Tottenham urged to raise complaint with Premier League after latest Rob Jones reveal - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been told to complain to the Premier League and the PGMOL over referee Rob Jones.

Jones was the man in the middle for Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Sunderland on 12 April, and he made the decision not to send off Brian Brobbey at the Stadium of Light.

The Premier League’s Key Match Incidents (KMI) panel have now revealed that the Mackems star should have been handed a second yellow card for his push on Cristian Romero.

The Dutchman had already been booked in the first half, but Jones decided to keep his cards in his pocket and not dismiss him.

Tottenham were aggrieved by the decision, especially after the news emerged that Romero would be out for the season, and their anger was justified.

Why should Jones not be on Tottenham games

John Wenham believes that Tottenham must take action and has questioned whether Jones should take charge of their games in the future.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “This is the second time this season the Premier League’s KMI Panel has found that Rob Jones has made an error which should have resulted in a red card against Spurs opponent.

“The other player who they voted should have been sent off was Rodri for Man City.

“Should Rob Jones be having any involvement in Tottenham matches moving forward?

“Can the league give Brobbey a retrospective ban, they should.”

When asked whether the Lilywhites should launch an official complaint, he said: “Yeah, they should do.”

Why KMI admission is not good enough

Tottenham are in the middle of a relegation battle, and desperately need points on the board, rather than admissions that decisions were wrong.

If Rodri and Brobbey were sent off, that would have potentially changed the outcomes of the matches in question, and perhaps they would have six more points, which could have put them in a much more comfortable position.

If Jones referees another Lilywhites match, and makes another game-defining mistake, it could have disastrous consequences for the N17 outfit.

Roberto De Zerbi will hope that he is not appointed to any of his side’s last five matches, as they try to secure survival, as he is clearly not competent.

Tottenham look set to make Joao Palhinha howler as £26m talks imminent - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keen on signing Joao Palhinha permanently this summer.

The only thing that Spurs need to focus on right now is keeping themselves in the Premier League, and with just five games to go, their chances of doing so are fading away.

However, regardless of the outcome of their relegation battle, the North Londoners are set for a huge summer of recruitment.

Several players will move on from Tottenham, while a whole host of fresh quality will be needed if Roberto De Zerbi is to be a success.

But with reports claiming Tottenham will look to sign Palhinha, they may be set to make their first mistake already.

Stats expose why Joao Palhinha transfer would be a mistake

Tottenham have lacked some severe quality in midfield this season, with Conor Gallagher, Yves Bissouma and Palhinha himself having failed to impress.

But for the Lilywhites to be on the hunt for a permanent deal for the latter is baffling, especially given the lack of importance he has had this season.

Palhinha ranks among the bottom 14.5 per cent of midfielders for his pass completion, which comes in at a measly 80.2 per cent.

With Tottenham often expected to take control of the game possession-wise, that has already proved to be a huge problem.

He averages just 32 completed passes per 90, which again places him among the bottom 25.23 per cent of midfielders in the Premier League.

It’s clear that Palhinha has nothing to offer on the ball, and while he may be a solid option for protecting the backline, that is simply not enough to warrant the move.

How much would Tottenham pay for Palhinha?

Spurs agreed an option to buy Palhinha with Bayern, with it reported that it would cost them a fee in the region of £26million.

However, the North Londoners are due for talks with Bayern to renegotiate that fee.

If successful, Spurs may push ahead with a permanent deal, but if the German giants refuse to lower the price, it’s claimed that a deal is unlikely to happen this summer.

Roberto De Zerbi to fume over Premier League verdict on Tottenham incident in Sunderland loss

Roberto De Zerbi to fume over Premier League verdict on Tottenham incident in Sunderland loss - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Roberto De Zerbi’s first game as Tottenham Hotspur manager did not go to plan, with Sunderland coming away with a 1-0 win.

A 61st-minute strike from Nordi Mukiele separated the two sides, but the Italian will have been left even more disappointed when Cristian Romero had to be hauled off.

Following a collision with goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, where Brian Brobbey had pushed the defender over, the Dutchman was not awarded a yellow card for the incident.

It left Romero in quite some discomfort, and news since has kept him out for the season.

However, 12 days on from the incident in Tottenham’s loss, the Premier League’s KMI panel has made an official ruling.

What have the Premier League said about the Brian Brobbey incident?

Rob Jones’ decision to keep Brobbey on the pitch against Tottenham has come under scrutiny.

At the time, it was a contentious decision, with Dermot Gallagher defending it but with questions raised from outside voices

However, according to the Premier League’s KMI panel, Brobbey should have received a second yellow card for his foul on Romero.

In a vote which ended three-to-two, it was said that “there is a two-handed push which is an unnecessarily reckless action”.

However, while mistakes from referees on occasion are expected and can limit the blow, Tottenham will feel particularly hard done by based on Jones’ history.

Jones is seemingly a repeat offender when it comes to poor decisions involving second yellow cards. The referee has been involved in five of the 12 errors this season regarding second yellow cards not being shown.

Additionally, in the last two seasons, no referee has had more errors in regard to second bookings. In 2023-2024, he had two errors on his end. Meanwhile, in 2024-2025, he ended the campaign with three.

Alongside that, Tottenham’s 28 per cent win rate with Jones officiating in the middle means that the Lilywhites will hope to not see the official often in the future.

Tottenham must move swiftly on now

While fury will no doubt be a feeling in N17, Spurs cannot keep on looking back with relegation threatening the club.

Yes, this incident may have ultimately resulted in a loss, but with five Premier League matches left, there is a chance to climb out of the drop zone.

What matters now is that any anger over this incident, which left Romero out for the season, should be channelled into the performances on the pitch.

Tottenham told unthinkable Wolves surprise possible amid attitude problem from the past - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to face Wolves in their next Premier League outing.

The relegation battle rolls on at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Roberto De Zerbi goes in search of his first win in charge.

He didn’t pick up three points against Sunderland or Brighton, so attention has turned to an already relegated Old Gold side.

Rob Edwards’ side may have their Championship status confirmed already, but they will be keen to drag the Lilywhites down with them.

Tottenham must be ready to face Wolves, otherwise they risk a repeat of last season’s trip to Molineux, which simply can’t happen.

Tottenham can’t risk 2024 repeat vs Wolves at Molineux

Spurs haven’t been good for a long time, and that stretches back 12 months to their last outing in the Black Country.

Vitor Pereira was in charge at the time and managed to transform the fortunes of the West Midlands, which included victory over the North London outfit.

A 4-2 win at Molineux moved the Old Gold a step closer to Premier League safety, while also piling pressure on Ange Postecoglou.

They can do the same thing to De Zerbi this time around, even if they have already had their fate confirmed with five games to go.

Former scout Bryan King believes there was an attitude problem on show within the Spurs squad in last season’s meeting, something that can’t be repeated this time around.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “Tottenham will be happy about playing Wolves next, but they could get a surprise there.

“If they aren’t up for it, Wolves will kick them. It won’t be easy.

“If Tottenham turn up with an attitude like they did last season at Wolves, they will get beaten.

“They aren’t going to win games because they’re Tottenham; their players need to start putting the work in.

“If they don’t win there, they deserve to go down.”

Tottenham must turn up against Wolves as they would seriously risk the threat of relegation moving into the final weeks of the campaign.

Tottenham can’t lose vs Wolves

There is one simple message that De Zerbi has to give his players at Molineux: Don’t lose.

The Old Gold have been one of the worst Premier League teams in history this season and have nothing left to play for.

They are currently coming off the back of 3-0 and 4-0 defeats against Leeds United and West Ham, respectively, in their last two outings.

Should the Lilywhites fall to defeat against them on Saturday, it would simply knock any little bit of stuffing remaining in the N17 faithful.

Tottenham can not lose against Wolves; it is as simple as that.

Chris Sutton backs Tottenham to kickstart revival with Wolves win amid Thomas Frank lament

Chris Sutton backs Tottenham to kickstart revival with Wolves win amid Thomas Frank lament - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Chris Sutton believes that Tottenham Hotspur will end their winless run at Wolves but much of this mess could have been avoided if they had stuck with Thomas Frank.

Tottenham head into their crunch clash with Wolves on Saturday knowing they simply have to come away with three points if they want to survive in the Premier League.

Spurs scraped a 1-1 draw against the Midlands outfit at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in late September, when Frank was still in charge, but when they head to Molineux, Roberto De Zerbi‘s team cannot afford any more slip-ups.

Wolves and Burnley are already relegated and now Tottenham are trying to avoid being the third team to drop down to the Championship. Spurs are two points behind 17th-placed West Ham, who host Everton on Saturday.

Sutton thinks that Tottenham can beat Wolves, in what he describes as a “ridiculous” prediction, but if they don’t, they are doomed to relegation.

‘Pressure is all on Tottenham’

Although Tottenham fans are counting on this match as a bankable three points, Wolves are unbeaten against Spurs in their last six Premier League games (four wins and two draws).

Moreover, Tottenham have lost their last three away league games at Molineux, as many as they had in their previous 16 visits to Wolves’ ground (10 wins and three draws).

As Sutton points out, Tottenham are on a 15-match winless run and haven’t won in the Premier League since 28 December. There were shoots of positivity in their 2-2 draw with Brighton but the same old frailties were writ large at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

While this will be unhelpful to Tottenham supporters, who will hope for an attacking line-up at Molineux, Sutton believes Spurs would be in a less desperate situation if they hadn’t decided to swing the axe on Frank before hiring Igor Tudor for a short and ill-fated stint.

Predicting a 1-0 away win, he said in his BBC Sport column: “Tottenham could not beat Wolves at home earlier in the season – they needed a 94th-minute equaliser to avoid defeat in September – but they simply have to beat them this time. Can Roberto de Zerbi’s side win three of their final five games and save themselves from the drop?

“Of course they can, but it has to start here. Imagine the psychological damage to the Spurs players and their fans if they don’t win this one. Wolves are officially down now, but we have known that will happen for a while.

“The pressure is all on Spurs, and for them to find a way of winning this game. If Thomas Frank had stayed in charge and maintained his record of 1.12 points per game, then Spurs would be on 37 points now, in 16th.

“Instead, they are in the relegation zone and worrying about how the teams above them are doing as well as trying to pick up points themselves. From watching them, there is nothing that suggests Tottenham will win this time after failing to win any of their previous 15 league games.

“Similarly, they have not kept a clean sheet for 14 league games, so why would they manage one now? But I am going to go against the grain here. Spurs absolutely must win this game, so I am going to say they will – and also that Wolves won’t score. I know that is a ridiculous prediction, and I don’t even really believe it will happen myself, but then nothing about Spurs’ season makes sense when you study it.”

‘Tottenham need fast start’ is a cliché

During Frank’s tenure, Tottenham won seven of their first eight league games when scoring first this season, conceding just three goals in that period.

However, they’ve since won none of their last five when going a goal to the good (three draws and two losses), shopping 11 goals.

As Tottenham appear very fragile at the moment, it seems if they can get a two-goal cushion, that may be the confidence boost they need to kick on.

And coming from behind may not be their way to success, either. Incidentally, in the last two seasons, Wolves and Tottenham have picked up just 59 and 69 points respectively, suffering 42 and 38 defeats along the way.

It’s do or die for Tottenham.

Xavi Simons: Roberto De Zerbi must avoid Tottenham error that's already been made nine times - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Xavi Simons is the player that Tottenham Hotspur must look towards for the quality to keep them in the Premier League.

If relegation concerns weren’t already strong before, they certainly are now with Spurs having just five games left to maintain their Premier League status.

Roberto De Zerbi is winless from his first two games in charge, with the Lilywhites still searching for the first win of 2026, almost five months into the year.

To achieve that, Spurs need their big players to provide the quality in the final third, and there have been some signs of improvement.

Simons managed a goal and an assist in Tottenham’s latest draw with Brighton, and De Zerbi has a clear call to make with the Dutchman to boost their survival chances.

Xavi Simons holds key to Premier Leaguer survival

While he may not have had the full impact that many would have hoped, Simons has still often been the difference for Tottenham this season.

And yet he has been named as a substitute for nine of the 27 games he has featured in the Premier League this season.

Despite that, the 23-year-old still has two goals and five assists in the Premier League, and ranks among the best in the top flight for several metrics.

Simons averages 1.70 chances created per game this season, which has him among the top 25 per cent of midfielders in the Premier League, with an average of 0.37 big chances per 90.

His 1.49 completed dribbles per game also sees him among the top 29 per cent of players, with a 43.8 per cent completion rate.

Simons is always looking to get on the ball and make something happen for Tottenham, which he has done almost every time he has been utilised from the start.

If De Zerbi wants to keep Tottenham in the top flight, he must avoid the error of naming Simons on the bench, with the Dutchman arguably the most important player ahead of the final five games.

Souza could be key to getting the best from Simons

Since arriving in January, Souza has played just 144 minutes of Premier League football.

The Brazillian has a reputation of being an attacking wing-back, which could be the key to getting Simons at his best.

His willingess to overlap would create space for the Dutchman to operate in, which has been vital whenever he has been involved in the final third.

It would be a big call to make for De Zerbi, but one that may pay off.

Tottenham banking on Wolves win but history not on their side in relegation fight

Tottenham banking on Wolves win but history not on their side in relegation fight - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans are confident that they can return to winning ways away at already-relegated Wolves but Molineux hasn’t always been a happy stomping ground for them.

Tottenham haven’t won in the Premier League since 28 December as their winless run stretched to 15 matches after a 2-2 draw with Brighton.

There were shoots of positivity in that match, where they twice took the lead, but the frailties they have developed this season were plain to see at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side may need to win the majority of their five remaining fixtures to stave off relegation to the Championship, and a victory at Wolves would be an ideal place to start.

But Tottenham should not underestimate a Wolves team who are a different proposition at home under Rob Edwards.

Tottenham cannot underestimate Wolves

Wolves are unbeaten in their last six league games against Tottenham, with four wins and two draws.

Moreover, Spurs have lost their last three away matches at their Midlands opponents, as many as they had in their previous 16 visits to Molineux (10 wins, three draws, three losses).

Indeed, the last time Tottenham beat Wolves was way back in August 2022, where the north London team scraped out a 1-0 win.

Tottenham lead the overall head-to-head by 52 wins to 34 losses, along with 23 draws, but Wolves have come out on top recently.

Spurs are just one game short of their all-time longest winless run in the league, when Tottenham went 16 matches without a win between December 1934 to April 1935.

It remains to be seen what starting XI De Zerbi will pick against Wolves. But if they want to climb out of the relegation zone – and leapfrog West Ham, who are two points ahead of them – a victory is a must.

Wolves’ home record says it all about Spurs’

Wolves have been in the relegation zone for the entirety of the season.

But their home form is better than Tottenham’s, with 12 points from 16 matches, compared to Spurs’ 11 from 17.

Wolves will fancy their chances against Tottenham, who may be doomed to relegation if they taste defeat on Saturday.

These past two league seasons have not been good for both sides, with Tottenham picking up just 69 points, with Wolves down at 59. This could be a dicey affair to say the least.

Tottenham told to ‘get their house in order’ after UEFA fine for Champions League antics

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been told to get their house in order after UEFA slapped the club with a fine following their Champions League defeat at Atletico Madrid.

The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body ruled on Thursday that Spurs must pay €10,000 (£8,656) after a delayed kick-off in the Spanish capital. Then-manager Igor Tudor, who was in charge for the tie, was also issued with a warning over the incident.

It did not end there. Spurs were further warned for what UEFA described as the team’s “improper conduct” after five of Tudor’s players were booked at the Metropolitano.

For a club already reeling from a miserable evening, the sanctions only added to the sense of disarray. Tottenham were beaten 5-2 on the night, capping a trip to Madrid that could scarcely have gone much worse.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham Hotspur News, former FIFA referee and ex-PGMOL chief Keith Hackett criticised the club over the episode.

Keith Hackett criticises Tottenham for late kick-off in Madrid

Throughout the campaign, matters have gone from bad to worse for Tottenham.

Not long after their Champions League exit at the hands of Atletico, Tudor lost his job and was replaced by Roberto De Zerbi during the international break.

Speaking about the situation in the Spanish capital, Hackett admitted that, while it was not catastrophic, it should serve as a wake-up call for the club.

“The fine is low when you consider the turnover of football clubs and the prize money the competition participants are competing for,” the former PGMOL chief told Tottenham News.

“It’s a warning for the club to get its house in order and understand the importance of clubs kicking off on time.”

While the incident itself may not rank among the biggest issues at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it certainly adds to a growing list of errors in North London over the course of the campaign.

Tottenham have been in chaos mode throughout the season

This season, anything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong for Spurs, who now find themselves staring nervously at a relegation battle.

Last summer, the Lilywhites chose to appoint Thomas Frank immediately after the club’s first trophy lift in nearly two decades.

An underwhelming transfer window and a poor first half of the season later, Frank was gone and the aforementioned Tudor was in office – his seven-match spell in charge telling its own story about how well that decision worked out.

De Zerbi has since arrived to inherit an injury-hit squad, while Tottenham once again failed to address glaring problems during the January transfer window.

It is a pattern that stretches back years, with haphazard decision-making not confined to what happens on the pitch.

And while a minor incident and fine in Madrid hardly ranks among the club’s gravest problems, it is no coincidence that such episodes keep following a Tottenham side that has spent virtually the entire campaign in a state of chaos.

Tottenham should bite Man United’s hand off over Micky van de Ven transfer interest

Tottenham should bite Man United’s hand off over Micky van de Ven transfer interest - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Micky van de Ven had a bone to pick over suggestions that Tottenham Hotspur‘s players weren’t bothered by their relegation woes. “It’s the biggest nonsense,” he insisted.

The only problem, of course, is that these claims were anything but ridiculous. If body language is an indicator of commitment, Van de Ven has one foot out the door already.

The defender, speaking ahead of Spurs’ Champions League last-16 victory against Atletico Madrid, a result not good enough to undo the damage from the reverse leg humiliation, was worried that supporters were beginning to believe that the squad simply didn’t care.

If his retort was designed to prove his loyalty, it didn’t work.

Now, Manchester United are said to be weighing up swooping for Van de Ven. Regardless of whether Spurs avoid relegation, they should snap the Red Devils’ hand off.

🚨 TOTTENHAM TRANSFER HUB 🚨

Breaking N17 recruitment news: Top targets, deals in progress, whispers, signings, departures, contract updates.

Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven dilemma

According to The Athletic, United hold an interest in Van de Ven, whose departure from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looks to be becoming more likely with every passing week. He is tied down to a contract running until 2029, and so would command a significant fee.

It has been a turbulent campaign for the 25-year-old. While he has been caught out too many times defensively, he has popped up with seven goals in 40 appearances. For a centre-back, that is an outstanding return. No wonder United have had their ears pricked.

Whoever is in the Old Trafford dugout next season will also surely admire Van de Ven’s ability on the ball, no-nonsense style and sheer speed. These traits would be a boon to any top-flight club, as well as other heavyweights across Europe. Formal bids are expected.

Worryingly, though, he has been unable to show this quality this season. Once the cult hero behind Spurs’ Europa League triumph against Manchester United, having acrobatically cleared an effort off the line in Bilbao, he is now a symbol of the wider malaise in N17.

It didn’t take much for the pitchforks to come out. Indeed, the backlash can be traced back to a display of petulance after the 1-0 home defeat by Chelsea in November. Djed Spence and Van de Ven flagrantly ignored Thomas Frank’s instruction to applaud the home support.

Instead, the duo headed straight down the tunnel. The next day, they knocked on Frank’s office door to apologise, claiming they had meant no disrespect. But that missed the point. In this mess, everything is scrutinised, down to the height of the players’ socks.

For many supporters, Van de Ven breezing past his under-pressure manager, so focused was he on his own disappointment, was a bridge too far. The gulf between them only widened after the defender’s churlish red card against Crystal Palace – his first for the club.

It is little wonder, then, that Toby Alderweireld, a distinguished servant during his six-year spell in North London, recently opted to criticise Van de Ven’s body language.

Alderweireld said on TikTok: “How do you get out of a situation like that? Only as a team. By fighting for each other, creating an ‘over my dead body’ mentality. That’s something I’m missing. To be fair, even Micky van de Ven is part of that.

“He’s not making the players around him better.”

These cracks are beginning to widen. According to FourFourTwo, Van de Ven has been “tidying up his off-field affairs in London”, suggesting his future lies elsewhere. Represented by the Team Raiola agency, he has also been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona.

His price tag, though, will depend on whether Spurs avoid relegation. If they stay in the Premier League, he would command a premium fee. But if they drop into the Championship, the transfer race could soon resemble feeding time at the zoo.

Why clubs want to sign Van de Ven

There are clear reasons why he remains in such high demand.

According to FotMob, Van de Ven has made 34 tackles this season, placing him in the 70th percentile in comparison to other Premier League centre-backs. He has also blocked 21 shots and made the same number of interceptions. These numbers are solid enough.

His 103 recoveries and 118 clearances have helped to give Spurs a fighting chance in the relegation dogfight, while he has won 53.8 per cent of his duels. Underlining his importance on the ball, he has a 69.2 per cent dribble success and a pass accuracy of 89.4 per cent.

It is obvious that Tottenham are a drastically improved team when Van de Ven is at his best. That much was shown by him being awarded the club’s player of the season gong in his first campaign. He was also crucial in helping Ange Postecoglou‘s aggressive approach work.

Either way, the club have a big decision to make in the summer.

Tottenham won’t be happy with Anthony Taylor appointment vs Wolves as recent run proves - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are on a losing run with Anthony Taylor as referee, and it’s he who will take their game against Wolves on Saturday.

The biggest game of Tottenham’s 2025-26 Premier League season awaits, as they head to Wolves knowing nothing but three points will do.

Roberto De Zerbi and his players will be aware of that expectation too, as after their visit to Molineux, Spurs face a four-game gauntlet to end their season.

Aston Villa, Leeds, Chelsea and Everton all stand ready for the Lilywhites down the road, with the relegation battle quickly turning into a two-horse race between themselves and West Ham respectively.

So, Wolves is a must-win game for Tottenham, which is precisely why they won’t be thrilled to see Taylor in the middle for it.

What is Tottenham’s record with Anthony Taylor as referee?

For whatever reason, certain teams can enjoy playing against certain teams, in specific stadiums and with individual referees more than they do with others.

Tottenham are six games without a win against Wolves, however, and they also haven’t taken victory at Molineux from any of their last three league visits.

Clearly then, Wanderers are not one of those sides, nor Molineux a venue, that Tottenham particularly love playing/visiting in recent times.

Spurs can’t look past the Old Gold as such, and certainly not when looking at their record with Saturday’s referee, Taylor.

Indeed, as detailed by Transfermarkt, Tottenham have lost four-straight games in all competitions with Taylor as the man in the middle, dating back to December 2024 in a 4-3 loss to Chelsea.

The 47-year-old referee also took charge of Spurs’ most recent trip to Molineux on 13 April last year, which ended up in a 4-2 win for the home side, as well as the 2-1 loss to Wolves in February 2024.

Spurs’ last win with Taylor as referee came against Everton on 24 August 2024, and have an overall record with him of 25 wins, six defeats and 19 losses from 50 matches.

Taylor’s most recent Tottenham match he refereed was their 2-1 home loss to Newcastle United on 10 February this year.

What is Wolves’ record with Taylor as referee?

So, evidently Tottenham’s luck isn’t in with Taylor at the moment, but what about Wolves?

Well, Wanderers’ record with the FIFA listed referee isn’t great either, having lost their last two with him in the middle.

However, both of those defeats have been from this season, and prior to 2025-26, they’d actually only lost one of their previous six games with him in charge in all competitions, and that was against Liverpool.

Wolves have an overall record with Taylor as referee of 10 wins, six draws and 17 losses from 33 games, with their last victory with him indeed being that aforementioned 4-2 win against Tottenham last year.

Something has to give then on Saturday, as Tottenham know this could possibly be their last realistic chance of three points this season.
