Description

Djed Spence is having another positive month in his footballing career, despite struggling for results on the pitch with Tottenham of late.

Both Dominic Solanke and James Maddison remain out injured, with the former not expected to be back for the majority of the season.

However, Solanke is hopeful that he will be back out on the pitch very soon, and the Tottenham striker will believe that he can impress for the Lilywhites and make the England squad for next summer’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, Djed Spence’s chances of being on the plane to the United States have been significantly boosted after a second call-up.

Djed Spence gets his second England call-up in two months

The Tottenham Hotspur full-back made his England debut in the win over Serbia last month, with Spence describing it as the proudest day of his life.

The 25-year-old has now been recalled to the Three Lions setup for their upcoming friendly against Wales and their World Cup qualifier against Latvia.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He is once again the only Spurs representative in the England squad, and having made a substitute appearance for the country last month, Spence will be hoping to get a start this time out.

Thomas Tucehl rates Spence highly

Tuchel admitted last month that he has been impressed by Spence’s performances for Tottenham, pointing out that the full-back’s ability to play on either side is a huge plus.

The fact that the Spurs man has been recalled suggests that Tuchel and his coaching staff were impressed by him in last month’s camp.

The former Middlesbrough man’s versatility offers him a great chance of making the World Cup squad, but he may have work to do to make himself a regular starter for the country.

Tottenham Hotspur confirm new long-term contract for Rodrigo Bentancur - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham have finally agreed fresh terms with Rodrigo Bentancur, putting an end to speculation over his future and ensuring that one of their most important midfielders remains at the club.

Tottenham Hotspur spent the summer transfer window strengthening their squad with several key additions across defence, midfield and attack, as Thomas Frank looked to shape a side capable of competing on multiple fronts this season.

The new arrivals have settled quickly, and Spurs, blending established names with their new signings, have managed to begin the campaign with solid performances across all competitions.

However, despite the investment made in new faces, Tottenham have now gone on to secure the long-term future of one of their current stars.

Tottenham confirm Rodrigo Bentancur contract extension

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Rodrigo Bentancur has signed a new contract, which will keep him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on what the club have described as a long-term contract.

A club statement read: “We are delighted to announce that Rodrigo Bentancur has signed a new, long-term contract with the Club.

“Since joining us from Juventus in January, 2022, the 28-year-old has made 122 appearances in our colours to date, scoring on nine occasions.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 28-year-old was among a handful of Spurs players whose contracts are due to expire next year, leaving the risk of him departing on a free transfer, but the club have now acted to remove any uncertainty.

Bentancur’s extension follows that of Djed Spence, who was handed fresh terms earlier this season after his strong run of form, as the club continues to tie down players who can make an impact in the coming years.

Bentancur’s importance to Tottenham under Frank

Rodrigo Bentancur has been a key part of Tottenham since his move from Juventus, playing a crucial role under Antonio Conte, Ange Postecoglou, and now Thomas Frank, adapting to different systems and showing his quality in possession and out of it.

Although his time in north London has not been without setbacks, particularly injuries that forced him to spend extended periods on the sidelines, he has shown resilience in working his way back to full fitness and re-establishing himself as a central figure in midfield.

Alan Smith offers his score prediction for Leeds vs Tottenham in the Premier League

Alan Smith offers his score prediction for Leeds vs Tottenham in the Premier League - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have not won a Premier League game since their victory over West Ham and Alan Smith has revealed whether he thinks this will continue.

Tottenham Hotspur are not an easy team to beat, but they are not all that good at winning either. Spurs have drawn three of their past four matches and have required a late goal in each one in order to secure a point.

Their most recent Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers was particularly disappointing. Tottenham had the home advantage and were up against a team who had lost every single league match. Despite this, the only goal Spurs scored was the stoppage time equaliser from Joao Palhinha.

Leeds United will host Tottenham on Saturday and will be eager to keep putting points on the board. Daniel Farke’s team defeated Wolves away from home two weekends ago and drew with Bournemouth last time out.

Alan Smith believes Tottenham will draw another match

Tottenham’s winless run in the Premier League is set to continue according to Alan Smith. The former Arsenal striker has been impressed by Leeds’ attack in recent games and cannot see Guglielmo Vicario keeping a clean sheet.

This match would have surely been an easy Spurs win on August 23, the day when Thomas Frank’s team fought hard to secure a 2-0 win over Manchester City. Leeds were thrashed 5-0 by Arsenal on the same day, but the fortunes of both sides have changed since then.

Smith told Best Betting Websites: “Spurs are trying to find their way after a couple of lacklustre performances and Leeds have found their shooting boots, scoring a few goals. But I’m going to go 1-1.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Leeds United will want to get revenge on Spurs

Tottenham have a decent record when it comes to relegating teams from the Premier League. It was their 4-1 victory at Elland Road in May 2023 which saw Leeds drop down to the Championship in Ryan Mason’s final match as interim manager.

Leeds would not have avoided the drop anyway due to Everton’s victory over Bournemouth, but there may still be some resentment within their camp due to the way Spurs destroyed them.

The Yorkshire outfit will certainly fancy their chances based on the current form of both teams, so Tottenham will need to improve on Tuesday’s Champions League fixture against Bodo/Glimt.

Description

Tottenham return to Premier League action this weekend as Thomas Frank looks to find the right balance in his starting XI after back-to-back draws in the league. Let’s take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to face Leeds United.

Tottenham Hotspur are back in Premier League action following yet another draw, this time in Europe against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League.

Spurs were forced to claw their way back from 2-0 down against the Norwegian outfit, after a poor first-half display left them chasing the game.

Last weekend in the league, it was a similar story, as a lacklustre second-half showing meant Tottenham had to settle for a draw against bottom-placed Wolves.

Thomas Frank will now be demanding a response from his side at Elland Road, where newly promoted Leeds United, who currently sit 12th in the table, await.

Let us now look at how Thomas Frank could line his side up against Leeds United in the Premier League.

Predicted Tottenham XI vs Leeds United

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: The Italian should keep his place in goal once more, despite a couple of costly mistakes in recent weeks.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Right-back – Pedro Porro: The Spanish international struggled defensively against Glimt, yet he showed glimpses of quality going forward with his crossing from deep and deliveries from set-pieces. He should start from the right, with Frank demanding a more complete display.

Centre-back – Cristian Romero: The Spurs captain did not travel to Norway for precautionary reasons, but if he is declared fit, then he should return to the heart of defence.

Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: The Dutchman has continued to grow in stature this season, playing consistently while still looking sharp. He was one of the better performers against Glimt, wearing the captain’s armband, and he should keep his place.

Left-back – Destiny Udogie: Frank is not shy to rotate his full-backs and, having handed Djed Spence some minutes in Europe, Udogie is expected to return to the Premier League XI.

Pivot midfielder – Joao Palhinha: Rodrigo Bentancur endured a poor outing against Bodo, conceding a penalty, and Palhinha, who did not start in midweek, could come back into the side.

Centre midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: Many Tottenham fans continue to call for Xavi Simons to be used centrally, but Frank has not leaned in that direction, so Bergvall looks set to continue.

Centre midfielder – Pape Matar Sarr: It was far from his best performance in Norway, but with an away fixture that will require plenty of running, Sarr is likely to be Frank’s choice in midfield.

Left midfielder – Xavi Simons: The Dutchman should return to the starting line-up after being benched against Glimt, and he is expected to feature on the left.

Striker – Mathys Tel: Frank’s options in attack remain limited, with Richarlison and Tel his only genuine centre-forward choices at present. We expect Richarlison to drop to the bench, meaning Tel should lead the line.

Tottenham send scouts to watch Argentine striker who scored 15 times last season - Spurs Web
Description

The January transfer window is only three months away, and Tottenham Hotspur have their eye on a striker who only recently made the move to Europe.

Tottenham Hotspur were expected to sign a new striker in the summer, but this looked less likely as the transfer window progressed. However, Dominic Solanke picked up an injury, and Spurs signed Randal Kolo Muani on a season-long loan move from PSG.

Both players have already missed matches this season due to their fitness struggles, and Tottenham are now looking at another centre-forward.

The January transfer window does not open for another three months, but Spurs will want to be prepared after missing out on some top transfer targets last summer.

Tottenham are scouting Mateo Pellegrino

TuttoSport (as relayed by ParmaLive) report that Tottenham have sent scouts to watch Mateo Pellegrino. The striker, who turns 24 this month, joined Parma from Velez Sarsfield in January this year.

Parma only paid £1.7m to sign Pellegrino, but his former team have a 50 per cent sell-on clause, meaning the Italian club are demanding a large offer to let him go. They already rejected a £13m bid from a foreign team in July.

West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal have also shown an interest in Pellegrino. However, local reports suggest they will have to pay double the fee, which Parma rejected in the summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Pellegrino is still untested in Europe

Pellegrino was actually born in Spain and played for the Valencia and Inter Milan academies. However, most of his senior football has been played in Argentina.

The 23-year-old scored 15 goals for Platense in the 2024 season and found the back of the net three times in 13 matches for Parma in Serie A during the previous campaign. He has scored twice in five league matches this season and three times in two Coppa Italia matches.

It will be interesting to see how Pellegrino continues to develop in a European league. He has not yet played many matches for Parma, but if he can keep up his goalscoring form, Tottenham may consider making an offer.

The 16-year-old centre-back was one of the star performers for the U18s last season, and he has not looked out of place since being promoted to the U21s this term.

Another man who has made the same jump this season is attacking midfielder Luca Williams-Barnett, who was handed his senior Tottenham debut against Doncaster last week.

Jun’ai Byfield reveals what his Tottenham dream is

The pair have progressed through the youth ranks together, and the centre-back has now shared what his dream is after seeing his best friend make his first-team debut for Spurs.

Mikey Moore and Williams-Barnett will inspire many Spurs youngsters

Williams-Barnett became the youngest ever player to play for Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, being 16 years, 11 months, 24 days old when he came on against Doncaster.

Last year, Moore became the youngest ever player to play for Spurs in the Premier League, and he has since gone from strength to strength.

Many of the teenagers in the Spurs academy will look to the pair as their inspirations and believe that they can follow in their footsteps.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have now decided what their top priority is during the January transfer window.

According to various reports, Spurs wanted to add another centre-back to their squad in the summer, but they were unable to do so before the window slammed shut.

There have already been suggestions that Tottenham have started ground work on signing a top-class defender in January.

A new report has now claimed that signing a centre-back is the top priority of Thomas Frank’s men during the mid-season window, and the club have narrowed down their search to two names.

Tottenham eyeing two Premier League centre-backs

This report comes from TBR Football, who say that the Lilywhites are extremely keen on adding a left-footed centre-back to their squad in the winter.

While Kevin Danso is seen as a suitable cover for Cristian Romero, Frank is thought to want to add another left-sided option to his squad as Micky van de Ven’s backup.

The outlet backs up what we have heard from other sources over recent weeks by revealing that Brentford’s Nathan Collins is high on Tottenham’s wishlist.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report adds that Spurs are also big fans of Leeds United’s Pascal Struijk, but they are expected to face major competition for the Dutchman.

Who are the other centre-backs on Spurs’ radar?

Some sources have suggested that Tottenham could go back in for Nathan Ake after exploring a move for the Man City star in the summer.

Additionally, Spurs are also thought to hold a serious interest in Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke, who has emerged as one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League.

Bad news for Tottenham and Man United as centre-back is not for sale under any circumstance - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are rumoured to be eyeing a sensational move for a Premier League centre-back, but it may be near impossible for now.

It has been widely reported that signing a top-class defender is a priority for Spurs in January, and that is understandable, given the fitness record of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

At the start of the summer window, it was revealed that Tottenham were preparing an approach for Jarrad Branthwaite, but the 23-year-old ended up staying put at Everton and even penned a five-year deal at the club.

This has reportedly not deterred Thomas Frank’s men, with some sources claiming that Spurs and Man United are both eyeing a move for Branthwaite in January, and we have now found out what Everton are thinking about the centre-back’s future.

Everton will take a hardline stance on Tottenham target Jarrad Branthwaite

Football Insider have now alleged that the Toffees will not entertain any offers for the England international during the upcoming transfer window.

Curiously, the report does not mention Tottenham Hotspur as one of the contenders for the defender’s signature, instead naming Liverpool and Man United as the two clubs that are keen on signing the youngster.

However, the possibility of David Moyes’ side selling Branthwaite mid-season has been completely ruled out.

MORE SPURS STORIES

With the centre-back’s current deal running until 2030, Everton are planning to reject all offers that come their way for the centre-back, no matter how big.

Will Branthwaite be on the market next summer?

Tottenham and the defender’s other suitors will also find it difficult to do a deal next summer, as Football Insider say that Everton plan to continue on their firm stance on Branthwaite at the end of the season.

The Toffees want to keep the former Carlisle United man for as long as possible as they are at the start of a new era at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Description

Tottenham youngster Luca Williams-Barnett has spoken out after putting pen to paper on his first professional contract with the club, only days after creating history with his debut.

The last few weeks must have felt surreal for Tottenham Hotspur academy prospect Luca Williams-Barnett, who made his senior debut for Spurs in their Carabao Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers.

The midfielder, who only turned 17 yesterday, added his name to a long list of young talents who have represented Tottenham at such an early age.

In doing so, Williams-Barnett also set a record of his own, becoming the youngest player in the club’s history to pull on the famous Lilywhite shirt in the Carabao Cup.

Luca Williams-Barnett reflects on Tottenham debut and first-team welcome

Luca Williams-Barnett has now taken another big stride in his Tottenham career, signing his first professional contract with the club.

The teenager has been part of the Tottenham setup for the last six years, having joined at under-10 level, and speaking with the club’s media team, he reflected on how it feels to come through the academy.

Williams-Barnett said: “I have been here for six years. I signed at under-10s. And that just dreaming about playing for this club.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about growing up a Spurs supporter, he admitted his fandom came from watching iconic figures of the past, particularly Paul Gascoigne and David Ginola.

“Yeah,” he replied when asked if Spurs were his boyhood club, before continuing: “Paul Gascoigne. He just does what he wants, really. That is what I like about him. You cannot tackle him. I like Ginola. They are probably the two.”

He also spoke about how the coaching staff pushed him to express himself on the pitch and how that advice shaped his style. “From when I had my first Ryan Hall, he just told me to express myself. Then from that day on, I just loved it. He is very funny, I will give him that, but he is honest. He wanted the best out of all of us.”.

Williams Barnett admitted that when he ran out to make his debut, he was encouraged by his teammates to go out and play without fear. “When he told me to express myself, that is when it kicked in. When I ran on the pitch, I had Brennan, like, ‘let’s go’, all of this, and when I got the ball, I just wanted to drive at them. When he gave me that hug, he was just telling me that saying just: ‘get at them, you will win it every time’. I was like: ‘ok’ and when they all came over they were like: ‘get on the ball, keep going’.”

The youngster also opened up on how it felt to settle into the senior squad environment, especially with senior players making the effort to guide him. “You go over there and you are like who do I, who do I really speak to? Me and Jun’ai and Tynan; but the first team came over and you are like: ‘ah, yeah, okay’.”

Pedro Porro, in particular, seems to have played a big role in helping him feel at ease. “Pedro Porro is always like he is always coming over to give me a hug, he is always laughing.”

Family support and Williams Barnett’s next steps

As the teenager explained, his family have been central to his journey, supporting him through every step of his development. “Mum, Dad, sister… Dad would be telling me: ‘just be yourself’ every day. Just that. What can you do to improve?

“He wanted to make sure that I was the best player. They just ask of them bring the best out of me. They have all got that different way that they contribute to my life. They all bring the best out of me.”

He was also asked what the professional deal means to him at this stage of his career, and he made it clear he knows the hard work has only just begun. “A step closer. I am not there yet. I have got a long way to go. It is a step closer to where I want to be.”

Tottenham Hotspur owners send biggest hint yet that the club is not for sale - Spurs Web
Description

The Lewis Family have just made a big decision which comes as a massive hint on whether they are looking to sell Tottenham Hotspur.

Over the last month, Tottenham have confirmed that they rejected two approaches to buy a stake in the club, including one from PCP International Finance Limited, headed by former Newcastle United chief Amanda Staveley.

Last week, it emerged that Spurs had unequivocally rejected an expression of takeover interest from American tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick.

The consortium headed by Earick is now required to either announce a firm intention to make an offer or that they do not intend to bid before 5 pm on October 24, as per the UK Takeover Code.

ENIC’s latest move suggests Tottenham takeover is unlikely

The Athletic have now revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have officially ended their relationship with Rothschild & Co, which suggests that a takeover might not be on the cards soon.

Rothschild were appointed by former Spurs chairman Daniel Levy in April 2024 to help find potential external investment into the North London club.

However, Spurs have now cut ties with the multinational merchant bank, making it clear that they do not need their financial advice as the club is not for sale.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about cutting ties with Rothschild, a Tottenham spokesperson told the outlet: “We’re grateful for the support of Rothschild in recent years. However, given the club is not for sale, we mutually agreed there is no longer a role for them and have mutually ended the mandate.”

Will the Lewis family have a change of heart about selling Spurs?

The Athletic say that British law firm Dickson Minto will continue to provide independent advice to Tottenham amidst the increased takeover interest in the club.

The publication concludes that it is hard to dispute the Lewis family’s assertion that the club is currently not for sale, but reveals that industry insiders remain convinced that they will eventually explore the options.
