Thomas Frank has shed light on the Tottenham hierarchy’s efforts to bring new players through the door in the final two weeks of the transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur have made four signings so far this summer, but it is clear, based on various reports, that they are not done just yet.

The club appear to be focused on reinforcing their attack, with several sources claiming over recent days that Spurs are working on deals for Savinho and Eberechi Eze.

Frank is not one to comment on Tottenham’s transfer targets, but he has made an admission about the work that is underway to bring more players through the door.

Thomas Frank says Daniel Levy is working very hard to make Tottenham signings

Many Tottenham fans are frustrated that the club have once again left it until late in the window to address key holes in the squad, but Frank insists that he is happy with the options he has going into the new season.

The Tottenham head coach admitted that everyone at the club would like to do deals early, but insisted that it is not always possible.

When asked about the makeup of the squad and potential incomings, Frank said (via Tottenham’s official website): “I’m very happy with the squad. We have a lot of good players, as you saw the other day.

“I know Daniel [Levy], Johan, and Vinai are working night and day – and I know that for sure. They like to do deals early, but we know that is not always so easy.”

Tottenham have money to spend over the next two weeks

It was reported by BBC Sport earlier this week that Tottenham have plenty of money to spend due to a cash injection by ENIC.

The same update revealed that Frank is having a major say in Spurs’ transfer business so far this summer.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham just took a major step toward Eberechi Eze deal - Spurs Web
Description

Fabrizio Romano has delivered a fresh update on Eberechi Eze’s future, as Tottenham and Crystal Palace continue to hold talks.

Given how long Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Eberechi Eze, supporters of the north London side will be hopeful that a deal can finally be struck for the Palace talisman.

Eze was a standout performer last season, building on his previous campaigns with 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances for the Eagles.

Beyond the numbers, the midfielder etched his name into Palace folklore by playing a vital role in guiding the club to their first-ever major trophy, lifting the FA Cup in what was a historic achievement for the South London outfit.

Tottenham’s interest in the Palace man, which had seemed to cool earlier in the summer, has now gathered pace once again in the past few days. Respected transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has now provided yet another update on the future of Eze.

According to Romano, it is understood that Eberechi Eze informed Crystal Palace earlier this week of his desire to join Tottenham.

Talks are said to be progressing, with the player reported to be convinced by Spurs’ project and is ready to make the move this month.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, Romano also made clear that nothing has been finalised yet, and while Eze is pushing for a switch to north London, negotiations are still ongoing as the transfer window edges towards its conclusion.

Eze agrees on personal terms with Spurs

Romano has also gone on to reveal that while both clubs are working on finalising a deal, Eze has now agreed on personal terms with Tottenham, with an agreement having been reached since last week.

The Premier League season is already underway, and Crystal Palace are set to face Chelsea in their league opener on Sunday.

Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Eberechi Eze has trained with the Palace squad this week, yet fresh reports suggest that a major clue regarding his future could emerge tomorrow.

Five things we learned from Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Burnley as Richarlison nets a brace - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur left their Super Cup heartbreak in the rear-view mirror this afternoon as they put three goals past Burnley without reply in the Premier League.

Let’s take a look at the five things we learned from Tottenham 3-0 Burnley:

Tottenham practice for the Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur need to get used to playing huge games in midweek before getting the job done in the Premier League at the weekend this season. And what better way to do that than playing against the best team in Europe – PSG – just three days before a Premier League opener? Spurs could face even tougher challenges in the future too, with Burnley at home being a pretty preferable fixture to face off the back of a European away trip. For Frank and co, it’s all about balancing fitness and form, and getting the best out of the full squad, rather than just the first-choice XI. This week, they got it spot on and got the job done.

Thomas Frank rings the Tottenham changes

We are only one game into the Premier League season and Thomas Frank has already shown that he isn’t afraid to make changes when needed. With Tottenham only having a few days’ rest after their flight back from Udine, the new Spurs boss decided to name a few of his first-team stars on the bench.

Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur, who covered every blade of grass between them in the Super Cup, were handed a well-deserved breather. Kevin Danso dropped to the bench, with Frank preferring a 4-3-3 rather than a 3-5-2 this time around. Brennan Johnson also came into attack to take some of the pressing and running burden from the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison.

While Ange Postecoglou rarely liked to deviate from his tried-and-tested methods, it seems Frank is more than happy to adapt his formation and starting XI to each individual challenge.

Dominic Solanke has real competition from Richarlison

Richarlison has been injured so often for Tottenham Hotspur, fans have forgotten to look at him as any more than a Dominic Solanke backup. However, Thomas Frank has been singing the praises of Richarlison all summer long, and with Solanke still not ready to start, the Brazilian impressed once again this afternoon.

MORE SPURS STORIES

After working his socks off to lead the line in his trademark nuisance fashion against PSG, Richy also showed his goalscoring prowess against Burnley. The Spurs striker dispatched a tricky chance in the first half, getting his hip over the ball to guide a Kudus cross into the far corner on the volley. Fast forward to the second half and Richarlison one-upped himself with an acrobatic bicycle kick, once again from a Kudus cross. World-class goalscoring. If they can keep him fit, Tottenham may have a genuine number 9 battle over the coming weeks.

Tottenham are going to score plenty of goals this season

It’s easy to get ahead of yourself after a home win against newly-promoted Burnley, but I think it is safe to say that Tottenham Hotspur will score goals this season. Thomas Frank has already shown how direct he wants his Spurs side to play, with plenty of balls in behind and early crosses into the box.

Richarlison already has a brace. Brennan Johnson, who need I remind you didn’t even get a kick against PSG, has opened his account. Dominic Solanke is back, fit and ready. Mohammed Kudus has two assists to his name and looks consistently dangerous. Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert offer young, pacy, direct options off the bench.

Not to mention the fact that Spurs could still sign Eberechi Eze and Savinho AND they have James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski to come back into the side in the future. Spurs are scoring goals without a creative spark in the number 10 – they should only improve once they nail that down.

Tottenham player ratings from 3-0 win over Burnley as one star hits a 9/10 - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur began their Premier League campaign with an emphatic 3-0 victory against newly promoted Burnley, and our player ratings are in.

Tottenham player ratings vs Burnley

Guglielmo Vicario – A first clean sheet of the Premier League season for the Tottenham goalkeeper. It was not entirely straightforward, as he was called upon to make a couple of important saves to preserve it. 7.

Pedro Porro – A performance the full-back can certainly be proud of. He kept his winger quiet and also brought much-needed creativity from deep areas. 8.

Cristian Romero – Aggressive in the first half when contesting both aerial and ground duels. His passing was progressive throughout, and it was his forward ball that sparked the build-up for Tottenham’s third goal. 7.

Micky Van de Ven – Had a few opportunities from set pieces in the second half but could not find the net with any of them. Nonetheless, it was a very solid display from the Dutchman. 8.

Djed Spence – Endured a few nervy moments on his side of the pitch, with Burnley managing to get in behind on occasion, but ultimately it caused no lasting damage. 8.

Archie Gray – Tireless in his running, always chasing down loose balls and pressing aggressively. His best chance came in the first half when he forced a point-blank save. 7.5.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Lucas Bergvall – The Swedish international was not tired of running, as he looked to chase every ball. His best chance did come in the first half, where he drew a save from point-blank range. 8.

Mohammed Kudus – The Ghana international continues to play with great confidence and is forging an impressive partnership with Porro down the right. A constant creative spark, his delivery from wide areas was excellent, and he was rewarded with two fine assists. 8.5.

Pape Matar Sarr – Another strong showing in midfield. Pressed intelligently, pinched possession several times and capped off his display with a perfectly weighted pass to set up Johnson’s goal. 8.

Brennan Johnson – Involved early in the second half when his cut-back found Richarlison, only for the shot to be blocked. Tottenham’s top scorer came alive in the 66th minute, slipped through by Sarr, and finished coolly into the bottom corner. 7.5.

Richarlison – It was a complete centre-forward display from Richarlison in the first half, with the Brazilian not only finding the back of the net but also linking play well. His excellent performance continued after the restart, with two quick-fire chances that he was unable to convert. However, on the hour mark, he made it two with a stunning overhead kick to cap off a superb display. 9.

Substitutes

Dominic Solanke – Came on in place of Richarlison, had a sniff at goal, but pulled his shot wide. 6.

Rodrigo Bentancur – The Uruguayan came on for Archie Gray and kept things ticking down in midfield. 6.

Mathys Tel – The young Frenchman replaced Mohammed Kudus and was greeted with a warm welcome from Tottenham fans, after his penalty miss that saw him get racially abused. N/A.

Wilson Odobert – The young wide man replaced Brennan Johnson.

Description

The half-time whistle has blown between Tottenham and Burnley in Thomas Frank’s Premier League opener as Spurs boss, and the player ratings are in.

Tottenham half-time player ratings vs Burnley

Guglielmo Vicario – No real threats on his goal so far, meaning the Italian has not been called into action too often. Comfortable playing out from the back and assured whenever involved. Struggled to deal with one spinning, deflected shot and could only palm it behind. 6.

Pedro Porro – Still conservative as a full-back in this tie, preferring to create from deep with crosses rather than bombing forward. 7.

Cristian Romero – Spurs have held a high line, and their captain has relished it, aggressive in the tackle both on the ground and in the air. Gave the ball away a fair few times and walked the tightrope of a yellow card. 6.

Micky Van de Ven – Looks sharp and ready to accelerate when called upon. Was quick to prevent Lye Foster from going through on goal with his pace late on in the first-half. 7.

Djed Spence – The one tucking in closest to the Tottenham centre-backs during build-up, allowing Spurs to progress the ball smoothly. Yet to offer much in attack. 7.

Archie Gray – Sitting deepest in midfield, he hasn’t put a foot wrong so far. Shielded the back four, nipped in with interceptions and kept play ticking from deep. 7.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Lucas Bergvall – Bright start. Involved straight away, controlling neatly in the box before firing at Dubravka inside the opening minute. Energetic and tidy on the ball for Tottenham. 7.

Mohammed Kudus – Spurs’ most dangerous outlet in the first half. Beat his man on the wing and delivered a superb cross for Richarlison’s opener. Creative and sharp. 8.

Pape Matar Sarr – Operating in a deeper role, focused on regaining possession in midfield. Disciplined and effective in breaking up play for Tottenham. 7.

Brennan Johnson – Saw little of the ball with Spurs’ attacks largely down the opposite flank. Worked hard off it, but struggled to make an impact going forward. 6.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur kick off their Premier League campaign this afternoon with a home fixture against Burnley.

Thomas Frank will be looking for his side to put the midweek disappointment behind them after Tottenham lost to PSG in the UEFA Cup final, having conceded two late goals and ultimately lost the penalty shoot-out.

Burnley, managed by former Spurs midfielder Scott Parker, will be looking to capitalise on any tired legs in the home side following their European exploits.

Tottenham fans will be expecting the Dane to hit the ground running in a Premier League match where the home side are expected to take all three points.

How Tottenham line up against Burnley

Frank had some decisions to make on whether to change his starting XI after the likes of Brennan Johnson did not feature.

Dominic Solanke came off the bench for the last 18 minutes in Udine, but having missed all of pre-season due to injury, did not have the same impact as the industrious Richarlison.

Dragusin, Udogie, Takai, Maddison, and Kulusevski all miss out once again due to injury.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This is the Spurs team which takes to the field at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today:

As expected, new club captain Cristian Romero leads out the side in N17 for the first time since being confirmed as the successor to Heung-min Son.

Tottenham Hotspur: Vicario, Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Gray, Bergvall; Kudus, Sarr, Johnson; Richarlison.

Subs: Kinsky, Danso, Palhinha, Tel, Vuskovic, Solanke, Odobert, Bentancur, Davies.

For those wondering how to watch Tottenham vs Burnley in the Premier League, unfortunately, the match will not be televised live in the UK.

Tottenham face some tough upcoming fixtures

Following today’s game, Tottenham will travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City next weekend. While Spurs have enjoyed decent success at City’s home in recent years, they simply cannot afford to go into the match without a win.

Bournemouth showed last night against Liverpool that they are capable of causing plenty of problems, and consecutive away fixtures at West Ham and Brighton are never easy.

Eberechi Eze is about to drop a big hint that he is ‘close’ to a Tottenham transfer

Eberechi Eze is about to drop a big hint that he is ‘close’ to a Tottenham transfer - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham are pushing for Eberechi Eze, with the latest developments hinting that the Crystal Palace winger could be on his way to N17 soon.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze has not cooled as the final weeks of the transfer window approach, with the club determined to land their top creative target.

Negotiations with Crystal Palace are understood to be progressing, and Spurs are only a few million pounds away from meeting the valuation set by the south London club.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner was asked about the future of Eze in his pre-match press conference ahead of their clash with Chelsea, but the Austrian tactician offered little on the subject.

He stressed that Eze had trained with the squad, yet avoided going into detail on whether the midfielder would remain at Selhurst Park beyond the window.

Tottenham closing in on Eberechi Eze transfer

Tom Barclay, in a report on X, has now revealed that Eberechi Eze is expected not to be involved when Crystal Palace take on Chelsea tomorrow.

The journalist explained that Eze himself expects not to play, with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur edging closer this week.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Sun reporter further stated that, as far as he understands, no deal has been agreed yet, but Spurs are pushing for one, particularly as they need a new number ten following the injury to James Maddison.

He also noted that once Ethan Nwaneri signed his new deal, Arsenal cooled their interest, making a move to the Emirates appear less likely now.

Eze did play for Palace last week in their Community Shield clash with Liverpool, but the suggestion that he could be left out of the squad for Sunday’s Premier League fixture raises serious questions.

If there is no injury concern, then his absence would only add to the belief that a transfer is moving towards completion.

Thomas Frank’s search for a Spurs number ten continues

Tottenham have been in search of added creativity throughout the summer, and landing Eberechi Eze would represent a major coup for Thomas Frank as he continues to reshape the squad in his first transfer window in charge.

Patience will be required from Tottenham to finally secure the signing of their long-term target, yet with Eze believed to be open to making the move to north London, convincing the player personally should not prove difficult.

If the Palace midfielder does complete a transfer to Spurs this summer, it would draw a line under a saga that has dragged on across multiple windows, with Tottenham’s interest stretching back years.

Harry Redknapp predicts Tottenham vs Burnley score for Premier League opener

Harry Redknapp predicts Tottenham vs Burnley score for Premier League opener - Spurs Web
Description

Harry Redknapp has shared his Premier League score prediction for Tottenham Hotspur’s opening match of the 2025/26 season against Burnley.

The 2025/26 season is set to kick off for Tottenham Hotspur on this afternoon with a clash against newly promoted Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It is for sure a less demanding task compared to Spurs’ last two clashes, where they faced Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, matches they both lost.

Regardless, Burnley, only just promoted from the Championship after reaching 100 points and conceding just 16 goals, would be looking to cause an upset against a Tottenham side seeking redemption after an abysmal 24/25 campaign where they finished 17th.

Harry Redknapp is backing Spurs to beat Burnley

Speaking ahead of the clash against the Lancashire side, Harry Redknapp has now offered his score prediction.

In an interview with BetVictor, Redknapp reflected on Tottenham’s recent performance and spoke positively about some of their summer additions, before predicting a Spurs win on the opening day of the new season.

He said: “Oh, I was gutted for Spurs the other night; they were so close to such a great win. Nonetheless Thomas Frank has to take so many positives from the game. Palhinha looks a great signing in midfield, and I thought Kudus was very bright.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“This could be a long season for Burnley and Scott Parker. They did so well to get back up, but they have not really spent a lot in the summer, and I just think the gap between the divisions is so big nowadays.

“An easy home win. Spurs 3-0 Burnley.”

Redknapp also highlighted one player he feels could be key for Spurs this season. He said: “No Maddison for most of the season is a huge blow for the team and for the lad himself, I was gutted for him. Kudus has come in though and I think he could be a very, very good addition.”

Tottenham injury news ahead of Burnley clash

Thomas Frank has since provided a somewhat positive injury update ahead of the clash against Burnley, as Tottenham do not have any fresh injury concerns.

Every player is available for selection, except for Destiny Udogie, who is still working his way back to full fitness.

Predicting Tottenham’s opening five Premier League fixtures – including player reunions

Predicting Tottenham’s opening five Premier League fixtures – including player reunions - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are just one day away from getting their new Premier League campaign underway and they will be looking to bounce back after a devastating defeat in the UEFA Super Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur have already begun their season and there is plenty to be positive about. A spirited display on Wednesday night left Spurs just minutes away from lifting the UEFA Super Cup. However, PSG fought back and secured the victory, highlighting a lack of depth in the Tottenham first-team squad.

Pre-season has been a mixed bag for Thomas Frank’s men. The 1-0 North London derby victory over Arsenal was a notable highlight, but a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich, as well as draws against Wycombe Wanderers and Luton Town, left much to be desired.

On top of this, Tottenham’s lack of urgency in the transfer window has been a cause of frustration amongst the fanbase. Mohammed Kudus is already looking like quite the signing, but he is the only player Spurs have really spent big on.

With both the positives and negatives taken into consideration, here is a prediction of how Tottenham will fare in their opening five Premier League matches:

Tottenham should have no problems against Burnley

Spurs open their league campaign against newcomers Burnley and Scott Parker did a tremendous job at Turf Moor last season. His team smashed defensive records in the Championship and quite comfortably achieved promotion in the end.

The Clarets have not hesitated to strengthen ahead of the new season, signing Armando Broja and Lesley Ugochukwu from Chelsea. They have also bagged former Lilywhite Marcus Edwards and brought Kyle Walker in on loan.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, making the step up to the Premier League is often a task too tough for many Championship clubs. After the level Tottenham played at against PSG, a home clash against Burnley should not be causing any issues.

Tottenham to win 3-0

Spurs may taste defeat for the second time under Thomas Frank against Manchester City

Tottenham twice got the better of Manchester City last season, but it was Pep Guardiola’s side who came out on top last time out, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Cityzens were underwhelming on the whole, finishing third in the Premier League table, but they still registered 33 points more than Spurs. Despite bidding farewell to a club legend in Kevin De Bruyne, new players have been brought in, meaning their squad looks stronger than it did before the transfer window opened.

Tottenham did stun Man City with a 4-0 victory at the Etihad last season, but Frank is still figuring out how he wants to set his team up. His team certainly have a chance, but could fall just short on August 23.

Man City to win 2-1

Tottenham will have to work hard against Bournemouth

Tottenham have not beaten Bournemouth since December 2023 and that is not solely down to themselves. The Cherries had a strong Premier League campaign, but fell away towards the end of the season, resulting in a ninth place finish.

A second half comeback was required last time the two sides met, as Spurs rescued a 2-2 draw thanks to a Heung-min Son penalty.

This time around, Tottenham ought to be sealing the victory. Frank had a pretty good home record at Brentford and hopefully he can get results at his new place of business.

Tottenham to win 3-1

Mohammed Kudus could haunt his former club

Spurs hammered West Ham United 4-1 last season and while the away fixture ended in a 1-1 draw, Ange Postecoglou was prioritising the Europa League by that point.

Tottenham’s London rivals have made five signings this summer, three of whom are defensive players. However Spurs have already showcased their ability to score goals under Frank, even when they have very few attacking minded players on the pitch. It was Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven who broke down the PSG defence, so there are goal threats all over the pitch.

Then there is Kudus, a player who will be motivated to show up against West Ham. The London Stadium will give him a cold reception, but he looks like the kind of player who will not be fazed by a hostile atmosphere. It would be superb if he were to bag his first competitive goal for Tottenham against his former employers.

Tottenham to win 3-2

Victory may be a step too far for Tottenham against Brighton

Spurs will play a second consecutive away game when they travel to the south coast on September 20.

Brighton are their opponents that day and despite narrowly missing out on European football, the Seagulls are a very good team. They subjected Spurs to a 4-1 battering on the final day of the most recent Premier League season, days after that night in Bilbao.

There is a difference, however, between playing a throwaway dead rubber and a game that actually matters. Frank will adapt to give Tottenham the best possible chance of getting a result on the road and his team may just do enough to pick up a point from a difficult fixture.

Tottenham to draw 1-1 with Brighton

Every Spurs supporter will be backing Frank to exceed expectations and get off to an electric start, but he must take it one day at a time. For now, the priority is welcoming Burnley to the Premier League with a beating they will not forget anytime soon.

Supercomputer predicts concerning Premier League finish for Tottenham under Thomas Frank - Spurs Web
Description

Opta’s bold prediction ahead of the 25/26 Premier League season is sure to leave Tottenham fans concerned ahead of the new campaign.

Every side in the English top division aims for a strong Premier League campaign, one where they are challenging towards the top end of the table and competing for European places.

Last season, Tottenham Hotspur endured a miserable league campaign, finishing in a disappointing 17th place after losing 22 matches and ending with a negative goal difference.

That dismal run ultimately brought the Ange Postecoglou era to a close, despite the Australian delivering the club’s long-awaited silverware with a Europa League triumph.

Opta forecasts Tottenham to struggle under Thomas Frank

According to Opta’s supercomputer model, which has simulated the Premier League campaign multiple times, Spurs are forecasted to have yet another poor Premier League season.

The Lilywhites, who are set to begin a new chapter under former Brentford boss Thomas Frank, are predicted to finish in the bottom half of the league, in 14th place, collecting an estimated 47.92 points.

Frank, of course, will be eager to guide Tottenham to a strong showing in the top flight, yet Opta’s latest prediction suggests a far less encouraging outcome.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Poor projections could pile pressure on Frank

A modest improvement from 17th to 14th would scarcely meet Tottenham’s standards, particularly when measured against the club’s lofty ambitions and stated objectives.

Daniel Levy wants Tottenham to win the Premier League and the Champions League. Should Frank end the campaign in 14th place, such an outcome would inevitably prompt intense scrutiny.
