Description

Tottenham youngster Luca Williams-Barnett has spoken out after putting pen to paper on his first professional contract with the club, only days after creating history with his debut.

The last few weeks must have felt surreal for Tottenham Hotspur academy prospect Luca Williams-Barnett, who made his senior debut for Spurs in their Carabao Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers.

The midfielder, who only turned 17 yesterday, added his name to a long list of young talents who have represented Tottenham at such an early age.

In doing so, Williams-Barnett also set a record of his own, becoming the youngest player in the club’s history to pull on the famous Lilywhite shirt in the Carabao Cup.

Luca Williams-Barnett reflects on Tottenham debut and first-team welcome

Luca Williams-Barnett has now taken another big stride in his Tottenham career, signing his first professional contract with the club.

The teenager has been part of the Tottenham setup for the last six years, having joined at under-10 level, and speaking with the club’s media team, he reflected on how it feels to come through the academy.

Williams-Barnett said: “I have been here for six years. I signed at under-10s. And that just dreaming about playing for this club.”

When asked about growing up a Spurs supporter, he admitted his fandom came from watching iconic figures of the past, particularly Paul Gascoigne and David Ginola.

“Yeah,” he replied when asked if Spurs were his boyhood club, before continuing: “Paul Gascoigne. He just does what he wants, really. That is what I like about him. You cannot tackle him. I like Ginola. They are probably the two.”

He also spoke about how the coaching staff pushed him to express himself on the pitch and how that advice shaped his style. “From when I had my first Ryan Hall, he just told me to express myself. Then from that day on, I just loved it. He is very funny, I will give him that, but he is honest. He wanted the best out of all of us.”.

Williams Barnett admitted that when he ran out to make his debut, he was encouraged by his teammates to go out and play without fear. “When he told me to express myself, that is when it kicked in. When I ran on the pitch, I had Brennan, like, ‘let’s go’, all of this, and when I got the ball, I just wanted to drive at them. When he gave me that hug, he was just telling me that saying just: ‘get at them, you will win it every time’. I was like: ‘ok’ and when they all came over they were like: ‘get on the ball, keep going’.”

The youngster also opened up on how it felt to settle into the senior squad environment, especially with senior players making the effort to guide him. “You go over there and you are like who do I, who do I really speak to? Me and Jun’ai and Tynan; but the first team came over and you are like: ‘ah, yeah, okay’.”

Pedro Porro, in particular, seems to have played a big role in helping him feel at ease. “Pedro Porro is always like he is always coming over to give me a hug, he is always laughing.”

Family support and Williams Barnett’s next steps

As the teenager explained, his family have been central to his journey, supporting him through every step of his development. “Mum, Dad, sister… Dad would be telling me: ‘just be yourself’ every day. Just that. What can you do to improve?

“He wanted to make sure that I was the best player. They just ask of them bring the best out of me. They have all got that different way that they contribute to my life. They all bring the best out of me.”

He was also asked what the professional deal means to him at this stage of his career, and he made it clear he knows the hard work has only just begun. “A step closer. I am not there yet. I have got a long way to go. It is a step closer to where I want to be.”

Tottenham Hotspur owners send biggest hint yet that the club is not for sale - Spurs Web
Description

The Lewis Family have just made a big decision which comes as a massive hint on whether they are looking to sell Tottenham Hotspur.

Over the last month, Tottenham have confirmed that they rejected two approaches to buy a stake in the club, including one from PCP International Finance Limited, headed by former Newcastle United chief Amanda Staveley.

Last week, it emerged that Spurs had unequivocally rejected an expression of takeover interest from American tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick.

The consortium headed by Earick is now required to either announce a firm intention to make an offer or that they do not intend to bid before 5 pm on October 24, as per the UK Takeover Code.

ENIC’s latest move suggests Tottenham takeover is unlikely

The Athletic have now revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have officially ended their relationship with Rothschild & Co, which suggests that a takeover might not be on the cards soon.

Rothschild were appointed by former Spurs chairman Daniel Levy in April 2024 to help find potential external investment into the North London club.

However, Spurs have now cut ties with the multinational merchant bank, making it clear that they do not need their financial advice as the club is not for sale.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about cutting ties with Rothschild, a Tottenham spokesperson told the outlet: “We’re grateful for the support of Rothschild in recent years. However, given the club is not for sale, we mutually agreed there is no longer a role for them and have mutually ended the mandate.”

Will the Lewis family have a change of heart about selling Spurs?

The Athletic say that British law firm Dickson Minto will continue to provide independent advice to Tottenham amidst the increased takeover interest in the club.

The publication concludes that it is hard to dispute the Lewis family’s assertion that the club is currently not for sale, but reveals that industry insiders remain convinced that they will eventually explore the options.

Description

One Tottenham target is second only to Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal in the scoring charts, and the Lilywhites have now been told how much they will have to fork out to bring him through the door.

Brazilian football continues to produce teenage attacking gems with regularity, and a 19-year-old has now been tipped as the next potential superstar export to Europe.

The player in question is Vasco Da Gama winger Rayan, who Tottenham have reportedly scouted recently ahead of a potential January approach.

The Vasco starlet has 12 goals to his name in 2025, and among players who are 19 or younger, only Lamine Yamal has scored more goals across Europe.

Tottenham told how much they would have to pay for Rayan

Journalist Jorge Nicola has now confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are indeed one of the clubs exploring a move for Rayan, but he makes it clear that they are not alone.

He asserts that Porto and Zenit Saint Petersburg had already had bids worth €17m (£14.6m) rejected for the winger.

The Russian club continue to remain in the transfer race for the 19-year-old while Barcelona are also fans of the youngster.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Nicola asserts that it would take an offer of €30m (£25.7m) to price Rayan away from the Rio de Janeiro club.

Vasco’s plan for Spurs target Rayan revealed

The youngster’s current contract at Vasco runs out at the end of 2026, which means that Vasco have only two more opportunities to sell him to a European club.

However, interestingly, Nicola asserts that the Brazilian club intend to hold on to the teenager at least until the middle of next year.

Midfielder rules out move to Tottenham despite Thomas Frank dropping hints - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank dropped hints about a recent opponent in his post-match press conference, but the midfielder has shut down talk of joining Tottenham.

Tottenham’s performance at the Aspmyra Stadion on Tuesday was very different to the memorable outing they had at the venue in the Europa League towards the end of last season.

Spurs managed to win 2-0 in Norway, beating them 5-1 on aggregate to progress to the Europa League final, but on this occasion, they had to call on their powers of recovery just to salvage a point.

The game has been used as a marker by some Spurs fans on social media to suggest a lack of progress under Thomas Frank, and a Bodo/Glimt player has now weighed in on the differences between the two encounters.

Jens Petter Hauge rules out a move to Tottenham Hotspur

Hauge netted both of Bodo/Glimt’s goals in the 2-2 draw, and the Norwegian winger ran the London side ragged, especially in the first half.

He has now suggested that it is unfair to compare the Tottenham side Bodo/Glimt faced back in May to the one they played this week, since the context of the two matches was very different.

When asked if Thomas Frank’s Tottenham side was easier to play against than Ange Postecoglou’s, he told Nettavisen: “I wouldn’t say that, the setting is different. Last time there was a semi-final in Europe, where they really had to do everything to save themselves. They also came here with a result that made it a different game.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked if he would consider leaving Bodo/Glimt for Tottenham in the future, Hauge added: “I’m not going anywhere.”

Thomas Frank opens the door for Spurs to sign Hauge

After the game, the Tottenham head coach was all praise for the Norway international, revealing that he previously tried to take him to Brentford.

Curiously, Frank also refused to rule out taking Hauge to Tottenham when directly quizzed about the possibility.

The 24-year-old already has 16 goal contributions across all competitions for Bodo/Glimt this season, and based on Frank’s statement, it appears that the Lilywhites may keep a close eye on his progress.

Description

Tottenham supporters have been left divided after noticing a change in decorations at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur ended their 17-year wait for silverware last season, finally lifting a European trophy after defeating Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao.

It marked a defining moment for the club, a side with a strong European pedigree, having won four continental titles in its history, and now aims to build on that success with the new campaign underway.

The celebrations that followed were unforgettable, with Spurs parading the trophy on an open-top bus as thousands of fans filled the streets to savour a moment that they had longed for so much.

Tottenham fans react as Europa League banner is removed

The Europa League winners’ banner had been hanging prominently outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since May, but it is now being taken down ahead of upcoming events.

News of the removal quickly reached social media, with Tottenham supporters quick to share their reactions.

One Tottenham fan wrote: “Up for a few months then replaced with NFL advertising. Sounds about right.” Another commented: “Well, that f***king sucks.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Others tried to keep perspective, with one supporter suggesting: “I am fairly certain they are dressing the stadium for that event. I would like to think it will be back up once we return to action after the international break against Villa on the 19th October.”

Some felt it was time to move forward, with one fan posting: “Was good while it lasted, but time for new challenges. We cannot keep going back and especially singing ‘champions of Europe’, because we are not. We are Europa League champions, but time to stop that too. Teams who dwell on the past are generally losers. Have to win more.”

Another Tottenham supporter echoed that sentiment, writing: “Good, I am glad. This club has rested on its laurels far too long. We are in the Champions League now, that is where the concentration should be. Look up, not down or backwards.”

One fan struck a more nostalgic note, stating: “We have legacy and history. We will always have that night in Bilbao.”

Why the banner might return

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has become more than just the home of Spurs, as it also hosts several major events, including the NFL’s regular season fixtures.

It appears that the removal of the banner is linked to preparations for an NFL double-header, and once that event concludes, there is every chance that the Europa League tribute will be restored.

For now, Spurs have one more fixture before the international break, after which focus will shift back to their domestic and European campaigns that many fans are rightly eager to embrace.

Tottenham fans slam club’s medical team after latest news out of Hotspur Way

Tottenham fans slam club’s medical team after latest news out of Hotspur Way - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham fans have taken to social media to question the club’s medical department once again, following Dominic Solanke’s latest update on his injury situation.

Tottenham Hotspur have been without Dominic Solanke for several weeks now, with the forward sidelined due to an ankle problem that has disrupted his start to the season.

Yesterday, the striker took to social media to reveal that he had undergone minor surgery to resolve the issue and speed up his recovery process.

Solanke also gave supporters a timeline for his return, revealing that he would be back in the very near future, with the update coming just as Spurs head into an international break that could allow him some extra time to get closer to full fitness.

Tottenham supporters who came across Solanke’s post wasted little time in sharing their thoughts, with some sending messages of support and others using it as another chance to voice their frustrations with the medical team.

One fan commented: “Gotta suck to have those little injuries that you hope just heal with time but do not. Hope to see him soon. A healthy Dom will be great in this side I think.”

Another Tottenham supporter was less optimistic, writing: “Will be back for two games max then back in the medical room.” A third supporter added sarcastically: “Very near feature yeah mate, see you in March,” while one more said bluntly: “Desperately need him back.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Others were quick to question the timeline, with one response reading: “‘Very near future’ means next year?” Another fan summed up the wider mood by stating: “Unfortunately should have been surgery months ago! Probably will not see him on the field till December.”

Concerns over Spurs medical department

It is not a shock that supporters are sceptical about when Solanke will actually return, given the club’s track record when it comes to managing injuries in recent years.

Last season, it was suggested that Dejan Kulusevski would only be out for a few weeks, yet Ange Postecoglou’s comments proved far from accurate, with the Swede ending up sidelined for months.

Thomas Frank has already stressed that Tottenham are working hard to get a grip on the injury problems this season, but the evidence so far leaves plenty of room for doubt as to whether those efforts are genuinely paying off.

Thomas Frank denies repeat Tottenham issue despite poor Bodo/Glimt performance

Thomas Frank denies repeat Tottenham issue despite poor Bodo/Glimt performance - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has admitted that he was disappointed by a couple of aspects of Tottenham’s performance against Bodo/Glimt.

The home side had been on top and had deservedly gone 2-0 up, with the Lilywhites struggling to deal with the waves of pressure from the Norwegian outfit.

However, Tottenham Hotspur showed their character once again, battling back from two goals down to salvage a point for the second time this season.

Thomas Frank admits Tottenham should have been better in possession

The Tottenham head coach praised the character and fight his players showed in the final 25 minutes of the game, remarking that they kept fighting until the end.

However, he admitted that he expected his side to make better use of possession, particularly in the first period and be braver on the ball.

Frank said following Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Bodo/Glimt (via Football.London): “I think it’s definitely big character to fight back. I think that’s hugely important in any team that they have that and keep running, keep fighting, keep doing the right thing.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“And I also think we, even that I think after the 2-0 I think we were in a strange way better. Maybe because Bodo dropped back maybe we took more initiative, you know, sometimes that’s the momentum of the game. But I felt that we kept doing the right thing, we kept moving the ball, kept reducing the situation from the side.

“And showed great character to come back into the game, which I’m very, very pleased with. But big praise to Bodo. I think until the 2-0 they were the best team today. I think after that the game changed a bit and I think we got more on top. And of course scored the 2-1 and then scored the equaliser. So they just showed exactly what I expected from them today.

“Of course, I hope we could have done a little bit more first half. Got a little bit more into the high-pressure in situations. And I would say especially on the ball, I felt we could and should have kept the ball better in situations. Both a little bit of structure, a little bit brave. A little bit on the day where you just need better touches, better decisions, better passes.”

Frank denies Spurs have a first-half problem

Over the last few games, the Lilywhites have made it a bit of a habit to concede the first goal and fight back.

However, Thomas Frank denied that his side are having an issue in the way they start matches, insisting that some of their first-half performances of late have been good.

When asked why Tottenham are struggling to control games at the start, he responded: “That can be various reasons. I think against Wolves we had no problem controlling in the beginning. I think we were by far the best team against Wolves in the first half.

“I think Brighton was a different game. I think also we were by far the best team in the first half. Just conceded one fairly well played goal and as we talk about a game, a goal that should have been conceded. Today I felt we struggled in the first half.

“So I think that’s the only time we struggled in the three games against a very good Bodo team. Up here, a lot of teams will struggle when they play against them here. So it’s just fair play to Bodo.”

Tottenham star nominated for Premier League Goal of the Month after memorable moment - Spurs Web
Description

One Tottenham midfielder has been recognised for his stunning goal with a nomination for the Premier League September Goal of the Month.

Tottenham Hotspur had a mixed run of form in September, with the Lilywhites avoiding defeat across the month but struggling to convert performances into victories.

Their only win came in the London derby against West Ham United, where Thomas Frank’s men delivered a convincing display to secure a 3-0 triumph at the London Stadium.

It was a statement win for Spurs and one that saw three different players find the back of the net, with Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall and Micky van de Ven all getting on the scoresheet.

Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall nominated for Premier League goal of the month

The Premier League has now confirmed that Bergvall’s 57th-minute effort at the London Stadium has been shortlisted for the September goal of the month award, giving Tottenham supporters the chance to back their youngster in the fan vote.

Bergvall’s strike was a memorable one, and it carried extra significance as it marked his first-ever Premier League goal for Tottenham.

The move started from deep, with Cristian Romero picking out the Swede with a long ball forward, and the teenager showed brilliant composure and timing to meet it with a powerful header that left the goalkeeper rooted.

MORE SPURS STORIES

His goal is in competition with efforts from Martin Zubimendi (Arsenal 3-0 Nottingham Forest), Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool 2-1 Everton), Anton Stach (Wolves 1-3 Leeds), Tyrick Mitchell (West Ham 1-2 Crystal Palace), Harry Wilson (Fulham 3-1 Brentford), Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal 1-1 Manchester City) and Igor Thiago (Brentford 3-1 Manchester United).

Spurs must now build on September progress

While September brought moments of promise, there is still significant room for improvement, and Thomas Frank will undoubtedly be reminding his squad of the levels they need to maintain.

October offers a sterner test with league fixtures against Leeds United, Aston Villa and Everton, and Spurs will need to show greater consistency if they are to build momentum.

Tottenham sign forward to new contract after recent record-breaking appearance - Spurs Web
Description

Luca Williams-Barnett recently broke onto the scene at Tottenham Hotspur and the club have now revealed some exciting news about the teenage talent.

Everyone who follows Tottenham Hotspur will be aware of Luca Williams-Barnett by now. The midfielder, who celebrated his 17th birthday yesterday, has been impressing for the U21 team, and he recently made his Spurs debut.

In fact, Williams-Barnett broke a Tottenham record in the Carabao Cup. He came off the bench in the closing stages against Doncaster Rovers, becoming the youngest ever Spurs player to appear in the competition.

The youngster is yet to start a match for the senior team, but there is plenty of time for him to get his big moment, as confirmed by the club’s latest announcement.

Luca Williams-Barnett has signed a professional contract with Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Williams-Barnett has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The England youth international has been playing for Spurs since joining their under-10s team and it seems Tottenham fans will see plenty of him in the future.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The club statement read: “We are delighted to announce that Luca Williams-Barnett has signed his first professional contract with the club.

“The attacking midfielder, who turned 17 on Wednesday, has shone in our Academy set-up in recent years, having joined us in the Under-10s.

“He was a stand-out player for our Under-18 side last season while still a schoolboy, scoring long-range goals against West Ham, Leicester City and Aston Villa, with the Leicester strike named Under-18 Premier League Goal of the Season.

“He also netted a hat-trick in our 2024/25 Under-17 Premier League Cup final success against Charlton Athletic and recently registered his first treble at Under-21 level in a 6-3 win at Leicester.

“Having been named on the bench for the first team on four occasions last term, Luca made his senior debut as a second-half substitute in last month’s 3-0 home win over Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup.

“He has been capped by England at all levels between Under-15s and Under-18s to date.”

Williams-Barnett must succeed where other Spurs youngsters have failed

Williams-Barnett’s decision to put pen to paper and sign his first professional contract is excellent news, but success in the academy does not always mean a player will thrive in the Tottenham first-team squad.

Dane Scarlett is a player who was often praised for his prolific goalscoring for Tottenham’s under-21s team, but his future at the club looks uncertain.

Mikey Moore is another who looked like the next big thing, but he struggled for minutes in the senior team last season and has had a few dodgy displays since joining Rangers on loan. Although in fairness, the winger is still young and has time to find his feet.

The transition from junior to senior football can be tricky, but hopefully Williams-Barnett will be able to make the leap. If he can do for the Tottenham first-team what he has in Premier League 2, expect goals, creativity and excitement.

Supercomputer reveals Tottenham's chances of qualifying for Champions League knockouts after Bodo/Glimt draw - Spurs Web
Description

Opta’s Supercomputer has revealed whether Tottenham are favourites to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League and where they are likely to finish in the league phase.

Opta predicted that Spurs were favourites to win at Bodo/Glimt, but the Lilywhites had to settle for a point.

In fact, many would feel that they were even lucky to come away with a point as they were second best for large parts of the encounter in Norway.

However, several Tottenham players have said that they are proud of the way they fought back from two goals down against Bodo/Glimt to salvage a point, given that they were staring at the possibility of a defeat with less than 25 minutes left on the clock.

Are Tottenham favourites to make it to the next round of the Champions League?

Ahead of the clash on Tuesday, Opta predicted that Tottenham would finish ninth in the league phase, which means that they would have just missed out on direct passage to the round of 16 and would have made it to the play-off round.

Opta have now revised their predictions after Spurs’ draw at Bodo/Glimt, and their algorithm now predicts that the Lilywhites will finish in 11th place.

Their supercomputer gives Thomas Frank’s men a 63.96 per cent chance of making it to the playoff round and a 28.52 per cent chance of finishing in the top eight and making it directly into the round of 16.

Why Tottenham have to win their next two Champions League games

Tottenham’s last four Champions League fixtures are arguably their hardest, which means that it will be tough for them to make up a deficit in the latter part of the league phase.

The Lilywhites play Monaco away and Copenhagen at home in their next two games, and they would ideally want to win both to give themselves some breathing room.

Thomas Frank’s men will feel that finishing in the top eight is still very much within their grasp, but there are no easy games in this competition as the clash against Bodo/Glimt showed.
