shirt ever again.

On loan from Paris Saint-Germain, the 27-year-old is due to head back to his parent club this summer once the Premier League season ends. But there should be no thought of trying to sign him permanently.

The Aston VIlla win - and perhaps the Champions League clash against his parent club - apart, Kolo Muani has been nothing short of a disaster.

De Zerbi could try different options to replace Kolo Muani

He has started every game under De Zerbi since he has been at the club, but that is mainly down to the Italian having a lack of other options, with injuries to Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert and Dominic Solanke.

Solanke could return for the monumentally big clash with Everton on the final day of the season, while there is a real argument to be made that one of the central midfielders could be bumped out to the right-hand side and still offer more than Kolo Muani has done.

Archie Gray has been a beacon of light in a desperately poor season, yet finds himself on the bench as De Zerbi goes for experience in troubling times. He would at least have more energy and a bit more about him, if not being the winger to really suit a De Zerbi system, than Kolo Muani. Lucas Bergvall similarly.

There is only one more game to go and it's a big one and Tottenham simply cannot afford to carry any passengers.

Meanwhile, the Irons host Leeds United at the London Stadium at the same time, hoping that they win and their former manager David Moyes does them a favour when he brings his Toffees team to the capital.

Tottenham are still the overwhelming favourites to be a Premier League team next season, but De Zerbi will want to be backed with new signings who fit his way of playing, to ensure that the club don't find themselves in a disastrous position like this again in the 2026-27 campaign.

Tottenham Want Troy Parrott Return

According to Dutch source SoccerNews, Tottenham are one of the clubs interested in signing Parrott from AZ Alkmaar this summer, with the Republic of Ireland dropping an exit hint after his team's final match of the season on Sunday.

As well Spurs seeking out a return for their former player, there is also further Premier League interest in the 24-year-old from Leeds United and Everton, with AC Milan of Serie A also keen on him.

Speaking after the 3-3 draw against NAC Breda at the weekend, the 'top tier' Parrott refused to confirm that he would be staying with the Dutch club beyond this season.

He said: “If this was the last game, I have had the best two years of my life. The club has ensured that I could make progress. It is important for me to take the next step in my career and to play at the highest level.”

Parrott Would Jump at Chance to Re-Join Tottenham

Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold reported last month that the Irishman would jump at the chance to play for Tottenham again, believing he has unfinished business at the club.

The striker left the north Londoners for AZ in 2024 having only made four appearances in all competitions for Spurs, spending the majority of the last few years out on loan.

Now, Parrott is said to really want to play for the club again, even if they suffer relegation to the Championship on Sunday.

He would be an interesting buy for Tottenham too, seeing as he has the traits that De Zerbi likes in a player, while he has scored 51 goals and registered 17 assists in 95 games for AZ.

With uncertainty over the futures of the likes of Richarlison, Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani ahead of the summer, buying a new centre-forward or two could be one of Spurs' summer transfer priorities.

The other bonus of re-signing Parrott would be that they can land him for a lower fee than other suitors, having inserted a 20% sell-on clause into the deal that took him to the Netherlands.

Tottenham are on the brink of securing their Premier League status for at least another season, and that means plans are underway to ensure this never happens again.

Roberto De Zerbi's arrival last month has seen a change of fortunes on the pitch for the north London club, and they now require just one point from their final two games to ensure they are still a Premier League side next season. But his time at the club has also made it clear which players don't have a future beyond this summer.

A number of players are expected to leave with no European football available, but there will also be some moved on at the request of the manager, with replacements being sought after to help improve the way they take in his demands.

Spurs Get Green Light for Long-Term Target

One player who has emerged as a potential option for the north London club is Argentina star and World Cup winner, Paulo Dybala.

The AS Roma forward is out of contract with the Italian side this summer, and according to Sky Sports, he would be ready to make a move to the Premier League for the next challenge in his career.

While Dybala is now 32-years-old, he still has incredible technical qualities. Spurs have had a historic interest in his services too, having agreed a £64.4m deal with Juventus back in August 2019, only for a deal to collapse over image rights.

Dybala went on to stay at Juventus until 2022, when he signed a deal to join Roma instead, but a move to bring him to north London could now be back on the cards, and De Zerbi would surely be delighted to have him as an option to call upon for next season.

This season injuries have played a huge part in Spurs' struggles, but with a lesser schedule and De Zerbi being able to shape the squad in his image, it could be a match made in heaven.

Dybala a Huge Richarlison Upgrade

On top of being available on a free transfer, it's also very fair to say that Dybala would be a huge upgrade on current number nine, Richarlison.

The Brazilian has been at Spurs for a long time but has never really cemented himself as a top option. Now, under the Italian, he has been on the substitutes bench more often than not, despite injuries to the likes of Dominic Solanke, Xavi Simons, James Maddison, and more.

His future at the club looks bleak, and by bringing in Dybala, the club would not only have incredible options despite his exit, but they would have a new leader and experience from the highest level to help them.

With Dybala ready to join, and Spurs looking for attacking reinforcements, this could be a no-brainer of a deal seven years after it was initially expected to happen.

Tottenham will be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window if, as expected, Guglielmo Vicario departs for Inter Milan.

Vicario has been the Tottenham No.1 for the past three seasons, but has yet to play under new head coach Roberto De Zerbi after undergoing hernia surgery towards the end of interim head coach Igor Tudor's ill-fated short reign.

De Zerbi has publicly called Vicario his number one goalkeeper, despite Antonin Kinsky proving to be a more than capable deputy in the first month-and-a-half of De Zerbi's time at the club.

De Zerbi said ahead of Tuesday night's crucial Premier League fixture away at Chelsea: "Vicario is number one but we have to consider the physical condition, the moment, everything, but I have a big relationship with Antonin Kinsky and Vicario as well and there will not be any problem.”

Vicario does not look like he has a long-term future in north London, with strong links of a return to Italy with Inter in recent weeks and months. The Italian has had a difficult relationship with the Tottenham supporters and GIVEMESPORT understands a sale will be sanctioned by the club if the right offer comes in.

Senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs said: "I think Tottenham are resigned and almost prepared to endorse as well, certain exits, whether they go down or stay up and Vicario probably falls into a category of a mutual parting of ways, because I can foresee a situation where Tottenham go out in the market and try and sign a new number one goalkeeper, and Inter Milan and Vicario is the plot line to keep an eye on there."

Kinsky has shown remarkable resilience to pick his Spurs career back up off the ground, bouncing back from his horror show against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League in February, having been hooked after just 17 minutes of the match at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano after making a couple of major errors that would ultimately lead to Spurs' elimination from the competition.

He is likely the be given the chance to stake his claim to be the new No.1 next season, given his performances to end this campaign, but Spurs will have to go and sign another keeper.

Paris Saint-Germain keeper Lucas Chevalier has been linked with a move to north London before and it would make complete sense to try and sign him this summer, given he has fallen out of favour at the Parc des Princes.

What has gone wrong for Lucas Chevalier?

Chevalier was a £35million signing from Lille in the last summer transfer window and started the season as first choice under Luis Enrique, playing against Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup to start the campaign and then against them in the Champions League league phase.

However, he soon fell out of favour and has not played since January 23.

At 24 years of age he has his best years as a goalkeeper ahead of him and PSG are reportedly willing to listen to offers for him in the summer transfer window.

He is the perfect goalkeeper for De Zerbi's high-risk system, as he is at home playing out fmo the back. He has enjoyed an 87.7% pass success rate this season - the best of any goalkeeper in Ligue Un, and is comfortable with the ball at his feet.

According to Totale Football Analysis, Chevalier is "comfortable with all aspects of modern goalkeeper distribution: accurate short passes under pressure, chipped balls over the initial pressing line, and long balls to wide players".
