Simon Jordan delivers stark warning to Tottenham after Daniel Levy departure - Spurs Web
Description

Simon Jordan has questioned suggestions that ENIC have decided to get rid of Daniel Levy in order to bring on-pitch success to Tottenham, and he has issued a warning to those celebrating Levy’s departure.

According to reports, Levy was completely blindsided by ENIC’s decision to remove him, with the former Spurs chairman only finding out his fate hours before the club’s public announcement.

A number of sources have reported that the Lewis family want to usher in a new era at Tottenham, which brings sustained on-pitch success.

It has been rumoured that ENIC are set to inject more than £100m into Spurs immediately as they work towards that goal.

Simon Jordan questions how the Lewis family are positioning themselves

Jordan has now suggested that the Lewis family may have decided to move Levy on as a prelude to a potential sale of the club.

He questioned claims that they want to usher in a new era of success, pointing out that they could have invested money into the club all these years if they wanted to.

The former Crystal Palace owner told talkSPORT: “I would say, probably, Joe Lewis, the Lewis family have probably pushed Daniel, the judgment is interesting. Whether they want to get some new money in the business, whether they’re selling the business, or whether Daniel may be being moved out of the way to achieve both outcomes.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“It’s an interesting characterisation that the Lewis family are now putting out, that they’re suggesting that they want a new level of success, which then positions them with some new currency with the fans.

“I imagine the business was run by Daniel under their direction and their ambitions were probably very different, to fund the football club in a different way.

“So it’s now interesting that they’re positioning themselves in pursuit of success because that gives them extra currency with the fans and makes this look like a new era and Daniel as part of the past and the reasons why they didn’t get success.”

Jordan criticises those revelling in Daniel Levy’s Tottenham departure

The pundit believes that Levy leaves a great legacy at Tottenham Hotspur, who are now ripe for investment.

He also questioned whether it would be good for the English game if all the top clubs in the country were owned by Middle Eastern or American consortia.

Jordan added: “I think the legacy for Daniel has to be that he’s built a brilliant football club, with a real opportunity, and those who are revelling in the fact that Daniel’s gone, be careful what you wish for.

“We’ll see what the future looks like, because it won’t be a wonderful thing if every single football club that we have in this country is owned by Middle Eastern or American businesses.”

Description

Jamie O’Hara has made a bold five-year prediction for Tottenham following Daniel Levy’s exit, as the club heads into a new era with questions over what comes next for Spurs.

Many Tottenham Hotspur fans would still be coming to terms with the latest report that Daniel Levy has departed Spurs after a 24-year stay.

The former chairman did accomplish a few things during his time at the helm, leading Tottenham to a League Cup win in 2008 and a Europa League triumph in 2024.

Levy also improved Tottenham’s revenue streams, surpassing several other clubs in the process, with no team generating more income than Spurs in his time as chairman.

Jamie O’Hara issues Tottenham prediction after Daniel Levy departure

Daniel Levy’s exit has naturally sparked debate, but the big question now is whether Tottenham can push on and achieve greater things on the pitch.

The former chairman received a lot of stick during his tenure, with fans constantly questioning his ambitions in the transfer market and the lack of silverware that followed despite Spurs’ growth off the field.

Speaking to Sky Sports News on September 5, Jamie O’Hara explained why he believes Levy leaving represents a turning point, saying: “This is the first hurdle [Levy leaving] in the future of what Tottenham will look like in five or six years.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

The former Tottenham midfielder continued by highlighting how the club’s off-pitch success has placed them in a strong position to attract big investment: “Everyone makes fun of how there is NFL there [at Tottenham’s stadium], Formula One, Beyonce and all of that turning up, that is an unbelievable thing that they have managed to get.

“Anyone would want to be a part of that, anyone would want to own it [the club]. I do not think the Lewis family want to sell it, I think they might want investment, and I think there might be some big investment potentially on the horizon.”

O’Hara went further by questioning whether Spurs are ready to finally step up on the football side of things: “Now I think Tottenham are primed and in a position, with the facilities that they have, that they want to go to the next level.

“Can they win Premier titles? Can they win Champions League titles? Can they be that football club that can compete? Because under Daniel Levy, when they were in those key moments where there was the opportunity to push on, on the pitch, to sign big players or to go to the next level, it has not happened.”

What next for Spurs and the Lewis family

The Lewis family do not want to sell Tottenham, according to reports, but are instead eager to ensure success on the pitch.

It is claimed that there is set to be a change in transfer strategy at Tottenham, with focus expected to be on securing marquee additions rather than stop-gap options.

Description

Tottenham fans will be over the moon with what Dejan Kulusevski has just said about his injury status, with the attacking midfielder revealing that he is making solid progress as he aims to return to the pitch as soon as possible.

Thomas Frank and his coaching staff are still waiting to get their first look at the Swede in the training ground, with the 25-year-old having not kicked a ball since the start of May.

It was reported last month that Kulusevski would only miss the first month of the season, but since then, it has become clear that the former Juventus man is not as far along in his rehabilitation as initially thought.

A few days ago, Alasdair Gold revealed that Kulusevski is not expected to return to the pitch until December, but the midfielder has now provided a promising update.

Dejan Kulusevski is delighted with how his recovery is progressing at Tottenham

The Tottenham Hotspur star gave an interview back in Sweden, where he provided a promising update about his expected return date.

Kulusevski admitted that he is delighted with how his knee is progressing and insisted that he is confident of being back on the pitch in two or three months.

When asked about his injury, the Sweden international told Fotbollskanalen: “The status is good. The rehab is going well. Every day I wake up with the same hunger and even more hunger with each passing day.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“The status is very good, and I will be on a football pitch in the very, very near future. If everything goes as it should, as it has so far, I am very confident that I will be on the pitch in two to three months.”

Kulusevski praised for his gesture during the international break

Despite not being able to train or play, Kulusevski joined up with the Swedish squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo.

The Tottenham Hotspur man made the trip to show his support for the side, and he has been praised for doing so.

Why I hated dealing with Daniel Levy at Tottenham, reveals ex-Southampton CEO - Spurs Web
Description

Southampton CEO Martin Semmens has shed light on his dealings with Daniel Levy, admitting that the former Tottenham chairman made negotiations very difficult.

We are now in the post-Levy era at Spurs, with the long-serving Tottenham chairman being asked to step down with immediate effect by the club’s owners a few days ago.

According to reports, the Lewis family have sacked Levy to usher in a new era of sporting success at Spurs.

However, it has also emerged that another reason for their decision was that several Premier League clubs had refused to deal with Levy due to his adversarial negotiating style.

Martin Semmens admits Daniel Levy was difficult to deal with

Semmens, who has been on the opposite end of the table to the 63-year-old while negotiating deals, has now confirmed that the former Spurs chairman was not an easy figure to deal with.

He admitted that he did not enjoy his dealings with Levy, but pointed out that it is not a criticism of the former Spurs supremo’s negotiating prowess.

The Saints CEO told talkSPORT about his dealings with Levy: “I had my run-ins with him on transfers. Difficult negotiator. I didn’t love it, but that doesn’t mean he’s bad at it.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I had a much better time selling to Sir Alex’s Man United because they would spend more money. Difficult to deal with, not always warm and easy in doing transactions, but that’s not a bad thing.”

Semmens admits a 2020 transfer deal with Tottenham was particularly hard

The Southampton chief revealed that the negotiations with Spurs over Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg were particularly difficult as Levy was insistent on driving down the price.

Hojbjerg did eventually seal a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2020, with Kyle Walker-Peters going the other way.

Semmens continued: “The one that we struggled on was the (Pierre-Emile) Hojberg transfer. He had one year left on his contract.

“A lot of conversation goes on about driving that price down, and we were not going to put up with that, and that caused some friction. But can you blame him for trying to drive down the price? It’s the business, no.”

Tottenham make early January transfer decision on Ademola Lookman - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have now made their transfer decision on Ademola Lookman, following their failed pursuit to land him on deadline day.

Thomas Frank’s first summer in charge was a busy one, with Tottenham Hotspur spending well over £160 million on new signings and significantly reshaping the squad.

There was a sense that the club could have done even more business had they pushed a little harder on deadline day, with reports suggesting that several deals were close yet ultimately failed to materialise. In the end, Randal Kolo Muani was the only addition made on 1 September.

Tottenham were also strongly linked with Ademola Lookman, who had impressed in Serie A with Atalanta, but no agreement was reached as the Italian side was pushing for a permanent sale rather than a temporary loan move.

Tottenham decide against January move for Ademola Lookman

According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham have now made their stance clear on Lookman’s future, and it will not please those who were keen to see him brought in during the January window.

The outlet claims that Spurs have decided not to pursue their interest in the Nigerian international, despite holding serious admiration for him after his 20-goal season in Italy. While the club were keen in the summer, they have no plans to revive the deal midway through the campaign.

It is further suggested that Tottenham would only reconsider their position if results and performances between now and January change the mood within the boardroom, leaving the door slightly open but only under particular circumstances.

Bayern Munich interest and Tottenham’s other targets

Lookman was courted by several clubs in the summer, with Bayern Munich also keeping an eye on him, although they too were unable to strike a deal with Atalanta.

The forward remains a sought-after player in Europe, and while Tottenham have cooled its pursuit for now, that does not mean the story is over completely, given his proven quality in front of goal.

Daniel Levy’s seven biggest accomplishments in 24 years as Tottenham chairman

Daniel Levy’s seven biggest accomplishments in 24 years as Tottenham chairman - Spurs Web
Description

Daniel Levy’s time as Tottenham chairman has divided opinion for over two decades, but as his 24-year reign finally comes to an end, we look back at the seven defining accomplishments that shaped his legacy in north London.

Daniel Levy’s nearly quarter-century stay at Tottenham Hotspur has come to an end, with the long-serving chairman now departing north London.

It is understood that the exit was not one he had foreseen, with reports suggesting that Levy was left blindsided by the club’s decision to move on.

Levy has often found himself the target of criticism from Tottenham fans, with accusations of lacking ambition both in the transfer market and on the pitch, where supporters wanted to see greater drive for success.

With Tottenham now set to embark on a new era, we have highlighted seven of Daniel Levy’s biggest accomplishments as chairman of the club.

Daniel Levy wins his first trophy with Tottenham

Daniel Levy took charge as Tottenham chairman in 2001, though it would take several years before the club achieved anything tangible on the pitch.

Silverware did not arrive until 2008, when Spurs lifted the League Cup after beating London rivals Chelsea at Wembley.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It was not the grandest of prizes for a club that had once secured European honours, but it was still the first trophy of Levy’s tenure, and although he may have hoped to build on that moment, further success proved elusive.

Daniel Levy delivers the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Levy has long regarded the construction of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as his crowning off-field achievement, with the £1 billion project transforming the club’s image.

The ground, completed in 2019, is widely viewed as a modern masterpiece, hosting not only Spurs’ Premier League fixtures but also NFL matches, boxing events, and major concerts.

As well as being a state-of-the-art venue, the stadium has proven a financial powerhouse, generating millions in revenue year on year and placing Tottenham among the top clubs in Europe for commercial growth.

Hotspur Way marks another milestone

The performances on the pitch are the product of the relentless work carried out at Hotspur Way, Tottenham’s world-class training ground that opened under Levy’s guidance.

The complex features 15 full-size grass pitches, including four dedicated to the men’s first team, alongside an indoor 80x50m ETFE-covered pitch, fitness suites, analysis rooms, and cutting-edge medical facilities.

Designed with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind, Hotspur Way quickly established itself as one of the finest training centres in world football, with Levy playing a central role in its creation.

Tottenham reach Champions League final under Levy

Levy’s biggest critics have long accused him of lacking ambition on the pitch, yet his tenure did deliver a landmark moment in 2019 when Tottenham reached their first-ever Champions League final.

That unforgettable run, capped off with a semi-final comeback against Ajax, ended in disappointment as Spurs lost to Liverpool in Madrid, but it nonetheless represented a historic achievement for the club under his stewardship.

While fans expected Tottenham to push on from that point, the momentum was not sustained, and Spurs gradually slipped backwards instead of building on their European adventure.

Daniel Levy secures world record fee for Gareth Bale

If success on the pitch was scarce, then Levy’s reputation as a negotiator was unmatched off it, and the 2013 sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid remains one of his biggest achievements.

Tottenham secured a world record fee of £85.3 million for Bale, surpassing the amount Madrid had previously paid for Cristiano Ronaldo, which cemented Levy’s standing as one of football’s toughest dealmakers.

However, that same trait often drew frustration from fans, as his insistence on driving hard bargains occasionally saw transfer moves collapse or drag out longer than necessary.

Levy grows Tottenham’s financial power

Levy’s business acumen also ensured that Tottenham consistently posted healthy profits, with financial reports confirming that no other Premier League club made more over his time in charge.

Figures showed Spurs earned £65 million more than their nearest rival for profitability during his reign, a gap that highlighted just how strong Levy had made the club off the field.

In an era dominated by Financial Fair Play and sustainability regulations, his ability to keep Tottenham secure has left the club well-placed to invest wisely in the years ahead.

Tottenham finally win European silverware in 2024

Perhaps the crowning moment of Levy’s tenure came just last season, when Tottenham lifted the Europa League in Bilbao to end a 17-year wait for silverware.

Guided by Ange Postecoglou, Spurs endured a dismal domestic campaign that saw them finish 17th in the Premier League, but their European success provided a much-needed lift and gave Levy his second trophy as chairman.

Levy backed Postecoglou throughout that turbulent season and was rewarded when the Australian delivered on his promise of a second-season triumph, although both their tenures ended shortly afterwards as Tottenham opted for sweeping change.

Three positions Tottenham Hotspur must still fill in the January transfer window

Three positions Tottenham Hotspur must still fill in the January transfer window - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur made some good signings this summer, but Thomas Frank is still short on options in some positions.

The transfer window has closed, and the Tottenham first-team squad is in a much better position than it was in June. However, there are still three positions in the team where the level of available players remains an issue.

Spurs will have another opportunity to sign players in January, and it is essential that signings are made in the areas which are still lacking.

Here are the three positions where Tottenham must add to their squad in the January transfer window.

Tottenham need a left winger

The stuck record continues, but it is playing a necessary tune. Tottenham Hotspur have a clear weakness in their squad on the left wing.

Mathys Tel has missed out on Tottenham’s Champions League squad. This decision was ultimately made by Thomas Frank, but it highlights the club’s shortcomings this summer. Tel is the only natural left winger at Spurs, and he is not yet deemed to be good enough for the first team.

Brennan Johnson has been starting there, but once the fixtures begin to stack up, it would be useful to have him available as a backup to Mohammed Kudus.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It has been reported that Tottenham could return for Savinho in January. While both Johnson and Wilson Odobert are capable of covering on the left, Savinho could take the team to the next level.

Spurs would benefit from signing another full-back

Tottenham were linked with former full-backs Kyle Walker-Peters and Dennis Cirkin earlier in the summer, but talks went quiet as Spurs prioritised attacking targets.

On the surface, there are some decent options on the defensive flanks. Pedro Porro is one of the best players around in his position, while Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie are both versatile options. However, if two of these were to be out with injury at the same time, that could cause Spurs some issues.

Archie Gray played well as a right-back for Leeds United, but that was in the Championship and he has mostly played as a centre-back or a midfielder at Tottenham. Another point is that with Bissouma still linked with a Spurs exit, Gray could be called on when Joao Palhinha needs a rest.

Tottenham should consider another quality centre-back

Spurs missed out on Manuel Akanji just before the transfer window closed and he was not the only centre-back mentioned in Tottenham circles. Piero Hincapie was another until his move to the other side of North London, and Nathan Ake was also brought up.

Tottenham obviously have two of the very best in Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso can do a job too. However, Frank is clearly not all that impressed with his other options. Neither Kota Takai nor Radu Dragusin has made his Champions League squad, although to be fair, both players have been out with injuries.

Ben Davies has made the squad, but Spurs surely do not want to have to rely on the Welshman. He has lost some pace as time has gone on and Tottenham would be better off signing a player who has made more appearances over the past few years. Ultimately, Tottenham should aim to have four solid central defenders in their team.

On-loan Tottenham starlet left out of Europa Conference League squad in gutting blow

On-loan Tottenham starlet left out of Europa Conference League squad in gutting blow - Spurs Web
Description

A young Tottenham centre-back may already be regretting his decision to join a Scottish club on loan, as he has now been omitted from the club’s Europa Conference League squad.

We already know that Mikey Moore will be playing in the Europa League rather than the Champions League this season after Rangers were knocked out by Club Brugge in the qualifiers.

Moore revealed that his desire to play in the biggest competitions was one of the reasons he signed for Rangers, but his Champions League dream was over before it started.

Now, another Tottenham youngster, who also moved to Scotland on loan, has just discovered that he will be playing no part in Europe at all this season.

Dorrington is left out of Aberdeen’s Europa Conference League squad

Alfie Dorrington impressed on loan at Aberdeen during the second half of last season and was persuaded to return to the Scottish Premiership this summer.

The 20-year-old would have been hoping to play in the Europa League when he returned to the Dons, but the club had to settle for a place in the Conference League after losing to Romanian outfit FCSB in the qualifiers.

Now, the Spurs academy centre-back has found out that he will not be playing any European football at all for the first half of the season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

UEFA’s rules on the constitution and size of the squad meant that Jimmy Thelin’s men had to leave out five players from the Conference League squad, and Dorrington is one of the players to miss out.

Will Tottenham consider cutting short Alfie Dorrington’s loan spell?

Dorrington was a key player for Aberdeen last term, and even started in the Scottish League Cup final, which the Dons won on penalties against Celtic.

The club’s decision to leave the England Under-19 international out of the Conference League squad would have thus come as a surprise to the player as well as his parent club.

What Bayern Munich think about Harry Kane exit next summer, Tottenham still have a clause

What Bayern Munich think about Harry Kane exit next summer, Tottenham still have a clause - Spurs Web
Description

A leading German pundit has revealed that the expectation at Bayern Munich is that Tottenham legend Harry Kane will return to the Premier League next summer.

Tottenham Hotspur’s record scorer has broken all sorts of goal records since his move to the Allianz Arena a little over two years ago, having scored 91 goals and provided 28 assists in 100 appearances for the Bundesliga giants.

It has been widely reported that Kane’s contract at Bayern has a release clause which will continue to drop with each transfer window.

The Telegraph suggested last month that the England captain could return to the Premier League next summer after the 2026 World Cup.

Bayern Munich expect Harry Kane to push for a move to England

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has now suggested that the feeling at the Bavarian club is that the 32-year-old will push for a return to England after the 2026 World Cup.

He explained that the Bavarian club are already preparing for the striker’s departure and even tried to future-proof themselves in this summer’s transfer window.

Hamann told Adventure Gamers (as relayed by Goal.com): “I think Harry Kane has a clause that allows him to leave for a certain amount next summer. I believe the reason Bayern Munich wanted to bring Nick Woltemade in this summer was because many within the club think Kane wants to go back to England after the World Cup.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Whether that’s the case, I don’t know, but potentially it could be his last season in Munich if someone pays the fee, he can choose to leave next summer. Whether someone pays £50 million or £60m for him next summer, I don’t know.

“Obviously, a lot will depend on what happens this season in the World Cup. But yes, I think a lot of people, I don’t know where they get it from, but many seem to believe that he may want to return to England next summer.”

Tottenham are expected to try to re-sign Harry Kane

It is no secret that Tottenham added a first refusal clause when they sold Kane to Bayern, which potentially gives the Lilywhites an advantage over other suitors should the striker decide to leave the German club.

Some journalists, like Pete O’Rourke, were convinced that prior to his exit earlier this week that Daniel Levy would try to bring the England captain back to Spurs next summer should he become available.

Winger opens up on ‘tough five months’ at Tottenham, but he is finally happy now - Spurs Web
Description

Bryan Gil has made an interesting admission after sealing a deadline day move from Tottenham Hotspur to Girona, and has reflected on what has been a difficult few months for him.

The Spaniard’s Spurs nightmare is finally over, with the winger leaving the Lilywhites after making just 11 Premier League appearances for the club across four years.

Gil sealed a permanent move to Girona in an £8.5m deal on Monday, returning to the Spanish side after impressing on loan there last term.

Gil sent a classy message, thanking Tottenham after completing the permanent switch to the Estadi Montilivi, admitting that he will always wish the best for the North London club in the future.

Bryan Gil admitted that he only wanted to join Girona

Spurs had been working to find a buyer for Gil all through the summer, and only succeeded at the very end.

According to reports, Fabio Paratici’s tired hard to convince Bologna to buy Gil, but in the end, the Serie A side decided against it.

The 24-year-old has now confessed that he had his heart set on a return to Girona and waited for the La Liga club to come calling all summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Spain international said (via Mundo Deportivo and translated by Sport Witness): “Girona mean a lot to me, which is why I waited until the end of the transfer window to come here. The transfer window has been difficult and hectic, but the important thing is that I’m where I wanted to be.”

Gil eyeing 2026 World Cup after ‘difficult’ five months

Part of the reason Tottenham Hotspur struggled to find a buyer for the former Sevilla man is due to his knee injury, which has kept him out of action since March.

The winger admitted that it was not easy to be sidelined for so long, but added that he is now raring to go, having set his sights on being part of Spain’s squad for the World Cup next summer.

Gil said: “It’s been a tough five months. I’ve worked hard to get back as soon as possible and I’m fine. I’ll gradually get back into match rhythm, but my knee is perfect, and that’s the most important thing.

“Last season, I was left with the disappointment of not being able to say goodbye properly because of the injury, but football always gives second chances.”

When asked about his goals for the season, the former Tottenham man responded: “We want to have a good season and stay in La Liga. We have the squad to achieve that, and the results will come. Personally, I’d like to improve my goal, assist records and be part of the squad to play in the World Cup.”
