Ben Davies makes an honest admission about his future at Tottenham Hotspur - Spurs Web
Description

Ben Davies is focused on helping Tottenham Hotspur this season, but the Welshman is not ruling out leaving the club.

The former Swansea man has now been at the club for 11 years, and some fans expected him to leave this summer, but instead, Davies has signed a one-year contract extension at Tottenham.

That is perhaps a sign that Thomas Frank and his coaching staff value the 32-year-old’s experience and his tactical profile.

Davies is no longer a regular in the Tottenham starting eleven as he was under the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, but he proved his value to the squad last season under Ange Postecoglou during the club’s injury crisis.

Ben Davies leaves door open to Tottenham exit

Davies was rumoured to be a target for Leeds United earlier this summer, but the speculation over his future has died down over the last month.

However, it has been reported over recent weeks that Tottenham are in the market for a new left-back, which could perhaps influence the defender’s future.

The experienced Spurs star insisted that he remains focused on the North London club, but admitted that he is open to a move if an interesting opportunity arises.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about his future, Davies told Football.London: “My focus is now on how I can help this club this year, and if something changes, I’m sure I will be picking up that phone call, but right now I don’t see anything else.”

Davies admits a big monkey is now off his back

Whatever happens, Davies will be leaving Spurs as a European champion, having secured his status in Tottenham’s history by being part of the squad that finally broke the trophy drought.

The 32-year-old admits that he was relieved to finally get that monkey off his back, having been part of several Spurs teams that fell at the final hurdle.

On lifting the Europa League trophy, the Wales international said: “It was relief more than anything. We have been there a few times. I’ve played a lot of games for this club. It got to the point where it was that longing and desire, that desperation.

“We just wanted to win something, no matter what it was. We have come close, we have fought, we have lost games where we could have won and been in better situations. When that final whistle went, it was just relief and happiness that we knew we were going into a new season as champions of a European competition. It was a special memory.”

Thomas Frank admits one Tottenham youngster really ‘stood out’ against Newcastle - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has singled out a Tottenham teenager for praise for his impressive display in his side’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle United in Seoul.

While the narrative ahead of and after the game revolved around the fact that it was Heung-min Son’s final game in a Tottenham shirt, it was another important 90 minutes of football for Frank to assess his squad as the season draws closer.

The most interesting selection decision was the fact that Archie Gray got the opportunity to start in midfield, a role which he rarely played during his first season at Spurs.

We already know that Thomas Frank is a fan of Gray, having tried to take him to Brentford last summer, and based on the Dane’s comments, it looks like the 19-year-old may be set for a prominent role this season.

Thomas Frank reveals what impressed him about Archie Gray in Tottenham vs Newcastle

Gray played 75 minutes alongside Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Sarr in the Spurs midfield, and he had an intense physical battle against the likes of Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes.

Frank admitted that the teenager stood out, remarking that he was very impressed by what the youngster did both in and out of possession.

When asked which young players he was most impressed by on Sunday, the Tottenham boss responded (via Football.London): “I think of any of our young players, I think Archie Gray stood out. I think he was really, really impressive.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I like the way he was carrying the ball forward, his role down the side and the half-space runs, and I also think his aggression in the duels and the pressure was very good.”

Gray’s challenge just got a lot harder at Spurs this season

The youngster will be hoping he can make himself a regular in Frank’s starting line-up this season, but he will have a lot of competition for places.

Tottenham have secured the services of Joao Palhinha, whom Thomas Frank was extremely keen on signing.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly taken a big step in their rumoured pursuit of Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo, who has changed his stance on his future.

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that several Spanish outlets have claimed over the past few weeks that Tottenham are advancing their interest in Rodrygo.

In fact, some sources have even claimed that Spurs are emerging as Rodrygo’s most likely destination this summer after the interest of their Premier League rivals in the player cooled.

Journalist Ben Jacobs revealed last week that Fabio Paratici has made contact with Rodrygo’s camp to find out if he would be open to a move to N17, and a new update has now suggested that the Lilywhites have now taken a significant step towards landing the 24-year-old.

Tottenham submit opening offer for Real Madrid star Rodrygo

This update comes from Marca, who reveal that all parties have accepted that the winger will not have a key role under Xabi Alonso at the Spanish captain.

While Rodrygo was initially keen to stay in Madrid, he is now more open to an exit, and the change in his stance has alerted intermediaries, who have already contacted Real Madrid to find out the conditions needed to sign him.

The report says Los Blancos want €70m-€80m (£60.8m-£70m) for the Brazil international, and it is asserted that Tottenham Hotspur have already made an opening offer for the player.

MORE SPURS STORIES

While the value of Spurs’ offer is not mentioned, it is revealed that the North Londoners are now awaiting a response from Real Madrid.

Two other Premier League clubs are also circling over Rodrygo

Marca say that Tottenham may not have a straight run at the Real Madrid star as they also name Liverpool and Chelsea as contenders for the player’s signature.

It is alleged that the Reds are eyeing Rodrygo as a potential alternative to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak this summer, even though the two players do not play in the same position.

Daniel Levy is making room for a big-money Tottenham signing this summer - Spurs Web
Description

It is alleged that after the latest development at Tottenham, Daniel Levy may now have the financial wiggle room to push ahead with a mega-money deal.

Heung-min Son’s exit from Tottenham marks the end of an era at the North London club, and according to reports, Spurs are now keen to add more firepower to their attack.

Thomas Frank has hinted that Tottenham are looking for another forward, and over the last few weeks, a number of Spanish outlets have claimed that Spurs are considering an audacious move for Rodrygo.

In fact, some sources have claimed that Tottenham are not put off by Real Madrid’s asking price of €90m (£76m) for Rodrgyo, and it has now been asserted that the Premier League side may be ready to make a move for the Brazilian.

Heung-min Son’s departure sets the stage for Rodrygo move

This update comes from Sunday’s edition of AS (as relayed by Sport Witness), which claims that Daniel Levy wants to replace Son with the Los Blancos star.

The outlet points out that Tottenham Hotspur have now reduced their wage bill by around £10m a year by moving on their club legend, thus making room for Rodrygo’s arrival.

It is asserted that a move for the Brazil international make sense for Spurs, both financially and sporting-wise, now that Son has departed.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report asserts that Tottenham have already contacted Real Madrid to ask for permission to hold talks with Rodrygo.

Rodrygo’s stance on his future may change as Tottenham linger

AS say that until now, Rodrygo has not asked to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, but that could soon change.

It is pointed out that Xabi Alonso barely used him in the Club World Cup, and the 24-year-old is expected to drop further down the pecking order due to Franco Mastantuono’s arrival and Gonzalo García’s emergence.

These factors could push the Santos academy graduate through the exit door as Tottenham make a move for his services.

Thomas Frank reveals one thing Joao Palhinha adds that Tottenham do not have - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has admitted that he is delighted at Joao Palhinha’s Tottenham arrival and has explained why he was especially keen to land the midfielder.

Several defensive midfielders have been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer, but it is the Portugal international who the Lilywhites have opted to sign.

The 30-year-old arrives in North London on a season-long loan deal, with the club having the option to make it permanent next summer for £26m.

It has been widely reported that Thomas Frank is a big fan of Palhinha, and the Spurs head coach has now explained why he was so keen to bring the Portugal international on board.

Thomas Frank claims Tottenham lacked a player of Joao Palhinha’s profile

The Tottenham boss has pointed out that among his various midfield options, there is no out-and-out destroyer like Palhinha.

The Dane insisted that the former Fulham man’s ability to stop counterattacks and win back possession will come in very handy for his side, especially away from home.

When asked why Tottenham Hotspur signed Palhinha, he told Football.London: “It was always his abilities, and if you look at the squad, I don’t think we have his ability or package as a clear number six with his profile.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I actually think Rodri (Bentancur) can play there as well, but I think they could complement each other well in there if, for example, it is those two or also other players. I think Pape (Sarr) is extremely promising. We have Bissouma and Bergvall as well.

“But [Palhinha’s] defensive qualities, his ability to be in the centre of the pitch, very disciplined, his distribution, short, diagonals, [passes] in behind and then his ability to break up play. Especially if you are playing away from home or against good counter-attacking teams.

“It’s very important to have one that, you know, is not running away or gets attracted to something. His set-piece ability in both boxes is a key thing, and he has some experience, which is good.”

Frank admits he hated coming up against Palhinha

The 51-year-old revealed that he identified early in his Tottenham tenure that signing a number six was a priority this summer.

Frank also confessed that Palhinha was always a handful to deal with when his Brentford side came up against Fulham in the past.

The Spurs head coach added: “When I came in and assessed the squad, it was an area where I thought we could need something there. I know the squad and I know the team and I have watched extra [games] before I went in but it’s always different when you then walk in and you feel [the players], you touch them, you work with them, and I watch intense video with my eyes and the way I want things to go.

“Then I learned a bit more that he would be a very good addition. He played in the Premier League for two years so I followed him closely and remember the battles we had with him [at Brentford]. He was so annoying to play against so that is a good quality!”

Description

Tottenham are preparing to send a number of youngsters out on loan this summer, with five more players expected to make temporary exits as Thomas Frank trims his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Thomas Frank has not only had to focus on preparing Tottenham Hotspur tactically, but he has also had to shape his squad into his own mould.

Tottenham have already seen Alejo Veliz, Ashley Phillips and Mikey Moore head out on loan this summer, while Heung-min Son is also now set to leave the club.

Meanwhile, several youngsters who returned from loan spells last season remain with the current group, with a decision about their futures expected in the coming weeks.

Tottenham set to loan Luka Vuskovic despite pre-season performances

Football.London has now revealed that Tottenham are expected to hand loan moves to several fringe players – five to be precise.

It was announced today that Tyrese Hall has joined Notts County on loan for his first taste of senior football. Will Lankshear has also joined Oxford United on loan, while Jamie Donley is about to sign for Stoke City for the 2024/25 season.

It is understood that Luka Vuskovic, George Abbott, and Yang Min-hyeok have also been made available for Tottenham loans, alongside Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlett.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Devine has attracted interest from Championship side Millwall, but the second division club are instead looking to sign the 20-year-old on a permanent deal.

Vuskovic, Donley, Lankshear, Abbott and Yang were all involved in Tottenham’s pre-season tour, and it appears that after further assessment, Frank has opted to loan out these players.

Spurs departures could continue after Heung-min Son exit

It is further explained that loan moves for some of these fringe players are imminent, with some deals set to be completed, while others are expected to discuss possible moves.

These exits are not limited to just the youngsters, with Bryan Gil, Manor Solomon, and Yves Bissouma also being discussed as players who could be shipped off this summer.

Description

Will Lankshear will now try again to make his mark on the Championship after finding it tough going at West Brom last season, with the Tottenham striker agreeing a loan move to a second-tier club that Dane Scarlett previously played for.

Lanskhear has an exceptional record in youth football for Spurs, and he made his mark in the first-team last season, scoring his first senior goal for Spurs in their Europa League clash at Galatasaray.

However, the centre-forward struggled to make his mark on loan at West Brom last season, failing to find the back of the net in 13 appearances for the Baggies.

Lanskhear was one of five Spurs youngsters who travelled to Asia along with the Tottenham first-team, and it has now emerged that he has found a new home for the 2024-25 season.

Will Lankshear agrees loan from Tottenham to Oxford United

Despite his struggles at the Hawthorns last season, it turns out that there was no shortage of interest in the Tottenham academy striker’s services.

However, he stated that Oxford United, who finished 17th in the Championship last term, have won the race for the 20-year-old.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham have now confirmed that Lankshear has indeed joined Oxford United on loan for the 2025/26 campaign. One would assume there will be some kind of mid-season break clause, just in case a recall is required.

This means that Oxford have signed strikers from Spurs on loan in back-to-back seasons, with Dane Scarlett spending the first half of last season on loan at the Kassam Stadium.

Three other Spurs youngsters have already left on loan

The most high-profile loan departure from the Spurs this summer has been Mikey Moore, who has joined Scottish Premiership side Rangers.

Meanwhile, centre-back Ashley Phillips has rejoined Stoke City after spending last season at the Bet365 Stadium.

A young Tottenham academy midfielder will now get his first taste of senior football after sealing a loan move to Notts County in League Two.

While there have not been too many outgoings from the Spurs first-team this summer, several of the club’s youngsters have left on loan.

Mikey Moore has completed a loan switch to Scottish giants Rangers, as Tottenham hope that he will return to Hotspur Way next summer, ready to challenge for a starting spot.

Meanwhile, centre-back Ashley Phillips has returned on loan to Stoke City after being a regular in the Potters’ side last season.

Tottenham youngster joins League Two side in his first loan move

Journalist Pete O’Rourke predicted two days ago that Tyrese Hall may be the next Spurs youngster to go out on loan, and he has now been proven right.

The 19-year-old midfielder is thought of very highly at Hotspur Way, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 20 appearances for the Under-21s last season.

The teenager has now completed a season-long loan switch to Notts County and will try to prove himself in League Two next season.

Another Spurs midfielder is expected to leave on loan soon

According to reports, Jamie Donley, who was named Leyton Orient’s Player of the Year last season, is the next player expected to head out on loan.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have made a subtle change to Radu Dragusin’s number after the latest summer signing announcement of Joao Palhinha.

With the new season just a week away, shirt numbers are yet to be finalised at Tottenham Hotspur, as the club continues to make further additions to the squad ahead of the Premier League kick-off.

On Sunday, Tottenham completed another piece of summer business, with Joao Palhinha joining Spurs on loan, in a deal that includes a €30 million (£25.4m) option to buy once the loan expires.

The Portuguese international arrives with a wealth of top-flight experience under his belt, having enjoyed spells in Portugal, Germany and England across the last few years, and now adds depth to Thomas Frank’s midfield options.

Radu Dragusin makes shirt number switch at Tottenham

We revealed before Tottenham’s official announcement that there were several available shirt numbers for Joao Palhinha to choose from.

Tottenham have now confirmed a squad number change for centre-back Radu Dragusin, who will wear the number three shirt from now on, having previously worn number six at the club.

Dragusin’s switch opens up the number six shirt, which has now been made available for Joao Palhinha, as he settles into his holding midfield role in North London.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham confirm Joao Palhinha as new number six

Throughout his career, Joao Palhinha has consistently worn shirt numbers that include the digit six – whether it be 66, 16, 26 or the classic number six itself.

With Dragusin making way, Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed that Palhinha will be the club’s new number six going into the new season.

Speaking about his choice, Palhinha stated: “I try to choose always a number with a six – sometimes it’s not available but since I started my career, it was a number that I’ve had with me because of my family.”

“It means a lot for me because of my grandfather… it’s the day that he left our family and since my grandfather died, if I have a look, a lot of important things in my life have happened on this day, with the number six. I can remember my first goal… everything that has been important in my career – not just the career, but in other things as well – most of the days have the number six.

“I’m a bit superstitious and I believe always that this number has an important meaning for me and my family and this is why I want to keep, if possible, the number with me on the shirt.”

The Portuguese international has previously worn the number six during his time at Sporting and for his national team.

Tottenham Hotspur fans will have one final chance to watch their team in action before the competitive season kicks off, as Thomas Frank’s side takes on Bayern Munich in the Telekom Cup at the Allianz Arena. Here’s how to watch the clash between Tottenham and Bayern on Thursday.

The 25/26 season is now edging ever closer, and for Tottenham, they are set to play their final pre-season friendly before getting stuck into their first competitive game of the season.

Last time out, Tottenham Hotspur were held to a 1-1 draw when they faced Newcastle United in South Korea, a game that marked the end of their pre-season tour of Asia.

The Tottenham players are now headed back to Europe to play their final pre-season clash against Bayern Munich before taking on Paris Saint-Germain a few days later in the UEFA Super Cup – Frank’s first competitive match.

When and where is the game?

The match will take place at the Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany, on Thursday, 7 August 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 5:30 PM (UK time).

How to watch Tottenham vs Bayern Munich in the UK

For fans in the United Kingdom, Tottenham’s clash against Bayern Munich will not be broadcast live on television. However, supporters can stream the game via SpursPlay.

Tottenham and Bayern Munich team news

Coming into the friendly clash, Tottenham Hotspur have their fair share of injury concerns. Bryan Gil is dealing with a knee problem, while Dejan Kulusevski is nursing a more serious knee injury.

MORE SPURS STORIES

James Maddison is also expected to miss out after aggravating his knee in the recent 1-1 draw against Newcastle United, with a confirmed timeline for his recovery yet to be provided.

The injury concerns continue as Destiny Udogie and Manor Solomon are both recovering from muscle and calf issues, respectively, while Radu Dragusin, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury, is also unavailable.

Regarding Dominic Solanke, it remains touch-and-go with the forward, according to Thomas Frank, who has revealed that he could return before the Paris Saint-Germain clash.

Bayern Munich also have several injury concerns to contend with. Alphonso Davies is sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury, Hiroki Ito is currently injured, and Jamal Musiala is recovering from a broken leg.

Spurs Web prediction for Tottenham vs Bayern Munich

Thomas Frank’s side remain unbeaten in pre-season thus far, having beaten Reading and Arsenal, while drawing against Wycombe, Luton and Newcastle.

With the Paris Saint-Germain game just a few days after this, Thomas Frank could very much be looking to push his players to maintain a high intensity against the German champions.

We expect a very competitive game and a strong display from Tottenham, who will be facing off against former striker Harry Kane. It would be a good game for the group before a stern test in the Super Cup, but Bayern could very much edge Tottenham to a victory here.
