Description

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have their eyes on four different Premier League bosses to replace Ange Postecoglou, and they are big fans of Thomas Frank for one key reason.

Ange Postecoglou is currently on holiday as he awaits his fate, with reports indicating that a managerial change is likely at Tottenham despite the club’s Europa League success.

However, the Lilywhites cannot afford to drag their feet on the decision for too long, with the transfer market now officially open.

A new report has now shed light on the four Premier League bosses that the North Londoners are assessing and their chances of getting them through the door.

Four Premier League bosses eyed as Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham replacement

The Telegraph have backed up what we have heard from other reports over recent months by naming Thomas Frank, Marco Silva, Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner as potential options to replace Postecoglou in the Tottenham hot seat.

The report says that Frank is in the frame for the job as his work with young players at the Gtech Community Stadium appeals to Tottenham while Silva is also highly rated by the decision-makers at Hotspur Way.

However, it is revealed that a move for Iraola may not be straightforward as the Spaniard is expected to remain at the Vitality Stadium.

Finally, the outlet also points out that Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish is adamant Oliver Glasner would stay at Selhurst Park for one more season.

What Oliver Glasner and Thomas Frank have said about their futures

Despite Steve Parish’s bullish claim, Glasner has left the door slightly open for a potential Palace exit, putting his chances of remaining with the Eagles at 99 per cent rather than 100.

Meanwhile, talkSPORT presenter Natalie Sawyer revealed last week that Frank had sent a cryptic message hinting at staying at Brentford for one more year.

Description

While there has been no official communication from Tottenham Hotspur about Ange Postecoglou’s future since the end of the season, a new report says that Daniel Levy has already made his decision on the Australian’s future.

The general consensus among the British press over the last week has been that there will be a managerial change at Tottenham Hotspur this summer despite the club’s Europa League success.

In fact, The Independent’s Miguel Delaney even said recently that Postecoglou’s chances of keeping his Spurs job have dropped below 5 per cent.

While some sources have said over the last 24 hours that chances of Postecoglou staying cannot be ruled out, a new update has claimed that the Australian’s fate has already been sealed.

Daniel Levy has decided to sack Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

According to Football Insider, Tottenham have already decided to sack Postecoglou after the Lilywhites suffered 22 league defeats this season.

Spurs’ formal stance is that no firm decision has been made as Daniel Levy has been out of the UK since the end of the season.

However, internally the Tottenham hierarchy have already decided to make a managerial change this summer despite the Australian delivering the club’s first trophy in 17 years.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet claims that Spurs board have been waiting for the emotions of the Europa League success to subside before testing the temperature of the fan base about the Australian.

However, the North London club are now pressing ahead with their pursuit of a new manager and are expected to formally announce Postecoglou’s departure within the next few days.

Spurs have sounded out potential replacements for Postecoglou

Football Insider also claim that Spurs have sounded out replacements for the 59-year-old and have made some progress in talks with various candidates.

The outlet confirms what we have heard from other sources by naming Thomas Frank, Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola as the top contenders, with all three having admirers at Hotspur Way.

The publication adds that these three candidates are rated highly due to their ability to develop young players and their proven Premier League calibre.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans are now waiting for an official communication from the club regarding Ange Postecoglou’s future, and a new report has now suggested that they will not have to wait for long.

It has been widely reported by a few outlets over the last week that Postecoglou is expected to be sacked by Spurs despite delivering the Europa League trophy to the club.

However, it was alleged by Gianluca Di Marzio on Saturday that the tide is turning at Tottenham Hotspur in the Australian’s favour and that Postecoglou’s chances of keeping his job had increased.

Amidst these contradictory updates, a new report has revealed when the Lilywhites will finalise their decision on their managerial role.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham fate will become clear very soon

According to The Telegraph, Postecoglou will learn whether he will get a third season at Tottenham this coming week.

The report says that the Australian’s position remains under extreme risk despite the European success, with the team’s poor showing in the Premier League causing the North Londoners to assess other managers.

The 59-year-old is currently on holiday while Levy has also been away from the UK since the end of the season. A change of manager is anticipated by this coming week, along with some major changes across various departments at the club.

Daniel Levy finds himself between a rock and a hard place

Given Postecoglou’s popularity among Spurs fans and Levy’s lack of it, a decision to sack the Australian will not go down well with the club’s fan base.

However, if Spurs stick with the former Celtic boss and have a poor or indifferent start to the season, the pitchforks will once again be out against the Tottenham board next term.

The idea that winning the trophy alone is enough to justify keeping Postecoglou falls flat when one realises that the last Spurs head coach to win a trophy was Juande Ramos.

League finish is a much better metric of how consistent a team is and the Tottenham top brass may decide that a 17th-place finish is simply unacceptable, irrespective of the extenuating circumstances.

Tottenham and Newcastle both hold ‘advanced talks’ with Italian manager

Tottenham and Newcastle both hold ‘advanced talks’ with Italian manager - Spurs Web
Description

Journalist Tancredi Palmeri has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have already held conversations with a highly decorated Italian manager over replacing Ange Postecoglou, but they are not the only ones after him.

As Daniel Levy contemplates whether to sack Ange Postecoglou, a number of high-profile replacements have allegedly been explored by the Lilywhites, including a man who has won a whole host of trophies in Italy.

It first emerged a few months ago that Fabio Paratici had urged Daniel Levy to appoint Inzaghi as the next Spurs head coach.

It was subsequently claimed that Simone Inzaghi’s name is ‘getting hotter’ in the race for the Tottenham job, but it has now emerged that the Lilywhites are not the only ones eyeing a move for the 49-year-old.

Simone Inzaghi has held talks with two other clubs apart from Tottenham

On Saturday night, the experienced Italian coach suffered a heartbreak as his Inter side were thrashed 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the Champions League.

It means that the Nerazzurri ended the season without silverware despite competing admirably both domestically and in Europe all season.

Journalist Tancredi Palmeri has now revealed that the Italian coach has been offered a huge contract by Al Hilal, and has also held advanced talks with both Spurs and Newcastle.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, he suggested that the Inter boss’s priority is to remain at the San Siro next season, even though he finds the Premier League to be tempting.

Palmeri told talkSPORT about Inzaghi’s future: “The situation is that Al Hilal offered him £25m per season for two seasons. I can tell you that he had advanced contacts with both Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur but at the same time, the priority for him is to stay at Inter.

“Obviously if we talk on a financial level nobody can compete with the salary that Al Hilal are offering. But the Premier League is always a great temptation and at the same time I must tell you that Inzaghi already rejected Liverpool last summer and Manchester United in October.”

What Inzaghi said about his future after Inter’s defeat to PSG

As one would expect, the Nerazzurri head coach was not in the mood to discuss his future after his side had been humiliated at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

He admitted that he was hurting after the 5-0 loss and insisted that now is not the time to address the speculation regarding his role.

When asked if he would be in charge of Inter for the Club World Cup, the Tottenham managerial target responded: “As I was saying before to your colleague, I cannot answer this question now. I came here out of respect for you, for politeness because I am hurting from a sporting point of view.

“It’s not the right time to talk about the future. We are extremely disappointed and since July of last year we’ve played 58 or 59 games, we got to this final match, so it’s awkward to talk about my future now.

“Again, we are extremely disappointed. We will be talking about the fact we won no silverware this year but these players deserve great credit because they gave it their very best shot and we suffered a lot of injuries. I wouldn’t change these players for anyone else.”

Tottenham rank second in 2024/25 injury table – More than Arsenal and double Liverpool - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham suffered twice the injury setbacks Liverpool did during the 2024/25 season, with the final numbers underlining just how much their campaign was defined by injuries.

It sure was a memorable 2024/25 campaign for Tottenham Hotspur for both the right and wrong reasons, with the Lilywhites winning their first major trophy since 2008, but they endured an abysmal domestic campaign – their worst ever – as they ended in 17th place after losing 22 League games.

For Ange Postecoglou, he would rightly point to the club’s injury crisis as one of the major reasons for the north London club’s slump down the table, as his second spell in charge saw Tottenham end a staggering 12 places below his first season.

In February, we reported that Spurs had a whopping 198 cases of missing personnel, with every player suffering an injury at some point, with the exception of five.

Tottenham players missed over 1,500 days to injury in 2024/25

Now, with the season wrapped up, a round-up of all the injuries suffered by each Premier League club has been revealed, and it makes for interesting reading.

According to reports from Premier Injuries, Spurs were among the hardest-hit clubs in the Premier League this season when it came to player availability, but they were not the worst off.

The Lilywhites are reported to have lost a staggering 1,553 player-days to injury, which is more than double Liverpool’s total.

In fact, only Brighton players, with 1,944, missed more days through injury, while relegated Ipswich Town (1,506 days) and trophyless Arsenal (1,297 days) also had serious availability issues.

Spurs’ 41 injury cases levelled with Ipswich Town

In terms of separate injury cases, Tottenham had 41, level with Ipswich Town, with only Brighton recording more, 48, while the Gunners endured 36 separate injury cases.

The data, compiled by the report, includes any injury issue that forced a player to miss at least one competitive match, with illnesses and pre-season knocks not counting.

Other clubs who lost over 1,000 player-days to injury include Manchester United (1,295), Bournemouth (1,185) and Manchester City (1,134), while West Ham (672), Nottingham Forest (673) and Liverpool (765) fared best in terms of player availability.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are set for another European night under the lights, as they now know who they will face in the UEFA Super Cup following their historic Europa League triumph.

Tottenham Hotspur ended their 2024/25 campaign in the best way possible, winning the UEFA Europa League and ending a 41-year wait for a European trophy, having last lifted silverware in Europe in 1984.

In doing so, the north London club also ended a 17-year wait for any kind of major honour, securing a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League, despite a dismal domestic campaign that saw them finish 17th in the Premier League table.

Their Europa League success has also booked them a place in the UEFA Super Cup, which will take place on Wednesday, August 13, in Udine, Italy – a one-off clash that pits the winners of the Champions League against the Europa League champions.

Tottenham will play Paris Saint-Germain in UEFA Super Cup final

With a place in the UEFA Super Cup final booked, Tottenham Hotspur will now have the opportunity to make it two European trophies in as many finals, when they take to the field in three months’ time.

Tottenham fans are understandably relishing the prospect of another final, as there is a growing confidence that the side can step up once more on the big stage.

Following the UEFA Champions League final between Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham have now discovered their Super Cup final opponents.

MORE SPURS STORIES

After thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in Munich, Paris Saint-Germain have set up a clash with Spurs in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, August 13th 2025, which will be hosted in the 25,144-capacity Stadio Friuli – the home of Serie A side Udinese Calcio.

Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie will be very familiar with the venue, having spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Udinese.

The last time the two sides met was in July 2017 when Tottenham beat PSG 4-2 in the International Champions Cup, a fixture held in Orlando, USA.

Spurs set for European windfall and ticket estimates revealed

Tottenham Hotspur’s involvement in the UEFA Super Cup will bring a financial boost, as the club is set to earn €4 million (£3.3m) from UEFA simply for taking part in the final, and an additional €1 million (£839,000) should they go on to win it.

While ticket prices for the 2025 final have yet to be confirmed, it is expected they will remain in line with those of last year’s edition, providing supporters with a general idea of what to budget for.

Last year’s ticket pricing was as follows:

Although ticket prices do not typically vary much from year to year, it is advisable for fans to use these as a rough benchmark until UEFA officially confirms the 2025 structure and opens the sales window.

Description

Glenn Hoddle was asked to pick his all-time best eleven and a current Tottenham player made it into his side, and it is not who fans may expect.

Hoddle knows what it takes to succeed as a player and a manager at the highest level and few are as qualified as him to talk about the greats of yesteryear, given the amount of football the Spurs legend has seen over the decades.

The task of picking his all-time dream 11 is thus far from an easy one, given the numerous world-class options to choose from.

One current Tottenham Hotspur man, who played a crucial role in the club’s Europa League success, has made it into Hoddle’s dream team.

Glenn Hoddle is a big fan of Micky Van de Ven

Spurs fans might have expected Heung-min Son to be the player who made the cut, but it was actually a Tottenham centre-back.

It was not world champion and two-time Copa America winner Cristian Romero, but rather his defensive partner, Micky van de Ven who found a place in the side, with the Dutchman starting alongside France legend Patrick Battiston in the heart of the defence.

The 67-year-old was doing the exercise for The Daily Mail and he said about the Tottenham centre-back: “I’d go Van de Ven, I love him.”

Two former Tottenham stars also make Hoddle’s dream team

As one would expect, there was no shortage of Tottenham representation in the side, with the Spurs legend also picking another former Lilywhite star in his backline: Kyle Walker.

Tottenham fans will not be surprised to know that Hoddle’s former Spurs teammate, Ossie Ardiles also made the cut, starting in the middle of the park alongside Man United legend Bryan Robson.

The Argentine made 238 appearances in a Spurs shirt, scoring 16 times, and went on to manage the club during the 1993-94 season.

Glenn Hoddle’s full all-time dream XI: Ray Clemence; Kyle Walker, Patrick Battiston, Micky Van de Ven, Kenny Sansom; David Beckham, Ossie Ardiles, Bryan Robson, John Barnes; Maradona, George Weah.

Harry Kane previews Bayern Munich’s upcoming match against Tottenham Hotspur - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur will take on Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly this summer and Harry Kane is already looking forward to facing his former club.

Harry Kane has had quite the season for Bayern Munich. He registered 38 goals and 13 assists in all competitions and finally got his hands on a trophy, as Bayern comfortably won the Bundesliga.

While Kane will be delighted to have achieved silverware, the club he left in order to win trophies, are now the Europa League champions. Tottenham ended a 17-year trophy drought in Bilbao and have the chance to compete for the UEFA Super Cup against the winners of the Champions League.

Spirits will therefore be high in both camps, as Spurs travel to the Allianz Arena to face Kane and his Bayern Munich teammates in a pre-season friendly on Thursday, August 7. The sides met twice in pre-season last year, with Bayern coming out on top in both matches.

Harry Kane looks ahead to Bayern Munich vs Tottenham

Kane is looking forward to seeing some familiar faces from his old club and believes the upcoming fixture will be even better, with both sides winning trophies this season.

He told Cleats Club: “It’s obviously still a few months away yet, but it will be great to see some of the guys again – especially after having a couple of successful seasons each, and just to see how they are getting on.

“In our stadium, in front of our fans as well, it will be a great match-up and hopefully a great game.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

This will be the first time Spurs play Bayern at the home of the champions of Germany since the 2019/20 Champions League group stage, a game Spurs lost 3-1.

Could Kane add to his Spurs legacy one day?

Kane has already made history for Tottenham by becoming the club’s all-time top goalscorer. However, some Spurs supporters now believe Heung-min Son is more of a legend at the club, because he stayed to win a trophy.

Yet while Son’s Spurs career looks to be nearing its end, Tottenham have first refusal on Kane and could look to re-sign their former star striker in the future.

Tottenham target Bryan Mbeumo has been spotted in France alongside a Spurs full-back, as speculation surrounding a potential summer move continues to gather pace.

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer window has been off to a busy start, with the club already dipping into the market while also cashing in on a departing player.

The first bit of business saw Tottenham trigger the £21 million obligation to buy defender Kevin Danso, a clause that had been inserted into his initial winter move to the club.

And in terms of outgoings, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has officially completed his move to Marseille, with the French side activating the £17 million purchase option in his contract. Ironically, it was also announced that Sergio Reguilon will leave Tottenham once his contract runs down.

The Lilywhites remain active in the market and have been linked with several players in recent weeks, one of whom is Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, who enjoyed another standout season in the 2024/25 campaign.

The Brentford man was one of the most reliable performers in front of goal, racking up 20 Premier League goals in 38 appearances – his best-ever return since arriving in England’s top flight.

Tottenham are reportedly monitoring Bryan Mbeumo ahead of the window’s official opening, and now Mbeumo has been recently spotted in France alongside Spurs defender Sergio Reguilon amid transfer links to Tottenham.
