The Tottenham striker and the Fulham boss had a long chat on the pitch after the two Premier League clubs battled on Sunday afternoon

Fulham boss Marco Silva has opened up on what he said to Richarlison during a lengthy conversation between the two men after Tottenham's defeat at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

Spurs fell to another loss in the Premier League at the weekend, ensuring they are yet to win in the competition in 2026 and have only picked up four points since the turn of the year. One positive from Sunday's 2-1 derby defeat at Fulham was Richarlison getting back among the goals with a second half header at the back post from Archie Gray's cross.

In doing so, the 28-year-old became the first Brazilian player to score 20 headed goals in the Premier League with former Spurs midfielder and later assistant manager Gus Poyet the only South American to net more in the competition with 21.

After the game, Richarlison and Silva shared an embrace and a long conversation on the pitch. The Portuguese coach managed the Brazil international at both Watford and Everton and he was asked in his press conference at Craven Cottage what he had said to the Tottenham striker.

"I think it's not just about football, it's about his life as well. I know that it's an important moment in this person's life," he said. "He has a baby now, but of course he's enjoying these type of things in his own life. I think it's very important for him in this type of situation.

"It was much more about his own life and if he's okay as you know. He was a special player for me. I brought him to this country and after for the second club as well.

"He's going to be always special. Our relationship was in both clubs, but it's going to be forever. Of course, I wish always the best for him, not against us. Unfortunately, he scored against us again, but I wish 100% the best for him because he's a top, top guy and when he's in his best, he's a top player."

Tottenham's interim manager Igor Tudor could face FA punishment after what he did in the aftermath of his side's woeful loss to Fulham

Igor Tudor faces potential FA sanctions following his post-match remarks after Tottenham's defeat to Fulham on Sunday afternoon. The north London outfit slipped further towards the relegation zone after conceding twice in the opening period at Craven Cottage.

Harry Wilson found the net within seven minutes before former Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi extended their advantage prior to half-time. Richarlison pulled one back for Spurs after the interval but it proved insufficient to spark a fightback and they ultimately suffered another setback.

Tudor, who remains without a Premier League victory since assuming interim control, was incensed and delivered some inflammatory comments following the final whistle. He criticised referee Thomas Bramall, labelling him twice as a 'home team referee' who 'doesn't understand football. '

The Croatian additionally branded Fulham forward Raul Jimenez as 'cheating' by shoving Radu Dragusin in the lead-up to Wilson's opener.

"I didn't like the referee today, too much of a home team referee," said the Croatian. "I didn't feel well with him. All the decisions were on their side.

"He doesn't understand football, the feeling of what is wrong and what is right.

"He [Jimenez] was not thinking about the ball, he was thinking how to cheat, he cheated the player, was pushing, it was cheating and it's a foul. Ninety-nine of 100 people will say it's a foul, it's so obvious."

Tudor's remarks appear to breach FA regulations, specifically Rule E3, which addresses improper conduct, offensive language or actions that bring the game into disrepute.

The governing body has yet to announce whether it will investigate Tudor's comments, though managers have faced sanctions for lesser offences previously. Penalties usually vary from formal warnings to substantial fines and touchline suspensions.

How the matter unfolds remains uncertain, though a financial penalty seems probable. Any additional disciplinary action against Tudor could further destabilise Tottenham's already troubled campaign.

football.london has approached the FA for comment.

Following the final whistle at Craven Cottage, he also addressed the increasing prospect of Premier League relegation, stating: "We need to find forces inside each of us. Where are we going to go?

"When we attack, we lack the quality to score the goals. I want to see everything more, more personality, more wish to do things. We were not good, lacked everything. Attacking and defending. Fulham were much better.

"Of course it is a confidence problem, it's not about systems. I don't want to speak about relegation all the time. I give the same answer, my answer is always the same.

"We don't need to think about that [relegation], not because it cannot happen, but we must focus on growing mentality as a team, concentration, physically."

The Premier League have moved to delete one of its social media posts after it prompted widespread criticism for causing a pile-on

The Premier League have deleted a post involving Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from its social media platforms after it sparked widespread criticism including from the club itself.

Spurs are having a tough enough time of it as it is as they languish in 16th place in the Premier League table and have lost both matches under interim head coach Igor Tudor since Thomas Frank was sacked, meaning the north London club remain without a league victory in 2026.

Tudor's two matches in charge have brought controversial refereeing decisions over goals given or taken away for moments deemed or not to be involving pushing. Randal Kolo Muani's effort against Arsenal last week was ruled out for the merest of touches from the Frenchman on Gabriel's back while at Fulham on Sunday, Harry Wilson's goal stood despite Spurs defender Radu Dragusin appearing to be pushed out of the way of the ball by Raul Jimenez as he attempted to head it.

So with Spurs fans raging at the inconsistency of Premier League referees, they were left surprised on Sunday evening when the competition's own social media channels ran a video of a Vicario free-kick hit long into a channel of the pitch where nobody had ran. It had the caption "Just how the play was drawn up" while the video had the words on it "An interesting free-kick from Vicario" with a laughing emoji before the word "whoops" and another laughing emoji.

On X (formerly Twitter) alone, the post was viewed just under half a million times with the Premier League account having around 45million followers. The Premier League's TikTok account, which has just under 25million followers, is also said to have posted the clip.

FOLLOW OUR TOTTENHAM FB PAGE! Latest Spurs news, analysis and much more via our dedicated Facebook page

It encouraged somewhat of a pile-on for Vicario, who has struggled with his kicking at times since joining Tottenham, and it came on the same day that the Premier League social media accounts had posted ahead of the game Vicario's miskick earlier in the season against Fulham that led to Wilson's goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That was simply a highlight of a goal but the later post seemed more out of keeping with the tone of the league's account and it provoked widespread criticism from Spurs fans and sections of the media, seeming at odds with the Premier League's own messages during the season about player welfare and mental health.

football.london understands that Tottenham also got in touch with the Premier League at various levels about how poor the social media post was from an account that is meant to be the voice of the league, and that a league should not be mocking its own teams nor players.

On Monday morning, the post was deleted from across the Premier League's various social media accounts. The Premier League has been approached for comment.

Here are our Tottenham talking points after their 2-1 defeat at Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday left them stuck in the relegation battle

What to do with a team like Tottenham Hotspur - a team that cannot defend, cannot attack and has to turn to youngsters to lead them?

This is the worst version of Spurs to have existed in decades. There have been some poor Tottenham sides over the years but they all had a superstar or two to pull them out of trouble. This one does not.

The travelling fans sang such ditties as 'We want our Tottenham back', 'You're not fit to wear this shirt' and 'We want ENIC out' in the minutes after Alex Iwobi was given the freedom of Craven Cottage on Sunday to side-foot a shot from outside the box and into the net via the left-hand post.

Igor Tudor was brought in to fix the problems of Thomas Frank, who was brought in to fix the problems of Ange Postecoglou, who was brought in to fix the problems of the three head coaches in the dugout in the six months before that. You can see the trend. There are always problems at Spurs but this is something else.

What will concern both Tudor, who remains without his trusted assistant coach Ivan Javorcic, and Tottenham is that there has been no instant lift to performances or the style of play.

Opposition goalkeepers could still take part in 'Bring your kids to work day' and not worry one bit about the little ones getting hit by a football.

It's somewhat ironic that Tudor told football.london on Thursday that he had not seen his friend Antonio Conte's explosive final press conference at the club three years ago this very month, because his own effort after the defeat at Fulham on Sunday contained similar themes only with less rage and use of the word 'alibi'.

Spurs' players are treading dangerously close to the precipice of relegation and appear to have their fingers stuck firmly in their ears, unable to hear the warnings.

It's perhaps a club thing. The 'R word' is not one to be uttered around Hotspur Way and the team appears to play with that mindset. There is no sense of danger, no need to scrap and claw away from what lies beneath.

On Sunday afternoon, alongside the River Thames, Fulham joined the ever-growing list of clubs that Tottenham have made look like world beaters. Yet simple foundations were key to Marco Silva's side's success.

They fought for every ball and, just as importantly the second ball and they moved that spherical thing forward, along the floor and in the direction of the opposition goal.

Tottenham did very little of that. They are not competing for second balls, the bare minimum asked of any team whether title challengers or relegation battlers.

They were not helped by refereeing decisions or Tudor's formation, which unsuccessfully tried to hammer various square pegs into round holes. However, it is the basics that are missing from a Spurs side that still appears to have no structure or plan at either end of the pitch and therefore no belief in itself.

It's now 10 Premier League games without a win for Spurs, their joint longest winless streak in the competition, matching a run way back in 1994 under Ossie Ardiles. They are incredibly fortunate that every other team around them also lost during a weekend which really showed why the bottom half are the bottom half.

"It's a complicated situation, a lot of problems, I cannot tell you nothing new. Nothing new," Tudor said in his post-match press conference. "We need to find the voices inside each of us, I said to the players, ‘it's always what you're going to do, what you want to do with yourself,’ you know? More personality, more wish to do before reacting, plenty of things and a lot of things.

"We lack when we attack, we are lacking the quality to score the goal, we are lacking in the middle to run and we are lacking behind to stay there to suffer and not concede the goal. So, an amazing situation. Amazing."

It's amazing that Tottenham have allowed themselves to get into this situation. Whether that falls upon the players, their former head coach or the current one who looks fed up already or the powers-that-be that were complacent enough to believe that no short-term options would have helped steer Spurs away from this looming disaster.

Too much hope is being placed on the injured players to return before the season ends as if any evidence over the past 18 months has shown that is a route that pays off. Even Spurs' Europa League triumph at the end of last season was managed amid further injuries arriving on top of the previous one.

Tottenham are a club constantly looking at what might happen in the future, whether that's signing young players with potential, hoping other clubs fall foul of PSR rules and now hoping injured players return. They're always looking at the horizon while tripping up on what's right in front of them.

FOLLOW OUR TOTTENHAM FB PAGE! Latest Spurs news, analysis and much more via our dedicated Facebook page

The decisions made at the club in what was meant to be a new era have so far proved to be as disastrous as those that came before, if not more so, especially if that word nobody is allowed to say becomes a reality. The Tottenham fans will never forgive any of those involved if that comes to pass and nor should they.

The sight of two of Spurs' three most expensive signings this season - aside from the injured Mohammed Kudus - getting hooked before the hour mark said everything about the mess the club finds itself in.

Xavi Simons and Conor Gallagher, signed for a combined figure of £81million, offered almost nothing against Fulham. The Dutchman continues to be inconsistent with both his talent and his efforts and is utterly wasted on the left flank.

Both he and Dominic Solanke were among those watching Iwobi run into the space between them after Archie Gray had needed to step inside to cover another man.

Gallagher has left one club where he was frustrated at being played out of position on the right to join another that is asking him to do exactly the same. The England international does not lack desire, but asking him to play as a winger exposes limitations in that side of his game.

Spurs looked better without both of them which either speaks volumes about the tactics and starting line-up employed by Tudor or the transfer dealings of the north London club.

Fortune rarely aids those who are struggling. Right now for Tottenham, when push comes to shove, others can shove but they cannot even appear to push.

Radu Dragusin was clearly pushed out of the path of the ball by Raul Jimenez just seven minutes into Sunday's encounter as he flicked on the ball that was eventually sent back via Gallagher's head to Harry Wilson to hook home past Guglielmo Vicario.

Referee Thomas Bramall decided nothing was wrong with what Jimenez had done and VAR did not step in to deter him. It was the opposite of Randal Kolo Muani's grazing of fingers on Gabriel's back seven days previously only for the referee that day to signal for the foul and VAR again to decide that it was happy enough that there was no clear and obvious error to get him to take another look.

Yet Jimenez's push was far more than anything Kolo Muani produced. The inconsistency between decisions made by the referees is maddening and it infuriated Tudor on the touchline and two hours later in his press conference.

"Of course it's a foul. Ninety-nine of 100 people will say it's a foul, I believe, because it's so obvious, you know," said the 47-year-old. "Sometimes the criteria don't have consistency, last week what happened in our game against Arsenal, same thing, also one situation before, we conceded a goal, they didn't get a foul after they give, so, incredible."

When asked whether he got an explanation from the referee as to why it was given as a goal, as opposed to the one last week, Tudor, as part of the centre-back's union, launched into what could be called the 'cheat' rant.

"No, no, no, no, I was too nervous to speak with him, because it's so obvious, you know. Sometimes they don't understand it's enough, even small contact, you know, if it gives you advantage to score the goal, you need to cancel this, finish it," he said.

"It's not about a normal duel when he's soft, no, when he pushes with the hands and don't watch the ball, no. Sometimes it's just easy to get advantage.

"So, this is ridiculous to not give the foul, because the consequence is too big. It's not a small foul in the middle of the pitch, it's a goal after. So, there is a logic in that, so the referee, beautiful thing to keep playing here, let's play strong, duel, it's fantastic, I like it.

"But there is a logic, if the goal is, because he takes advantage, not thinking about football, he was not thinking about the ball, he was thinking how to cheat. So, he cheated the player with pushing and they scored the goal. So, it's a logic, it's a cheating and there's the foul.

"It's not the thing of duel and they want that here is a football is more, you know, tough and we like the duels, it's nothing with that. So, there was no logic in this decision and logic is above everything, after come other things."

Spurs look rudderless on the pitch. Their suspended captain is still sticking it to the club over the lack of available players by being...well unavailable.

Micky van de Ven is a talented player but he's not a captain at this point in his career. Right now the Dutchman is spending too much time sprinting around trying to cover for others and instead leaving huge gaps where he was meant to be.

To say his on-pitch relationship with Radu Dragusin is a work in progress would be a very kind way of putting it and nothing about the defence worked as a unit on Sunday, despite having both Joao Palhinha and Yves Bissouma patrolling in front of it.

As has been so often the case this season, a couple of first time passes are all that is required to cut open Tottenham's midfield and backline. How Fulham did not score four or five goals on Sunday mystified Marco Silva as much as it did the crowd inside Craven Cottage.

Yet the home side somehow allowed Spurs a way back into the game when Tudor changed things up by bringing on the width the initial system had required, mainly in the shape of Mathys Tel.

The 20-year-old has started just six Premier League games this season and he must be wondering what those in front of him in the pecking order have done in such a dreadful season to ensure that happened.

Yes, the young Frenchman can occasionally run into a cluster of people with his head down, mainly due to the lack of movement around him, but he's unpredictable for opposition defenders.

Tel can stay wide or he can cut inside and most of all he believes in himself to make things happen and that's something that few Spurs players can say right now.

On 66 minutes he dribbled his way down most of the left flank before picking out Gray's run and the teenager took a touch before chipping a pinpoint left-footed cross to Richarlison to head home at the back post. In doing so, he became the first Brazilian player to score 20 headed goals in the Premier League with former Spurs midfielder and later assistant manager Gus Poyet the only South American to net more with 21.

It was the only moment of attacking quality from Tottenham in the entire match and their sole shot on target from 13 attempts.

Once again it showed an embarrassing situation with a lack of leadership within the playing group that a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old had to step up and show the way by trying to grab the game by the scruff of the neck for their senior team-mates.

Gray has done it on a number of occasions this season: in Bodo, at Selhurst Park, against Newcastle and Manchester City this month and now at Craven Cottage.

He did have a torrid time as a left-back dealing often single-handedly with Wilson and Iwobi, but the returning Pedro Porro fared little better with Oscar Bobb, another player available in the January transfer window, and former Tottenham man Ryan Sessegnon.

It's worth noting that Sessegnon has played 24 matches so far this season for Fulham after escaping the injury hell that is Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite his struggles, Gray never shied away from receiving the ball or trying to drive up the pitch. At any other club he would have been brought through in the right way in the right position over the past two seasons. At Tottenham, he's had to learn on the job to do everything but what he will eventually excel at.

A bit of experience of other positions is helpful to round out a player's game, but two near full seasons of it places Gray's development at risk of being stunted.

In the final stages of the derby everything from Tottenham was just hopeful launches forward, other than Tel sending the lesser spotted Souza into the Fulham box before Pape Matar Sarr latched on to the Brazilian's scuffed pass and fired the ball into the side-netting.

Tudor even brought on Kevin Danso for Dragusin in the final moments in order to hurl the ball into the hosts' box after the Romanian had done his best impression of a Tyrannosaurus Rex taking long throws.

Richarlison battled for everything and finally gave Calvin Bassey a fight or two after the big defender had bullied Kolo Muani for much of the game alongside the disappointing Solanke.

There was a last-gasp shot from Palhinha in the final seconds from a deep free-kick but it was blocked in front of goal and it would have been an undeserved leveller anyway for the visitors.

Tudor has a huge job on his hands. The Tottenham players have little confidence and they're getting progressively worse over the course of the season.

Vicario, for example, made a big save from Emile Smith-Rowe but his kicking was abysmal at times. The Italian is one of the bigger voices in the dressing room but if he is struggling, who is there to pick him up?

Tottenham look like a club where it is difficult to pinpoint strong leadership both on the pitch or off of it. It's a club teetering on the edge and it's going to take someone strong to grab it before it topples off the Premier League mantlepiece.

Bissouma said after the game that the players "just need to shut up and work hard" and Thursday brings a chance to do exactly that with huge derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Crystal Palace.

Oliver Glasner's men have only won two Premier League games in 2026 but that's still two more than Spurs have managed. Tottenham have racked up just four points since the turn of the year.

Brennan Johnson will return to north London off the back of his first assist for Palace in their 2-1 defeat at Manchester United. That game turned on centre-back Maxence Lacroix's red card and Spurs will at least not have to face the Frenchman, who has started all bar one Premier League game this season for the Eagles.

Tottenham will be told they need to treat this game like a cup final but they should be doing that for every game. St Totteringham's Day has now come and gone, sooner than ever before, with 35 points between the two sides and long gone are the consecutive years when Spurs would finish above their north London counterparts.

Djed Spence missed Sunday's game with soreness in his calf but Tudor will need far more than one returning full-back to take Tottenham out of turmoil and he knows it.

This squad needs characters and personality, people who will fight for everything on the pitch and not look to others to make things happen. Spurs have been aware of this for some time, hence the move for Andy Robertson, but this is buying potential rather than ready-made players coming home to roost.

Tudor pointed to people like Richarlison, Porro and Danso as being important returnees but he knows he needs more at a club that is a mess.

"The problems are much bigger, the problems are much bigger. It's not enough, it's not enough," the Croatian said of any positives in this latest performance.

"The situation was complicated because we know how many players [are out]. Now the players are coming back. One thing is when you have a complete team then you can choose.

"One situation is when you cannot choose, you know, because you need to choose the quality to score the goal. You need to have quality players to score the goal otherwise you cannot defend all the time, but when you are in a bad moment, you put the players, but then you lack defending and running and winning the duels.

"So, what to do? That's the big question in the future to choose what is right for this team. To find a formula of what we want to be and what we can be in this moment. That’s very difficult to understand, that’s the thing.

"To understand because you have the quality, but also football is a sport of running and duels. I have a sensation that Fulham players were always running and even with the brain, they arrive before us, they predict and we are always late on everything. That’s the problem."

Even if he is not entirely blameless, Tudor is just another Tottenham head coach trying to get a tune out of a broken instrument.

The players need to show they truly care about this once great club, one that they have played their part, along with others, in dragging down to new depths.

This is not Tottenham Hotspur as we knew it. It's a pale imitation of the grand old team that once plied its trade under the name.

There are 10 games left to give everything. The Champions League is a shiny distraction. Make no mistake, all focus and energy must be placed upon ensuring Spurs are a top flight club next season.

Someone must stand above the rest and point the way. The long-term future of Tottenham Hotspur might just depend on it.

Here's every single word the Tottenham interim head coach said after the defeat at Fulham on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League

Igor Tudor did not hold back during his press conference after Tottenham's 2-1 defeat at Fulham on Sunday in the Premier League.

Spurs found themselves behind just seven minutes into their latest derby after Harry Wilson hooked home the ball after Conor Gallagher deflected a cross to him at the back post. Spurs were looking for a foul for a Raul Jimenez push on Radu Dragusin but the officials and a VAR check decided that unlike Randal Kolo Muani's ruled out strike last weekend against Arsenal, this was not a push.

There was no debating Fulham's second goal after Alex Iwobi struck a side-footed effort from distance in off the bottom of the left-hand post with all the time in the world to size up his effort as the Spurs players stood off and watched.

The Cottagers had a string of opportunities to extend their lead on either side of the break, but it was Tottenham who hit a goal back in the 66th minute when substitute Mathys Tel dribbled down the left, played in Archie Gray and the 19-year-old picked out Richarlison with a left-footed cross to head home.

Spurs huffed and puffed in the final stages and kicked and threw the ball into the Fulham box, but could only muster one effort into the side-netting from substitute Pape Matar Sarr. Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno was never really tested and Richarlison's goal proved to be their only effort on target all game.

Here's every single word Tudor said at his post-match press conference at Craven Cottage.

What did you make of your team's performance with only one shot on target?

Not enough, not enough. They were better, they deserved to win, nothing is smart to tell you in this moment. We need to forget this game and focus on training tomorrow. Difficult moment, difficult situation, but only way is to come tomorrow on the training and try to do better, better things.

For the first goal, does it look like a foul to you?

Of course it's a foul, I think. Nine out of 10 people will say it's a foul, I believe, because it's so obvious, you know. Sometimes the criteria don't have consistency, last week what happened in our game against Arsenal, same thing, also one situation before, we conceded a goal, they didn't get a foul after they give, so, incredible.

Did the referee explain why it was given as a goal, as opposed to the one last week?

No, no, no, no, I was too nervous to speak with him, because it's so obvious, you know. Sometimes they don't understand it's enough, even small contact, you know, if it gives you advantage to score the goal, you need to cancel this, finish it. It's not about normal duel when he's soft, no, when he pushes with the hands and don't watch the ball, no. Sometimes it's just easy to get advantage.

So, this is ridiculous to not give the foul, because the consequence is too big. It's not a small foul in the middle of the pitch, it's a goal after. So, there is a logic in that, so the referee, beautiful thing to keep playing here, let's play strong, duel, it's fantastic, I like it.

But there is a logic, if the goal is, because he take advantage, not thinking about football, he was not thinking about the ball, he was thinking how to cheat. So, he cheated the player with pushing and they scored the goal. So, it's a logic, it's a cheating and there's the foul.

It's not the thing of duel and they want that here is a football is more, you know, tough and we like the duels, it's nothing with that. So, there was no logic in this decision and logic is above everything, after come other things.

You said after Arsenal to forget about the match and said it again here, how worrying is it to be saying it again?

No, it's a complicated situation, a lot of problems, I cannot tell you nothing new. Nothing new. We need to find the voices inside each of us, I said to the players, ‘it's always what you're going to do, what you want to do with yourself,’ you know? More personality, more wish to do before reacting, plenty of things and a lot of things. We are lack when we attack, we are lacking of the quality to score the goal, we are lacking in the middle to run and we are lacking behind to stay there to suffer and not concede the goal. So, an amazing situation. Amazing.

Do you want to see more fight from your team?

I want to see everything more, everything more.

It's ten games now without a win, is confidence an issue in the dressing room now?

It's always about, of course it's a confidence problem.

How do you change that?

How we change? Tell me how we change.

Do you reflect on the system you picked, was it the right system?

It's not about system. System is not important at this moment. It's the last thing that is important is system.

If the form doesn't improve, do you think there is a real danger Spurs will be relegated?

I don't want to speak about relegation, but all the time I comment this and I always give the same answer, so I will not respond to the answer. My answer is always the same.

You seem downbeat, you spoke about wanting the team to have a small team mentality?

I was thinking small team in a positive way. Not in a negative way.

Do you think they demonstrated those positive signs today and are they demonstrating them?

The problems are much bigger, the problems are much bigger. It's not enough, it's not enough.

Richarlison came off the bench, is it him and characters like that who can help?

Of course they give something and of course we need that, Pedro also, when Kevin comes inside, personality and quality, so it changes. They bring this of course. This is the key also to have the players who can give this to the team. The team needs, too much players they need the help from each other, so putting together, that's the situation.

Have you quickly realised in these two weeks who you can rely on and who you cannot rely on in this squad?

No, the situation was complicated because we know how many players (are out). Now the players are coming back. One thing is when you have a complete team then you can choose. One situation is when you cannot choose, you know, because you need to choose the quality to score the goal. You need to have quality players to score the goal otherwise you cannot defend all the time, but when you are in a bad moment, you put the players, but then you lack of defending and running and winning the duels.

So, what to do? That's the big question in the future to choose what is right for this team. To find a formula of what we want to be and what we can be in this moment. Description

Tottenham fell to another defeat in the Premier League, losing away at Fulham, despite attempting to make a late comeback at Craven Cottage in Igor Tudor's second match in charge.

Tottenham interim boss Igor Tudor has blasted his team's performance as it "lacked everything" in their defeat away at Fulham on Sunday afternoon. Spurs went behind after just seven minutes as Harry Wilson scored from close-range, despite Spurs protests for a push on Radu Dragusin.

That lead was later doubled by Alex Iwobi before half-time, with Tottenham fans booing the team off at the break. There was a response after the hour mark as Richarlison popped up at the back post to head in an Archie Gray cross, but it wasn't enough to claw back a point.

"We were not good, lacked everything," Tudor told the press after the match on his side's display. "Attacking and defending. Fulham were much better. There are problems here, big problems. We need to stay calm, believe in what we are doing in training, and get out, staying all together.

"These are not things to speak outside, we speak in the dressing room. The problems are more complex [than attitude and commitment] second half was better, but the first half was not enough."

While those issues are clearly present, Tottenham fans will be hoping that they can find quick solutions to bring an end to their rotten run of form. They are now without a win in ten Premier League games, the joint-longest in the club's history, the previous one being in 1994.

While Tottenham have hardly performed well, they may be cursing their luck, too. There was fume from Tudor when he believed that Radu Dragusin was fouled for a push in the back from Raul Jimenez, right before Wilson struck the opener, but VAR stuck with the onfield decision of goal.

That was in stark contrast to a goal Tottenham had disallowed a week earlier in the North London Derby, when Gabriel Magalhaes went to ground for a push in the back. On the foul, Tudor was clear on his thoughts as he said: "Of course it's a foul. Incredible mistake."

Defeat for Tottenham still leaves them in the relegation conversation, though defeat for Nottingham Forest and West Ham keeps the gap at four points. Tudor believes that thoughts surrounding relegation must be banished, with focus on the midweek clash with Crystal Palace.

"We are just thinking about the next game," he said. "We don't need to think about that [relegation] not because it cannot happen, but we must focus on growing mentality as a team, concentration, physically. These are the only goals we must have."

Tottenham fell to a 2-1 away loss against Fulham on Sunday afternoon, dragging them into the fight for survival

Things are not getting better for Tottenham Hotspur with defeat against Fulham leaving them still looking over their shoulder towards the Premier League relegation zone.

Igor Tudor’s side found themselves 2-0 down at half-time at Craven Cottage thanks to goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi. Richarlison reduced the deficit to 2-1 in the 66th minute, but Spurs were unable to complete the comeback.

The result leaves them in 16th place in the Premier League table, just four points clear of the drop zone. Spurs will hope to avoid being dragged further into the relegation zone over the next few weeks with fixtures in all competitions coming thick and fast.

With so much riding on results both at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and elsewhere, eyes will be on how other teams in and around the bottom half of the table are getting on.

With that in mind, here’s a look at what’s on the horizon for Spurs and some of their Premier League rivals for the next five games...

Leeds United (15th place, 31 points)

Vs Sunderland (H) - Tues 3 March (7:30pm) - Premier League

Vs Norwich (H) - Sun 8 March (4:30pm) - FA Cup

Vs Crystal Palace (A) - Sun 15 March (2pm) - Premier League

Vs Brentford (H) - Sat 21 March (8pm) - Premier League

Vs Man United (A) - Sat 11 April - Premier League

There’s no real standout game for Leeds over the next few weeks, until they resume their rivalry with a resurgent Manchester United after the international break. Leeds will be hoping to use the run of fixtures to move them further away from the bottom three.

Tottenham (16th place, 29 points)

Vs Crystal Palace (H) - Thurs 5 March (8pm) - Premier League

Vs Atletico Madrid (A) - Tues 10 March (8pm) - Champions League

Vs Liverpool (A) - Sun 15 March (5.30pm) - Premier League

Vs Atletico Madrid (A) - Weds 18 March (8pm) - Champions League

Vs Nottingham Forest (H) - Sun 22 March (2:15pm) - Premier League

There are a few big games coming up for Tottenham in the next few weeks, the trip to Liverpool is sandwiched between their Champions League round of 16 clash against Real Madrid, although Arne Slot’s team will be in a similar situation. The clash against Forest after the second leg could be a crucial one in the fight for survival.

Nottingham Forest (17th place, 27 points)

Vs Man City (A) - Weds 4 March (7:30pm) - Premier League

Vs Midtylland (H) - Thurs 12 March (8pm) - Europa League

Vs Fulham (H) - Sun 15 March (2pm) - Premier League

Vs Midtylland (A) - Thurs 19 March (5:45pm) - Europa League

Vs Tottenham (A) - Sun 22 March (2:15pm) - Premier League

Like Spurs, Forest are also in European action this month with their clash against Midtylland falling either side of a home game against Fulham. Then follows the crucial clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs may also be hoping that Man City can do them a favour midweek.

West Ham (18th place, 25 points)

Vs Fulham (A) - Weds 4 March (7:30pm) - Premier League

Vs Brentford (H) - Mon 9 March (7:30pm) - FA Cup

Vs Man City (H) - Sat 14 March (8pm) - Premier League

Vs Aston Villa (A) - Sun 22 March (2:15pm) - Premier League

Vs Wolves (H) - Sat 11 April - Premier League

It’s a mixed bag for West Ham, they may be targeting games against Fulham, Brentford and Wolves. Villa have had some struggles of their own in recent weeks, though, with the Hammers looking to take advantage. Man City could again do Spurs a favour when they travel to the London Stadium in the middle of March.

Here are our Tottenham player ratings after their defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon

Tottenham fell to a 2-1 defeat at Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon and here are our Spurs player ratings.

With teams around them having lost on Saturday Spurs wanted to grab a point or three at Craven Cottage to try to move away from the drop zone and the threat of relegation. However, this is a fixture that Tottenham have struggled in over the years.

Igor Tudor was missing Djed Spence with a minor calf issue but had a couple of injured players back in contention in Pedro Porro and Kevin Danso with the Spaniard comes back in the starting line-up at right-back while the Austria international was on the bench.

Dominic Solanke was back in the starting line-up at Craven Cottage alongside Randal Kolo Muani, who was one of the few Tottenham players to come out of last weekend's north London derby defeat with any credit.

Harry Wilson opened the scoring for the hosts just seven minutes in after hooking home the ball after Conor Gallagher deflected a cross to him at the back post. Spurs were looking for a foul for a push on Radu Dragusin but VAR decided that unlike Kolo Muani's ruled out derby strike last weekend, this was not a push.

There was no question about Fulham's second goal though after Alex Iwobi hit a side-footed effort from distance in off the bottom of the left-hand post with all the time in the world to hit it.

Fulham had a string of chances to extend their lead but the visitors grabbed a goal back in the 66th minute when substitute Mathys Tel dribbled down the left, played in Archie Gray and the 19-year-old picked out Richarlison to head home.

Spurs huffed and puffed in the final stages but could only muster an effort into the side-netting from substitute Pape Matar Sarr with Fulham keeper Bernd Leno never really tested and Richarlison's goal their only effort on target all game.

Here are our Tottenham player ratings:

Guglielmo Vicario

Couldn't do much about Wilson's close range half-volley but should have done better with Iwobi's straight effort from distance. His kicking was all over the place. Did make a terrific save to deny Smith Rowe which brought him up a point. 5

Pedro Porro

Back in the team and he tried to make things happen down the right. Took plenty of whacks throughout but struggled with his defending. 5

Radu Dragusin

The partnership with Van de Ven just doesn't seem to work. Neither leads the other or know where each other are at any point. 4

Micky van de Ven

All over the place at times as he tried to do too much and left himself out of position. Made a great block to deny Jimenez though. 5

Archie Gray

Shaky and left exposed at times on the left and lost Wilson for the goal and had no help for Iwobi's. However, the 19-year-old's run and left-footed cross for Richarlison's goal was terrific. The teenager tried to drive the team on in the final 20 minutes and has more of a captain's mentality than many of the senior figures in this squad. 6

Conor Gallagher

Unfortunate to deflect the ball to Wilson for the opener but was a square peg trying to fit into a round hole on the right and looked lost. 3

Yves Bissouma

Certainly not one of Spurs' worst players but no real cohesion with Palhinha. 5

Joao Palhinha

Back in the midfield and battled away. The only one who seemed to compete for second balls in the centre of the pitch. 6

Xavi Simons

Made no attempt to come inside to stop Iwobi shooting and he offered very little before being hooked on the hour. 3

Randal Kolo Muani

Had a half chance in the first half but was mostly bullied by Bassey throughout the game. 4

Dominic Solanke

Stopped tracking Iwobi back for the second Fulham goal but looked more likely to make something happen in the opening 45 minutes than others. Faded badly in the second half and was a passenger at times. 4

Subs

Richarlison

Back among the goals after finding space to head home Gray's cross. Gave Bassey a proper battle. 7

Pape Matar Sarr

Hit an effort into the side-netting before normal time was up and at least ran in the direction of the opposition goal. 6

Mathys Tel

Brought some positive forward momentum to the left flank and was heavily involved in Richarlison's goal. Sent Souza away in the 88th minute for a chance. 7

Souza

Got into the Fulham box but scuffed his low cross. Tried to be take the team forward with Tel down the left in the final 10 minutes. N/A

Kevin Danso

Brought on pretty much to take long throws. N/A

Tottenham get instant VAR verdict after Fulham controversy left Igor Tudor furious

Tottenham get instant VAR verdict after Fulham controversy left Igor Tudor furious - Football London
Description

Tottenham went behind against Fulham on Sunday through a close-range Harry Wilson strike, but there was some controversy over the referee's call that could've disallowed the goal.

Tottenham interim coach Igor Tudor cut a frustrated figure on the touchline at Craven Cottage as his side fell behind against Fulham in controversial circumstances. It took just seven minutes for the home side to take the lead, as Raul Jimenez won a header, towering over Radu Dragusin, and finding Harry Wilson.

The in-form Welshman didn't turn down the opportunity, striking from close-range to continue his fine scoring run, and putting Spurs into another ominous position. However, the Lilywhites may have felt aggrieved for how they fell behind against Fulham, with a referee decision not going in their favour.

Jimenez appeared to push Dragusin in the back to win the header that led to the goal, but after a review from VAR, no foul was given. That left Tudor furious when he was in discussion with the fourth official, clearly gesturing a pushing motion, especially considering that Tottenham had a goal disallowed for a similar offence in the North London Derby last week.

The Premier League Match Centre explained the decision, posting on X: "The referee’s call of goal was checked and confirmed by VAR – with it deemed the contact by Jiménez on Drăgușin did not meet the threshold for a foul."

Former Premier League goalkeeper Rob Green was on Sky Sports discussing the decision as it happened, and said: "Is it a push? There is no real foul there, I cannot see this being overturned."

He then went on to suggest why it was different to the decision the previous week, saying: "Dragusin knows he is caught under it - Tudor is asking for consistency, but it is a completely different situation to last week." That won't bring much comfort to Tottenham fans, however, having felt hard done by on both occasions.

Tottenham to spend transfer war chest and take unprecedented action after player complaint

Tottenham to spend transfer war chest and take unprecedented action after player complaint - Football London
Description

Tottenham are looking ahead to the summer transfer window to help improve the squad, with the need for some major moves to pull them out of consecutive seasons of difficulty in the Premier League.

While Tottenham Hotspur have had their struggles on the pitch, their off-pitch performance could see the hierarchy spend big in the summer transfer window with a clear change in approach. It comes as Spurs have struggled in consecutive seasons in the Premier League, finishing 17th last season, and in danger of repeating that feat or worse this season.

Injuries have been a clear problem, but there have also been questions surrounding the investment strategy at the club in recent years. Under Daniel Levy, Tottenham were praised for how well they were run financially, especially with their wage structure.

However, this didn't always translate to success on the pitch, but with a change behind the scenes in that time since, the Lewis family have made it clear that they want a new way of running the club. There have been early signs of that in the past two transfer windows, with the signings of Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Conor Gallagher in particular.

With that in mind, The Guardian reports that Tottenham are planning to scrap their wage structure this summer as part of a major overhaul. It's claimed that the club recognise that the reluctance to offer higher wages has seen them fall behind their competitors in the Premier League.

The most recent accounts for Tottenham, which were 2023/24, had the wage bill set at £222million, almost half of Manchester City's at £413m. Studies have suggested a positive correlation between league finish and wages, much more than transfer spend, showing where Spurs need to improve.

The question remains over whether they can attract the right type of players, rather than just throwing wages at players, but the lack of player investment has been a complaint from the fans in recent seasons. While a summer of investment is expected, work may need to be done to keep some key players in the current squad happy.

Cristian Romero has been vocal on social media over his frustrations with those at the top of the club, while it's unclear how the rest of the players feel about their long-term futures at the club. One thing is clear, according to football finance expert Stefan Borson, and that's that some promises will need to be made to the current squad.

He told Football Insider: “I think there’s still a good chance that they get quite far in the Champions League, just because the way the draw has fallen. But the truth must be that they’re not going to be in a European competition next season, so that’s going to have an impact.

"I think it’s going to have an impact in terms of the players hanging around. They’re going to need promises. Look, it is possible that those promises are going to be made.

“They’re certainly going to have financially this season a fantastic year because they’ve managed to keep the wage bill under control. They’ve not spent hugely on football players. They’ve sort of tweaked the squad. They’ve got some compensation that they’ve ended up having to pay out to Frank. They’ve had the Champions League.”

On the finances, he added: "Overall, this season, I think financially it’s going to be really strong for them. It’s going to give them a bit of a war chest when it comes to squad cost ratios for next season and for the Uefa tests to the extent that they’re relevant next season.

“Of course, if they’re not in Europe, then they don’t need to worry about that. But I think the bottom line is, they’re going to have to spend some money this summer to keep the squad happy.”

It remains to be seen exactly who Tottenham could look to sign, and whether they will be able to convince them to make the switch, but the possible transfer war chest for the next manager could go a long way to helping them strengthen.
