Description

Ryan Mason has officially departed Tottenham Hotspur, with a Championship club confirming him as their new head coach ahead of the 2025-26 season.

There are wholesale changes expected at Tottenham this summer, including but not restricted to just the coaching staff.

Ange Postecoglou is still waiting for a decision from Daniel Levy about his future, but the Australian is not the first member of the Tottenham first-team coaching staff to depart.

Ryan Mason, who was appointed as Ange Postecoglou’s assistant coach as soon as the 59-year-old arrived at Hotspur Way in 2023, and has served as interim head coach of the Lilywhites twice before that, has now left the North London club to take up his first managerial role.

Earlier on Monday, another change was made with the news that Donna-Marie Cullen was stepping down from the Tottenham board after twenty years.

Ryan Mason confirmed as West Brom’s new head coach

It was no secret over recent days that Mason was leading the race to become West Bromwich Albion’s new head coach, and the 33-year-old has now officially accepted the role with his Tottenham contract set to expire at the end of June.

Mason’s last involvement for Tottenham came in the 4-1 defeat to Brighton on the final day of the Premier League campaign, which came days after the Europa League final win against Manchester United.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham have now announced the exit of the former midfielder as the permanent successor to Tony Mowbray, who was let go in mid-April with Mason having signed a three-year deal at The Hawthorns.

A statement on the official Spurs site read: “We can announce that Ryan Mason, our Assistant Coach, has left the Club to take up the role of Head Coach at West Bromwich Albion.”

The Baggies finished in ninth place in the Championship in the 2024-25 season, just six points off a playoff spot, and Mason will be tasked with the challenge of securing promotion back to he Premier League.

Smart decision by Mason as he eyes Tottenham head coach role

Mason had gone as far as he could at Tottenham and it was always going to be impossible for him to be considered for the head coach role unless he proved himself elsewhere.

The 33-year-old has been very patient in waiting for the right opportunity and his decision has been vindicated as he has now landed a huge job.

If Mason impresses at the Hawthorns and gets the Baggies promoted, Levy and the Spurs decision-makers will certainly stand up and take notice.

Tottenham backroom staff member reveals how 'spectacular' Ange Postecoglou ended Spursy tag - Spurs Web
Description

One of Ange Postecoglou’s assistants has lifted the lid on how Tottenham Hotspur finally buried the ‘Spursy’ tag once and for all, detailing the mentality shift that brought silverware back to N17.

The past few weeks at N17 will be fondly remembered by Tottenham Hotspur supporters who have watched their club lift a trophy for the first time in 17 years.

Tottenham’s victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final not only marked their first major honour in nearly two decades but also ended a four-decade wait for European silverware.

The win has now confirmed Tottenham’s return to the UEFA Champions League, a competition they last featured in during the 2022/23 season, when they were eliminated in the round of 16.

Ange Postecoglou changed Spurs mentality with belief-first approach

With Spurs finally getting over the line in a major final, the ‘Spursy’ tag and the banter era now seem to be firmly behind them, as they now have a trophy to show for their efforts.

The first-team assistant coach under Ange Postecoglou has now revealed what the Australian head coach did to banish the ‘Spursy’ mentality at Hotspur Way and what the feeling was like within the club as they had gone 17 years without silverware.

Sergio Raimundo told Record: “We started the season wanting to change this story. What we did was, and also largely due to the coach, who was spectacular at this, always have belief and we passed this belief on to the players.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I remember saying to the players in pre-season: ‘This is the year we lift a cup, this is the year we win a title’. So, we started to generate this belief within the group, and we had that mental strength to not deviate, to remain united as a group and always together, even in the worst moments.”

Speaking on Tottenham’s Europa League journey, the assistant manager added: “I think we started very strong at AZ Alkmaar [round of 16], but even more so in Frankfurt [quarter-final].

“We have always been professionals, but from Frankfurt onwards we had a mentality. They are not philosophies, they are not principles, it is to maintain all of that, but now it is to win. In the end it is important that we play well, but it was more important for everyone and for the club to win the trophy.”

Spurs players backed Ange Postecoglou through poor league run

Tottenham did eventually get over the line thanks to the togetherness they all showed, with the Spurs players continuing to back the manager despite poor results in the Premier League.

The 40-year-old assistant manager has also revealed that he is excited to be part of the coaching staff that helped the north London club secure a long-awaited trophy.

He also shared some insight into the Europa League celebrations and the impact the recent success has had on supporters.

He added: “They did a Zoom with me live and there were about 250,000 people in the streets. It was crazy.

“And after the game against Brighton, the fans were super happy, everyone stayed on the pitch, we walked around with the trophy and you can see the impact of them being teased and having that ‘Spursy’ theme.

“It means they almost arrive but never do. Now everyone is motivated, happy, you see a lot of shirts on the street.”

Tottenham may turn attention to Premier League defender after Marc Guehi transfer setback - Spurs Web
Description

After receiving a blow in their pursuit of Marc Guehi, Tottenham Hotspur may turn their attention to a fellow England international centre-back this summer.

A number of reliable sources have reported over recent weeks that the Crystal Palace man is near the top of Tottenham’s transfer wishlist.

The latest to confirm that information was Alasdair Gold, who revealed that Guehi has been a long-term target for Spurs, but suggested that the Lilywhites may have to offer him guarantees of regular starts in order to get the deal over the line.

According to various reports, Tottenham are expected to face competition from Newcastle United for Guehi, with Eddie Howe’s men expected to make a move for the England international.

Tottenham may turn attention to Jarrad Branthwaite

The Times have now provided Tottenham fans with some bad news regarding the club’s pursuit of Guehi.

It is claimed that the 24-year-old, who has one year left on his contract at Selhurst Park, is not interested in moving to N17 this summer as the Lilywhites found out when they launched a bid for him in January.

Spurs are said to be considering other defensive options, and they may turn their attention to Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This is not the first we have heard of the North Londoners’ interest in the Toffees man, with The Sun reporting back in March that Tottenham were set to battle Manchester United for Branthwaite.

Why this Guehi news may not necessarily be a bad thing for Spurs

It has been claimed by several outlets over recent weeks that Tottenham are eyeing Guehi as a replacement for Cristian Romero.

However, the Argentine is not certain to leave any longer, with some reports claiming over the last few days that Daniel Levy is determined to keep Romero off Atletico Madrid’s clutches.

Description

Jean-Philippe Mateta has now named one Tottenham player as the trickiest defender he has faced in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace have enjoyed a successful season, with the club winning their first-ever major piece of silverware in its entire existence when they lifted the FA Cup.

They also managed a solid Premier League campaign, finishing 12th in the table – a performance that has put their manager, Oliver Glasner as a potential managerial replacement for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, with the Australian’s future under fire.

Jean-Philippe Mateta has also been at the heart of the Eagles’ success this season, scoring 14 Premier League goals last term, after he managed 16 in the 2023/24 season.

Jean-Philippe Mateta praises the speed of Micky van de Ven

The Palace striker has been speaking about the toughest opponents he has come up against in the League, and he has named one of Tottenham’s top performers this season “tricky” to play against.

Mateta has praised Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven’s pace and has labelled the Dutchman a very good performer. Speaking to the Premier League, he said: “As a striker, you always make the runs. But this guy always comes to take the ball, you know. He is very good!”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Indeed, van de Ven is one of the quickest defenders in the League, and last season, no player ran faster than the Dutch defender, who recorded a top speed of over 37km/h.

Micky van de Ven continues to show his importance to Spurs

Van de Ven has been a big part of Tottenham’s setup since he joined back in 2023, and in this season’s Europa League final, the 24-year-old made his biggest contribution in a Spurs shirt, after he made a heroic goal-line clearance following a Rasmus Hojlund header into an open net.

The defender’s quality is clear to see by many, but still, he has not been without his struggles, as injuries often leave him sidelined for extended periods in a season.

However, when he is fit and in the starting XI for Tottenham, he undoubtedly makes the club play much better, with his recovery pace allowing Spurs to maintain a high line and press effectively.

Champions League club moving quickly to sign player who has been released by Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

One experienced defender who has recently departed Tottenham Hotspur as a free agent is already in talks over sealing a move to a Champions League club ahead of the new season.

The club confirmed the departures of some players within the Tottenham first-team squad last week, with the likes of Fraser Forster and Alfie Whiteman heading out of the door following the conclusion of their contracts.

Another of those to have left was Sergio Reguilon, who arrived at Tottenham from Real Madrid back in 2020 and has had a difficult last couple of years, being shipped off on loan to Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Brentford with limited success.

The left-back ended his Spurs career with 73 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and providing nine assists and it turns out that he is now on the verge of joining a Ligue 1 side.

Monaco are confident of completing Sergio Reguilon transfer

According to a report by L’Equipe, the former Tottenham man is on Monaco’s list of transfer targets as the club looks to bolster their options at left-back.

It is reported that the Ligue 1 side has already entered negotiations with the Spaniard regarding a move to the Stade Louis II, wasting no time in jumping ahead of the queue for the full-back.

Monaco believe that they will seal the deal for Reguilon, having ‘privately expressed confidence’ in the last few hours that a positive outcome will be reached in negotiations.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Reguilon could link up with a familiar face at Monaco

If Reguilon does complete a switch to Monaco, he will reunite with former Tottenham centre-back, Eric Dier.

The England international departed the Allianz Arena this summer on a high after lifting the Bundesliga title, making a free switch to the Ligue 1 side after his contract with Bayern Munich.

England international has been Tottenham’s ‘most wanted player’ to add creative spark - Spurs Web
Description

Alasdair Gold has claimed that one midfielder, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur over multiple transfer windows, has been at the top of the North London club’s wishlist for a long time, and the Lilywhites may have one advantage in the race to land.

A number of publications have installed Tottenham as the front-runners to sign Eberechi Eze this summer, but getting the deal over the line will be easier said than done.

Eze has also emerged as a target for Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola’s side allegedly eyeing the 26-year-old as the man to replace Kevin De Bruyne this summer.

It was even claimed last month that Spurs were ready to submit their opening offer for Eze, with the Lilywhites wanting to get a head start over the competition for the Crystal Palace star.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now claimed that Eze has been “the most wanted player at Spurs for a while”, with the midfielder rated very highly by the decision-makers at Hotspur Way.

The journalist points out that the England international is represented by the Base Agency, who also look after many of Tottenham’s players as well as Ange Postecoglou.

Daniel Levy has close links with Base, which could help the North Londoners if they enter the negotiating table for the 26-year-old this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, Gold adds that the transfer ultimately depends on Palace and whether they want to cash in on their star man, who has two years left on his contract.

While that gives the Eagles some leeway in the negotiations, it also means that this is the last window where they can ask for a huge figure for the midfielder.

Eze is open to a summer transfer away from Crystal Palace

Some might have wondered if Palace’s historic FA Cup, which was the first trophy in the club’s history, would have persuaded the attacking midfielder to stay at Selhurst Park.

However, it was reported by Football Insider late last month that the FA Cup win will have no bearing on Eze’s future, with the player still open to a move away from the South London club this summer.

The same outlet revealed that Tottenham are expected to face competition from Manchester United and Manchester City for Eze.

22-year-old Tottenham player expected to be rewarded with a new contract after impressive season - Spurs Web
Description

One highly-rated Tottenham Hotspur talent who has had an outstanding 2024/25 season out on loan is expected to be rewarded with an improved long-term deal.

While Spurs fans were raving about the way Jamie Donley has impressed at Leyton Orient through the season, another Tottenham loanee was just as impressive for the O’s.

The League One club ultimately fell just short of promotion after a defeat in the playoff final to Charlton Athletic, but did have Josh Keeley to thank as one of the key reasons for making it to Wembley.

Not only was the goalkeeper outstanding between the sticks all campaign, keeping 16 clean sheets in the process, but also played a pivotal part in their play-off campaign, having proved to be the hero in their penalty shoot-out win against Stockport County.

Josh Keeley will be rewarded with a new Tottenham contract

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now claimed that the Tottenham academy graduate will be handed a new contract by the Lilywhites this summer as a reward for his impressive development over the last 12 months.

Some fans might be wondering if the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international may have a first-team role at Spurs next season, particularly following the departure of Fraser Forster.

However, Gold claims the plan is to find Keeley another loan move ahead of the 2025/26 season to allow him to continue to experience regular first-team football as part of his development.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The club want to loan Keeley’s next loan stint to be a team playing at a higher level than Orient, and there is thought to be no shortage of interest in the goalkeeper.

Two other Spurs talents could also receive new contracts

Two other Tottenham midfielders, who also impressed on loan, could also be in line to receive extensions before the start of the new season, according to Gold.

The journalist says that Alfie Devine, who shone as a number ten at Westerlo in the Belgium top flight, may also get a new deal.

Meanwhile, George Abbott, who was nominated for the League Two Player of the Season award, after his showing at Notts County, could also be in line for an extension.

Tottenham set for decisive week in Leroy Sane transfer chase with player set to hold talks - Spurs Web
Description

Leroy Sane is expected to hold fresh talks with Bayern Munich this week, with Tottenham Hotspur still firmly in the mix for the German winger despite efforts from the Bundesliga giants to tie him down to a new deal.

Leroy Sane’s contract situation has taken a few different twists since it was revealed that Tottenham Hotspur had been offered the chance to sign Sane from Bayern Munich.

The Bayern Munich wide man has managed 11 goals and five assists in 30 Bundesliga matches this season, but could leave as a free agent when his contract expires later this month.

The German champions are currently working to agree a deal with Sane, and it was reported last week that talks between Sane and Bayern were progressing well, with a new agreement expected to be reached soon.

However, those claims were quickly played down, as another outlet suggested that Tottenham remain confident of landing Sane despite Bayern Munich’s ongoing contract efforts.

Tottenham remain keen as Bayern Munich prepare new talks with Leroy Sane

Fresh reports from GIVEMESPORT now state that Bayern Munich are set to hold talks with Leroy Sane this week, despite interest from both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

It is understood that all parties are seeking clarity over where the winger’s future lies, with an acknowledgement that there is still a chance he could extend his stay at the Allianz Arena.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham and other suitors remain fully aware that the former Manchester City man may yet commit to Bayern, but a breakthrough in negotiations has still not been made.

GIVEMESPORT also reaffirmed Spurs’ interest in Leroy Sane, stating that while it is genuine, the current uncertainty surrounding the managerial situation at the club is far from ideal.

Arsenal interest in Sane noted but Spurs maintain agent connection

The publication also highlights Arsenal’s interest in Sane, but note that while the Gunners are monitoring the situation, nothing is advanced at this stage as they consider younger alternatives.

Daniel Levy is said to have a strong working relationship with Sane’s agent, Pini Zahavi, and it is believed that the pair have already held talks over a potential move to north London.

With discussions between Sane and Bayern Munich expected to take place this week, Tottenham are still in the dark as to whether the winger will remain in Germany or push for a return to the Premier League.

Tottenham could be set to save £20m fee in transfer negotiations with club willing to offer discount - Spurs Web
Description

A new update from Germany has revealed the feeling at Bayern Munich over the sale of Mathys Tel this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur set to save a sizeable amount of money if they wish to buy the forward.

Some Spurs fans are not convinced about Tel after the Frenchman failed to pull up any trees during his spell at N17, although he did show glimpses of promise.

Reports over recent weeks have indicated that Tottenham do not plan on activating the £45m option to buy Tel and instead want to renegotiate a discounted deal with Bayern.

Ange Postecoglou has been pleased with the 20-year-old’s contribution, but the Australian might not have much say in the decision, with reports over recent days indicating that Spurs are expected to make a managerial change shortly.

Bayern Munich willing to offer Mathys Tel discount to Spurs

Christian Falk has now provided the latest on the French Under-21 international’s future to FC Bayern Insider, and he suggests that the chances of Tottenham getting a discounted deal are high.

It is reported that Spurs’ option to buy Mathys Tel currently stands at £50m and confirms that the Lilywhites have no intention of meeting that asking price.

However, he revealed Bayern have decided to offload the forward as they aim to generate cash to fund the moves for their top transfer targets ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Falk claims Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has a good relationship with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and is prepared to re-negotiate terms for the forward.

The journalist suggests that the German giants could lower their demands for Tel to £30m, which will represent a £20m reduction from Tottenham’s purchase option.

Tottenham may complete double-deal from Bayern

Falk points out that Tel is not the only Bayern man that Spurs have their eye on, with Tottenham interested in signing Leroy Sane, who is out of contract this month.

The journalist says that it would be a ‘masterclass’ by Levy if he manages to secure deals for both wide-attackers this summer.

Journalist reveals how key decision could stop Cristian Romero from leaving Tottenham this summer - Spurs Web
Description

It has been claimed by a reliable source that although Cristian Romero would prefer to join Atletico Madrid, he will stay at Tottenham Hotspur for one more season as long as Ange Postecoglou remains in charge.

Despite Tottenham’s Europa League success and their qualification for the Champions League, the speculation linking Romero with a move to Atletico Madrid has not stopped.

Over recent days, some sources have suggested that Atletico are ready to launch an aggressive assault to land Romero, but that does not mean that the La Liga club will get their man.

Tottenham are expected to fight to hang onto their vice-captain, who has two years left on his contract at N17.

Cristian Romero will push for Spurs exit if Postecoglou is sacked

Over the last few days, some outlets have suggested that Romero’s future at Spurs could be tied to the future of Ange Postecoglou.

This has now been backed up by journalist Ruben Uria, who has said that the centre-back will remain at Tottenham as long as the Lilywhites do not sak their head coach.

Uria claimed that the 27-year-old has spoken to Diego Simeone and wants to move to Atletico, hinting that he will agitate for the transfer if Postecoglou is sacked.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Argentine reporter told ElDesmarque: “The key is who will be the Tottenham manager. If Postecoglou stays, I think Cuti won’t leave. Now, if there’s a change of coach, Cuti will do everything possible to leave.

“He wants to live in Madrid, not London. He wants to play for Atleti and has already spoken several times with Cholo Simeone. A meeting is planned between Miguel Angel Gil Marin and Levy to find out if they can sit down and negotiate or if the player will stay in London.”

Cristian Romero’s promising statements about his future

Last week, Romero stressed the need for Tottenham to continue on this path and build on their Europa League success, which many saw as a promising sign that the centre-back wants to stay.

Over the weekend, the centre-back gave his clearest indication yet that he is ready to stay, with Romero insisting he is happy at Spurs.

However, the World Cup winner also said in the same interview that he would love to play in La Liga one day, thus leaving the door open for a move to the Metropolitano Stadium.
