Description

Heung-min Son is now the main man at Tottenham Hotspur, but Kyle Walker has revealed this was not always the case when the South Korean star first arrived in North London.

It did not take long for Heung-min Son to become a regular starter at Tottenham. Despite competing with the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, and Christian Eriksen, Son’s performances were so strong that Mauricio Pochettino switched his 3-4-3 formation to a 4-2-3-1 to accommodate the Korean international.

The rest is history, as Son has gone from strength to strength. His record at Tottenham speaks for itself. From twice winning the club’s player of the year award, to securing the Premier League golden boot, Son has come a long way since he made the switch from Bayer Leverkusen to Spurs.

However, members of the Tottenham first-team squad would not have known how good the 32-year-old would be, as Kyle Walker has revealed what Son was like when he first joined Spurs.

Kyle Walker reveals close relationship with Heung-min Son at Tottenham

Kyle Walker played alongside Son for two years before departing for Manchester City. While Walker went on to win every trophy on offer to him, Son had to play the long game at Tottenham.

The right-back has revealed how happy he is for Son, with whom he had a close friendship at Tottenham, while also reflecting on how far Son has come since he arrived in North London and took time to adapt to life at Hotspur Way.

Walker told The Kyle Walker podcast: “I remember him walking through the door from Leverkusen and it was like a rabbit in headlights. You know, there were big characters back then.

“But we just clicked, there was something between me and him and we just clicked. We had a proper good laugh, me, him, Dele, and Kevin Wimmer were just really close.

“It was just nice personally for him, after all that time, getting to all those finals, being that nearly person, but then to finally do it.”

Walker and Son are both in the tail ends of their careers

Walker has spent the past few months on loan at AC Milan and most recently, he started in England’s 3-1 defeat to Senegal, leaving supporters to question his involvement in Thomas Tuchel’s squad. He has had a brilliant career, but there is no doubt the 35-year-old has already played his best football.

Son is a couple of years younger than Walker, but he could also take a step down in the near future. According to a report, Heung-min Son is more open to a Tottenham exit than ever before.

The Spurs captain finally achieved his dream of winning a trophy at Spurs and he could be up for a new challenge in the near future.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur face a crucial summer transfer window, but there is one huge factor working to their advantage, which ensures that Thomas Frank and the club’s recruitment team will see eye-to-eye regarding their transfer priorities.

While Spurs fans would be sick of the word ‘rebuild’, given how many times they have seen it over the last six years, that is exactly what is in store this summer in N17.

The club are set to begin a new era under Frank, who will want to put his imprint on the squad that he inherited from Ange Postecoglou.

According to various reports, Tottenham are expected to make as many as five signings this window, while several players are also expected to head out of the door in what could be another summer of massive change.

Why Thomas Frank may get what he wants this summer

At times in the past at Tottenham, there has been a feeling that the players signed by the club are not always the ones that the managers have asked for.

The most famous example is that of Antonio Conte publicly admitting that Djed Spence was “a club signing” soon after the full-back arrived at Spurs.

However, if BBC Sport are to be believed, that is not expected to happen this summer due to Frank’s existing relationship with a senior Spurs figure.

The outlet says that one of the reasons Daniel Levy was attracted to the former Brentford coach is because of his long-standing relationship with Tottenham’s technical director, Johan Lange.

The report claims that Lange and Frank hold a very similar view in terms of the profile of players needed to take Spurs forward.

One source inside the club is quoted as saying, “There’s a synergy there” between the pair, which bodes well for the Lilywhites in what will be a crucial transfer window.

Tottenham are already taking steps to give Frank the players he wants

It was reported earlier this week that Frank had urged Tottenham to hijack Man United’s deal for Bryan Mbeumo.

It looks like the North Londoners are wasting no time in trying to make the Dane’s wishes come true if reports over the past 24 hours are to be believed.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have wasted no time backing new head coach Thomas Frank, with the club confirming their first signing of the summer as the Dane begins to shape his squad.

Tottenham Hotspur’s focus over the past few days has been on securing a replacement for Ange Postecoglou, following his departure on Friday, 6 June.

Spurs have since secured the services of former Brentford manager Thomas Frank on a three-year deal, which should now see their attention turn to matters on the pitch, as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The Danish manager has already begun work and has now wrapped up his first signing of the summer window for the north London club.

Tottenham sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich for £29.6m

On their official website, Tottenham Hotspur have announced that they have completed the signing of French youngster Mathys Tel, following his winter loan move back in January.

An initial fee of £45 million was included as an option to buy the winger permanently, but Spurs have instead negotiated a cut-price deal for the player.

It is reported that Tel has joined Tottenham for £29.6 million from Bayern Munich on a long-term deal that is expected to keep the 20-year-old at Hotspur Way for six years.

Spurs transfer plans continue with Thomas Frank at the helm

Tel now joins Kevin Danso as Spurs’ second signing of the summer window, after it was announced earlier this month that Spurs have paid the £21 million obligation-to-buy fee for Danso.

The Lilywhites’ business is not expected to stop here, as reports continue to link them with other transfer targets, including Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford, who is coming off his best season yet in the Premier League after scoring 20 goals last campaign.

It is reported that Spurs have submitted a £70 million bid for Mbeumo, but they still have to rival Manchester United for the player’s signature, with reports stating that Mbeumo has greenlit a move to Old Trafford.

Description

We now know exactly who Thomas Frank will be up against in his first few games as Tottenham head coach, with the Dane handed a fascinating run of fixtures that should offer early insight into his reign.

Thomas Frank is now Tottenham boss following his appointment back on Thursday, 12 July, and he is set to be accompanied by four members of his backroom staff, including Justin Cochrane, who has previously worked at Spurs.

The coming few months are set to be busy for the new Tottenham head coach, who is expected to be occupied with transfer planning and contract talks with a few of the current Spurs players.

In fact, we have already outlined five key tasks that Thomas Frank is expected to tackle straight away as he begins his work in North London.

Thomas Frank’s first five Tottenham fixtures confirmed

Pre-season preparations are very much on the agenda as well, and just yesterday, Tottenham confirmed Frank’s first match as Spurs boss, with a fixture against Luton Town scheduled for Saturday, 26 July at Kenilworth Road, kicking off at 3 pm.

We have now compiled a list of the first five matches for the new Tottenham manager between now and the start of the season, with several pre-season games and a major cup final on the horizon.

Following the Luton Town clash, Spurs will head to Asia for their pre-season tour, where they will take on Arsenal on 31 July in Hong Kong, marking the first-ever north London derby played outside of England.

MORE SPURS STORIES

After the Arsenal fixture, Tottenham will face Newcastle United on 3 August in another Asian tour game, before then playing Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on 7 August in the Telekom Cup.

Frank’s most significant early test will arrive on 13 August, when Tottenham take on Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup final, with the match set to be played in Udine, Italy.

Spurs fans optimistic as Thomas Frank era begins

Of course, it promises to be an exciting few months ahead for the Tottenham faithful, who will be hoping that the Danish manager can improve this group of players who struggled last season in the Premier League, after they managed to finish in 17th place.

Frank will also need to make a few key signings this summer, as the Tottenham squad requires strengthening, with reports indicating that the defence, midfield and attack could all be bolstered.

Tottenham ‘agree basics’ of a deal to sign standout Euro U21 Championship starlet - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly completed the basics of a deal to sign a young Italian starlet who has been making waves in Serie A.

Thomas Frank will have his work cut out as Tottenham boss as he begins work at Hotspur Way, and his first order of business would be to oversee a mini-rebuild as he aims to get the club back up the Premier League table.

The Dane has an excellent record of working with and developing young players, which is perhaps the reason why the Lilywhites decided to appoint him as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement.

Over recent days, we have heard that Tottenham have been scouting several youngsters in the European U21 Championship, including Roma midfielder Niccolo Pisilli, and some big news has now broken regarding their pursuit of the 20-year-old.

Tottenham agree basics of a deal to sign Niccolo Pisilli

Journalist Sebastien Vidal has now taken to social media to reveal that Spurs have now struck the basics of an agreement with AS Roma for the potential transfer of Pisilli.

The youngster has been one of the brightest young talents on show in Serie A lately and was even rewarded with his first cap for the senior Italian side in their 2-2 draw with Belgium last year.

Vidal says that landing Pisilli is part of Tottenham’s strategy to recruit young talent and adds that the final details of the agreement will be hashed out at the end of the U21 Euros.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He wrote: ‘Tottenham have finalised the basics of a deal for Niccolo Pisilli. The young AS Roma midfielder, a rising star in Serie A and a standout at the U21 Euros, is targeted by the Spurs as part of their strategy to recruit young talents. Deal to watch after the tournament…’

Tottenham fans are frustrated with the club’s transfer strategy

With the Lilywhites securing Champions League qualification, fans would have hoped to see the club’s transfer policy change this summer.

Many Spurs supporters have demanded that the club sign proven performers rather than talented youngsters, like they have been over the past few years.

However, the Tottenham recruitment team will argue that it is not an either/or, and point out that the club’s acquisition of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Luka Vuskovic have proven to be masterstrokes.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have foiled an attempt by a club to sign one of their young guns on loan, and the Lilywhites have made it clear the conditions under which they will let the player leave this summer.

While there has been a lot said and written about the potential incomings at Tottenham this summer under Thomas Frank, there are also expected to be a few exits from the club as the Dane puts his imprint on the squad.

Frank reportedly wants to add more firepower to his forward line, and that means that some of the Spurs forwards may be sacrificed.

It has been reported that Richarlison could be on his way out of Tottenham this summer, but another South American striker could also follow the Brazilian out of the door.

Tottenham turn down loan offer for Alejo Veliz

Alejo Veliz has not fared well since his move to Europe two years ago, with the Tottenham Hotspur forward struggling for regular game time during his loan spells at Sevilla and Espanyol.

The Lilywhites are thus faced with a big decision on the 21-year-old and it has emerged over recent days that Rosaria Central want to re-sign Veliz from Spurs.

However, journalist Uriel Iugt has now taken to social media to reveal that Rosaria’s attempts to land Veliz on loan have been foiled.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He claims that the Argentine club made a loan offer for the Tottenham man, which was turned down by the North London club, who made it clear that they would only entertain a permanent sale.

Veliz is also wanted by two other Argentine clubs

Rosaria are not the only ones chasing the forward, with reports indicating that Boca Juniors and River Plate are also keen on landing Veliz.

In fact, it has been alleged that both Boca and River have contacted the Spurs striker’s representatives to speak about a potential return to his home country.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to make moves in key areas across the pitch ahead of Thomas Frank’s first season in charge, but they are currently unaware if they will need a replacement for Cristian Romero after putting a huge price tag on the centre-back.

Since Frank’s appointment was confirmed two days ago, it appears that Tottenham Hotspur are wasting no time in pushing ahead with moves for their transfer targets.

Over the last 24 hours, we have heard that Spurs have submitted a big-money offer for Bryan Mbeumo, with the Lilywhites battling Man United for the Brentford man’s services.

It would appear that the North Londoners’ priority is to strengthen their attack, as we have also seen reports that Tottenham have signalled their intent to move for Antonio Semenyo.

No club has shown a willingness to meet Tottenham’s asking price for Cristian Romero

BBC Sport have now said that Spurs are currently prioritising adding experience in central midfield and central defence ahead of their first season under Frank.

It is explained that their interest in signing a centre-back is directly tied to the doubts over Romero’s future, with Atletico Madrid still circling over the Argentine.

However, interestingly, it is alleged that Tottenham want a whopping £70m for the 27-year-old even though he has only two years left on his contract.

MORE SPURS STORIES

So far, no club has signalled an intention to meet Spurs’ asking price for the World Cup winner, according to this latest update.

Tottenham may face a tricky decision regarding Cristian Romero

According to reports over recent weeks, Tottenham have not given up hope of tying Romero to a new contract.

However, with Romero sending a cryptic message about his unhappiness at the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou, it remains to be seen if the centre-back will agree to a contract extension.

If he refuses to do so, Spurs will be faced with a difficult choice and might be forced to bring down their asking price for the former Juventus man.

According to reports, Atletico Madrid are expected to push ahead with a move for Romero, who is thought to be keen on linking up with Diego Simeone at the Spanish capital.

Romero sent a cryptic message signalling his unhappiness a few days ago, with the centre-back waiting until Tottenham hired Thomas Frank to praise his predecessor, Ange Postecoglou.

According to reports, Tottenham have not given up hope of tying Romero to a new contract this summer.

It has been suggested that Spurs hope that Champions League football and a significant pay rise would convince Romero to stay at the club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about Romero’s future, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “Quiet situation now, I think Spurs will really try their best to keep him at least for this season.”

One senior Tottenham star, who started the Europa League final in Bilbao, is likely to be sold by the club this summer ahead of the new era under Thomas Frank.

The Danish coach will be an extremely busy man this summer as he has several issues to iron out before his first season in charge of Tottenham Hotspur.

The future of the Tottenham captain is still up in the air, with Heung-min Son set to meet with Frank before deciding whether to leave Spurs.

There is also a big question mark over the club’s vice-captain and star centre-back, with Cristian Romero potentially on his way out of Tottenham.

Tottenham likely to cash in on Richarlison this summer

The Mirror have now claimed that while Frank will be given money to spend, he will also oversee a few player sales this summer as he looks to rebuild the squad.

One of those for whom the Dane is likely to green light an exit is Richarlison, with the club feeling that he has failed to live up to expectations in the three seasons since his £60m move from Everton.
