Description

Tottenham’s improving injury situation has taken a fresh hit, with a new concern emerging ahead of their crucial clash with Nottingham Forest.

It all seemed to be looking up for Tottenham Hotspur on the injury front going into their all-important relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest this Sunday.

Igor Tudor had confirmed the availability of Joao Palhinha for the weekend, after he missed the second-leg tie against Atletico Madrid.

Dominic Solanke was not spotted in training, but according to Tudor, he could still feature on Sunday as he is expected to train tomorrow.

Guglielmo Vicario set for surgery in major Tottenham blow

The good news for Tottenham did not stop there, as the Spurs boss offered further positive updates on long-term absentees, stating that Mohammed Kudus will return in the next ten days, while James Maddison could still feature this season. Rodrigo Bentancur is also understood to be making good progress.

However, it has now been revealed that Tottenham have been handed a major injury blow for the remainder of the season.

It has been reported by Gianluca Di Marzio that Guglielmo Vicario is set to undergo hernia surgery in the next few days.

Spurs set to turn to Antonin Kinsky for the foreseeable future

This comes as a significant blow for Tottenham as they continue to fight for Premier League survival. The return date for Vicario is unknown, and it is stated that he will need a period of rest following his surgery.

The operation is set to take place on Monday, and it remains to be seen whether the Italian will feature this weekend before going under the knife.

Tudor had stated that Kinsky will still play for Spurs this season following his errors against Atletico Madrid when he was thrown in right in the deep, and that now looks likely with Vicario expected to be out for the rest of the season.

The Italian has, for now, not joined up with his national team, with the international break coming after this weekend.

Tottenham reveal quadruple injury boost: Kudus, Bentancur, Maddison, Solanke - Spurs Web
Description

Igor Tudor has issued an injury update on his Tottenham squad ahead of a crucial clash with Nottingham Forest, with positive news on James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus, Rodrigo Bentancur, Dominic Solanke, and Joao Palhinha.

Tottenham Hotspur know that securing all three points this weekend against Nottingham Forest is vital for their Premier League survival.

It is a relegation six-pointer, and a victory for either side will see them extend the gap between themselves and the drop.

For Spurs, they can go four points clear of the relegation zone, while Forest can move three points clear of West Ham United and two of Spurs.

However, either side could still drop to 18th with a defeat and a West Ham United win, leaving it all to play for.

Ahead of the clash, Igor Tudor might be fancying his chances given how his team have performed in recent games.

Spurs drew with Liverpool last time out in the league and beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

MORE SPURS STORIES

That is a big boost for the Lilywhites heading into this match, with further encouragement on the injury front.

Tottenham, who were missing a total of 13 players against Liverpool last weekend and 11 against Atletico Madrid, are now set to be without just seven this weekend.

Cristian Romero, Conor Gallagher, Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie, who all made their returns on Wednesday, are set to be back in the team for the Premier League clash.

Meanwhile, several players remain sidelined, with Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert and James Maddison all still out.

Richarlison, who was suspended in Europe, can feature, while Souza should return after being ineligible in the Champions League.

However, Joao Palhinha remains a doubt, and Tudor has now provided an update on his Tottenham squad ahead of the clash with Forest this weekend. There is even some surprise good news on Mohammed Kudus, James Maddison, and Rodrigo Bentancur.

He told the official Tottenham channels and Football London: “Dom didn’t train, but probably tomorrow he will train with the team, and I think he will be available. He had a hip problem, but I think he will be ok.”

On Maddison potentially playing again this season, he added: “Yeah, Maddison is already doing some interesting things with the ball and sprinting, he is positive.”

Tudor then added that Kudus could return in the next 10 days, while Joao Palhinha is back in training, and Rodrigo Bentancur is edging closer.

Tottenham’s preparations for Nottingham Forest have taken another turn, with one player returning to training while another remains absent ahead of the weekend clash.

All eyes will be on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend when Tottenham take on Nottingham Forest in a relegation six-pointer.

Both sides come into this encounter off the back of victories, with Spurs beating Atletico Madrid 3-2 in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, while Forest beat FC Midtjylland 3-0 on penalties following a 2-1 win after extra time.

Forest opted to rest a few of their stars in their Europa League clash, with eyes firmly on Sunday’s encounter with Spurs, although a couple of them later featured for 45 minutes as the game went on.

Joao Palhinha returns to training as Dominic Solanke misses Tottenham session

Tottenham will be fancying their chances, especially with a few of their players returning from injury.

As it stands, Tottenham are expected to be without just seven first-team players when they take on Forest, a significant improvement from the 13 who were out ahead of the clash with Liverpool last weekend.

Footage from the training ground has now confirmed that Joao Palhinha is one player expected to return, as he was seen training with the first-team squad after completing concussion protocols.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Portuguese midfielder missed the game against Atletico Madrid but now looks set to return this weekend.

However, in the same footage, striker Dominic Solanke was not seen. He was also not involved on Wednesday because of a hip problem, despite Igor Tudor suggesting the issue was not serious and that he could return this weekend.

Spurs injury situation stabilises before Nottingham Forest clash

There were no further scares on the injury front, which is a boost for Tottenham heading into this game.

Tudor will now need to make do with the players at his disposal as he aims to cause Nottingham Forest problems on Sunday.

The Tricky Trees beat Spurs 3-0 in the earlier meeting this season, and Sunday affords Tottenham the opportunity for revenge.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur may have just received a bad omen ahead of their relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The fact that the Spurs held a clash against 17th-placed Forest in higher regard than a Champions League Round of 16 tie against Atletico Madrid shows what the Lilywhites’ preoccupations are at the moment.

Tottenham are desperately trying to preserve their Premier League status after a disastrous campaign, sitting just one point above the drop zone.

The result against Forest this Sunday could go a long way towards defining whether Spurs stay up or not, and they may not be too pleased with the latest announcement ahead of the game.

Michael Oliver will referee Tottenham’s clash against Nottingham Forest

The Premier League have now confirmed that Michael Oliver will take charge of the clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Oliver will be assisted by Stuart Burt and James Mainwaring, while Chris Kavanagh, Tony Harrington, and Craig Taylor will be the fourth official, VAR and assistant VAR, respectively.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The last time Oliver officiated a Spurs game was during their 2-0 loss to Man United at Old Trafford last month.

Cristian Romero was sent off less than 30 minutes into the game, and that is something Tottenham will be keen to avoid a repeat of against Forest.

What is Spurs record in games overseen by Oliver?

Spurs have a decent record when Oliver has officiated their matches, which he has done on 54 occasions, as per Transfermarkt.

Tottenham have won 28 of those 54 matches, while drawing 11 and losing 15, giving them a win percentage of 51 per cent.

Oliver has booked Spurs players on 95 different occasions, which is less than two yellows per match, while he has brandished a red card on six occasions to those wearing Lilywhite.

Description

Tottenham return to Premier League action this weekend with little margin for error, as they prepare to face Nottingham Forest in a fixture that could shape their immediate future. Here’s how to watch the clash between Tottenham and Forest.

Tottenham Hotspur now have just the Premier League to focus on for the remainder of the season following their recent exit from the Champions League.

Atletico Madrid came out on top over the two-legged last-16 tie, beating Tottenham 7-5 on aggregate despite Spurs’ 3-2 win on Wednesday night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Igor Tudor’s men showed some fight, but that was not enough to see them advance to the next stage, and now he will be hoping for a similar spirit in the Premier League this weekend.

When and where Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest takes place

Tottenham will take on Nottingham Forest on Sunday, 22 March 2026 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 14:15 (UK time).

How to watch Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest live on TV

Supporters in the United Kingdom can watch Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Ultra HDR.

Spurs and Nottingham Forest team news ahead of Premier League clash

Tottenham come into this encounter with a significantly boosted squad, with several players returning to contention ahead of Sunday’s clash.

Richarlison missed the Atletico Madrid second leg through suspension, but is available again this weekend.

Dominic Solanke was absent against Atleti with a minor hip issue and will hope to return, while Souza, who was not registered for the Champions League, should also be back in the squad.

Joao Palhinha is expected to be available after missing Wednesday’s game.

Cristian Romero, Conor Gallagher, Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie, who all returned on Wednesday, should remain in contention.

Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert and James Maddison remain sidelined, while Mohammed Kudus could return after the international break.

As for Nottingham Forest, they will be without Jair Cunha, John Victor, Nicolo Savona, Willy Boly and Chris Wood for this encounter.

Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest: Spurs must seize survival opportunity

This is a big encounter for Tottenham, one that could severely impact their Premier League status.

Spurs currently find themselves in 16th place, a single point above both Nottingham Forest in 17th and West Ham United in 18th.

Sunday’s encounter now allows Tottenham to directly affect their own fate, as a victory could see them stay clear of the relegation zone.

It is a must-win match for Tudor’s men and could help the former Juventus manager ease some pressure.

There is no denying that while good results over Liverpool and Atletico Madrid have bought him some time, a defeat against Forest will only invite pressure, especially over the international break.

A worrying look at Tottenham’s last five results against Nottingham Forest ahead of six-point clash

A worrying look at Tottenham's last five results against Nottingham Forest ahead of six-point clash - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur need a victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, but achieving this could prove difficult based on the recent history between the teams.

If you can’t beat them, join them. Use that logic and all of a sudden it makes sense as to why Ange Postecoglou decided to take the Nottingham Forest job

Even though Tottenham Hotspur have defeated Forest four times since the East Midland club’s return to the Premier League, their recent record against them is quite poor.

Let’s take a look at the last five times the clubs have locked horns and what that means ahead of their next clash.

Tottenham’s past five matches against Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur – December 15, 2023

Postecoglou was the man in charge last time Spurs won at the City Ground and Richarlison is the man who opened the scoring. More than two years later, the Brazilian is still proving to be important for his club, having bagged a late equaliser against Liverpool.

Spurs 3-1 Nottingham Forest – April 7, 2024

Tottenham’s most recent victory over Forest occurred after a rare 6pm Sunday kick off. The hosts were helped by a Murrilo own goal in the first half and despite a response from Chris Wood, Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro wrapped up the win. It will certainly be interesting to see if the Dutchman starts this time around, with Kevin Danso playing well against Liverpool.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Nottingham Forest 1-0 Tottenham – December 26, 2024

Nottingham Forest had lost eight of their past 11 matches in all competitions… then they played Tottenham. Anthony Elaga scored in the 28th minute and the away team had nothing to offer, causing them to walk away with nothing. In fairness, the Spurs lineup was not great that day. The less we say about the Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray centre-back partnership, the better.

Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Forest – April 21, 2025

This fixture saw Nottingham Forest complete a Premier League double over Spurs for the first time since the ‘90s. It was pretty much over minutes after it started, with early goals scored by Elliot Anderson and Wood. Richarlison gave Tottenham a chance to get back in the game with an 87th minute strike, but the match ended in defeat. Fast forward one month though…

Nottingham Forest 3-0 Spurs – December 14, 2025

This absolutely rotten display will still be fresh in the minds of Tottenham supporters. Guglielmo Vicario was dreadful that day and there was a big debate about who was at fault when the Italian played a pass to Gray, when he was already being marked. Spurs were truly awful and got thrashed by a team who flirting with the relegation zone.

Spurs have to break the pattern against Nottingham Forest

Tottenham have lost to a lot of teams over the past two seasons, but Forest appear to pose a particular problem.

Spurs cannot let this continue, because a defeat on Sunday would put them at serious risk of going down. However, a win would do the exact opposite.

Richarlison clearly likes a goal against Forest and he could be key again as Igor Tudor looks for his first victory as the Tottenham manager.

This is arguably the biggest game of the club’s season and every player needs to give 100 per cent to get the three points.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur will be aiming to build momentum this weekend, with Igor Tudor expected to make key calls as Spurs prepare to face Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham Hotspur will now be looking to build on their victory over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday when they take to the pitch this weekend to face Nottingham Forest.

When the two sides last met earlier in the season, it was Forest who came out on top, beating Tottenham 3-0 at the City Ground.

Spurs will be hoping for revenge, and should they secure a win of their own, they will compound Forest’s misery this season, leaving them firmly in the relegation scrap.

It is an all-important six-pointer in the race for Premier League survival, with the winners giving themselves some daylight from 18th place.

With that in mind, we have now attempted to predict how Igor Tudor might line up against Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham predicted XI vs Nottingham Forest: Igor Tudor selection decisions

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: We do not expect to see any changes in goal for this clash, and, as such, Vicario should start.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Right-back – Pedro Porro: We should still see Porro feature, despite Spurs having more options with Destiny Udogie now back fit.

Centre-back – Cristian Romero: The Argentine returned to Tottenham’s XI on Wednesday following a concussion injury and should continue here.

Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: We expect to see a back four on Sunday, which should see van de Ven line up alongside Romero.

Left-back – Djed Spence: With Udogie still working his way back to full fitness, we do not expect him to start, so Spence should fill in on the left against his former side.

Right winger – Mathys Tel: The Frenchman was a livewire for Spurs on the left against Atleti, with his direct approach showing a willingness to make things happen. He grabbed an assist last week and should be in position to start again, but maybe this time from the right.

Centre midfielder – Archie Gray: The youngster has continued to impress in the middle of the park. Gray even put in one of his finest displays against Atleti, and it is difficult to see how he does not start in midfield on Sunday.

Centre midfielder – Pape Matar Sarr: If Gray starts, then Sarr is expected to partner him, given how well they have worked together as a pair, complementing each other.

Left-winger – Xavi Simons: The 22-year-old looked to have found form at the right time for Tottenham following an impressive display against Diego Simeone’s side. Simons grabbed two goals and created chances, and the hope is that he can produce a similar performance against Forest.

Striker – Dominic Solanke: The Englishman missed out against Atleti because of a minor injury and, if passed fit, could start here.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans will feel optimistic about the big game on Sunday after seeing what Opta’s Supercomputer has said about their chances of beating Nottingham Forest.

There is a definite shift in mood at Tottenham over the last few days after a severely depleted Spurs side earned a draw at Anfield and beat Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League tie on Wednesday.

Igor Tudor sees signs that his side may have turned a corner, and a weight is now lifted off the Croat’s shoulders after he registered his first win in North London.

All focus now shifts to the relegation six-pointer on Sunday, with the Lilywhites now going into the big clash with momentum.

Opta considers Tottenham big favourites to beat Nottingham Forest

Even though Spurs are yet to win a single Premier League game in 2026, Opta’s Supercomputer considers them major favourites for the clash against Forest.

The data analysis platform has given Tottenham a 48.9 per cent chance of picking up three points against the Midlands side, which will be enough for Tudor’s men to move four points clear of their relegation rivals.

In contrast, Forest have been handed just a 25.4 per cent chance of consigning Spurs to yet another defeat at home, while the draw is deemed around equally as likely at 25.7 per cent.

Tudor makes a big claim ahead of Forest showdown

While the media is building the upcoming clash as a direct showdown which could dictate who goes down, the Tottenham boss is not convinced that is the case.

Description

Nottingham Forest’s approach ahead of their clash with Tottenham has raised eyebrows, with a clear decision made despite their ongoing European commitments.

Both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to avoid the drop this season as they remain very close to the relegation zone.

Spurs currently sit on 30 points and are 16th in the Premier League table, while Forest are on 29 points in 17th, making their clash on Sunday all the more important.

The winner of that encounter is sure to give themselves some respite as they continue to push for Premier League survival this term.

Nottingham Forest rotation signals priority before Tottenham clash

Nottingham Forest, however, had European commitments before they take to the pitch against Spurs on Sunday.

One ordinarily would have believed that Forest featuring away from home would give Spurs an edge this weekend, but Viktor Pereira’s latest selection showed where his priority lies.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Forest boss opted to ring the changes in his side’s clash with FC Midtjylland.

The Tricky Trees were a goal down and needed to turn the tie around to progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, but Pereira still chose to rotate his side.

The Forest manager dropped eight first-team players who started against Fulham in preparation for Sunday’s game against Tottenham.

The likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Elliot Anderson and Igor Jesus were all named on the bench, alongside Neco Williams, Murillo, Sels, and Ola Aina.

Despite this, Forest did manage to overturn the scoreline and book a place in the quarters via penalties. However, this meant playing 30 minutes of extra time, and most of Forest’s key players did end up having to play 45 minutes or so. Spurs will hope that the travel and short game time will at least add some level of fatigue to Sunday’s six-pointer.

Igor Tudor approach differs as Spurs build momentum

While Forest have rested their players, Igor Tudor opted for a different approach in Spurs’ Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

The Tottenham manager named a strong side as Spurs looked to overturn a three-goal deficit following their 5-2 defeat to Atleti in the first leg.

Spurs did manage a victory, even though they were knocked out of the Champions League, and are set to go into the clash against Forest in high spirits.

Randal Kolo Muani equals unlikely Tottenham Champions League record - Spurs Web
Description

Randal Kolo Muani has been quietly impressive in the Champions League for Tottenham Hotspur this season, despite a lack of Premier League goals.

On the whole, the Frenchman has failed to hit the expected heights during his loan spell at Tottenham, having found the back of the net just once in 22 Premier League outings.

Reports widely indicate that Spurs have no intention of purchasing Kolo Muani permanently from PSG in the summer.

However, the 26-year-old has quietly been delivering the goods in the Champions League, and he has now equalled a record for the Lilywhites.

Randal Kolo Muani has joint most goals in debut Champions League season for Tottenham

The France international opened the scoring on Wednesday against Atletico Madrid, getting on the end of Mathys Tel’s cross and burying an unchallenged header into the side netting.

That means that Kolo Muani has now scored four times in the Champions League this season to go with his two assists in nine appearances.

Squawka have now revealed that the striker has now equalled the tally of Peter Crouch and Gareth Bale, who held the record for the most goals in their first Champions League campaign with Spurs.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Can Spurs have a change of heart regarding Kolo Muani?

Tudor was a fan of Kolo Muani while working with the striker at Juventus, and it’s perhaps not a big surprise that he is playing a lot under the Croat.

The forward may still have a chance to convince Tottenham to buy him if he has a strong end to the season.
