What Bayern Munich think about Harry Kane exit next summer, Tottenham still have a clause - Spurs Web
Description

A leading German pundit has revealed that the expectation at Bayern Munich is that Tottenham legend Harry Kane will return to the Premier League next summer.

Tottenham Hotspur’s record scorer has broken all sorts of goal records since his move to the Allianz Arena a little over two years ago, having scored 91 goals and provided 28 assists in 100 appearances for the Bundesliga giants.

It has been widely reported that Kane’s contract at Bayern has a release clause which will continue to drop with each transfer window.

The Telegraph suggested last month that the England captain could return to the Premier League next summer after the 2026 World Cup.

Bayern Munich expect Harry Kane to push for a move to England

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has now suggested that the feeling at the Bavarian club is that the 32-year-old will push for a return to England after the 2026 World Cup.

He explained that the Bavarian club are already preparing for the striker’s departure and even tried to future-proof themselves in this summer’s transfer window.

Hamann told Adventure Gamers (as relayed by Goal.com): “I think Harry Kane has a clause that allows him to leave for a certain amount next summer. I believe the reason Bayern Munich wanted to bring Nick Woltemade in this summer was because many within the club think Kane wants to go back to England after the World Cup.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Whether that’s the case, I don’t know, but potentially it could be his last season in Munich if someone pays the fee, he can choose to leave next summer. Whether someone pays £50 million or £60m for him next summer, I don’t know.

“Obviously, a lot will depend on what happens this season in the World Cup. But yes, I think a lot of people, I don’t know where they get it from, but many seem to believe that he may want to return to England next summer.”

Tottenham are expected to try to re-sign Harry Kane

It is no secret that Tottenham added a first refusal clause when they sold Kane to Bayern, which potentially gives the Lilywhites an advantage over other suitors should the striker decide to leave the German club.

Some journalists, like Pete O’Rourke, were convinced that prior to his exit earlier this week that Daniel Levy would try to bring the England captain back to Spurs next summer should he become available.

Winger opens up on ‘tough five months’ at Tottenham, but he is finally happy now - Spurs Web
Description

Bryan Gil has made an interesting admission after sealing a deadline day move from Tottenham Hotspur to Girona, and has reflected on what has been a difficult few months for him.

The Spaniard’s Spurs nightmare is finally over, with the winger leaving the Lilywhites after making just 11 Premier League appearances for the club across four years.

Gil sealed a permanent move to Girona in an £8.5m deal on Monday, returning to the Spanish side after impressing on loan there last term.

Gil sent a classy message, thanking Tottenham after completing the permanent switch to the Estadi Montilivi, admitting that he will always wish the best for the North London club in the future.

Bryan Gil admitted that he only wanted to join Girona

Spurs had been working to find a buyer for Gil all through the summer, and only succeeded at the very end.

According to reports, Fabio Paratici’s tired hard to convince Bologna to buy Gil, but in the end, the Serie A side decided against it.

The 24-year-old has now confessed that he had his heart set on a return to Girona and waited for the La Liga club to come calling all summer.

The Spain international said (via Mundo Deportivo and translated by Sport Witness): “Girona mean a lot to me, which is why I waited until the end of the transfer window to come here. The transfer window has been difficult and hectic, but the important thing is that I’m where I wanted to be.”

Gil eyeing 2026 World Cup after ‘difficult’ five months

Part of the reason Tottenham Hotspur struggled to find a buyer for the former Sevilla man is due to his knee injury, which has kept him out of action since March.

The winger admitted that it was not easy to be sidelined for so long, but added that he is now raring to go, having set his sights on being part of Spain’s squad for the World Cup next summer.

Gil said: “It’s been a tough five months. I’ve worked hard to get back as soon as possible and I’m fine. I’ll gradually get back into match rhythm, but my knee is perfect, and that’s the most important thing.

“Last season, I was left with the disappointment of not being able to say goodbye properly because of the injury, but football always gives second chances.”

When asked about his goals for the season, the former Tottenham man responded: “We want to have a good season and stay in La Liga. We have the squad to achieve that, and the results will come. Personally, I’d like to improve my goal, assist records and be part of the squad to play in the World Cup.”

Tottenham could receive stadium naming rights boost after Daniel Levy’s exit - Spurs Web
Description

Daniel Levy’s exit from Tottenham Hotspur may pave the way for the club to finally secure a naming rights partner for their stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur moved into their new billion-pound stadium back in April of 2019, but the club still have not found a naming rights partner for the venue.

Reports over recent months have claimed that Tottenham have had conversations with Amazon, Google, and DHL regarding a long-term deal.

Some sources have even claimed that Daniel Levy has already rejected multiple naming rights offers, with the former Spurs chairman said to have been holding out for a lucrative agreement.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium may soon get a new name

The Telegraph have now suggested that following Levy’s exit and the re-structuring of Tottenham’s leadership, we may see developments regarding the naming rights.

The report claims that shortly after the opening of the stadium, the former Spurs executive chairman was hoping to secure a £25m-a-year for 15 years, which would have earned the club a world-record £375m.

However, he was unable to find a company willing to match that valuation. Now that Levy has departed, the outlet claims that it could have the consequence of unlocking a naming rights deal for the club.

ENIC expected to invest significant money into Tottenham

Alasdair Gold has suggested that Levy’s exit may pave the way for ENIC to inject some cash into Tottenham Hotspur.

This has been backed up by The Telegraph, who say that over £100m of equity is scheduled to be pumped into the club.

This will be done with the goal of ensuring that Tottenham can be competitive on all fronts, with ENIC wanting to bring ‘sustained sporting success’ to the club.

Morgan Rogers makes admission following heavy links with a Tottenham move - Spurs Web
Description

Morgan Rogers, who was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham this summer, has addressed the speculation over his future and his future at Aston Villa.

Spurs were linked with a whole host of attacking midfielders before they eventually secured Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig in the final days of the transfer window.

One of those was the Aston Villa man, with several sources claiming that Tottenham wanted to test Villa’s resolve to hold onto Rogers.

It was suggested by some sources that Spurs were ready to break the bank for Rogers, but according to various journalists, Villa made it clear to the Lilywhites that they would not be selling their star midfielder.

Rogers has said that he is delighted to remain at the Midlands club, revealing that he has a fantastic relationship with Unai Emery, who makes him feel special.

The 23-year-old suggested that the Spaniard allows him the freedom to express himself on the pitch, claiming the former Arsenal boss is exactly the kind of coach he needs at this stage of his career.

When asked about the support from Emery and the speculation over his Villa future all summer, the England international told talkSPORT: “It means everything as a player, when you feel wanted, when you feel loved, when you feel like they want you to be there and they want you to be a key member of the squad.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“It’s alright having outside noise and fans liking you, that’s one thing, but to have the manager, he’s the one that makes the decisions, picks the teams. To have that real backing and that real love behind you, that means everything to me.

“He just allows me to play football and express myself and he knows like me, I’m not always going to get it right or be perfect, but he trusts me to this point where he knows that I’m going to give it my all.

“If it works then great and, if it doesn’t, we move on to the next game and go again and we try even harder. To have that manager behind me is perfect and it’s just what I needed at this time in my career.”

Why Tottenham may struggle to prise Rogers away in January

It remains to be seen if Tottenham Hotspur go back in for Rogers in January, but based on his statement, it does not sound like he is going to ask to leave Villa anytime soon.

It is going to be hard to convince him to move six months before a World Cup, as his focus will be on keeping his place in the England squad.

Tottenham may feel they have a better chance of signing the former Middlesbrough man next summer, but that would depend on how Villa and the Lilywhites perform this campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino reveals he sent a text to Daniel Levy after Tottenham exit - Spurs Web
Description

Mauricio Pochettino has spoken for the first time about Daniel Levy’s exit from Tottenham, revealing the private message he sent to the long-serving chairman after his sudden departure.

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer of change eventually reached its peak when club chairman Daniel Levy stepped away from his role after nearly 25 years at the helm.

The 63-year-old had played a central role in overseeing Tottenham’s busy summer rebuild, backing new boss Thomas Frank with significant investment, as more than £150 million was spent to strengthen the squad.

It was news that left Tottenham fans stunned, given Levy’s long association with the club, and now former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed what he told Levy following his departure.

Mauricio Pochettino reacts to Daniel Levy’s Tottenham exit

Pochettino enjoyed a successful spell in charge of Tottenham, working closely with Daniel Levy during his five-year tenure.

The pair always appeared to share a strong professional relationship, and the Argentine has never hidden his admiration for Spurs or his desire to return one day.

Speaking after Levy’s exit, Pochettino admitted he was shocked by the news and explained that he reached out to his former chairman.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In an interview with Sky Sports, he said: “I knew the news about Daniel Levy yesterday. I am a little bit in shock, because he was my former president. I do not know what happened there.

“Of course, I sent a text to him and I sent a text to different people that were very close to him. Still no answer from Levy. I do not have more information.

“What I want to say is I wish all the best for his life and his family time. My relationship was always very good. I was in shock like many people that know him.”

What Levy’s departure means for Spurs and Pochettino

Despite his sacking, Levy still holds shares in Tottenham, although he is no longer involved in footballing decisions at the club.

It is understood that the departure itself came as a surprise to Levy, who had not been expecting to leave his role after nearly a quarter of a century in charge.

Spurs are now focused on pushing forward under Thomas Frank, with a new era already underway, and the hope is that this fresh direction on and off the pitch finally brings tangible success.

As for Pochettino, his open admiration for Tottenham means speculation over a potential return will never fully disappear, but Levy’s absence may change what that future looks like.

How Daniel Levy felt after being asked to leave Tottenham after 24 years - Spurs Web
Description

Daniel Levy was not keen to step down as executive chairman of Tottenham Hotspur after being asked to do so, with the 63-year-old having planned for some big changes at N17.

Out of the blue, Spurs announced on Thursday that Levy had stepped down from his role as executive chairman of Tottenham, a position which he has held for nearly two and a half decades.

However, since then, reports have indicated that Levy was asked to resign rather than stepping down of his own accord, with the Lewis family making the decision following a thorough review of the club.

According to some sources, Levy was completely blindsided by the decision to remove him, having only been told the news hours before the club’s announcement on Thursday.

Daniel Levy was reluctant to leave his role at Tottenham

TBR Football have now said that the 63-year-old was reluctant to give up his role at the top of the North London club when the owners informed him of their decision.

Levy had played a key part in what was a busy summer transfer window for Spurs and the appointment of Thomas Frank.

He was about to confirm the return of his close confidante, Fabio Paratici, as the head of Tottenham’s footballing department.

The outlet also adds that the Lewis family have been considering parting ways with Levy for many months before finally pulling the trigger a couple of days ago.

Fabio Paratici is not certain to return to Tottenham

TBR Football say that following Levy’s exit, Fabio Paratici’s return to Tottenham in an official role, which was previously a done deal, has now become uncertain.

This has also been backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who has said that Paratici will now consider his options following Levy’s exit.

Xavi Simons’ first match since joining Tottenham did not go to plan, played out of position

Xavi Simons’ first match since joining Tottenham did not go to plan, played out of position - Spurs Web
Description

Xavi Simons failed to pull up any trees after being played out of position for the Netherlands against Poland, with the new Tottenham signing coming in for plenty of criticism from the media back in his home country.

Spurs fans will have to wait until after the international break to watch their brand-new £51m signing in a Tottenham shirt for the first time.

Simons has made it clear that he prefers playing as a number ten, but the 22-year-old has also been used on the left by RB Leipzig.

However, Ronald Koeman decided to use him in a role which is alien to the attacker against Poland on Friday and the Spurs man struggled to impact the game.

Dutch media did not like what they saw from Xavi Simons

Koeman decided to use Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo on the left side, with Manchester City’s Tijjani Reijnders operating as the number 10. He thus decided to use Simons on the right of a front three.

The Tottenham Hotspur man did try to occupy the half-spaces on the right, with Denzel Dumfries overlapping from right-back to give the Oranje width, but the young attacker struggled to influence the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Voetbal Primeur rated Simons at 5.5 out of 10 and wrote about his performance: “Was supposed to be a right winger, but by cutting inside a lot, he effectively functioned as a second striker. That didn’t work out so well. Simons had little to no say in the matter.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Algemeen Dagblad went with a 5 out of 10 rating, writing: “Spurs’ new signing had to make his mark this time on the right wing, replacing the injured Frimpong.

“Before halftime, he lost possession twice, giving Poland a counter-attack. His shot, delivered by Memphis Depay, also failed to make it 2-0. He was later substituted for Malen.”

Voetbal International rated Simons at just 5.5 out of 10, while Voetbalzone handed him just 4 out of 10.

Simons will get to play his favoured role at Tottenham

It will not be fair to judge the young attacker too harshly, given the position he was playing in. One would expect Simons to be handed his favoured number ten role at Tottenham.

With James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski on the treatment table, Simons will get a run in the side in the central role, and Spurs fans will be hoping that he can make the position his own.

Pedro Porro makes Champions League claim after Tottenham draw PSG and Borussia Dortmund - Spurs Web
Description

Pedro Porro has shut down questions over whether Tottenham Hotspur deserve a place in this season’s UEFA Champions League.

During the business end of last season, there was plenty of chatter about whether the Europa League winners truly deserve a spot in the UEFA Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur, who were dreadful in the Premier League and finished a dismal 17th, managed to secure their return to Europe’s top table after beating Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao, Spain.

It was a landmark moment for Tottenham, ending their 17-year wait for silverware and sealing a long-awaited ticket back into the Champions League, where their campaign is set to begin later this month.

Pedro Porro insists Tottenham deserve Champions League spot

Pedro Porro has made it clear that Tottenham deserve their place in the Champions League this season, and in an interview with ABC (as relayed by Sport Witness), he addressed questions over the manner in which Spurs qualified for Europe’s elite competition.

The Spanish full-back admitted that Tottenham’s struggles in the league were difficult to take, explaining that he often felt he was watching two different versions of the same team. However, he remains convinced that Spurs deserve their place in the Champions League.

He said: “We had a very difficult year in the league due to many factors. Things were not going our way, we were not competing as we should have, because I saw two different teams, one in the Premier League and one in the Europa League.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“In the Europa League, we knew how to compete well, and that paid off. But when you do not compete in a competition like the Premier League, where you have to be at 200% every game, it is difficult.”

“At the end of the season, we won the Europa League and we are going to play in the Champions League this year. We deserve it.”

Thomas Frank begins Tottenham reign as Champions League looms

Tottenham parted ways with Ange Postecoglou despite him delivering on his promise of silverware in his second season, with his dreadful league campaign proving costly.

Thomas Frank has since stepped in, and the Dane has already started to make his mark domestically, guiding Spurs to two wins from their opening three Premier League fixtures.

The new Tottenham boss has never managed in Europe before, and his first taste will come at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Villarreal.

Supporters will be hoping his side can balance their performances both in the league and on the continental stage this term, as Tottenham aims for a much better all-round display this season.

Three things Tottenham will gain and lose from Daniel Levy’s shock exit

Three things Tottenham will gain and lose from Daniel Levy’s shock exit - Spurs Web
Description

Daniel Levy is no longer the Executive Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, which provides Spurs with both potential issues and new opportunities.

Tottenham Hotspur left their supporters in disbelief as it was announced that Daniel Levy was stepping down as Spurs chairman after 24 years.

Levy oversaw the reign of 14 permanent Tottenham managers and during his time in the role, Spurs won the League Cup and the Europa League.

Many supporters have been calling on Levy to resign for years, while others believe he is to thank for transforming the club. With all the pros and cons of his departure weighed up, it is time to take a look at the three things Spurs will lose and gain from Levy’s exit.

Tottenham will lose stability with Daniel Levy gone

Say what you want about Daniel Levy, but Spurs have never faced FFP or PSR problems, which teams such as Manchester City and Aston Villa are experiencing. There was the one incident involving Jermaine Defoe’s move to Portsmouth in 2008 which could have landed Spurs in hot water, but Levy has largely kept a steady ship at Tottenham.

Without Levy, there is the risk of losing the stability he brought and the timing of his departure is unusual. Tottenham have only recently begun a new season and a switch of chairman could cause some disruption.

However, losing Levy is not all bad, specifically due to three more reasons.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Daniel Levy had a wealth of experience

Some Tottenham supporters may not always have liked what Levy was doing, but at least he knew what he was doing. Levy has always worked towards specific goals and objectives and has carried out a plan he formulated over many years.

Being the chairman of one of the biggest football clubs is not an easy task, but you learn things along the way. Levy had 24 years to build up his knowledge and grow into the role.

Peter Charrington is an experienced businessman, but his career in football only began in March when he was named as the club’s non-executive director. He will now take on the role as non-executive chairman, which has the potential to throw some curveballs, even with his business acumen.

Levy has been a tough negotiator at Spurs

The fact that Levy is a tough negotiator can actually be a bad thing. After all, his adamance of refusing to pay Crystal Palace a little extra money for Eberechi Eze is seemingly one of the main reasons Spurs lost out to Arsenal.

However, Levy had a reputation for playing hardball when it came to selling players. He often helped Tottenham generate more revenue by demanding a high price, but sometimes he took things up a notch.

Spurs do not tend to part ways with players easily, and much of that is to do with Levy. He always held onto Tottenham’s best players for as long as possible. The likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son both left with just one year remaining on their contracts, despite how much interest they attracted in the years leading up to their departures.

Tottenham can mend broken relationships with other clubs

Levy made himself one or two enemies this summer, specifically Steve Parish and Evangelos Marinakis. Spurs raided Nottingham Forest for Brennan Johnson not so long ago, but it is hard to see how any business transactions would have taken place between the clubs after the Gibbs-White incident.

However, with Levy out of the way, Tottenham can improve their relationships with these teams. There is also the club’s legal battle against INEOS which will likely have caused issues with Manchester United. A new chairman might be able to mitigate any damage this has caused.

Spurs can be more ambitious and get supporters onside

Tottenham have often been the masters of their own downfall under Levy. For him, consistency was important, perhaps even more so than absolute success. Spurs finished in the top four for four consecutive seasons under Pochettino and Levy seemed happy working towards maintaining that position, rather than going a step further.

The lack of spending from Spurs in certain transfer windows has been a key cause of frustration for the supporters, but this is not the only thing. Levy has been out of touch with large sections of the fanbase over recent years, from failing to properly support a singing section to scrapping concession tickets and raising prices all around.

Tottenham supporters need to feel like they are getting what they pay for. Spurs without Levy can either show more ambition and give them good value for their money, or accept they are happy not winning titles and adjust ticket prices accordingly.
