Tottenham Must Appoint Top Target To Replace Thomas Frank, Mikel Arteta Thinks He's Perfect - GiveMeSport
Description

Arsenal may have inadvertently told fierce rivals Tottenham the best manager they should sign as Thomas Frank's replacement to get them challenging at the top of the Premier League table, if the Dane is sacked this week - Roberto De Zerbi.

Rumours are swirling that Frank's position as Spurs head coach is becoming untenable after Saturday's Premier League defeat to West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs have lost nine of their 22 Premier League games this season - six of those defeats coming at home - and sit 14th in the table, ten points clear of the relegation zone.

Thomas Frank Has Tottenham Belief

Frank is preparing his team for the visit of Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night and came out fighting during his pre-match press conference.

"I know it’s part of the media circus and the only focus I have is to do everything I can for us to win tomorrow against Dortmund," he said.

"I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again – as long as we win football matches and make sure we do that, and win enough of them, then everyone will support us.

"I'm not in doubt [that I can win the fans back]. I think you can say in this game, you always need to show resilience."

There is a groundswell of opinion within the fanbase that Frank's time is up and following the defeat to the Hammers on Saturday, internal talks took place in the boardroom at Tottenham to discuss his position.

Names In The Frame To Replace Thomas Frank

Plenty of names have been linked with replacing him - Oliver Glasner and Xabi Alonso chief among them given the news around their futures this week. One man who has been linked in the past but not so much this time around is former Brighton boss De Zerbi, although he was named as a 'top target' for Spurs earlier this month.

The Italian has Marseille in third place in Ligue Un just past the halfway stage of the season and in a good position to qualify for the play-off round of the UEFA Champions League as well.

He has been linked with a return to the Premier League on a number of occasions since departing Brighton in 2024, with Manchester United looking at him as they seek a permanent manager in the summer.

But Tottenham could do a lot worse than making a move for him either now or in the summer, according to fierce North London rivals Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta Thinks De Zerbi Is Right For Ethan Nwaneri

The Gunners, much to the anguish of the Tottenham supporters, are flying high at the top of the Premier League table this season and look well on course to win the title for the first time since 2004. They are seven points clear of Manchester City and Aston Villa with 16 games of the campaign to go.

News emerged on Tuesday morning that manager Mikel Arteta was prepared to let teenage star Ethan Nwaneri make the loan move to Marseille before the January transfer window closes, to team up with De Zerbi.

The Athletic's transfer guru David Ornstein explained the reasons behind a potential move in his Deal Sheet piece.

Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi has held positive talks with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Nwaneri, with the Italian and his style of play a prominent factor in the Ligue 1 side being favoured by their Premier League counterparts.

Marseille's style of play has been seen as perfect for Nwaneri to hone his craft before returning to Arsenal to play in Arteta's system as he improves.

De Zerbi had Brighton playing free-flowing, attacking football that was easy on the eye before moving to France a year-and-a-half ago and has a big supporter in Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola described De Zerbi as "one of the most influential managers" while he was in charge of the Seagulls.

Speaking in 2024, Guardiola said: "He's brave, it doesn't matter which opponent he faces, he wants to impose his game, the process he does in the build-up, they are just exceptional.

"I think he's the perfect person to be in the world of football because his teams are so attractive. Always when I'm sitting at home I like to watch it and when I'm his opponent I suffer!

"I am pretty convinced I am right in what I am saying: he is one of the most influential managers of the last 20 years. There is no team playing in the way they play. It’s unique."

Description

Micky van de Ven is refusing to sign a new Tottenham Hotspur contract until a new ‘elite’ manager replaces Thomas Frank, according to journalist Deal Jones.

The Dutch defende is believed to have delayed talks over a new deal amid Spurs’ dismal season under Frank, with the club lingering in 14th place in the Premier League.

Jones claims Van de Ven could be tempted by interest from rival clubs after the season, with Liverpool credited with genuine admiration for the 24-year-old, while Real Madrid are also keeping an eye on the situation.

Frank’s future at Spurs has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, but the Dane is expected to remain in charge for their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

Tottenham Risk Losing Micky van de Ven

According to Jones, Tottenham face losing Van de Ven if their campaign is not salvaged, as he has been unconvinced by the project under Frank so far:

“Tottenham risk seeing their fears of losing Van de Ven intensify unless a new elite manager is in place by next summer.

“The Dutch defender has not yet agreed a new deal and is believed to have delayed the issue while Thomas Frank has been in charge.

“He has been one of the few players to show spells of consistency and decent form this season, but Tottenham face losing him if their season is not salvaged as he has been unconvinced by the project.”

Spurs are believed to have started drawing up potential replacements for Frank in recent weeks amid their disappointing domestic campaign.

The Lilywhites were knocked out of the FA Cup earlier this month and have failed to win their last five games across all competitions.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Frank’s Premier League average points-per-game record of 1.23 is the worst of Spurs’ last eight managers.

Since the start of November, Frank’s side have picked up just two wins in the Premier League from 13 matches, beating his former club Brentford and Crystal Palace.

Spurs Facing Van de Ven Crisis?

With Van de Ven’s £112,000-a-week contract running until June 2029, Spurs are still in a strong negotiating position if any clubs end up calling for the Dutch defender after the season.

However, his reported reluctance to pen a new deal could raise concerns in north London, particularly considering he has been one of the most consistent players this season.

The 24-year-old has six goals from 29 appearances in all competitions, ranking second only to Richarlison, who has eight – a remarkable return for a centre-back.

Spurs will get a sense of how their defence may look without Van de Ven on Tuesday, with the defender set to miss the Borussia Dortmund game through suspension.

Tottenham Eyeing Move to Sign 'Complete' Premier League Midfielder for Thomas Frank

Tottenham Eyeing Move to Sign 'Complete' Premier League Midfielder for Thomas Frank - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, according to reliable Merseyside reporter Paul Joyce.

Spurs appear to be in the market for a new midfielder, despite already bringing in Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid earlier in the January transfer window. Tottenham's injury troubles might accelerate their plans to add further bodies in the middle of the park, with Joao Palhinha the latest player to suffer a fitness blow.

Rodrigo Bentancur has been ruled out for an extended period, leaving Thomas Frank short of options in midfield. Spurs are also without the likes of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, who are alternative, more attacking options for Frank. As a result of their injury woes, we could see them dip further into the market this month.

Tottenham Eyeing Liverpool Midfielder

According to journalist Joyce, who is one of the most reliable reporters when it comes to transfer news on Merseyside, Tottenham are one of the teams interested in signing midfielder Jones. Joyce has hinted that Jones might be feeling that it is time to become more of a guaranteed starter as well, perhaps opening the door for Spurs to make a move to secure his signature.

The English midfielder, described as 'complete' by Arne Slot, is undoubtedly one of the best up-and-coming players in the Premier League, but with Liverpool regularly spending big, he's far from a guaranteed starter. Tottenham could certainly be in the market for another midfielder despite the arrival of Gallagher, considering their current injury struggles, while the north London club are also battling in the bottom half of the Premier League table, meaning reinforcements might be necessary to turn things around.

It's an Important Window for Tottenham

It's an incredibly important January transfer window for Tottenham, and they desperately need to get things right. For a club of their stature, they can't be competing in the bottom half of the table, and although manager Frank takes a portion of the blame, the board need to back him with new additions to help bolster the squad.

If Spurs fail to qualify for Europe this season, it could have huge financial implications on the club, and will also hamper their efforts to sign elite-level players in the future. A change of manager might solve things, but reinforcements will also be hugely beneficial.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur may well be back in the transfer market for a new striker in the summer, according to journalist Alasdair Gold - with the journalist believing that the club won't be looking to get a permanent deal over the line for Randal Kolo Muani in the summer.

Spurs landed the Frenchman on loan in the summer from Paris Saint-Germain, having impressed at Juventus last season with eight goals in 16 Serie A games, but he's yet to score in the Premier League in 14 outings.

Two goals in the Champions League have hardly helped his case too much, and according to Gold, the club won't sanction a permanent move for the Frenchman due to his poor presence in the area.

Gold: Kolo Muani 'Almost Certainly' Won't be Kept on By Tottenham

Speaking on his personal YouTube channel, Gold claimed that /, due to his poor goal record and his lack of striking ability as an out-and-out striker.

Gold said: "He's labelled as a striker, but my goodness, if you watch his play around the box, you'd struggle to see him throw himself at anything like a natural striker would,

"At this point in time I cannot see a world where Spurs are making his deal permanent, unless there is an incredible turnaround the rest of the season for him."

Kolo Muani, who earns £150,000-a-week at Spurs, has excelled in France and Germany, scoring goals aplenty for Nantes and Paris Saint-Germain in his home country as well as 26 goals in 50 games for Eintracht Frankfurt. But he hasn't quite cracked the English code and Spurs may be on their way to securing another recruit to replace him.

Tottenham Have a Massive Problem in Terms of Goalscoring

Dominic Solanke turned out to be Harry Kane's replacement after the latter joined Bayern Munich in 2023, though he's also not been on the scoresheet this season due to injury.

It's been down to Richarlison to notch the bulk of Tottenham's goals, and the next best are Micky van de Ven, Joao Palhinha, Mathys Tel and Cristiano Romero on three each.

That needs to be redefined for next season, regardless of who the new manager is, given the poor form under Thomas Frank. It's been a dreary run of form for the past 18 months for Tottenham in the Premier League under both the Dane and Ange Postecoglou, and a lack of goalscoring threat has highlighted that massively. It's a huge issue that the Lewis family need to fix immediately.

Tottenham Must Get Rid of 14 Players After Thomas Frank Sack Decision

14 Players Need To Leave Tottenham in Major Overhaul After Thomas Frank Sack Decision - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur's UEFA Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night could be Thomas Frank's last game in charge of the club.

The Dane is coming under increasing pressure in N17, with the home defeat to West Ham on Saturday leading to internal talks at the club over his position as head coach.

Spurs sit 14th in the Premier League table, five points adrift of even the top half, let alone the European places. Things have been better in the Champions League and if Spurs pick up any kind of result on Tuesday night they should at least make it through to the play-off round before the last 16.

Achieving that will be no mean feat, however, with Dortmund flying high in second place in the Bundesliga table having only been beaten once this season - by Bayern Munich.

Frank has had his issues this season and whether you can blame him entirely for the club's failings, due to his style of football is up for debate.

Tottenham have gone through too many managers since Mauricio Pochettino was sacked in 2019 - going through Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte, Ange Postecoglou and now Frank, before you even mention the interim bosses Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason. At some point you have to look at the players when it comes to passing blame.

Here at GIVEMESPORT we thought we'd run the rule over Frank's squad and whether or not he remains in charge, the players that any incoming boss should decide to keep or sell.

Are any of the goalkeepers worth keeping?

Guglielmo Vicario - He is the undisputed No.1 at Spurs, but has he shown enough to warrant staying there for the long-term? Has come under fire from sections of the fanbase on more than one occasion and while a good shotstopper, does not always have the best distribution, nor does he always command his box well. SELL

Antonin Kinsky - Has not had enough of a run in the first team to make an affirmative decision. He is only 22 and has plenty of time on his side to prove his worth. KEEP

Brandon Austin - The only club-trained player in the squad. Got a few chances last season due to injuries and is contracted until 2029. Is unlikely to fetch much in the way of a transfer fee. KEEP

The Spurs defence needs an overhaul

Pedro Porro - The Spaniard is one of the names to have come in for criticism this season, following a disappointing campaign under Postecoglou last year. On his day gets forward incredibly well and can deliver a mean ball into the box, but his defending leaves a lot to be desired at times and his delivery this season - until that magnificent cross for Cristian Romero's header against West Ham - has been poor. SELL

Djed Spence - Clearly very talented and has something about him. Has pace to ensure he can get out of trouble going backwards better than some players and loves to get forward, doing it so well when afford the opportunity to do so. Can frustrate, but that may be down to how bad Spurs have been in his two seasons in the first team. KEEP

Destiny Udogie - Has been injured a lot and Spurs have really missed him. He is a top left-back on his day and does not really take any blame for performances since he's been with the club. KEEP

Ben Davies - A Spurs stalwart and will always give you a six or seven out of ten. Never first choice, but a good, solid squad player. KEEP

Cristian Romero - The Tottenham captain and a World Cup winner. He is a leader, but he's not really leading the club in the right direction under Frank right now. He's a hot head and can be a liability and has been linked with an exit a number of times. Do Spurs need to keep him to achieve their goals? I'm not sure. SELL

Micky van de Ven - The one player Spurs should not entertain leaving. Van de Ven is a superb defender and could be a future captain, too, given he has worn the armband in Romero's absence. The fans love him, but he will feel the disconnect as much as anyone and will know if things don't improve he would be loved elsewhere. KEEP

Radu Dragusin - Has suffered with injuries and has never managed a proper run in the team. Hasn't been able to properly adapt to the Premier League with a bit-part role. Would be interested to see how he got on for an extended period in the team. Has been linked with an exit and if the club can get reasonable money for him, he could be allowed to leave. SELL

Kevin Danso - Not sure what his role in the team is. He is a committed defender and will throw himself about, but is he of the calibre Tottenham want and need to push on? SELL

Midfield has potential

Archie Gray - Big things were expected of the former Leeds man. Since he has come in it feels like he has played almost every position. He always gives it his all and crucially wants the ball. In a better system he will flourish. KEEP

Lucas Bergvall - The other teenage midfielder brought in to the club with huge fan fare. All action Swede needs better players around him and also a better system to play in. He will be a star. KEEP

Rodrigo Bentancur - A top player on his day but injuries have hit him hard and while there are some excellent performances, some games can completely pass him by. SELL

Joao Palhinha - One the the standouts this season in Frank's more pragmatic approach. Only on loan from Bayern Munich but either in this regime or in a different one, probably has a role to play. KEEP

Pape Matar Sarr - Has shown flashes of the energy that Spurs fans want to see in the midfield. Has the legs and an eye for goal. Probably deserves to stay. KEEP

Yves Bissouma - May have done well in his comeback game against West Ham on Saturday but with less than a year on his contract his time looks up. SELL

James Maddison - Spurs have missed his creativity this season. A leader and someone who can fit into any style of play. KEEP

Conor Gallagher - Recently signed from Atletico Madrid. Was not only wanted by Frank but by Postecolgou before him. And shone under Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea. Will do well under any manager. KEEP

Xavi Simons - Took time to get used to the pace of the Premier League, but has shown glimpses of his quality. Will do much better in a more attacking setup. KEEP

Spurs are in the market for forwards

Wilson Odobert - Has plenty of time on his side at just 21 years of age and probably deserves time under a more attacking coach to really see what he can do, given his injuries under Postecoglou last year. KEEP

Mathys Tel - Has looked energetic and one of Spurs' better players when he has been given the chance to play this season. Like Odobert has time on his side and could thrive in a different setup. KEEP

Dejan Kulusevski - Remember him? An excellent forward player who Spurs have missed dreadfully. Will be interesting to see how he returns from injury. KEEP

Mohammed Kudus - A frustrating player. Can turn it on with the click of the fingers, but can also be either anonymous or run down dark alleys holding onto the ball unnecessarily. A new signing, so you probably keep him. KEEP

Richarlison - Tottenham's top scorer this season and always seems to have some sort of impact, despite often looking like he's not in the game. Spurs probably need to upgrade though. SELL

Dominic Solanke - Deserves more time after injury this season. He knows where the back of the net is and his hold-up play and all-round game are spot on. KEEP

Randal Kolo Muani - What does he actually do? He's only on loan, so he can't technically be sold, but don't think he should stay beyond this season. LET GO

Dane Scarlett - Had had chances in the first team and does not look like he is cut out for Spurs. SELL

What about the loan players?

Ashley Phillips - Does not loo like he will make it at Spurs. SELL

Kota Takai - Not seen him yet so needs a chance to prove himself. KEEP

Luka Vuskovic - Has earned rave reviews in Hamburg and there are high hopes for him. KEEP

Alfie Devine - Young player who looks set for a move elsewhere. SELL

Mikey Moore - Has done really well in Scotland and will be looking to make an impact on his return to N17. KEEP

Manor Solomon - Probably time to go for good. SELL

Yang min-hyeok - Same as Takai. KEEP

Top Target: Liverpool Preparing £78m Bid to Sign 'Special' Premier League Star

Top Target: Liverpool Preparing £78m Bid to Sign 'Special' Premier League Star - GiveMeSport
Description

Liverpool could be about to make Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Micky van de Ven one of the most expensive defenders in footballing history, according to reports - with the reigning Premier League champions making the Dutchman their top target for the summer.

Liverpool won the Premier League title last season, though this season's trophy defence hasn't gone as planned, failing to beat all three promoted teams at home and sitting 14 points behind leaders Arsenal with just 16 games to go.

Their defence has struggled this season, being just the tenth strongest in the Premier League, being more leaky than the likes of Everton, Brighton and newly-promoted Sunderland, a key facet to their struggles. And that has seen Arne Slot earmark Van de Ven as a top target to fix the issue.

Report: Liverpool Preparing 'Huge £78m Investment' to Sign Tottenham Star Micky Van de Ven

The report by Spanish outlet Fichajes states that Liverpool are preparing a 'major investment' to strengthen their defence, with a top-level centre-back being scouted by the Reds in the form of Van de Ven.

The Dutchman, who would act as compatriot Virgl van Dijk's successor for both club and country, has impressed at Tottenham Hotspur with his athletic displays, and with nine goals in just 80 games for the north London side, he can contribute at both ends of the pitch.

The Anfield outfit are planning the future of their defence, with Van Dijk set to turn 35 by the start of next season, and the summer transfer window will be key to sorting their defence out for the coming years.

'Special' Van de Ven is thought to be their top target, and they are thought to be willing to offer up to £78million for the defender, who has established himself as one of the most reliable centre-backs in the Premier League in recent seasons.

Spurs have no intention of letting him go, and the star is under contract until 2029, though £78million would be a difficult fee to refuse for the north London outfit, despite Van de Ven being labelled as a 'modern centre-back'.

Van de Ven Would be an Ideal Long-Term Replacement for Virgil van Dijk

Van de Ven regularly ranks amongst the quickest players in the Premier League, and his physicality alongside his mental game allows him to cover large areas of the pitch - thus allowing Liverpool to play a high line.

It's something they've massively benefitted from in recent seasons. Formerly, wing-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson would fly up the pitch, squeezing clubs into defensive formations with Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate covering at the back.

Van Dijk is aging and Konate has lost his form, so a new star is needed, and Van de Ven could be central to that.

Tottenham Considering 'Perfect' 42-Year-Old Manager to Replace Thomas Frank - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur assistant coach John Heitinga is a potential caretaker candidate should Thomas Frank be sacked, according to The Times journalist Tom Allnutt.

The north London side are believed to be contemplating whether to part ways with the Danish tactician following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham.

The lack of clear alternatives to replace Frank mid-season is claimed to be part of Spurs’ dilemma, as the club board feel a wrong appointment could push them into a relegation battle.

After 22 games, Spurs are languishing 14th in the Premier League table, eight points off the top five and 10 points off the relegation zone.

Spurs Could Promote John Heitinga

According to The Times, Heitinga is viewed as a possible candidate to take over temporarily at Tottenham, just days after being hired as Frank’s assistant last week.

The Danish tactician played a significant role in helping choose Heitinga for his backroom team, after being impressed with the former Everton defender’s record working with individual players.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Frank’s Premier League average points-per-game record of 1.23 is the worst of Tottenham’s last eight managers.

Heitinga, praised for having ‘the perfect profile’ by Frank, was an assistant to Arne Slot at Liverpool last season before taking over at Dutch giants Ajax in May.

His tenure with the Eredivisie side lasted only four months, during which Ajax secured five wins in 15 games across all competitions.

Frank penned a three-year contract with Tottenham following his appointment in June, replacing sacked Ange Postecoglou, who ended the club’s 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League last season.

John Heitinga’s Coaching Career So Far

Heitinga began his coaching career in 2016, following a 15-year professional playing career during which he played for Ajax, Everton, Atletico Madrid, Fulham and Hertha Berlin.

The 42-year-old spent the first seven years of his post-playing career at Ajax, where he worked with youth teams and took interim charge of the senior side in January 2023.

Ahead of the 2023/24 season, Heitinga joined David Moyes’ backroom staff at West Ham, before being appointed Liverpool’s assistant coach in July 2024.

After helping the Reds to the Premier League title last term, Heitinga returned to Ajax for a full-time managerial role, which lasted just 15 games.

Tottenham Eyeing Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham are interested in appointing former manager Mauricio Pochettino as Frank’s permanent successor after the season.

Tottenham Offer Job to Xavi as Thomas Frank Future 'Hanging by a Thread'

Tottenham Offer Job to 'Best Manager in the World' as Thomas Frank Update Emerges - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly offered the manager's job to former Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez, with Spurs believing it's time to explore different options in the dugout, according to Fichajes.

It's been a season of disappointment for Spurs, who currently sit in 14th position in the Premier League table, with just two wins under their belt at home. Pressure has mounted even further on the manager after their loss against struggling West Ham United at the weekend, with Nuno Espirito Santo's side failing to win in their previous nine games before their short trip to north London.

David Ornstein recently reported that Frank has lost some of the support of his players, with 'many' dissatisfied with the job he is currently doing at Tottenham. The respected journalist also claimed that it's a matter of when, not if, Frank is sacked as manager.

Tottenham Offer Job to Xavi

According to a report from Fichajes, Tottenham have made contact with Xavi to offer him the manager's job. It's claimed that Frank's future is now 'hanging by a thread' with Spurs believing it's time for them to explore other options in the dugout.

It's unclear whether Xavi is willing to accept the offer as it stands, 'calmly' analysing the situation as he waits on the right opportunity for his next role. Xavi, described as 'the best manager in the world' by Joan Laporta, will see his future decided in the coming months, but Spurs clearly want to bring him in as soon as possible, with Frank walking on thin ice.

Whether Xavi accepts the reported offer remains to be seen, but Spurs aren't the only club in the race for his signature, and the Spanish manager has some decisions to make in the coming days.

Tottenham's Season is Far From Over

Although Spurs sit in 14th position in the Premier League table, their season is far from over, especially if they bring in a new manager to kickstart some momentum. The north London club are just six points away from seventh, and nine points away from the top four.

The Premier League is incredibly tight between 16th and fourth, so there's opportunities all across the division for clubs to put a run together and climb the table. With Spurs also competing in the Champions League, there is plenty for a new manager to get their teeth into if a chance if made in the near future.

David Ornstein Reveals What 'Many' Tottenham Players Now Think About Thomas Frank - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is under pressure after a disappointing result against West Ham United, and David Ornstein has now claimed that 'many' Spurs players are 'dissatisfied' with the manager at the moment.

It's been an incredibly poor season for Tottenham under Frank, who arrived from Brentford in the summer. Their recent result against West Ham was particularly disappointing, with the Hammers competing in the relegation zone in the Premier League. Spurs conceded late on to a Callum Wilson goal, with their home form this campaign even more unacceptable than it already was.

Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Frank's job at Tottenham isn't safe after their recent defeat, while GIVEMESPORT sources have also confirmed that talks have taken place behind the scenes in terms of a potential sacking.

Speaking on his Instagram story, Ornstein has provided an update on Frank at Tottenham, suggesting that it's a matter of 'when, not if' in terms of the Danish manager departing. The respected reporter also adds that 'many' Spurs players are currently dissatisfied with how things are going under the current manager.

"It's a critical situation for Thomas Frank at Tottenham Hotspur. As things stand, he remains in position, and Tottenham play in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. So, possibly he gets to take charge of that. There is still a lot of goodwill behind Thomas Frank internally at Tottenham, they want him to succeed, but I think there is a great deal of realism too. There's an acceptance that that might not happen, which makes me think it's a matter of when, not if, he will go. Of course, there's a chance of a dramatic upturn, but I think that's looking improbable, especially when the fans have turned against him and the hierarchy. Also, from what we hear, many players are understandably dissatisfied, feeling that, not that Thomas Frank is out of his depth, but perhaps he wasn't the right fit for this job."

It's never a good sign when the players are showing dissatisfaction towards the manager, and it usually means that the writing is on the wall. If the squad aren't going to buy into the manager's ideas, then it's going to be incredibly difficult for them to turn things around.

Time for Frank to Leave Tottenham

There are a host of reasons why Tottenham should be looking to move on from Frank, and the players being dissatisfied is the latest. Spurs currently sit in 14th position in the Premier League table, while their home form ranks them in 17th position.

Although it doesn't really matter where the results come from, producing just two wins from 11 Premier League games in front of your own fans simply isn't good enough. There are thousands of fans paying a lot of money to watch them every other week, and the performances from Frank's side at the moment are worthy of being sacked.

Glasner Alternative: Tottenham Eyeing Record-Breaking Premier League Manager - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are discussing the future of Thomas Frank after their recent defeat at home to West Ham United, and they are now eyeing a move to appoint Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler.

Spurs have been on a tricky run of form of late under Frank, but their latest defeat was one that will have caused huge concern. They face the Hammers at home, a game which a side of Tottenham's calibre would expect to win, especially with Nuno Espirito Santo's side struggling heading into the match, sitting in the relegation zone.

The pressure is undoubtedly mounting on Frank in north London, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that the Tottenham board are holding talks to discuss his future at the club. Whether he's sacked following the defeat against West Ham remains to be seen, but another bad result could be the end.

Tottenham Eyeing Record-Breaking Manager

According to a report from Football Insider, Tottenham are now eyeing Brighton manager Hurzeler as a 'top' target to replace Frank. It's claimed that Frank's sacking is edging closer, and Spurs are now looking for an ambitious, young replacement.

Breaking the record to become the youngest manager in Premier League history, Hurzeler would certainly fit that profile. Other reports have suggested that Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is also a target for Spurs, but Football Insider have failed to mention the Austrian's name in their report.

The report also includes a mention of Mauricio Pochettino, who is believed to be another option for Spurs, but any move would have to wait until after the World Cup, with their former manager currently in charge of the USA.

Tottenham Must Make Quick Decision

There's no doubt Tottenham need further reinforcements in the January market, on top of Conor Gallagher, especially after selling Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace. The future of Frank being up in the air can't be helping them in pursuit of options, and Tottenham need to speak out about the manager's future at the club.

A potential target might be concerned by all the media speculation surrounding the future of Frank, not knowing whether he's going to be in charge for the remainder of the season if they sign on the dotted line. Spurs also face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday, so a decision has to be made in the coming hours if they are going to relieve him of his duties.
