Description

Tottenham Hotspur are finding it tough in the early stages of the transfer window, with Brighton now handing them a major blow by swooping for two of the Lilywhites’ transfer targets.

As the Thomas Frank era gets underway at Tottenham Hotspur, one would expect the North Londoners to be busy this summer as they aim to tweak their squad to fit the Dane’s approach.

Some sources have said that Spurs could target as many as five signings this summer in the quest to build a squad that can cope with the rigours of Champions League football.

However, two bright young talents that Tottenham were keen on are now heading to the South Coast, according to a new report.

Striker wanted by Tottenham is now heading to Brighton

It was previously reported Spurs were big admirers of Olympiacos forward Charalampos Kostoulas after the 17-year-old had a breakthrough season in Greek football.

TBR Football have now confirmed that Spurs were indeed keen on landing the highly-rated teenager, while Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Aston Villa also had their eye on him.

However, according to the outlet, Kostoulas is now heading to the Amex Stadium this summer after Brighton struck a £30m deal with Olympiacos.

The versatile forward is now expected to travel to the South Coast for a medical before putting pen to paper on a contract with the Seagulls.

Tottenham miss out on highly-rated Italian centre-back

It had also emerged over recent days that Spurs were scouting Hellas Verona centre-back Diego Coppola at the European U21 Championships.

However, TBR Football say that the 21-year-old, who has been capped twice for the senior Italian side, is now also on his way to Fabian Hurzeler’s side.

According to the outlet, Brighton have agreed terms with Hellas Verona on a £8.5m deal for Coppola, beating Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool to the services of the player, whose stats suggest that he is among the best defenders in his age group across Europe.

Expert believes £4 billion Tottenham Hotspur takeover could happen

Expert believes £4 billion Tottenham Hotspur takeover could happen - Spurs Web
Description

Football finance expert Dan Plumley believes that Tottenham’s decision to move to a new stadium in 2019 could soon pay dividends for Daniel Levy and ENIC.

Over the last 12 months, there have been plenty of rumours doing the rounds regarding a potential sale of Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been rumoured that a group of private investors from Qatar have shown interest in a takeover of Spurs, but much to the consternation of the Tottenham supporters, nothing has materialised so far.

Just last week, one source claimed that Spurs were in talks over selling a minority stake in a deal which values the whole club at £5 billion.

Dan Plumey claims Tottenham owners could soon get a massive payoff

Plumey is in no doubt that Spurs are one of the most highly valued football clubs in the world, explaining that the revenue-earning potential of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium makes them very attractive to investors.

Reacting to a report from Football Benchmark, who ranked Tottenham in their top 10 most valuable clubs in the world, at a value of €3.659bn (£3.12bn), the finance expert insisted that a takeover from Qatar is very much on the cards.

Plumey told Football Insider: “I’ve always said on record over the last few years, and that valuation for Spurs and pushing that into the Football Benchmark top 10 as an example, is purely around stadium income and the upshot of that.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“We’re starting to see the benefits already of that stadium move for Spurs, and we said years ago, what that could bring to them. They are in that bracket. I know they’ve had a poor season on the pitch apart from Europa League success, but they are in that bracket of clubs that would command that kind of valuation in and around £3-4 billion; they’re in that group of clubs.

“And if you look at who else is in that group of clubs, there are not many of those at the minute that are likely to change hands, and there’s certainly not one that you could look at in terms of what a sovereign state might be after.

“So, Qatar and Tottenham always seemed plausible to me, and of course, I think it’s still there in the background from what we’re hearing, and it does put them in that bracket, as I say, of clubs that would command that valuation.

“I think it’s likely that we still see those noises or at the very least, that deal is something that would be attractive to somebody. I stand by the fact that I think Tottenham’s an attractive investment proposition.”

Why a Tottenham takeover might not be around the corner

Tottenham’s value as a club is only going to increase over the next five to 10 years as the club’s stadium debt reduces.

There is thus no reason for Levy and ENIC to accept a low-ball offer right now. Based on the way the Tottenham chairman negotiates, we know that he will likely hold out for a massive offer.

Spurs fans who are expecting a takeover to be completed soon are thus likely to be disappointed. What is far likelier in the short term is a minority investment into Tottenham, with the potential sale of around 10 to 25 per cent of the club.

AC Milan could target two Tottenham stars after 3-hour-long agent meeting - Spurs Web
Description

AC Milan’s director reportedly held a meeting with the agent who represents two Tottenham stars, both of whom are thought to be on the club’s radar this summer.

With Thomas Frank now officially confirmed as Tottenham’s head coach, one would expect the North London club’s summer business to speed up.

Reports indicate that Spurs want to strengthen as many as five positions across the pitch this summer, but there are also expected to be plenty of outgoings.

Now, an update from Italy has revealed that two of Tottenham’s senior players, who featured regularly last season, are now on the radar of a Serie A side.

AC Milan could be plotting a move for two Tottenham stars

Corriere dello Sport and Calciomercato.it are now both crediting Milan with an interest in two Spurs players, who previously used to ply their trade in Italy.

Corriere say that Rossoneri sporting director Igli Tare is looking to make some big moves this summer, and he recently met with agent Gabriele Giuffrida, who represents Radu Dragusin and Guglielmo Vicario.

It is alleged that both players’ names cropped up in the meeting and the Rossoneri subsequently had an internal discussion on how to make approaches for the pair.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Meanwhile, Calciomercato.it claim that the meeting lasted three hours, and assert that Dragusin could specifically appeal to Milan, who are looking to reinforce their backline.

Milan’s chances of signing Radu Dragusin and Guglielmo Vicario

The Italian outlet points out that the Romanian has been on Milan’s radar in the past and suggests that a deal may be possible this summer, given that the former Genoa man is looking for regular game time.

There is also an interest in Vicario, but it is said that he is valued by Tottenham Hotspur at more than €30m (£25.5m).

This ‘significant valuation’ might put the goalkeeper out of the Rossoneri’s reach for the time being, but it is said that the 28-year-old could become an option for them once Mike Maignan departs the San Siro.

Forgotten Tottenham man will get a chance to impress Thomas Frank in pre-season - Spurs Web
Description

It has now emerged that one Tottenham attacker, whose time at Hotspur Way appeared to be drawing to a close, will be given a lifeline to resurrect his Spurs career by Thomas Frank.

Based on Tottenham Hotspur reports over recent days, it appears as if Frank is prioritising adding firepower to his forward line this summer.

Tottenham are pushing ahead with a big-money move for Bryan Mbeumo, while we have also heard several reports that Spurs are doing the groundwork on a deal for Antonie Semenyo.

It was taken for granted by many that Manor Solomon would exit Spurs amidst interest from Leeds United, but it turns out that the Israeli international is far from certain to leave.

Manor Solomon will be handed a chance to impress Thomas Frank

A few days ago, it emerged that despite Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League, Solomon’s preference would be to remain at Tottenham.

Journalist Alex Crook has now taken to social media to reveal that the 25-year-old may get his wish this summer on the back of his impressive showing on loan at Elland Road in the Championship.

Crook says that at the moment, the plan at Spurs is that Solomon will begin pre-season under Frank at Hotspur Way and he may remain at the North London club if he catches the Dane’s eye.

Not all Spurs fans are too happy with Solomon development

The news that Solomon might stay has garnered a mixed response from Spurs fans, with some wanting to see Tottenham upgrade on the former Shakhtar Donetsk man, while others feel he has earned his chance to impress.

However, one can understand why Frank wants to take a closer look at the winger, who seems to have put his injury woes behind him.

Description

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust (THST) have confirmed that they will meet with the club’s new CEO, Vinai Venkatesham, to voice their concerns, and they have asked fans to give their opinion via a survey ahead of the meeting.

A new era is now underway at Tottenham Hotspur, with Thomas Frank bringing his trusted staff with him to Hotspur Way.

Apart from changes to the first-team coaching staff, there have also been changes at board level, with Vinai Venkatesham taking over as the club’s new CEO and becoming Daniel Levy’s right-hand man.

A Tottenham fan group welcomed the appointment and called for transparency on how this will affect Levy’s role, and now THST will be allowed to speak to the new appointee.

THST asks fans share their concerns to be relayed to Vinai Venkatesham

During his time at Arsenal, Venkatesham received praise for his record on fan engagement, and he is now seemingly not wasting any time in trying to establish a relationship with Tottenham supporters.

THST have now revealed that they will meet with the 44-year-old to discuss several issues that fall within their remit.

The Trust has also organised a survey before they meet with Venkatesham so that a broad coalition of supporters can express their concerns, which will be relayed to the new Tottenham CEO.

Spurs fans can participate in THST’s survey by clicking here.

A step in the right direction by Tottenham

There was a feeling among fans that under Daniel Levy, the club have often not been proactive in addressing the concerns of the supporters.

The appointment of Venkatesham is a step towards rectifying that by the club, and it is good to see that the new CEO is making interaction with the fans a priority.

Manchester United select two alternatives in case Tottenham win Bryan Mbeumo race - Spurs Web
Description

A new report has shed light on Manchester United’s firm stance regarding a deal for Bryan Mbeumo, and the update will be music to the ears of Tottenham Hotspur, who have stepped up their interest in the Brentford forward over the last few days.

While Spurs have advanced on a deal for the 25-year-old since Thomas Frank’s appointment a few days ago, it appears that the player still prefers joining Man United.

This was confirmed recently by Ben Jacobs, who said that Spurs are willing to offer a bigger fee than Man United for Mbeumo, with the Red Devils yet to improve on their £45m+£10m offer, which was turned down by the Bees.

It has subsequently even been reported that Tottenham have made a £70m offer for Mbeumo as they aim to reunite the forward with Thomas Frank at Hotspur Way.

Manchester United not willing to overpay for Mbeumo

ESPN have now provided an update which suggests that the Red Devils are unlikely to outbid Spurs for Mbeumo.

The report claims that United CEO Omar Berrada has set a predetermined “price point” for the Brentford man and the Red Devils will refuse to bid more than that for the player.

Interestingly, it is asserted that should the Bees demand more than that price point set by United, Rubem Amorim’s men will move on to other alternatives, including Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bryan Mbeumo, Antoine Semenyo and Eberechi Eze are also wanted by Tottenham

This update is very interesting from a Tottenham viewpoint as both Eze and Semenyo have also been heavily linked with a move to N17.

Some outlets over recent days have said that Spurs have done the most groundwork on a deal to land Semenyo from Bournemouth this summer.

How Tottenham rate their chances of landing Bryan Mbeumo this summer - Spurs Web
Description

Over the last two days, we have heard many contradictory updates regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo, and a new report has now shed light on how the Lilywhites rate their own chances of winning the race for the Brentford forward.

`Spurs fans understandably got excited when it emerged two days ago that Tottenham are willing to outbid Man United for Mbeumo.

In fact, it has even been alleged that Spurs have made a £70m offer for Mbeumo, which is considerably more than what the Red Devils have offered for the 25-year-old.

However, that does not mean that Tottenham are the front-runners to sign the Cameroon international, with Football Insider reporting recently that Man United are still in the driving seat to land Mbeumo.

What the belief at Tottenham is about Bryan Mbeumo deal

However, Miguel Delaney has now said in his newsletter for The Independent, that the feeling at Hotspur Way about the deal is positive, especially after the development of recent days.

He says that following the confirmation of Thomas Frank as their head coach, Tottenham now believe they have a ‘good chance’ of winning the race for the Bees forward.

Delaney wrote: “Manchester United have been looking at Emiliano Martinez, but they would only move for a goalkeeper once a lot of other positions have been sorted first. The club do feel in a better direction, as there looks set to be considerable movement in sales.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“They have just found more competition for main targets. Tottenham’s hiring of Thomas Frank now means they feel they have a good chance of Bryan Mbeumo, given the Brentford connection.”

Thomas Frank is trying to change Mbeumo’s mind

Reports continue to insist that Mbeumo’s preferred destination is Man United rather than Tottenham, even though the Lilywhites are willing to offer a bigger fee to Brentford.

It appears that the key to Spurs’ pursuit is their new head coach, with Florian Plettenberg reporting yesterday that Frank is trying to convince Mbeumo to follow him to Tottenham.

Description

Tottenham’s Mikey Moore was the best player on the pitch for England in their European U19 Championship opener against Norway, producing a masterclass from the number ten role, but he suffered a major injury scare in stoppage time.

Moore had a breakthrough 2024-25 season at Spurs, impressing when opportunities came his way in the first part of the campaign.

The 17-year-old was primarily used as a winger by Ange Postecoglou and he showed plenty of promise, particularly in the Europa League. The youngster was an unused substitute in the final at Bilbao as Tottenham made history by lifting their first European trophy in 41 years.

Moore is expected to be rewarded with a new contract at Spurs, but for the moment, he is focused on winning yet another medal as England look to clinch the U19 Euros title for the third time in their history.

Video: Mikey Moore dominates England’s tournament opener

England boss Will Antwi decided to start the Tottenham Hotspur man as a number ten in their tournament opener against Norway, and the teenager did not disappoint.

Moore was the main creative force for the Young Lions, gliding past Norwegian players with consummate ease whenever he got on the ball.

The Spurs academy graduate stepped up to convert the equaliser from the penalty spot for his side on 80 minutes to salvage a point for England as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

However, the youngster’s outing ended in less than ideal fashion as he seemed to roll his ankle in stoppage time and go down in a heap.

The England medical staff immediately rushed to treat Moore, who stayed down and received treatment, and we are still waiting for confirmation regarding the seriousness of the injury.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur may be forced to look backwards to move forward, as former striker Nicklas Bendtner urges the club to bring back a familiar face to kick-start the Thomas Frank era.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of a managerial replacement for Ange Postecoglou following his sacking on 6 June means they now have to play catch-up in the summer window.

The likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have already bolstered their squads as they prepare for the 2025/26 season.

Meanwhile, Spurs have watched a few of their transfer targets get poached, as they looked to finalise the appointment of Thomas Frank.

The Danish manager has since been named Tottenham head coach and has started working; however, with the summer window expected to open once more on 16 June, the 51-year-old has now received transfer advice from Nicklas Bendtner.

Nicklas Bendtner urges Tottenham to re-sign Christian Eriksen

Speaking to Tipsbladet, Nicklas Bendtner believes that Tottenham should be looking to reunite with 33-year-old Christian Eriksen this summer.

According to Bendtner, Eriksen would be a smart addition for Spurs, particularly after the midfielder’s successful stint under Thomas Frank at Brentford.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 33-year-old, who spent a significant part of his career at Tottenham between 2013 and 2020 before a move to Inter Milan, is expected to be available on a free transfer this summer when his contract with Manchester United expires.

Frank has now been urged to sign the Danish midfielder by the former forward, who believes Eriksen could improve Spurs.

He said: “He could make Tottenham better, and it would be a good reunion. In Brentford, he also succeeded under Thomas, but I am sure that he will find a good club and find what is good for him and his family.”

Christian Eriksen backs Thomas Frank to succeed at Spurs

Of course, the Christian Eriksen had a productive spell under Frank when he joined Brentford in 2022 – a run of form that ultimately secured him a move to Manchester United.

However, when Eriksen was asked if he had received any phone call from Thomas Frank regarding a potential return to Spurs this summer, the midfielder laughed before stating he had not.

The 33-year-old veteran was also quick to back his compatriot to succeed at Spurs following his appointment on 12 June.

How Micky van de Ven could become Thomas Frank’s most important Tottenham star

How Micky van de Ven could become Thomas Frank’s most important Tottenham star - Spurs Web
Description

Micky van de Ven could become the tactical gem Thomas Frank never knew he needed, with the Dutch defender offering more than just raw pace under the new Tottenham regime.

Indeed, change, they say, can be scary, but for Tottenham Hotspur, it has become the usual. I mean, what else could scare a group of fans that have seen the good, the bad and the ugly?

Just a few weeks back, it was all rosy, as Tottenham celebrated their first piece of silverware since they last won a trophy in 2008, and for the ugly, well, trophyless for almost two decades and then going on to axe the very manager who secured silverware – there is nothing more Tottenham than that.

Of course, change is very normal at N17, as they have now appointed 16 managers in the last 24 years, with Thomas Frank the latest on that list, and now, the 52-year-old must get to work, as Tottenham are already playing catch-up in the summer window.

Indeed, one of the tasks for the Danish manager is to ensure Tottenham are competitive, particularly in the Premier League, with a few trophy lifts here and there being demanded.

However, for a manager who has earned praise for his style of management, his ability to mix things up, to go direct, and to press, expectations are high.

For Frank to succeed, every player would need to play for him and the badge, but there is one player who could be very vital to how the manager sets up, and that is Micky van de Ven. Here is why.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Micky van de Ven could be used at left-back and centre-back

The Dutch centre-back who joined Tottenham two seasons ago has since become a vital piece to the way the Lilywhites set up, with his pace allowing for them to press high up the pitch, as seen under Ange Postecoglou.

That very quality would certainly be of use to Thomas Frank, who could utilise the 24-year-old’s pace to help him set up high, when he chooses to press and suffocate teams in advanced areas.

However, another ace the defender has under his sleeve is his versatility and his ability to play both as a left-back and a centre-back in a flat back four.

That quality is set to give Frank a vast variety of tactical setups he could explore during his tenure as Tottenham boss.

Van de Ven is set to give Thomas Frank a plethora of tactical setups

With the defender capable of playing as both a centre-back and a left-back, this will allow Thomas Frank to use him in a flat back four system as one of the centre-backs or in a back three as a left centre-back – a tactical ace Thomas Frank could lean on heavily at Hotspur Way.

In fact, we can also expect Frank to use Van de Ven in a lopsided back four where Pedro Porro pushes higher up the pitch and Van de Ven drops into a three to give Tottenham cover during counterattacks.

This is a setup we never really got to see Ange Postecoglou try out, and it has been gaining traction in the Premier League in recent seasons, with Pep Guardiola deploying a similar system in Manchester City’s treble-winning campaign.

Van de Ven has all the traits needed to excel in this hybrid centre-back role, as he has the recovering pace to contribute in attack and to stop counterattacks.

His passing is also really solid, which will help Tottenham during buildups when they play out from the back.

Spurs need to be solid defensively, following their abysmal league campaign last season, which saw them end on negative goal difference, after conceding 65 goals.

If Frank is looking to ensure some stability and control in games, he could certainly try to adapt and tweak his setup using van de Ven’s ability to change game state when necessary.

Of course, for all of this to work, Van de Ven would need to remain fit and available for Frank to fully utilise his abilities.

If he can stay fit, the amount of flexibility he would give Frank and Spurs is one that could make him a vital player during the Dane’s tenure.
