Tottenham Hotspur suffered a record eighth home defeat of the season and missed yet another opportunity to climb the Premier League table with a loss to Nottingham Forest on Monday evening - and the performance of Cristian Romero has made it easy to realise why Daniel Levy is willing to sell him at a discounted price.

Romero was given a 3/10 rating in Tottenham's loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers last week, making an 'utter mess' for Wolves' third goal, and Monday's loss against Forest wasn't too dissimilar, with journalist Alasdair Gold further sticking the dagger in by stating that the Argentine was 'all over the place' against Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

The Argentine has been nowhere near at his best this season

Despite his poor form, that has still seen Romero being touted for a move away from the north London outfit. Having won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, the former Juventus star showed his 'world-class' credentials with the Bianconeri and with his national team - which has led to interest from elsewhere.

Real Madrid have been linked, and if they took into account Romero's early performances for the Lilywhites, you wouldn't discount most sides wanting to land the 26-year-old in the future.

But Tottenham's campaign has been nothing short of shocking, and Romero's downturn in performances has partly been a reason for that. Of course, Romero did miss a huge chunk of the campaign with injuries, from mid-November through to the start of March seeing him feature just once - but Spurs have only garnered four points from a possible 24 in the last eight games he's played in and for a club of their stature, he's not been good enough for Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham have fielded interest in their supposed 'star' player, and it's easy to see why Levy is happy to accept a cut-price fee for his services. Micky van de Ven, Archie Gray and Destiny Udogie all have time to learn, but with Romero set to turn 27 over the next week, it could be the best time to cash in on his services to avoid losing him for a lesser fee next season, when he will have just one year left on his current deal.

Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero has been called out by former Spurs star Jamie O'Hara after another underwhelming performance for the Lilywhites on Monday evening - with the Argentina international being called out for 'not wanting to be' at the north London club as a result of his Premier League outings in recent weeks.

Tottenham lost to Nottingham Forest in what has been another torrid run of form in the top-flight this season, losing their 18th game in just 33 outings in the top-flight, and they sit just one point from 17th in what has been an incredibly dismal campaign for Ange Postecoglou. Romero's return has seen Tottenham embark on a run of just four points from seven games - and O'Hara has seen fit to target him on talkSPORT.

O'Hara: Romero 'Doesn't Want' to be at Tottenham

The Argentine produced yet another poor performance

Speaking on talkSPORT after the defeat to the East Midlands outfit, O'Hara couldn't hide his anger at Romero's performances by stating that the Argentine didn't want to be at the club - though he understood why by further asking if anyone at all would want to play in the current Tottenham squad with the Europa League being their only chance of holding onto the season.

He said:

"I don't think he wants to be there at the moment, I don't think he wants to be in this team. I don't think he wants to play in this time. Who would want to play in this team? Are they playing in this team?"

The caller on talkSPORT then stated that it wasn't the first time that Romero has been 'striking around', looking uninterested - before making the point that if he wasn't interested, then Postecoglou shouldn't play him. And O'Hara responded by agreeing with the caller's point, adding:

"You've got a point, because when it comes to the Europa League, you need him."

Romero has been touted with moves away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the past, notably with Real Madrid being linked to landing the £165,000-per-week Argentine defender - and by producing under-committed performances that O'Hara has alluded to, a move away from north London could well be on the cards.

Tottenham Hotspur have earmarked Fulham boss Marco Silva as a potential replacement for Ange Postecoglou, Fabrizio Romano has revealed on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast.

The Lilywhites have reportedly placed Silva at the top of their shortlist if they do end up looking for a new manager, alongside Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola.

While Spurs’ chances of appointing the latter seem slim, Silva could emerge as a more attainable option, with his Fulham contract set to enter its final 12 months.

The Portuguese manager has spent the last four seasons at Craven Cottage and is approaching his 180th game in charge away at Southampton on Saturday.

Romano, speaking on the Market Madness podcast, revealed that Silva and Iraola are two of the main names on Tottenham’s managerial shortlist:

“Iraola and Marco Silva are two of the main names on the list at Tottenham for the potential new coach, in case they decide to fire Ange Postecoglou.”

Fulham are reportedly keen to tie Silva down to a new long-term deal, but the Portuguese manager is not rushing to commit his future at Craven Cottage amid growing interest from Premier League clubs.

The 47-year-old’s stock remains high after another impressive year in West London, with Fulham on track for a second top-10 finish in three seasons.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are now on course to finish outside the Premier League’s top 15 for the first time in their history, as they sit 16th in the table with five games to play.

Postecoglou’s side next face league leaders Liverpool away on Sunday, before the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Bodo/Glimt next week.

Another loss in the Premier League on Monday evening, this time to Champions League-chasing Nottingham Forest, saw Tottenham record their eighth home defeat of the campaign to leave them stranded in 16th place in the table, ahead of only West Ham United and the bottom three teams. It's set to be their worst campaign for over two decades, and that has seen current boss Ange Postecoglou come under severe pressure.

The Lilywhites have had a poor season on domestic soil

Only a Europa League campaign in which Tottenham have reached the semi-finals has kept Postecoglou in the hot seat, where they are just three games from glory on the continent if they can beat Bodo/Glimt to set up a final against Manchester United or Athletic Bilbao.

But a poor Premier League campaign, alongside being knocked out of the League Cup and FA Cup, means that Levy's tail could be up in the coming months - and that will see Iraola and Silva targeted, according to Jacobs. He said on our 'Market Madness' podcast:

"Tottenham have got a big decision to make during the summer. We know they like Andoni Iraola, but Bournemouth want to tie him down to a new deal. Marco Silva, as well, is on the radar at Spurs, but Postecoglou is just alleviating a bit of the pressure and it will be interesting now."

Iraola has dragged Bournemouth to lead the race for the 'best of the rest' outside of the top seven, and should Aston Villa or Manchester City win the FA Cup, eighth-placed in the division will earn the chance to feature in the UEFA Conference League. He's done an incredible job, having taken over a Bournemouth side who had only totted up enough points to stay up by the skin of their teeth under Gary O'Neil.

Silva, meanwhile, sits just one point behind the Cherries with his Fulham side, who have consistently been top-half challengers in the top-flight with some incredible displays, leading to him being called 'exceptional'. Both are primed to finish in the top half as it stands, and sitting at least 11 points clear of Tottenham, that could tempt Levy to make his move.

Tottenham Hotspur are uncertain to keep Ange Postecoglou even if they win the Europa League, journalist Ben Jacobs has exclusively revealed on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast.

The Lilywhites are now heading for their worst-ever Premier League finish as they sit 16th in the table with five games to go, but they still retain hopes of qualifying for continental competition through success in Europe.

However, while a trophy at the end of the season would boost Postecoglou’s chances of staying, Jacobs suggests ‘it’s not a given’ the Australian will keep his job, even if Tottenham manage to end their 17-year silverware drought in May.

Postecoglou’s Tottenham Future Uncertain

Even if Spurs win the Europa League

Jacobs, speaking on the Market Madness podcast, revealed that Postecoglou remains under pressure heading into the final few games of the season, although a Europa League win would boost his chances of staying:

“It was a big [quarter-final] win for Ange Postecoglou because we know that he's under pressure. I'm told that it's not as simple as win the Europa League and Postecoglou stays, but naturally winning it will boost his chances, but it's not a given.”

Tottenham have never finished outside the Premier League’s top 15 since the competition was formed in 1992, while they last ended a season outside the top 10 in the 2007/08 campaign, when then ended up 11th.

It is now mathematically impossible for Spurs to finish in the top seven and qualify for Europe through the league, meaning the Europa League remains their only pathway to continental football next season.

Spurs are set to face Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the semi-finals of the competition next month and would meet the winner of Manchester United v Athletic Bilbao if they reach the final.

Postecoglou’s side next face Liverpool away on Sunday, in a game where Arne Slot’s men could clinch their second-ever Premier League title.

"Are you having a wind up? Ancelotti? He's going to get the Brazil job mate, what you talking about? Yeah [he went to Everton], he was on about £18m a year, that's why he went there for half a season and he dipped as soon as Madrid phoned him."

Attracting Ancelotti to Spurs would certainly be a difficult task, and a risky appointment at the same time. As mentioned, Ancelotti took the Everton job a few years ago, but he didn't last long when Madrid came calling.

Tottenham need to find some stability with a manager as Daniel Levy has appointed and sacked a host of different coaches over the last few years. Even if Postecoglou isn't the right man to take them forward, the north London club need to find a long-term appointment that they are willing to stick by through thick and thin.

Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, and Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze, and Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on his future in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter, confirming that a move is possible this summer.

Eze has been a standout player for Palace over the last few years, and the England international might be considering testing himself at a higher level. Tottenham and Man Utd have struggled this season and will undoubtedly need reinforcements, while Liverpool will be looking to continue improving after an impressive campaign.

Palace will undoubtedly be desperate to keep Eze at Selhurst Park, but it will be tricky to stand in his way if a club comes in with a significant offer. Although the Eagles have shown signs of improvement over recent months, they are still battling in the bottom half of the Premier League.

Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano has provided an update on Eze's future at Crystal Palace. The respected journalist has confirmed that there is a possibility that Eze departs in the summer transfer window, but nothing has been decided just yet...

"Yes it’s a possibility. But nothing has been decided yet, in terms of clubs or negotiations. The situation will be one to assess in the summer."

A report from Alan Nixon recently suggested that both Manchester United and Aston Villa were interested in signing Eze ahead of the summer transfer window. Romano has also previously revealed to GIVEMESPORT that Tottenham have had Eze on their list since 2023.

Liverpool are also reportedly keen on the former QPR midfielder, so it looks set to be a competitive race to secure his signature this summer.

GIVEMESPORT sources have previously confirmed that Eze would be keen on a move to Manchester United. Although staying in London would be his preference, it won't be a deal-breaker when deciding a move.

Bournemouth are ‘quite confident’ of keeping Andoni Iraola at the club for one more season amid growing interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Fabrizio Romano has revealed on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast.

Spurs are believed to have earmarked Iraola as a potential managerial target if they decide to sack Ange Postecoglou after the season, but may be handed a blow in their pursuit of the Spaniard.

According to Romano, Bournemouth are holding talks with Iraola in an effort to keep him on the Dorset coast for at least another 12 months, with a fresh round of conversations expected to take place this week.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have Fulham boss Marco Silva as an alternative, with the two Premier League coaches considered to be among the main names on Daniel Levy’s list.

Romano, speaking on GIVEMESPORT's Market Madness podcast, revealed that Bournemouth aim to keep Iraola for one more season amid Tottenham’s interest – with the Lilywhites' potential pursuit seen as a 'concrete possibility':

“It’s true that there is also interest from Tottenham. Iraola and Marco Silva are two of the main names on the list at Tottenham for the potential new coach, in case they decide to fire Ange Postecoglou.

“So there is a concrete possibility of seeing Tottenham trying to attack the situation. But Bournemouth are talking to Iraola. They are quite confident about keeping him for one more season.

“So let's see how the conversations continue. I'm sure also this week there will be a new round of talks between Iraola and Bournemouth, but for sure, they want to keep him.”

Iraola, who took over at the Vitality Stadium in 2023, is now leading Bournemouth towards their best-ever Premier League finish, with the Cherries currently sitting eighth with five games to play.

The Spaniard, praised as 'elite', finished 12th in his first campaign and helped Bournemouth reach their highest-ever Premier League points tally, accumulating 48 points, which he has already surpassed this season with 49 so far.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are now on course for their lowest Premier League finish since the 1993/94 season, as they sit just 15th in the table.

The Lilywhites have won just once in their last six games and next welcome Nottingham Forest at home on Monday night.

Tottenham Hotspur are one of a number of sides that are interested in acquiring the services of Nico Paz, according to Fichajes.

It has been a disappointing season for Spurs, one that has seen much of their team be ravaged by injury for large portions of the campaign. The Lilywhites are, however, in the semi-finals of the Europa League, with Spurs desperate to finally bring an end to their 17-year trophy drought.

Domestically, however, things have been poor. Spurs are set for a mid-table finish, well off qualifying for Europe by their league position. They were dumped out of both domestic cup competitions also, all of which has seen pressure rise on manager Ange Postecoglou as the season has gone on.

Be it due to injury or a need for improvement, Spurs are expected to move in the summer transfer window and are seemingly already putting together a shortlist of players, featuring this particular starlet.

Spurs Keen on Paz

As per Fichajes, Spurs are one of three clubs that are interested in Nico Paz, who joined Como after their promotion to Serie A from Real Madrid. An Argentinian international, Paz showed glimpses of his quality in the Spanish capital, but it has been with Como that he has truly broken out as a player, with Paz having been dubbed as "special."

An attacking midfielder, Paz has a high understanding of the game despite his young age which, combined with his abilities on the ball, passing range, vision and a "left foot made of gold," as described on social media, makes him a highly-coveted asset.

Real Madrid implemented a buy-back clause in Paz’s departure, meaning that for a few years from 2025 onwards, Los Blancos will have the opportunity to bring Paz back to the club for a fixed fee. Spurs would, most likely, have to pay far more than Real Madrid would in order to acquire Paz’s services.

Perhaps the allure of the Premier League and consistent football within the division would tempt Paz into moving to North London, which would be a major coup for Spurs. Real Madrid are almost impossible to say no to, so should the Lilywhites pull off a deal for Paz, it should be viewed as nothing other than exceptional.

Having been retired since 2023, Gareth Bale is undoubtedly one of his era’s greatest wingers. One of the best British players to play abroad, Bale is best known for his nine-year stint with Real Madrid, where he won three La Liga titles and more notably, five Champions Leagues, three of which were consecutive between 2016 and 2018.

Though Bale sometimes found minutes hard to come by in the Spanish capital, there were never any questions over his quality. The Welshman’s performances, particularly in big games for Madrid, are still fondly remembered. In total, Bale played over 250 games for Real Madrid, notching over 150 goal contributions in those appearances.

Aside from Los Blancos, Bale is best remembered for his time with Tottenham Hotspur where, under Harry Redknapp’s management, he transitioned from a full-back to a winger, something that would pay dividends and then some in Bale’s career. Bale joined Spurs in 2007 from Southampton and would spend six years in North London, not including the 2020/21 campaign which he spent on loan with the Lilywhites.

It was with Spurs that Bale began his ascent to the top of football, with his move to Madrid in 2013 being a world-record transfer fee at the time. It should come as no surprise to learn that Bale, across his career, shared the pitch with some of the best players to ever play the game.

Back in 2021, as per TBR Football, Bale was answering questions on a livestream and named a five-a-side team made up of former Spurs players. In naming this team, Bale mentioned the best centre-back he had ever seen and the name he said may seem a surprise.

Nothing But Praise For Ledley King

Bale thinks highly of former Spurs captain

In naming his team, Bale put forward Ledley King’s name, a former captain of the club and a one-club man for the entirety of his career. Bale stated:

“I would go Ledley King at the back just because he’s the king and he was the best centre-back I’ve ever seen. If it wasn’t for injuries, he would have been the best in the world, no doubt.”

As Bale himself mentioned, King saw his career marred by injuries, which contributed to King retiring in his early 30s back in 2012. Despite that, however, King was evidently a brilliant centre-back, still ranked amongst the greatest defenders to have represented Tottenham.

Between 2002 and 2010, King made 21 appearances for England internationally, in spite of the knee issues that plagued his fitness. King would often train by himself towards the end of his career and though he did not feature much, if at all, in team training, he remained one of the best players in his side, which hardly would have been expected.

At the time of writing, King remains the most recent Spurs captain to have lifted a piece of major silverware, which he did after Spurs beat Chelsea in the 2008 League Cup final, a competition in which King was twice a runner-up. King was a player that Bale played alongside for five years, meaning that, regardless of injury, the Welshman saw first-hand just how brilliant King was as a defender.
