Description

Tottenham are set to lose a talented youngster to Premier League heavyweights Manchester City.

Tottenham have been battling Manchester United for various targets this season, including Brentford forward Bryan Mbuemo.

In addition, the UEFA Europa League final and an off-field legal battle involving Manchester United’s co-owners, INEOS, mean that most of the Lilywhites’ focus has been on the Red Devils in recent months.

However, it looks as though it is Manchester City who are about to deal the Lilywhites a fresh blow.

Dexter Oliver set to sign for Manchester City

As previously reported, 16-year-old Dexter Oliver is set to leave Tottenham after refusing a two-year scholarship offer from the North London club [Lilywhite Rose].

MORE SPURS STORIES

Manchester United and Manchester City were both in the running for his signature. However, it seems Pep Guardiola’s side have come out on top.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano (19 June), Manchester City are advancing in talks to sign Oliver, as part of their strategy to develop top young players.

The talented teenager is thought to have been unsatisfied with how he was used for the Tottenham Under-18s last season.

And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Roc Nations Sports, who Oliver signed with in March, have played a big part in the youngster refusing an offer from Spurs.

“This is an extremely frustrating situation,” Wenham said.

“As I understand it, Oliver wanted to play the number 10 role, which Luca Williams-Barnett had locked down, a decision you can’t really argue based on his form.

“However, Williams-Barnett is likely to be moving up to the Under-21s next season, so there would have been plenty of chances for Oliver to play in his preferred position for the 18s.

“It is very frustrating because Oliver has been at Tottenham for a while and excelled. However, it seems as though his agents have turned his head, and he will now be joining Manchester City.”

Tottenham need to continue to develop young talents

The Lilywhites would not have won the UEFA Europa League last season without their young core.

Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall emerged as key players while Spurs’ regular starters were injured, with Bergvall working his way up to become one of the most important players in North London.

And now that Thomas Frank has been appointed head coach, several more young players could climb the ranks next season.

Description

Radu Dragusin will hope to impress Tottenham manager Thomas Frank ahead of the new season.

The Romanian centre-back featured 16 times in the Premier League in his second season in English football.

However, he has been out since the end of January with a cruciate ligament injury and missed the Europa League final win as a result.

While he failed to fully convince Ange Postecoglou of his abilities, he has a fresh start under the former Brentford boss.

Dragusin meets with Frank as Tottenham exit likely

The former Genoa defender has had a tough time so far at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

MORE SPURS STORIES

A report from the print edition of the Sun (20 June, page 51) claims that Dragusin has met with the new boss ahead of the new season, along with the rest of the injured players.

It states that while the 23-year-old could thrive under Frank, Sergio Reguilon is set to depart at the end of his contract, with just three full-backs left in North London.

Tottenham can utilise Dragusin if Romero leaves

The 27-cap Romania international has the potential to become a superstar at Spurs, if he is given regular chances in the starting line-up.

His aerial ability and physicality are well-suited to the demands of the top-flight and his the perfect age profile, but they need to be patient, given that he is recovering from a brutal injury.

Eventually, though, he could become the perfect replacement for Cristian Romero, who seems increasingly likely to join Atletico Madrid.

He could save Daniel Levy a fortune if he can make the step up to become a reliable option for Frank, as they would not have to dip into the transfer window and could utilise funds on other areas of the squad.

Whether he can make that step up remains to be seen, but the evidence that we have seen so far should provide encouragement.

One thing is for sure, the Lilywhites should not let him depart this summer, as he has far too much promise, which could come back to haunt the N17 outfit should they allow him to leave.

Mbeumo signs – Which attacker Frank could axe at Tottenham

Description

Thomas Frank’s directive at Tottenham is to assemble a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.

Ange Postecoglou’s ultimate downfall was that his team and style of play did not maintain the required level of consistency, especially in the Premier League.

His Danish counterpart has been tasked with correcting this flaw and is looking to adjust the squad at Tottenham accordingly.

The 51-year-old has looked to his former club to bring in a trusted ally in Bryan Mbeumo, which could see a current Spurs player lose his place as a result.

Frank to axe Wilson Odobert for Mbeumo

Brentford are resigned to losing Mbeumo this summer, though the Bees will be hoping to leverage Manchester United’s interest against Tottenham to secure the best deal.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Should Spurs get the deal over the line, it could spell bad news for Wilson Odobert, whose prospects at Hotspur Way would take a huge hit.

The French winger’s career in North London never really kicked off, following a hamstring injury which ruled the former Burnley man out for almost five months.

Following his return, he struggled to lock down a starting spot in the team, and Mbeumo’s arrival would only further doubts over his long-term future in N17.

Odobert is more of a creative and technical winger, whose skillset lies in one-on-one duels. However, his direct goal contributions have been fairly limited, which is something Frank has historically valued highly.

Mbeumo is much more of a direct goal threat and is physically far more developed than the former Burnley man.

His injury record is also less of a concern, and with UEFA Champions League football to contend with, Frank will prioritise robust players who can handle the physical demands that will be required.

Tottenham need to sign a striker

Tottenham possess several exciting young wide players, and the addition of Mbuemo would certainly afford Frank enough options ahead of next season, even with Son Heung-min’s future still unclear.

The position of the striker, however, is less plentiful, especially with Richarlison looking set for an exit this summer.

Solanke was heavily overworked last season and struggled for consistency, much in the image of the team as a whole.

An addition must be brought in to help the England international, particularly one who will complement the players already at Spurs and knit the attacking talent on display together.

Marc Guehi ‘to clear medical’ as Tottenham eye big transfer

Description

Tottenham are reportedly keen on signing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi this summer.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the England international’s fitness record ahead of a potential medical.

The 24-year-old’s deal at Selhurst Park runs out at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Guehi expected to clear medical despite knee injury issues

Spurs may look at his knee injury issues in greater detail, but he’s not expected to have issues with his medical, according to Dr Brar.

Bayern Munich and Tottenham are both keen on Guehi and in recent days, Liverpool have shown a serious interest as well.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Discussing the state of play with Guehi exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.

“Spurs may look closer at his knee to see if there any changes they aren’t comfortable with,” he said.

“However, I do not see it causing issues with his medical.

“He has played in the Premier League for a while and this wear and tear isn’t far from the ordinary so it’s not much to worry about.“

Tottenham signing Guehi would be a solid move

Guehi would be an excellent signing for Tottenham under Thomas Frank due to his defensive reliability, tactical fit, and leadership qualities.

At 24, the Crystal Palace captain brings Premier League experience with over 150 appearances, offering stability to a Spurs defence that struggled with injuries and inconsistency last season.

His composure on the ball and ability to play progressive passes suit Frank’s system, which emphasises discipline and build-up play from the back.

Guehi’s versatility to operate in a back four or three provides tactical flexibility, addressing Tottenham’s need for depth amid concerns over Cristian Romero’s potential departure to Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.

As an England international and FA Cup-winning captain, Guehi’s leadership and big-match experience would bolster Spurs’ Champions League campaign.

With his contract nearing its end, a move could be cost-effective, making him a smart addition to elevate Tottenham’s defensive resilience and long-term potential.

Description

Tottenham could look to deal another blow to Manchester United and Ruben Amorim.

Tottenham claimed four victories over Manchester United last season, including a famous 1-0 win in the UEFA Europa League final in Bilbao (21 May).

The Liywhites are already set to compete with United for the signatures of Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo, and have been urged to beat the Red Devils to another potential signing.

Tottenham urged to sign João Palhinha from Bayern Munich

João Palhinha struggled to start consistently for Bayern Munich last season after picking up a muscle injury in November.

The midfielder played just 941 minutes across 24 appearances for the German side and will no doubt be considering a move this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

As reported by Mirror Football, via Football Fancast (9 June), Manchester United are weighing up a move to sign Palhinha, who could be available for just £25million.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Spurs should make the midfielder a top priority.

“Tottenham need an experienced defensive midfielder,” Wenham said.

“That should be a priority this summer. I saw reports that Palhinha is available for £25m, and Manchester United are looking at him.

“It should be Tottenham who are looking at him, we’re desperate for a player of his quality.”

Palhinha may not be the right choice for Tottenham

There is no doubt that Tottenham need to add experience this summer. The Lilywhites have been focused on scouting young talent, but the policy could come back to haunt Daniel Levy later down the line.

There are several reasons why Palhinha would be a good buy. The midfielder has played in the UEFA Champions League, which could benefit Spurs hugely during the upcoming campaign.

At 29 years of age, he is also experienced, and the Lilywhites need defensive options in the midfield.

However, while experience comes with age, so does the potential for a swift decline. Palhinha is meant to be in his prime years, but there is little way of knowing how long it could continue. The injuries he suffered this season cannot have helped things at all.

The midfielder also may be unwilling to accept a rotational role, which Spurs will most likely offer him. Therefore, Tottenham should think twice before going for someone whose best years may be behind them.

Richarlison ‘should pack his bags now’ after what Frank said about Tottenham striker

Description

Richarlison will be reconsidering his future at Tottenham following recent comments made by Thomas Frank.

The Brazilian joined Tottenham from Everton in 2022, signing a contract until 2027.

However, countless injuries and inconsistent management have prevented Richarlison from performing consistently in North London.

And it now seems that an exit is closer than ever following recent comments made by Frank.

Frank is a huge fan of Dominic Solanke

Dominic Solanke became Spurs’ record signing when he signed from Bournemouth for £65million last summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The striker scored 16 goals and provided eight assists in 45 appearances last season and started alongside Richarlison in the UEFA Europa League final.

Meanwhile, Richarlison only managed five goals and two assists in 24 appearances, which has brought into question his ability to consistently perform at the highest level.

It now seems that Frank may also be questioning the Brazilian’s place in his team next season.

While speaking in his first interview as Tottenham Head Coach (18 June), Frank said, “Solanke, a big fan of him, in terms of his abilities. I’m sure we’ll make him score a lot of goals,” while failing to make any mention of Richarlison.

The Dane’s comments suggest that Solanke is likely to start over Richarlison next season. As a result, the Brazilian should consider an exit from Tottenham to guarantee first-team football.

Tottenham should sell Richarlison

Richarlison has been linked with a Tottenham exit, and the Lilywhites should seriously consider selling him this summer.

The Brazilian has failed to live up to expectations since his arrival in N17 and spends more time on the sidelines than on the pitch.

With Tottenham heading into the UEFA Champions League next season, the club cannot afford to keep players that are unreliable. However, Richarlison’s injury record may make it more difficult to sell him.

There is no doubt that Richarlison will want to spend his prime years in Europe. However, big European clubs may hesitate to sign him if they cannot depend on his availability. This could see the striker leave on a free transfer once his contract runs out.

Therefore, Tottenham will need to think carefully about how to proceed with the situation to achieve the best outcome for all involved.

Daniel Levy ‘ready to free up funds’ as Tottenham to make Gibbs-White move

Description

Nottingham Forest attacker Morgan Gibbs-White has been linked with a transfer to Tottenham this summer.

The 25-year-old is on the back of two impressive seasons at the City Ground and could be destined for a move to a bigger club.

In the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, the Englishman scored seven goals and bagged ten assists in 34 appearances.

Thomas Frank may prioritise a Gibbs-White transfer

Spurs, gearing up for the Champions League, are seeking squad additions and have previously signed Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.

The Welsh winger secured Spurs’ qualification for Europe’s elite club competitions with the decisive goal in the Europa League final against Manchester United.

MORE SPURS STORIES

While the club and chairman Daniel Levy typically avoid high transfer fees, they’re willing to invest in key targets.

This means that if Gibbs-White is a priority for Thomas Frank, the hierarchy could sanction a big-money move.

Last year, they paid £65million for Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth, so that’s clear evidence that there is money to be spent on the right player.

Gibbs-White, however, remains focused beyond a potential transfer, but a summer exit can’t be ruled out, so Tottenham may end up making a move. [Daily Mail, 20 June]

Tottenham must look to sign Gibbs-White this summer

At 25, he offers a dynamic skill set, blending attacking flair with defensive work rate, making him an ideal fit for Frank’s system at Tottenham.

His ability to play as an attacking midfielder or wide forward adds tactical flexibility, while his vision and passing would enhance Spurs’ attacking output.

Gibbs-White’s composure under pressure and knack for creating chances in tight spaces align perfectly with their need for a playmaker to complement their Champions League ambitions.

His standout performance in England’s friendly against Senegal highlights his international pedigree, ensuring he can handle big stages.

Despite Tottenham’s cautious spending, Gibbs-White’s youth and potential justify a significant investment, promising both immediate impact and long-term value for a squad aiming to compete at the highest level.

Description

Son Heung-min is arguably past his best and may have played his last game for Tottenham.

His last memory in a Spurs jersey for most fans will be that of him lifting the Europa League trophy – a good way to bid farewell to the North London club.

The South Korea international still has another year left on his contract, but his future is hanging in the balance.

Sources reveal that Son only has a 50 per cent chance of staying at Tottenham, which may now have been reduced due to new developments.

Timothy Weah appears to be a priority with an enquiry already made

MORE SPURS STORIES

Along with them, Everton are also understood to be interested in the United States international, along with two other clubs.

He’s been a bit-part player for Juventus and will only leave if he’s guaranteed first-team minutes at his new club.

The North London outfit have secured Champions League football, so that’s another feather in their cap when it comes to attracting players this summer.

Tottenham may sell Son if another winger joins

If Weah signs for Tottenham, the club might look to cash in on Son due to his high market value and the opportunity to maximise financial returns.

Despite his age, he’s a proven world-class forward and will command a significant transfer fee, something that would tempt the owners, especially with interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia or Europe, allowing Spurs to reinvest in squad depth or a marquee signing.

While Weah, a versatile winger from Juventus, brings pace and potential, his inconsistent performances and lower goal-scoring output compared to Son suggest he’s not at the same elite level.

To maintain their competitive edge, Spurs should aim for a higher-calibre replacement, targeting a top-tier attacker to fill the South Korean attacker’s shoes effectively.

‘Frank makes decision on Vicario’ amid Tottenham transfer exit news

‘Frank makes decision on Vicario’ amid Tottenham transfer exit news - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Thomas Frank is meticulously assessing every position of Tottenham’s squad.

The Danish manager has his work cut out to ascertain which areas of the pitch Tottenham need to strengthen most in the summer transfer window.

Spurs seem to have focused their efforts on signing forward players as an early priority, though their strategy will equally be dictated by potential outgoings.

Arguably, the most crucial decision lies with the goalkeeping position, with Frank set to make a final decision on Guglielmo Vicario following the latest transfer news.

Vicario to stay despite AC Milan links

Vicario’s agent was spotted speaking to AC Milan representatives, with the Italian club placing the shotstopper high on their wishlist to replace the outgoing Mike Maignan, according to TBR Football (16 June).

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 28-year-old has been guilty of a few shaky performances, including being bailed out by Micky Van de Ven in the UEFA Europa League final, and still occasionally struggles when targeted with set pieces.

However, Tottenham looked a much more solid unit with the former Empoli man’s presence in the side, and Vicario is looked up to as the embodiment of the team’s fighting spirit.

The Italy international famously played on against Manchester City in November last season despite fracturing his ankle during the game.

Athletic journalist Jay Harris, speaking on the View from the Lane podcast (17 June), believes that Vicario’s influence in the dressing room will convince Frank to retain him at Tottenham next season, despite the links with a move away this summer.

Harris stated, “I don’t think he will go anywhere this summer, and I suspect he will probably be part of Frank’s leadership group because you can see the way Vicario conducted himself on and off the pitch over the last year – he is definitely someone his teammates look up to.”

Goalkeepers are not a priority for Spurs

Tottenham were blessed with having Hugo Lloris between the sticks for over a decade, leaving Spurs with the difficult task of replacing the World Cup winner.

Vicario was selected as his long-term replacement, and while he has not yet proved himself at the same level consistently, he has shown flashes of similar acrobatic shot-stopping and leadership qualities.

With the talented Antonín Kinsky as a very capable understudy, Spurs’ priorities should lie elsewhere this transfer window and give their current goalkeepers at least another season before assessing the situation again next summer.

Thomas Frank accused of ‘back-handed compliment’ about Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke

Thomas Frank accused of ‘back-handed compliment’ about Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Dominic Solanke enjoyed a bright start to his Tottenham career during his first season in North London.

The striker notched nine league goals for the Lilywhites following his big-money move from Bournemouth, and while that was perhaps not the return that Spurs were hoping for when they brought him in, he still ended the campaign as the club’s second-highest scorer in the Premier League.

Solanke showed flashes of the brilliance that he can provide last term, but will be expected to hit similar heights to the ones he achieved at Bournemouth as the Thomas Frank era begins at Spurs.

The Dane is expected to bring wholesale changes in N17 this summer, and the former Brentford boss has now revealed his first impressions of Solanke.

Thomas Frank is a ‘big fan’ of Solanke’s abilities

Frank’s immediate priority will be to work with Daniel Levy to ensure that he can strengthen the squad in the areas he desires ahead of next season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

That will also mean casting his eye over the players already at the club, and reaching judgements over how he intends to use them, or whether certain people would be better suited by a move to a different club.

Frank has now issued his immediate thoughts on Solanke, who is expected to open the campaign as Spurs’ number one option to lead the line.

“I’m a big fan of him (Solanke) in terms of his abilities,” the 51-year-old said, according to the print edition of The Sun (20 June, pg. 51).

“I’m sure we’ll make him score a lot of goals.”

Frank’s statements are a back-handed compliment

While the sentiment behind Frank’s comments on Solanke is certainly positive, The Sun’s Tom Barclay has referred to it as a back-handed compliment, and it’s easy to see why.

The Tottenham boss’ statement about making Solanke score a lot of goals perhaps implies that he wasn’t overly impressed by his output last season.

Solanke had hit 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth in 2023/24, but was unable to maintain those impressively high standards at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, Frank’s comments can definitely be interpreted as being a little harsh towards his striker.

Spurs endured a season to forget, in which several of their more well-established stars dipped well below their usual performance levels, and Solanke was far from the main culprit in that respect.

A large portion of a striker’s game can often come down to confidence, and that is something that likely wouldn’t have been flowing through Solanke for the majority of last season, as he toiled away at the top of what was a hugely disfunctional side at times.

Frank’s latest comments could easily have dented the 27-year-old’s confidence even further if they have been perceived in the wrong way.
