Description

Micky van de Ven is looking to put his confrontation with Mohammed Kudus behind him, but his Tottenham teammates are not letting him forget what happened between the pair last season.

As Spurs Web previously pointed out, Mohammed Kudus was set for an awkward first meeting with Van de Ven and Pape Sarr after the former West Ham got sent off in last season’s London derby for shoving the Tottenham Hotspur duo in the face.

While the Spurs players have welcomed the Ghanaian to the club, it seems like they have certainly not forgotten what happened last October.

We covered earlier today that while welcoming the winger to Tottenham, Richarlison posted a picture of Van de Ven’s confrontation with Kudus.

James Maddison pokes fun at Micky van de Ven and Mohammed Kudus

It is now the turn of Maddison to poke fun at the Dutch centre-back as Kudus joined the Spurs squad in the canteen ahead of training.

The squad were having lunch at Hotspur Way, and the attacking midfielder decided to record a video where he repeatedly panned his camera between Van de Ven and the former West Ham man, who was seated at the next table.

James Maddison decided to edit that along with a clip of the pair’s altercation before posting it on TikTok. Watch the video below:

Van de Ven and Kudus shake hands in a funny Tottenham video

It is not just Van de Ven’s Spurs teammates who are poking fun at the incident, with the club’s social media team being in on the joke as well.

After Mohammed Kudus signed for the club on Thursday, Tottenham decided to edit a funny video of the Ghanaian shaking hands with the Netherlands international.

While the Spurs centre-back might not appreciate the collective effort to get a laugh at his expense, at least everyone is seeing the funny side of it rather than brushing his bad blood with Kudus under the carpet.

After two difficult seasons in Europe, Alejo Veliz is delighted to be able to return to Rosaria Central on loan from Tottenham, for both personal and professional reasons.

Tottenham confirmed on Tuesday that Alejo Veliz had joined Rosaria Central on a loan deal with no permanent option.

We may not have seen the last of the Argentine striker in a Spurs shirt, particularly given that Tottenham have inserted a right to recall Veliz at the end of 2025.

The centre-forward will now look to get his career back on track at a club he knows well, following two chastening loan spells away at Sevilla and Espanyol.

Alejo Veliz is over the moon to return to Rosaria Central

Many Spurs fans were bewildered by Tottenham’s decision to loan Veliz back to Argentina, with some feeling that the signing now looks pointless.

However, the 21-year-old is over the moon to get a move back to his boyhood club, revealing that he got exactly what he wanted.

Veliz particularly stressed how happy he is to be back with his family, admitting that he found it hard being away from his loved ones.

The striker told Doble Amarilla about his return to Rosario: “I’m very happy; I got what I wanted, and I thank the club for what it did. I’m eager to arrive and be with the guys.

“(It) is also very special for my family because it’s very difficult to be away from your people. I have a one-year loan contract, and they’re going to take advantage of it to come to the pitch every time.”

Tottenham appear to have made a sympathetic decision

One suspects that Johan Lange and the Tottenham Hotspur decision-makers would have preferred to send Veliz on loan to a European club, as that would have been better for his development.

We already know that he can score goals in the Primera Division, and we may thus not learn much from how the striker does back at Rosario.

Jose Mourinho is extremely keen on taking an experienced Tottenham Hotspur man to Fenerbahce, but there is one stumbling block which could prevent him from doing so.

While Tottenham have managed to strengthen their squad this summer, we have yet to see any big-name departures from Hotspur Way so far.

However, that might soon change as reports indicate that Spurs are now trying to find a buyer for Yves Bissouma, who is not in Thomas Frank’s plans.

Earlier this week, it emerged that Juventus are keen on Bissouma, but the Bianconeri have a challenger in the race for the Tottenham man’s signature.

Just a couple of days ago, one source claimed that Fenerbahce are ready to launch an offer for Bissouma at the insistence of Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho is extremely keen to raid Tottenham for Bissouma

According to journalist Yagız Sabuncuoglu, (via Fener Ajans), it is Mourinho who is driving the Turkish club’s interest in the former Brighton man.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In fact, it is alleged that the former Spurs head coach has made the 28-year-old his number-one transfer target for the summer.

The special one is said to be keen on bolstering his midfield with the addition of the Mali international, who is thought to be in favour of a move to the Istanbul club.

However, Tottenham want €20m (£17.2m) for Bissouma even though he has just a year left in his contract, and the Lilywhites’ asking price is proving to be a stumbling block for Mourinho’s men.

Fenerbahce are hoping Spurs soften their stance on Bissouma

Sabuncuoglu claims that while Fenerbahce are considering making an offer for the midfielder, they are first hoping to get Spurs to lower their demands.

The Super Lig club are not in a position to meet Tottenham Hotspur’s asking price and are waiting for a signal from the Premier League side that they would be open to negotiating a lower fee.

Tottenham hit 'stumbling block' over big-money transfer deal, but there is reason to be hopeful - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham remain hopeful of completing a transfer deal for Morgan Gibbs-White despite a legal threat from Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham Hotspur were hit with an unexpected twist earlier today after it emerged that Nottingham Forest are considering legal action against Spurs, following their move to sign the club’s talisman, Morgan Gibbs-White.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder, who was instrumental for Forest last season, has unsurprisingly attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester City.

But Tottenham acted swiftly, triggering Gibbs-White’s release clause as they looked to beat the competition for his signature.

In fact, following the activation of Gibbs-White’s £60million release clause, it was revealed that Spurs had a medical pencilled in for Friday, 11 July.

Tottenham push ahead with Morgan Gibbs-White move despite legal action

The Athletic now report that, despite Nottingham Forest’s legal manoeuvre, the Morgan Gibbs-White to Spurs transfer is still on course to be completed.

The issue, however, is seen as a temporary disruption rather than a deal-breaker, with the £60million clause in Gibbs-White’s current deal, which runs until 2027, firmly in Tottenham’s favour.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Forest, of course, remains unhappy with how the approach was made. They believe that Spurs did not follow proper channels and failed to seek permission before opening talks with the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man.

It is understood that the move had been advancing at pace before Forest lodged their complaint, as Gibbs-White was expected to undergo a medical this Friday, but that timeline may now be pushed back depending on how quickly the matter is resolved.

Gibbs-White wants Tottenham move as Spurs eye further reinforcements

Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on 10 July that Morgan Gibbs-White is keen on the switch to Tottenham, which should smooth the process if legal tensions ease.

Should Spurs manage to work their way around Forest’s challenge, then the expectation is that an official announcement will follow, barring any fresh complication.

Description

Mohammed Kudus and Micky van de Ven have put their differences behind them in a funny video shared by Tottenham following the Ghana international’s switch to Spurs.

Mohammed Kudus has become Tottenham’s third signing of the summer, joining from West Ham in a £55m deal, and becoming the first player to make the move from the Hammers to Spurs in 14 years.

It has since been revealed that despite interest from a host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, Kudus only ever had eyes for Tottenham.

The winger’s arrival now means that Thomas Frank has almost an embarrassment of riches out wide, with competition for places in Tottenham’s front three set to heat up.

Tottenham teammates Mohammed Kudus and Micky van de Ven put aside their differences

Kudus may have anticipated an awkward first meeting with Van de Ven and Pape Sarr after the former West Ham man shoved both Spurs players in the face in last year’s London derby.

That was after the winger had left a foot on the Dutch defender while going in for a challenge, which led to a confrontation between the two sets of players.

The Ghana international was shown a red card after the intervention of VAR, which was the only time he got sent off in his two years at West Ham.

However, Tottenham’s social media admin has decided to ease the tension and the awkwardness by making a funny video of the newest Spurs signing ‘shaking hands’ with Van de Ven.

Kudus explains why he wanted to join Spurs

The Ghanaian has already become a fan favourite with Spurs fans, even before he has kicked a ball, given how West Ham supporters are raging at their club for selling Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham.

In his first interview as a Spurs player, Kudus revealed that Tottenham’s history and the size of the club attracted him to N17.

The winger also admitted that he loves getting fans off their feet by producing exciting moments and insisted that he is focused on Spurs’ objectives as a team rather than individual goals.

Tottenham Hotspur signings could be explained by stadium naming rights twist

Tottenham Hotspur signings could be explained by stadium naming rights twist - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been busy in the transfer market and there is a possibility their business will be funded by an investment package which includes naming rights at their stadium.

Tottenham have a reputation for tough negotiating and delaying signing players until late in the transfer window. However, the North London outfit have surprised many, including their own supporters, by spending hefty sums of cash to bolster the Tottenham first-team squad.

Spurs recently announced the signing of Mohammed Kudus and he became the club’s fourth most expensive player of all time. He will not be the only big-money signing of the summer, as Tottenham have activated the £60m release clause of Morgan Gibbs-White. On top of this, the club have already signed Kota Takai and Mathys Tel.

It is unusual for Tottenham to spend money in this manner and there have been claims that they could be set to receive investment.

Tottenham could receive investment which would fund their transfers

According to Telegraph Sport, sources have revealed that Tottenham are ‘working towards clinching a lucrative naming rights deal for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium‘.

Daniel Levy initially wanted £25m per year from such an agreement, and it remains unknown as to whether he has found a willing buyer, or whether he has dropped the mindblowing price.

It is also unclear whether an agreement over naming rights to the stadium is close to being agreed, because Tottenham are keeping commercial matters under wraps.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, Spurs were willing to deny they had been in talks with Nvidia, the world’s most valuable company, who refused to comment on their alleged interest in investing in Tottenham Hotspur.

Still, there remains a belief outside the club that either ENIC or an external organisation will invest, due to the fact that Tottenham are spending so much in the transfer market.

Spurs have a large net transfer debt to deal with

Apparently, the decision to appoint former Arsenal CEO Vinai Venkatesham, coupled with long-term executive director Donna Cullen stepping down from her role, was driven by the ownership and plans for investment.

Such investment would be important to Tottenham, who already have a net transfer debt – money owed to Spurs minus money they are still to pay out – of £279.3 million. This has not been mitigated much by the ENIC, who provide an average of £5.3m per season. Most of this amount came from a £97.5 million share issued in May 2022.

Levy has already stated that Tottenham cannot spend money they do not have and they have earned very little from player sales so far this summer.

Therefore, there must be some investment round the corner for Spurs to afford Mohammed Kudus, Morgan Gibbs-White and any other transfer targets they may sign before the window draws to a close.

Tottenham Hotspur may be about to receive their first bid for Yves Bissouma - Spurs Web
Description

While Juventus are keen on landing Yves Bissouma, they might be beaten to the punch as another European club is now ready to make their opening bid for the Tottenham man.

Since the start of the summer, several outlets have claimed that Tottenham could cash in on Bissouma, who now has just a year left on his contract at the North London club.

The Mali international only met Thomas Frank in the last few days, having not been part of the first group of players who have reported for pre-season training at Hotspur Way.

Earlier this week, it emerged that Juventus are eyeing a move for Bissouma after learning that he might not be part of Frank’s plans at N17. However, it turns out that a former Spurs manager could look to beat the Bianconeri to the player.

Fenerbahce are ready to launch an offer for Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma

According to a report in Sabah, Fenerbahce are now ready to make a move for Bissouma at the behest of their manager, Jose Mourinho.

The former Spurs head coach is said to be an admirer of the 28-year-old and asked the Fener hierarchy to bring him to Istanbul.

It is alleged that the Turkish side are ready to open negotiations with Tottenham and are even preparing a €15m (£13m) offer for the former Brighton man.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet says that Juve are also in the race to sign the Spurs midfielder, but the player is keen on joining Mourinho’s side.

Fabio Paratici is working on finding a buyer for Bissouma

This report comes just two days after it was reported by TBR Football that Paratici is actively offering Bissouma to a number of clubs across Europe.

The outlet claimed that the midfielder has already been told that he can leave and he is being offered to various sides who are known to be after a number six.

The report alleged that Tottenham are keen to move on Bissouma quickly to fund moves for their targets and to make space in their squad for new arrivals.

Atletico Madrid give up on Cristian Romero, Tottenham expected to push for new contract - Spurs Web
Description

Atletico Madrid have now abandoned their pursuit of Cristian Romero and they now expect Tottenham Hotspur to make a big move regarding the Argentine.

The last couple of days have been filled with great news for Spurs fans, with the club making decisive moves in the transfer market.

Mohammed Kudus became Tottenham’s third signing of the summer, becoming the first player to move from West Ham United to Spurs since Scott Parker in 2011.

Even more excitingly, Morgan Gibbs-White could soon arrive through the door in what will be a statement of intent from the Lilywhites ahead of Thomas Frank’s first season in charge.

Additionally, we have heard news over the last 48 hours that Atletico Madrid have called off their pursuit of Cristian Romero, which is almost as good as another signing for the North Londoners.

Atletico Madrid expect Tottenham to make a contract offer to Cristian Romero

That update has now been backed up by The Athletic, who say that Atletico are no longer pursuing the Tottenham vice-captain.

The outlet says that in the end, the La Liga side did not even make a formal approach for Romero and have already started studying potential alternatives.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Interestingly, the outlet adds that Diego Simeone’s men believe that Tottenham will now try to tie the Argentine defender to a new contract.

However, The Athletic do add one caveat, stating that some of what happens at this stage of the window could be mere negotiating tactics, which means that we should not completely rule out the possibility of the Spanish side making an approach for Romero later in the window.

Daniel Levy is ready to break the bank to keep Romero

It was claimed last week that Daniel Levy is prepared to make Romero Tottenham’s highest-paid player to keep him at the club.

However, some sources from Spain have maintained that the centre-back is unlikely to sign a new deal at N17 and that Romero will demand to leave Tottenham this summer as he has his heart set on a move to Atletico.

How Tottenham could line up with Mohammed Kudus, Morgan Gibbs-White and Yoane Wissa in the XI - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank could be spoiled for choice when it comes to selecting his first Tottenham line-up of the new season if he has Mohammed Kudus, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Yoane Wissa to call on.

The Spurs squad is now slowly taking shape under new head coach Thomas Frank, as Tottenham begin to get some summer deals over the line.

Mathys Tel was the first new signing under Thomas Frank, with Spurs agreeing a £29.5million deal with Bayern Munich after the youngster’s six-month loan spell at Tottenham.

Kota Takai has also joined the ranks at Spurs, following his £5million move from Kawasaki Frontale, a transfer that makes him the most expensive J-League player ever to be bought.

Mohammed Kudus has now completed a £55m move to Spurs, with the winger signing a six-year deal that should keep him at Hotspur Way until 2031.

It is claimed that the signing of Kudus would not prevent Tottenham from doing more transfer business, as Yoane Wissa remains firmly on Spurs’ radar.

Should the Lilywhites complete the signing of the Brentford man who grabbed 19 Premier League goals last season, Frank is sure to have more options to work with in attack, and that could affect how Tottenham line up.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Not only that, but Tottenham fans also have Morgan Gibbs-White’s medical to look forward to on Friday, with the Nottingham Forest star set to join in a £60m deal.

We have now decided to put together a hypothetical line-up that shows how Spurs could set up with Kudus, Gibbs-White, and Wissa in their XI.

Tottenham predicted line-up with Mohammed Kudus, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Yoane Wissa

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: Of course, in goal, we expect Vicario to be number one between the sticks as he was under Ange Postecoglou.

Right-back – Pedro Porro: Porro was a big part of Spurs’ set-up last season, as the full-back played the most minutes. He has returned to training early as well and should be Tottenham’s starting right-back.

Centre-back – Cristian Romero: The Argentine has been subject to numerous transfer rumours, but it is claimed that no offers have come in yet for Romero. We expect him to be at the heart of the defence should he not be sold.

Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: Van de Ven could be a tactical ace for Frank, as he could be used in a hybrid inverted full-back role and also as a traditional centre-back. His pace would make him indispensable.

Left-back – Destiny Udogie: At left-back, it would be a toss-up between Djed Spence and Udogie. But we would opt for Udogie in this line-up instead.

Pivot-midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: Bergvall will be looking to impress in pre-season, as Tottenham could very much be in the market for a new six, given Yves Bissouma’s inconsistencies.

Centre-mid – James Maddison: In the ten position, we could see Maddison feature there, especially with Dejan Kulusevski expected to return sometime during spring. Kudus could also be used in this position.

Centre-mid – Morgan Gibbs-White: Known for his creativity and impressive engine, Gibbs-White is arguably the perfect Thomas Frank midfielder, offering a consistent blend of flair and running.

Left-winger – Heung-min Son: While there has been talk about Son departing N17 this summer, it has since been revealed that Son is looking to remain at Spurs for at least one more season. Frank will be hoping to get the best out of his experienced winger, but there could be competition for that spot, with Tel waiting in the wings.

Striker – Yoane Wissa: Indeed, it is expected that Dominic Solanke would be the main man up top for Spurs. However, competition for places is essential. Wissa could offer that and would be an upgrade on Richarlison, as he is not as injury-prone as the Brazilian. The Brentford man is a different type of forward to Solanke, which would help Frank in different game scenarios. He could also play off the left, which is a bonus.

Right-winger – Mohammed Kudus: Brennan Johnson is now expected to have more competition on the right, with the arrival of Kudus. Of course, Wilson Odobert can do a job there too, as well as Kulusevski, which makes it very interesting for Tottenham. Johnson managed 18 goals in all competitions last term, while Kudus grabbed five. It would be interesting to see how that battle on the right plays out.

Thomas Frank reveals old-school coaching style as Tottenham step up pre-season training - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has offered a first real glimpse into his managerial approach at Tottenham, lifting the lid on his old-school coaching style and explaining what pre-season at Hotspur Way has looked like so far.

Thomas Frank’s first pre-season game is only just nine days away, as Tottenham Hotspur are set to face Reading on 19 July 2025 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, Reading.

While it was reported a few days ago that 19 players had returned to first-team training, several others have since begun to link up with the squad and their new manager.

Preparations for the upcoming campaign appear to be going smoothly for Spurs, as Frank has now finalised his new-look coaching staff.

Transfer business is also well underway, with Mohammed Kudus, Takai and Mathys Tel the latest additions under the Danish coach.

Thomas Frank reveals pre-season details at Tottenham

Thomas Frank has opened up on what pre-season preparations at Hotspur Way have involved, and in doing so, he has revealed the type of manager he is, describing himself as somewhat old school in his methods.

The new Tottenham boss explained that his players have begun running drills on the grass before they even get a feel for the ball, adding that more physical work is still to come as he looks to instil a strong mentality within the group.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He said, as relayed by Football.london: “I do not know if I am a modern coach or not sometimes, but we started running today. I think old school is still good school, I think that is still important to have a bit of that.

“Now we had a running test today and we will have that again when the internationals are back and probably also a little bit later down the season.

“But, in general, that was just a short test, basically a 1km test. So if they did it well enough, they are below three minutes 15 seconds. So that sounds easier, with turns by the way.

“So that is one thing that is done and then it is football. Everything with the ball, everything is on that, and then we will top up with some runs because I believe there is a big bit in that mental part of pushing.”

Thomas Frank eager to unite with every Tottenham player

For the first bit of running training that was done, a surprise Spurs player came out on top in that aspect of the session.

Frank has also made it clear that he is eager to get as many players back as quickly as possible, to properly assess the squad and get familiar with his new group.

He stated that he wants to observe the dynamics between his players, particularly how they relate with one another on and off the pitch, as he looks to find what combinations work best for the team.

He continued: “That is what I want. I want everyone in, really compare them against each other, see how they make themselves a relationship.

“Of course, I know the group in terms of looking from the outside, but it is different when you are on the inside and you work with them, you feel them, you understand them better and we all have our own views on certain players or relationship and it is up to me to find that perfect combination that makes the team perform on the highest possible level.”
