Description

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is being urged by top managerial target Thomas Frank to land Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze if Hotspur Way recruitment chiefs cannot win the race to strike a deal for Brentford talisman Bryan Mbeumo, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Spurs are preparing to enter a new era ahead of next season getting underway as, despite ending the north Londoners' 17-year trophy drought by beating domestic counterparts Manchester United in the Europa League final in May, Ange Postecoglou was sacked last week.

Frank is edging towards leaving Brentford to become the Greek-Australian tactician's successor, having already agreed to be installed as Tottenham's new boss following productive discussions behind the scenes, and he is wasting no time in pinpointing potential summer acquisitions.

Spurs Consider Negotiating Late Deal for Eze

North Londoners earmark England international as possible recruit

Frank has approved Tottenham attempting to sign Eze if they cannot hijack Manchester United's move for Mbeumo, according to GMS sources, and the north Londoners are on course to push for his signature later in the summer if it becomes clear that they can afford a deal and their ambitions align with his vision for next season and beyond.

Spurs and other admirers have an opportunity to leave Crystal Palace helpless as the England international has a £68million release clause written into his contract, leading to ongoing uncertainty over whether he will still be at Selhurst Park by the time the transfer window slams shut on September 1.

GMS sources have been informed that Frank is on board with the prospect of Tottenham upping the ante in their pursuit of Eze, who grabbed the winner as his current employers overcame Manchester City in the FA Cup final last month, if they are beaten to Mbeumo's services and are forced to turn their attentions towards alternative targets.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has been described as a 'superstar' by Champions League winner Jamie Carragher and, with Spurs being in the market for fresh creativity in the final third of the pitch, it has not been ruled out that he will be offered the chance to embark on a fresh challenge across the capital.

Tottenham have earmarked Eze as a target even though it has been acknowledged that they could face difficulty triggering his release clause, GMS sources have learned, and the possibility of reaching an agreement will depend on the structure of the deal and make-up of the payments.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Eberechi Eze registered four shots and found the back of the net twice during Crystal Palace's victory over Tottenham Hotspur last month

Mbeumo Remains on Radar as Leading Target

Cameroon international could follow Frank from across capital

GMS sources have been told that Tottenham are still in the market for Mbeumo, even though Manchester United appear to be the frontrunners for his signature, and they will only move onto the likes of Eze if they are forced to accept that they will not come out on top in the battle for the Cameroon international.

Spurs are playing catch-up in the chase for the wide forward as the Red Devils are poised to lodge a fresh bid worth in excess of £60million after already having a £55million offer rejected by Brentford, but there is hope in north London that Frank's expected appointment will result in a reunion being wanted.

Levy and other members of the Tottenham hierarchy are becoming more open-minded about making a marquee signing after securing Champions League qualification, GMS sources understand, leading to Eze and Mbeumo being firmly on their radar as they contemplate raiding top flight rivals for fresh attacking impetus.

GMS sources recently revealed that Spurs are in danger of missing out on landing Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth, with the south coast side not wanting to offload numerous regular starters in the same transfer window, but they remain determined to upgrade their squad in preparation for next term.

Fabrizio Romano Reveals Bryan Mbeumo's 'Priority' Move - Man Utd or Tottenham - GiveMeSport
Description

Manchester United are pushing to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo in the summer transfer window, and Fabrizio Romano, writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, has discussed the prospect of Tottenham Hotspur making a move, confirming that the Cameroon international is prioritising joining Ruben Amorim's side.

Mbeumo could be on the move in the summer transfer window, with United one of the sides showing an interest. The Red Devils have reportedly offered him around £200,000-a-week to join the club, while Romano has previously claimed that they submitted an official bid of around £55m for the Brentford man.

Mbeumo enjoyed a sensational season in the Premier League, scoring a whopping 20 goals in England's top flight. Naturally, clubs are beginning to show an interest in signing him from Brentford, who could be forced into a sale with his contract running down.

Tottenham and Man Utd linked

Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano has provided an update on Manchester United's pursuit of Mbeumo, after reports emerged that Tottenham could make a move to secure his signature...

"Mbeumo is waiting for Man United as a priority. Thomas Frank is close to Spurs so we will see what happens if he joins; but Mbeumo at the moment is waiting to see what happens with United."

Over the weekend, reports have suggested that Tottenham could make a double Brentford raid of Thomas Frank and Mbeumo. Spurs are pushing to appoint Frank after Ange Postecoglou was relieved of his duties, and there's no doubt he'd be keen to bring Mbeumo with him if he does get the job.

With Romano suggesting that Mbeumo is prioritising a move to United for now, it will be interesting to see whether that changes if Frank joins Tottenham. The duo worked wonders together at Brentford and Spurs will have Champions League football. As a result, United will be desperate to get a deal wrapped up as soon as possible.

Forget Mbeumo: Frank's First Tottenham Signing Should be 22 y/o 'Superstar' - GiveMeSport
Description

Thomas Frank could be Ange Postecoglou's replacement, but he must ignore the temptation to reunite with Bryan Mbeumo and instead push Tottenham Hotspur to win the race for Xavi Simons as his first signing.

The Brentford manager has become Spurs' top target to replace Postecoglou following the Australian's sacking on Friday (June 6). GIVEMESPORT sources understand that several meetings have taken place between the Dane and Daniel Levy.

Frank hasn't even arrived at the North London giants and there's already talk of Mbeumo following him to the Lilywhites. Reports suggest the Europa League winners could hijack Manchester United's move for the £60m rated Bees forward.

To Be Frank: Simons Should Be Spurs' Top Target

Dutch ace should be priortised over Mbeumo

It's easy to immediately talk up a player following their former manager to a new club and there is evidence that their experience comes in handy. If Frank were to arrive at Tottenham and Mbeumo were to follow after, there is a good chance the 25-year-old will continue where he left off under the current Brentford manager.

Mbeumo finished in the top five of the Premier League's goalscoring charts last season with 20 goals. He's proven, but he's not Simons.

Simons has become one of the most exciting prospects in Europe and has been linked with the North Londoners ahead of an expected RB Leipzig exit this summer.

'Superstar' Simons caught the eye during the Netherlands' Euro 2024 campaign, producing a stunning strike in a 2-1 semi-final loss to England. He is an "electric" attacker whose versatility allows him to flourish in attacking midfield, out on the left (Son Heung-min needs a long-term replacement), on the right, and as a second striker.

Former Tottenham midfielder Rafael van dar Vaart described how enormously talented the 22-year-old was back in 2023 (via Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo):

"When I look at his potential, I see that he can become the best player in the world. Believe me: In a few years we'll all be saying: 'It's good to be able to have this kid in our national team."

Those comments came amid Simons ascending to the role of PSV Eindhoven's main protagonist just before turning 20. He showed maturity beyond his years and struck a remarkable tally of 19 goals and eight assists.

Simons adapted to life in Germany with Leipzig with ease after joining from parent club Paris Saint-Germain after his impressive Euro 2024 exploits. He became one of Europe's most highly sought-after talents and his stock has continued to grow.

The Netherlands international is the high-profile signing that would indicate Levy wants to build on a first major trophy in 17 years by luring the very best to North London. Sometimes you're better off hitting the refresh button and Simons would be just that.

'Deal Agreed' - Tottenham Set to Appoint 'One of the Best Managers' - GiveMeSport
Description

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has agreed a deal to become the new Tottenham Hotspur manager, journalist Jake Sanders has revealed.

The Danish tactician is reportedly close to becoming Ange Postecoglou’s successor in North London after the Australian was sacked last week, despite guiding Spurs to a Europa League triumph.

Frank is now set to end his seven-year spell with Brentford, though the two clubs have yet to agree on compensation for the 51-year-old’s departure.

It is believed a deal for Frank, praised as 'one of the best managers', could cost Spurs around £10m, as he has two years remaining on his contract with the Bees.

Postecoglou departed Tottenham following their dismal domestic campaign, which saw the North London club finish 17th in the table – their lowest-ever Premier League finish.

Frank will be tasked with overseeing a significant improvement in the league after Postecoglou recorded a club-record 22 league defeats and just 11 wins.

The Danish coach is now expected to become the fourth permanent Spurs boss in as many years, having emerged as the front-runner ahead of fellow Premier League managers Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola.

The 51-year-old, who joined Brentford in 2018, guided the Bees to a 10th-placed finish this season – their second top-half finish in the last three years.

It is believed Frank would like to bring his top goalscorer Bryan Mbeumo with him to Spurs this summer, though a deal for the Cameroonian may prove difficult.

The 25-year-old is giving priority to a move to Manchester United, with club-to-club talks ongoing over his potential summer switch to Old Trafford.

Mbeumo enjoyed a career-best season under Frank in the Premier League, scoring 20 goals and providing eight assists in 38 appearances.

Description

Tottenham's new prospective manager Thomas Frank has reportedly demanded the club sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, according to the Mirror.

Spurs parted ways with Ange Postecoglou last week and, despite winning the Europa League, a dismal 17th-placed finish in the Premier League was difficult to overlook. The managerial post has since been linked with the likes of Frank and Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, but it is the former who is increasingly likely to be appointed in the role.

Now, it has been revealed that if Frank were to leave life at the Gtech Community stadium for North London, he would insist on bringing Mbeumo with him.

Frank Urges Tottenham to Sign Mbeumo

The Lilywhites could raid Brentford

As per the Mirror, Frank's switch to Tottenham could be completed as early as next week and the Danish tactician has told Daniel Levy and his entourage to ensure Mbeumo makes the move as well.

It is Manchester United who are the most advanced in pursuit of the Cameroonian thus far. The Red Devils have been given the green light by the player, and are currently working to reach an agreement with the Bees, who are holding out for close to £60 million.

Spurs would offer around £130,000 per week in wages and this is some way short of the Red Devils' contract proposal, which is closer to the £200,000-per-week mark. But the prospect of continuing under Frank's tutelage while also featuring in the Champions League could be enough to turn Mbeumo away from a move to Old Trafford and towards Tottenham instead.

Dubbed "very quick", Mbeumo was among the best wingers in the Premier League last season. He notched a remarkable 20 league goals and served up a further seven assists for his teammates in what was his best campaign yet.

The 25-year-old's arrival could boost Tottenham's attacking threat by a significant margin, though it remains to be seen what decision he makes on his future.

Fabrizio Romano: 'Genius' Manager 'Rejects' Tottenham After Contact Made

Fabrizio Romano: 'Genius' Manager 'Rejects' Tottenham After Contact Made - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur's search for a new boss has already seen them rejected by one gaffer in an approach to land his services earlier this month, according to reports - with former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi being the man to have turned the Lilywhites down in order to stay at Marseille.

Ange Postecoglou was sacked earlier this week, leaving a vacancy in the dugout in north London - and that has left Daniel Levy searching for his replacement ahead of pre-season starting up once again, with De Zerbi reportedly being contacted by Spurs ahead of a potential move for his services.

Report: Tottenham 'Made Approach' for De Zerbi to Replace Postecoglou

The Lilywhites must appoint a new boss to replace the Australian

The report by Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter) states that Spurs approached De Zerbi in recent days, but the Italian head coach rejected the role - as he wanted to stay at Marseille. Spurs sacked Postecoglou on Friday afternoon after a shocking domestic campaign clouded their Europa League success, in which the Lilywhites won a trophy for the first time in 17 years under the Greek-Australian boss.

A 17th-placed finish in the Premier League is Tottenham's worst in the competition's history, and that saw Daniel Levy opt for the former Celtic boss to exit - opening the door to potential candidates.

Thomas Frank of Brentford remains the most-talked-about option after his efforts with the Bees, but De Zerbi has also proven himself massively in the Premier League. Brighton finished 6th in the league under the Italian boss in the 2022/23 season, also reaching the last 16 of the Europa League on the south coast the following campaign before being knocked out by Roma.

Moving to Marseille after having differences with Brighton's board, De Zerbi finished second in his first season with the side from south France, scoring 74 goals in just 34 Ligue 1 games - securing Champions League football in the league phase for next season, which has seen him called a 'genius'.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Roberto de Zerbi won 26 of his 70 Premier League games with Brighton.

De Zerbi's football is somewhat similar to Postecoglou's, being patient in their build-up with a focus on playing out from the back and drawing the opposition in before hitting them on the transition - and his adaptability to the Europa League champions could have been an ideal fit.

Tottenham Eyeing Hijack of Man Utd Move for 'Unplayable' Star in £70m Raid

Tottenham Set to Hijack Man Utd Move for 'Unplayable' Star in £70m Raid - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen to kickstart Thomas Frank's potential appointment as manager by swooping for Bryan Mbeumo.

Mbeumo is heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and has already agreed on personal terms over a five-year deal with the Red Devils. Brentford are holding out for £60m and have rejected an initial offer of £55m for the Cameroonian, who has a year left on his contract.

Spurs could hijack United's deal for the 25-year-old should they replace Ange Postecoglou with Frank. The Danish coach is the frontrunner to take over the Lilywhites and bring an end to a seven-year stay with the Bees.

Tottenham Want Mbeumo And Frank

The Dane's appointment could spell trouble for Man Utd

Alan Nixon of The Sun reports that Spurs want Mbeumo despite the player closing in on a move to United. He snubbed interest from Newcastle United and Arsenal, both competing in the Champions League, in favour of joining Ruben Amorim's side.

Daniel Levy could make a late play for the versatile forward once Frank's appointment is sealed. It's said that he is "open" to replacing Postecoglou, and the Lilywhites will have no issue paying a £10m compensation package and extras for his backroom team.

Mbeumo would be on the agenda if his proposed move to Old Trafford isn't completed and Spurs have the cash to match the £60m price tag. They can also offer the Bees attacker Champions League football next season after beating the Red Devils in the Europa League final.

Frank's arrival would likely be the most significant part of a proposal, though, given his importance in Mbeumo's development. He dubbed the right-winger "unplayable" after shining in a 4-2 win over Newcastle in December.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Bryan Mbeumo is Thomas Frank's second-most-used player of his managerial career (242 appearances, 70 goals, 51 assists)

Mbeumo joined Brentford around ten months after Frank became first-team manager and his acquisition proved to be one of the club's best decisions. He finished last season joint-fourth in the Premier League's Golden Boot race with 20 goals.

Tottenham 'Show Door' to Senior Official as Big Shake-Up Continues

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly also parted ways with chief football officer Scott Munn following their decision to sack Ange Postecoglou.

The club announced on Friday (June 6) that Postecoglou was "relieved of his duties" as manager despite guiding Spurs to the Europa League last month. He became only their third coach in history to win a European trophy, alongside the legendary pair of Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw.

There are expected to be numerous changes made by Daniel Levy following Postecoglou's sacking, including those to the backroom staff. This is the same at board level, following a season in which the Lilywhites finished 17th in the Premier League table despite their European triumph.

Munn Joins Postecoglou In Leaving Spurs

The club had long courted the Australian

Munn arrived at Tottenham in April 2023, having previously worked as the chief executive of City Football Group (CFG) China. The 51-year-old worked closely with Levy and oversaw the club's footballing departments, including the academy and women's team.

The Australian explained just last year that his job was to "look after everything that’s to do with football operations". That's no longer the case, according to The Sun's Tom Barclay, who wrote on his X account:

"Understand Chief Football Officer Scott Munn has been shown the door as well at Spurs."

Munn's departure is another significant development in the fallout of Postecoglou's dismissal. It suggests Levy wants a complete reset of the club from top to bottom, including those working in the hierarchy who were behind his appointment.

The Australian spoke in early 2024 about wanting to repay Levy's faith in him (via football.london):

"I feel absolutely privileged to work with him and the support he gives to me and the entire football team is unconditional. I just hope we're able to repay the faith he's put in us."

There has been a particular focus on youth in recent transfer windows, and an injury crisis saw Postecoglou turn to several academy graduates. Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, both 18, arrived last summer, while Mikey Moore, 16, and Dane Scarlett, 21, made the step-up to the senior team.

This youth-driven recruitment policy could now change with Levy undoubtedly keen to have a squad that boasts both experience and potential. His search for a new manager has seen Brentford's Thomas Frank, Newcastle United's Eddie Howe and Fulham's Marco Silva linked.

A new chief football officer may also be on the agenda unless the club moves in a different direction. Levy seemingly has an unhappy camp of players over sacking Postecoglou, so he may need to get them back on board.

Forget Frank: Tottenham Must Hire ‘One of Europe’s Most Wanted Managers’ Instead

Tottenham Must Hire 'One of Europe's Most Wanted Managers' Instead of Frank - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur chiefs have a huge decision on who to bring in to their dugout ahead of next season - and one manager should be in their sights instead of Thomas Frank after sacking Ange Postecoglou earlier in the week.

The Greek-Australian boss was given the boot after a treacherous Premier League campaign saw Tottenham lose 22 of their 38 games in the top-flight - producing a club-record worst-ever 17th-placed finish since the competition began in 1992, and 38 points, marking their worst points tally in the top-flight since 1977.

Tottenham Should Opt for Iraola Over Frank

The Bournemouth boss would be more suited to the vacant role

Despite Postecoglou ending the club's 17-year wait for a trophy by winning the Europa League final over Manchester United last month, the Australian gaffer's poor domestic form means that Tottenham are now looking for a new gaffer - with Brentford boss Frank being linked.

But reports claim that the Dane is keen to make the switch across the capital, Spurs should look elsewhere to fill their void in the hot seat - with Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola undoubtedly being a strong addition should they make a move for the Spaniard.

Iraola surprisingly came into the Cherries' dugout at the start of the 2023-24 season, with the south coast club having sacked Gary O'Neil despite the Englishman leading them to safety the season before - and a slow start to life in Dorset looked as though they'd be in for more struggles in the top-flight, only winning one of their opening 11 games in the Premier League to sit 18th in the table.

But a superb run of form there saw the Cherries record 12 wins from their final 26 games to comfortably finish in mid-table, one point from the top-half - and that was replicated this time around with a ninth-placed finish.

Incidentally, that was one place ahead of Frank's Brentford - and with a more attacking style of football that resembles what Postecoglou set out to achieve, fast-flowing with attacking wing-backs such as Milos Kerkez, who has been linked with Liverpool.

Iraola is One of the Most Wanted Bosses in Europe

The Cherries boss will be snapped up at some point if their form continues

GMS sources confirmed in March that Iraola was 'one of the most appreciated candidates' in north London, having been highly-rated by Spurs for some time, with the football on offer, an attacking mentality and his trust in young players being highly applicable to Tottenham's squad.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Andoni Iraola has won 28 of his 76 games in the Premier League for Bournemouth.

Iraola, who sources revealed is 'one of the most wanted managers in Europe', also had a superb spell at La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano by winning promotion from the second division before recording two mid-table finishes - and that adaptability from lower-half to comfortable mid-table has shown he's a top coach who can work in all scenarios.

Frank, in his own right, has been mesmerising at Brentford and his hard work cannot be understated, having taken the Bees from a mid-table Championship team to a top-half Premier League side in two of his four full campaigns in the top-flight - but a huge release clause and an uncertainty over his playing style being suited to Tottenham should see the Lilywhites head for Iraola, especially with Bournemouth's mass exodus which could force his exit from the club.

Tottenham Must Pay Record-Breaking Compensation to Appoint Levy’s First Choice

Tottenham Must Pay Record-Breaking Compensation to Appoint Levy’s First Choice - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur would have to pay a compensation fee, “one of the biggest in football history,” to acquire Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, according to BBC Sport.

Despite leading Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years by winning the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou was sacked by Tottenham just weeks after his accomplishment. While the Lilywhites were a strong team in Europe, they struggled massively in the Premier League, losing an eye-watering 22 games out of 38.

For all of their fortunes on the continent, Spurs’ league form was almost impossible to ignore and the club are now on the hunt for another manager. Brentford manager Thomas Frank appears to be the favourite, but there are plenty of other candidates on the shortlist, including Fulham manager Marco Silva.

It appears unlikely that one such shortlisted name, however, will be making the move to North London.

Pochettino Return Looks Unlikely

Argentine is in charge of the US men’s team

As per BBC Sport, Mauricio Pochettino is a name that Spurs have considered to replace Postecoglou. The Argentine has been in charge of the United States men’s team since 2024 and is expected to remain in charge of the country for 2026 World Cup, but is well known to Spurs fans, having managed the club from 2014 to 2019.

Though Pochettino, who is reported chairman Daniel Levy's first choice, failed to win any silverware with Spurs, his tenure as a whole was a major success. The Argentinian guided Spurs to more than one second-placed finish in the Premier League whilst in 2019, he guided the Lilywhites to their first and so far, only, Champions League final.

A Pochettino return would be well-received by the fans, however it appears unlikely at this stage. The BBC have reported that the move would come “with a number of obstacles” including the compensation package that Spurs would have to pay for him, which would reportedly be “one of the biggest in football history.” For all the positivity it would bring, it appears that a return for Pochettino is not set to happen.
