West Ham warned Tottenham are the winners of Crystal Palace draw - 'huge' chance missed - Hammers News
Description

There would be no winner during the final Premier League clash of matchday 32; West Ham United and Crystal Palace playing out a tense 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park.

Former Upton Park frontman Dean Ashton, though, could not shake the feeling that a South London stalemate would have been greeted pretty warmly in the northern quarter of the capital.

Roberto de Zerbi remains confident Tottenham’s survival prospects, despite the nature of Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Brighton. One suspects the Italian would have bitten your arm off at the elbow if you had told him West Ham United would end the week only two points further ahead, rather than four.

Two points dropped or one point gained? 🤔

The so-called supercomputers at Opta have crunched the latest numbers, concluding that Tottenham have a 57 per cent chance of relegation as things stand.

The scales would have tipped far further in the Hammers’ favour, however, had Konstantinos Mavropanos or Taty Castellanos found a way past Dean Henderson on a night of few chances.

West Ham United fail to move four points clear of Tottenham

“On reflection, it does feel like a slight opportunity missed,” Ashton told Sky Sports. “It could have been so huge in terms of a dent to Tottenham.

“It feels like a tiny opportunity missed. West Ham had enough opportunities to get that goal, but Crystal Palace away as a fixture is not easy. So, a point has to be a positive.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

“There was no lack of fight. That’s important to mention.”

Chelsea loanee Axel Disasi recorded a fifth clean sheet in nine Premier League outings for his temporary employers. Mavropanos excelled again, while Mads Hermansen barely had a save to make.

Ashton’s frustration, though, lies with the fact that West Ham really should have gone in ahead at half-time. Castellanos saw an audacious, trademark volley cleared almost off the line by Maxence Lacroix. Mavropanos saw a thumping header denied brilliantly by Henderson moments later.

“Castellanos is unfortunate that it hits the defender. Otherwise, we are talking about a very, very well-executed overhead kick,” adds Ashton, who scored 19 goals for the Hammers before retiring aged 26 due to injury.

“You’ve got to give all the credit to Henderson. In his goalscoring form, I think Mavropanos would have fancied that.”

Jarrod Bowen reflects on hard-fought Selhurst Park stalemate

Pick your Man of the Match after Palace 0-0 West Ham!

“Probably a bit of both,” captain Jarrod Bowen said at full-time, admitting that the frustration was balanced out by the pride of another clean sheet. “[Palace] are a really good side, really good at home.

“We knew we would have to defend really well and we had some chances that, another day, could have gone in. A point, at the end of the day, I don’t think is the worst thing in the world.

“Quality is not going to get you out all the way. It’s team spirit, togetherness, and we [showed] that tonight. A clean sheet again. We had one against Wolves, another one tonight.

“We wanted to win but it wasn’t to be. We’ve got a big game Saturday [against Everton] that we want to win, as well.”

Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer issue ‘disaster’ verdict on Tottenham and West Ham relegation fight - Hammers News
Description

Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have shared the same verdict on Tottenham’s relegation fight with West Ham.

Spurs conceded a last-minute equaliser to Brighton on Saturday, failing to take their chance to escape the bottom three.

Relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and Leeds both won, while West Ham play against Crystal Palace on Monday.

Lineker and Shearer are now in agreement about Tottenham’s survival hopes in the final five games of the 2025/26 season.

Where will West Ham finish this season? 📈 And who will be relegated? ⬇️

Mind the gap, Tottenham Hotspur 😂

Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer share concern for Tottenham in relegation battle

Tottenham played relatively well against Brighton in Roberto De Zerbi’s second game in charge, but it was still not enough.

Georginio Rutter’s added-time equaliser felt like a significant blow to Spurs, as their winless run extended to 15 games.

“I thought Tottenham played really well yesterday,” ex-Spurs striker Gary Lineker said on his podcast with Alan Shearer and Micah Richards.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

“I think it’s the best performance I’ve seen from them for quite some time, but that was a devastating blow right at the end.”

Shearer then highlighted Tottenham’s defensive woes and the other results as reasons for their “disaster” weekend.

“As well as they play, they still give you chances,” he added. “And up to now, as we sit here recording this on Sunday afternoon, it’s been a disaster of a weekend for Spurs.”

Lineker continued: “It really has, and it was actually a very good game. There were some great goals scored in that 2-2 draw, some great goals.

“But they are serious favourites now to go down. Spurs in the Championship…”

Both legendary goal scorers are clearly concerned for Tottenham, which will be music to West Ham supporters’ ears.

Assuming West Ham stay up, would you rather see Arsenal bottle the league or Tottenham go down? 🤔

Tell us why in the comments… 👇

Meanwhile, former Manchester City defender Richards also issued a damning verdict on Spurs’ defending.

He could not believe some of the decision-making errors late in the game against Brighton, which ultimately came back to bite them.

“I have to agree with Al: some of the decisions when they were 2-1 up were mind-blowing… I can’t get on board with that,” Richards explained.

“They’re experienced players now, and I know they’re going through a difficult time, and confidence is massive in football, but some of the decisions were remarkable. They need to sort that out.”

Hopefully, the Hammers can add insult to injury on Monday by extending their gap to four points with a win over Palace.

Spurs would then be unable to climb out of the bottom three even if they beat Wolves next Saturday.

Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi warns West Ham with relegation battle prediction

Spurs boss De Zerbi warns West Ham he knows what's going to happen in relegation battle - Hammers News
Description

West Ham head to south London to take on Crystal Palace with a warning from Tottenham Hotspur boss Roberto De Zerbi ringing in their ears.

The Hammers have been in a four-way battle with bitter rivals Spurs, Forest and Leeds to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

But results this week have now made it what looks like a straight shootout between West Ham and Tottenham for survival.

Leeds are on 39 points after smashing Wolves while Forest are on 36 after beating Burnley with ease.

De Zerbi warns West Ham about what Spurs are about to do

Tottenham sit in the relegation zone on 31 points, one behind the Hammers – who face Palace on Monday night.

West Ham have been the hunters for the last four months, closing a 13-point gap to then leapfrog Tottenham.

How many points are we getting then? 😬

Feel free to tell me where I'm going wrong 😂

View Hammers-news

But now Nuno Espirito Santo’s side face a different pressure having become the hunted.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

How West Ham deal with that pressure will dictate who goes down because survival is in their own hands with six games to play.

But Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi has warned West Ham that he knows what is about to happen in the relegation battle.

The newly-appointed Italian has failed to win either of his first two games in charge of Tottenham.

As a result West Ham know they can afford to lose against Palace and still stay up as long as they match Tottenham’s results in the final five games.

However, De Zerbi has boldly warned the Hammers that Tottenham will win all five.

Bold De Zerbi says Tottenham will win all five

And he insists he is not being arrogant or delusional in making such a prediction.

“Now it’s difficult to hear my words, but if you watch the players, if you analyse the level of the players, I think we can win five games in a row,” De Zerbi told Sky Sports.

Any changes to this team? I wouldn’t drop KWP any time soon 👀

“Not to be arrogant, because I’m not arrogant, especially now.

“But we have enough qualities to fight and to win games in a row.”

That is some prediction and the kind of form Premier League champions struggle to put together, let alone relegation contenders.

Should Spurs prove their manager right, they will end up on 46 points.

Privately, West Ham are convinced eight points keeps them up from here.

Two wins and two draws, or three wins, would get that done and Nuno will be hoping three of them come on the road at Palace on Monday night.

Do that and West Ham will extend the gap to Spurs to four points with five to play.

With relegated Wolves away next, Tottenham will be confident of a first league win of 2026 soon.

But with tough assignments against the likes of Villa, Leeds and Chelsea to come, Tottenham will be hard-pressed to find many more.

While Spurs are at Wolves at the weekend, West Ham take on Everton at home at the weekend.

The Toffees suffered a blow in their dreams of Champions League qualification by failing to beat Brentford and losing to Liverpool.

Whether that means it is a good time to face David Moyes’ side remains to be seen.

West Ham may welcome Oliver Glasner explanation as he risks Spurs backlash - Hammers News
Description

West Ham will love an explanation provided by Oliver Glasner as he risks a backlash from Spurs ahead of two huge games in the Premier League relegation battle.

The Hammers and bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur are locked in what many feel is now a straight shootout to avoid the drop.

With Leeds on the brink of safety with a game against Wolves and Forest not far behind as they face Burnley, West Ham and Spurs are fighting to avoid joining both in the Championship.

West Ham put Premier League survival in their own hands by leapfrogging Tottenham with a 4-0 win over Wolves last weekend.

Glasner explanation will delight West Ham as he risks Spurs wrath

Spurs lost Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge at Sunderland last weekend and know they have to win at home to the league’s form team Brighton if they are to go back above the Hammers.

But West Ham’s next opponents Crystal Palace may have something to inadvertently say about that.

Who makes YOUR West Ham and Crystal Palace combined XI?

⚒️ 🆚 🦅

When the Hammers travel to Selhurst Park on Monday night they will know whether they need to win to go back above – or extend the gap to – Tottenham.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

And West Ham may welcome an explanation from Eagles boss Oliver Glasner as he risks a Spurs backlash.

West Ham and Glasner have history.

He was manager of Eintracht Frankfurt when they edged out the Hammers in a tempestuous Europa League semi-final four years ago.

Glasner and his side broke West Ham’s hearts over an ill-tempered two legs.

Ironically the Austrian was heavily linked with joining West Ham as a potential replacement for David Moyes but has been doing a wonderful job in south London instead.

Glasner allowed Palace players to party ahead of facing West Ham

Now West Ham fans may finally have reason to like Glasner after he admitted he gave his Palace stars permission to party into the night after they made it to the Conference League semi-finals.

West Ham were boosted and Spurs concerned as Palace stars let their hair down into the small hours in Italy after an aggregate win over Fiorentina.

How many points are we getting then? 😬

Feel free to tell me where I'm going wrong 😂

View Hammers-news

Tottenham fans have been worried about how that – and the fact Palace have a European semi-final to consider – might impact the performance of Glasner’s side against their relegation rivals West Ham.

But Glasner has been unapologetic to Tottenham, admitting he gave his players the green light to enjoy themselves ahead of facing the Hammers.

And in a rather ironic twist, Glasner referenced that run to Europa League glory when they beat West Ham as the reason he allowed Palace’s stars to party.

“This was the same thing (to go out and celebrate) that the Eintracht Frankfurt players asked when we won the quarter-final (in the Europa League in 2022 to set up a semi-final clash with West Ham),” Glasner explained.

“Hopefully the ending of the story will be the same.”

Those memories are painful for West Ham but Palace’s focus on Europe could heal old wounds if it helps keep Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the top flight – especially at Tottenham’s expense.

West Ham boost and Spurs concern as stars party into the night ahead of clash - Hammers News
Description

A cat may have been thrown amongst the pigeons in the battle for Premier League survival and it could benefit West Ham while hurting Spurs.

The Premier League relegation battle is looking increasingly like it will be a straight shootout between bitter rivals West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur.

Leeds are on the brink of safety with Wolves at home next while Forest, who face Burnley this weekend, are edging closer too.

The Hammers face Crystal Palace away on Monday night, by which time they will know what they have to do to either climb back out of the relegation zone again or increase the gap on Spurs depending on their result at home to Brighton.

West Ham joy and Spurs dread as Palace stars party

But there has been a potential major boost for West Ham and genuine Spurs concern as Crystal Palace stars celebrate making a European semi-final.

West Ham had their survival hopes enhanced as a top Palace duo suffered injuries in their Conference League quarter-final second leg clash away at Fiorentina overnight.

Who makes YOUR West Ham and Crystal Palace combined XI?

⚒️ 🆚 🦅

The Hammers would have been watching on nostalgically as Palace advanced to the semi-finals of the competition they won – by beating Fiorentina – three years ago.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

There is a much bigger prize at stake for West Ham and Tottenham now, though, in the form of Premier League survival.

And Palace may play a big part after Oliver Glasner permitted his players to let their hair down and party into the night.

Eagles stars, led by charismatic goalkeeper Dean Henderson, have been filmed – and were filming themselves – partying on the streets of Florence.

The Palace players were singing terrace songs about themselves and dancing around as they revelled in their 4-2 aggregate victory.

Where will West Ham finish this season? 📈 And who will be relegated? ⬇️

Mind the gap, Tottenham Hotspur 😂

The scenes will bring a smile to West Ham faces because not only is it a trip down memory lane, but it could mean Palace’s players might be compromised for the game on Monday night.

That will not go down well with Tottenham Hotspur, who know they must beat the Premier League’s form team Brighton if they are to climb above West Ham and hope Nuno Espirito Santo’s side don’t win at Selhurst.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side lost his first game in charge 1-0 at Sunderland as the Hammers won 4-0 against Wolves.

That put West Ham’s survival in their own hands, as they know they must now match Tottenham’s results – and can even afford one less – in the final six games in order to stay up.

West Ham’s hierarchy believe two wins and and two draws will be enough to survive, which would put the club on 40 points.

Facing a Palace side who are safe from relegation, have been partying hard and have one eye on a European semi-final gives the Irons a massive chance to get one of those wins.

The Hammers then have winnable games against Everton at home, Brentford away and Leeds at home in their remaining five.

All eyes on Nuno as the landscape changes for West Ham United in the relegation battle - Hammers News
Description

Nuno Espirito Santo has done an excellent job in turning West Ham United around, but he’s now set for his biggest challenge yet.

While Nuno’s reign at West Ham United did not get off to an amazing start, the former Wolves and Tottenham coach has pushed his team towards Premier League safety.

Indeed, after a dramatic upturn in performances, West Ham are now slight favourites to avoid relegation instead of Spurs.

Where will West Ham finish this season? 📈 And who will be relegated? ⬇️

Mind the gap, Tottenham Hotspur 😂

The Hammers sit two points ahead of their London rivals heading into this weekend’s fixtures, though that could change come Saturday night if Spurs get a positive result against Brighton.

As such, all eyes will be on Nuno’s approach in the final six games of the season.

Nuno must strike balance between attacking and defending at West Ham

There aren’t that many times this season where West Ham have been out of the bottom three.

They have largely been the chaser when it comes to battling against the drop. Now, they are the chased.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

This undoubtedly raises new challenges for the head coach. Nuno has often been accused of being too defensive as a manager, inviting pressure onto his team far too early in games.

Optimist or Realist? Share your number and defend it in the comments

That plan would be laced with risk. While Nuno was rewarded for a front-footed approach as West Ham beat Wolves on Friday night, it’s much easier to do that when you’re the ones chasing the pack with nothing to defend.

Having a points lead over Spurs (for now at least) poses an entirely different question. It would be foolish to go on the defensive and try to hold what they have, when taking the game to opposition has worked in recent weeks.

Points have been dropped from winning positions all season. Though the defensive line has improved in recent weeks, it would still be almighty risk to lean too heavily on them.

This is relatively newfound territory for Nuno here in east London, and it will be fascinating to see how he deals with it.

Alan Pardew: West Ham are proof of why Tottenham relegation ‘would be catastrophic’ - Hammers News
Description

Former West Ham United manager Alan Pardew knows from experience just how difficult it can be to bounce back from relegation out of the Premier League. A scenario now staring Tottenham Hotspur in the face.

Pardew would lose the play-off final to Crystal Palace a year after taking over from Glenn Roeder, before taking the Hammers back to the big time at the second attempt in 2005.

Jermain Defoe infamously handed in a transfer request before leaving West Ham United for arch rivals Tottenham midway through Pardew’s first campaign at Upton Park.

Where will West Ham finish this season? 📈 And who will be relegated? ⬇️

Mind the gap, Tottenham Hotspur 😂

Joe Cole made that emotional switch to Chelsea alongside Glen Johnson. Trevor Sinclair, David James, Paolo di Canio and Frederic Kanoute left in 2003, followed by Michael Carrick in 2004.

Alan Pardew predicts a Tottenham firesale if West Ham United survive at Spurs’ expense

Speaking on talkSPORT after West Ham thrashed Wolves on Friday night, dumping Spurs into the relegation zone at their expense, Pardew believes that a North London exodus would be the inevitable by-product of arguably the most shocking relegation of the 21st century.

“The one thing that relegation does is create a huge chasm in your finances, and the playing staff will definitely turn around,” says Pardew. “There’s no doubt about that.

“I experienced that when I inherited West Ham. We had Jermain Defoe, David James, Michael Carrick… all [players] who were going to move on eventually, which they did because they were obviously Premier League players.

“So, you do get a big turnaround.

“I still think for the long run of a club the size of Tottenham, it would be catastrophic to go down. You’ve really got to stay in this division.”

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

After posting annual losses of £104 million in February, West Ham made it clear that player sales would be needed in the event of relegation. It has been suggested that Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summervile would be sold, alongside the likes of Mateus Fernandes and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

If Tottenham finish 18th instead, however, well, it may be quicker listing the players who would actually want to stick around in the Championship. Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Dominic Solanke and Pedro Porro are all internationals, while the likes of Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons cost in excess of £60 million.

Where does the skipper rank among our biggest Premier League LEGENDS?

Pardew thinks Nottingham Forest will go down instead

Still, Pardew feels that both Tottenham and West Ham will be renewing acquaintances in the big time next season.

“I’ve gone Burnley, Wolves, and Nottingham Forest,” Pardew predicts, arguing that Forest’s ongoing Europa League commitments may put an unhelpful strain on Vitor Pereira’s squad ahead of trips to Sunderland, Chelsea and Manchester United.

“I just think that European thing and the run-in makes it a little bit trickier for them. And if it isn’t them, it’ll be Spurs in my opinion. I don’t think it’ll be West Ham, I just can’t see it. And I don’t think it’ll be Leeds either. I think their home form will see them home.

“So, I think Leeds and West Ham will get out, and I think it’s out of Forest and Spurs personally.”

Michael Owen explains why ‘exceptional’ West Ham have advantage over relegation rivals - Hammers News
Description

Premier League icon Michael Owen feels West Ham United are the most impressive of the four teams battling against the drop while tipping Tottenham Hotspur to join Wolves and Burnley in the relegation zone.

While Leeds took a giant stride towards safety at Old Trafford, Nuno Espirito Santo’s 17th-place outfit suddenly have their fate in their own hands.

Since Callum Wilson fired the Hammers past Tottenham on January 17th, a team who spent the majority of the campaign in the bottom three have picked up the fifth most points in the Premier League; behind only Man United, Arsenal, Man City and Bournemouth.

Where will West Ham finish this season? 📈 And who will be relegated? ⬇️

Mind the gap, Tottenham Hotspur 😂

West Ham United have accumulated 18 from the last 33 available. That is a staggering 15 more than Spurs. Leeds have picked up 14 in the same time frame, slightly ahead of Nottingham Forest on 12th.

Michael Owen predicts West Ham United to stay in the Premier League

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen weighs up the form table against the respective run-ins of the survival-battling quartet, and concludes that Tottenham fans will be booking Premier Inns at Preston next season.

“Well, what we’ve got is Leeds, they’ve got the best run-in. Wolves and Burnley at home, they’ll be alright,” former Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester United striker Owen says.

“Forest, they’re in decent enough form. Burnley at home [next up], that’s a winnable game. Of course, they at home on the last game of the season [vs Bournemouth], and they are three points ahead of Tottenham.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

“West Ham are probably in the best form out of these four teams. They’re playing exceptionally well. They’ve got the momentum, and they’ve got a couple of games that they possibly should win as well. A couple of home games that they might have a chance at.

“I think before this weekend, I thought it was between Leeds and Tottenham to go down. After that result [at Old Trafford], I’m favouring Tottenham to go down.”

Have you ever seen a turnaroud as dramatic as Dinos? ⚽ ⚽ 🇬🇷

Hammers fans dreaming of Tottenham Hotspur relegation

Hammers News ran a poll shortly after Dino Mavropanos and Taty Castellanos hit a brace apiece in Friday’s 4-0 thrashing of Wolves.

A staggering 88 per cent of you voted for Spurs to go down rather than for Arsenal to chuck away another league title. Such a result should not come as a surprise, of course, given that relegation for Tottenham would mean West Ham remain a top-flight side for 2025/26.

A mid-table, Conference League battling Crystal Palace feels very ‘on the beachy’, on paper. West Ham face Palace next weekend at Selhurst Park.

Of course, Nuno still has a clash with Arsenal to look forward to, but Everton, Brentford, a below-par Newcastle and Leeds on the final day are all games the Hammers should be looking to secure results in.

West Ham finally escaped the Premier League relegation zone last weekend with their impressive 4-0 victory over Wolves.

The Hammers are now two points clear of Tottenham after their London rivals lost 1-0 away to Sunderland.

With Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in good form and Spurs on the decline, many expect the table to stay the same.

However, former Premier League manager Mick McCarthy has a different view after his experience of relegation battles.

Mick McCarthy suggests ‘bonkers mentality’ could be an issue for West Ham

McCarthy believes Tottenham may actually benefit from falling into the bottom three after their defeat to Sunderland.

Speaking from his experience of relegation battles, McCarthy insisted that being in the drop zone can inspire better performances.

This would benefit Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham side in their upcoming league games against Brighton and Wolves.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

“You’re fourth bottom and forever all you’re doing, well, not all, but your concern is the one behind you, because only one can catch you,” McCarthy said.

“Suddenly, you go to third-bottom, and it creates more of a desire. You think, hold on a minute, we’re in relegation here; yeah, we can catch them.’

“It’s a bonkers mentality that suddenly gives you a more positive outlook being in the bottom three, because you’re just looking upwards and trying to overtake the ones above you.

“It really is an unbelievable difference in mentality that, unless you’ve been there, I know you’ve been there, I’ve been there, you can’t express it.”

Meanwhile, McCarthy’s comments suggest West Ham could feel under more pressure after climbing to 17th place.

Rather than hunting down Spurs, Nuno’s team will now be looking behind them and hoping to stay clear of Spurs over the coming weeks.

West Ham’s performance against Crystal Palace on Monday will soon inform fans whether McCarthy is right.

If the Hammers play with the handbrakes on and look as if they would be happy with a draw, the 67-year-old will be proven right.

Tim Sherwood names three unsung West Ham stars who set them apart from Spurs - Hammers News
Description

Forget Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes because Tim Sherwood has named three unsung West Ham stars who set them apart from Spurs in the battle for survival.

West Ham have Premier League safety in their own hands after leapfrogging Spurs to climb out of the relegation zone while pushing their bitter rivals into it.

The Hammers now know they will remain in the top flight if they match the results of Tottenham Hotspur over the last six games of the run-in.

In fact Nuno Espirito Santo’s side can potentially even afford one less result than Tottenham along the way as they sit one place and two points above them.

Sherwood says three unsung West Ham stars can relegate Spurs

West Ham have been transformed since early January, picking up 18 points from 12 games whereas Spurs have one from 24 and no wins since the turn of the year.

Captain Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville have been key with their goals and assists while Mateus Fernandes has been brilliant in central midfield.

Where will West Ham finish this season? 📈 And who will be relegated? ⬇️

Mind the gap, Tottenham Hotspur 😂

However, it is three unsung West Ham stars who set them apart from Spurs according to Tim Sherwood.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

The former Tottenham player and manager has been assessing the relegation battle following West Ham’s 4-0 win over Wolves and Spurs’ defeat at Sunderland.

And Sherwood says West Ham have what Spurs sorely lack in the trio of ever-reliable Tomas Soucek, transformed Konstantinos Mavropanos and loan hero Axel Disasi.

“This group of (Spurs) players should not be in a relegation battle,” Sherwood told Sky Sports News.

“Yes, they’re not good enough (in terms of achieving the aims as to) why they were brought into the club because I mean, the objectives would have been to challenge for the Champions League. They’re nowhere near that. Let’s get that right. But they’re capable of staying in the league.

“But on the evidence of what we’ve seen, they’re not. Because there’s some ingredient missing, and that’s character – that’s what’s underneath the shirt. Forget about the pretty patterns, what they can do in training or whatever, the ability they have. It’s about the mentality and the heart. And at the moment, they’re void of that.

West Ham trio Soucek, Disasi and Mavropanos show character Spurs lack says Sherwood

“You need characters in this situation. Look at West Ham, who are a team who are pulling some results together.

“Disasi, Mavropanos, like two rocks at the back there at the moment. They’re putting their head on everything, putting their bodies on the line, staying where they are, not trying to embroider and do whatever they want.

Have you ever seen a turnaroud as dramatic as Dinos? ⚽ ⚽ 🇬🇷

“They’ve got Soucek there who’s tackling everyone, you know, blocking things.”

While West Ham fans have been raving about the performances of Mavropanos, Disasi and Soucek, it is refreshing to see it recognised outside the Hammers bubble.

While Spurs sit bottom of the Premier League form table going into the last six games, West Ham are in the top five since the turn of the year.

There have been murmurings about how the Hammers will handle the pressure of becoming the hunted after so long being the hunters.

But West Ham will be reassured having characters like Mavropanos, Soucek and Disasi willing to do the hard yards and put their heads where it hurts for the cause.
