Mohammed Kudus delivered a sparkling display on his Spurs Premier League debut as Tottenham Hotspur brushed aside Burnley 3-0 in North London on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

The Ghanaian playmaker was at the heart of everything positive for Spurs, producing two assists that lit up Thomas Frank’s first league victory in charge.

His first contribution came midway through the first half when he picked out Richarlison with a teasing cross, which the Brazilian volleyed in to break the deadlock.

If that moment showcased Kudus’ vision, his second was pure artistry. Another precise delivery from the 25-year-old found Richarlison again, and Tottenham’s No 9 responded with a spectacular acrobatic volley that left the crowd in awe and is already being tipped as a Goal of the Season contender.

The home fans had barely finished celebrating when Brennan Johnson rounded off a sweeping team move, dinking the ball delicately over Martin Dubravka to make it three.

Kudus had shown flashes of his talent in Spurs’ Super Cup defeat to PSG earlier in the week, but this time, he stamped his authority on the game from start to finish, tormenting Burnley with his energy, creativity and precise end product.

Dream Debut: Kudus shines with two assists in Tottenham’s win over Burnley

His link-up with Richarlison, in particular, hinted at a partnership that could define Tottenham’s new era under Frank.

For Spurs, it was three points. For Kudus, it was a dream introduction and one that has already left supporters eager for more.

Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus announced his arrival in style for Tottenham Hotspur, providing two assists in a commanding 3-0 victory over Premier League returnees Burnley on Saturday.

Making his first start since completing a summer switch from West Ham United, the 24-year-old wasted little time in making an impact.

His precise cross in the 10th minute was met by Brazilian forward Richarlison, who opened the scoring to give Spurs a 1-0 lead at the break.

Kudus was again the architect after the interval, picking out Richarlison inside the box for a spectacular acrobatic finish that doubled the advantage.

Welsh forward Brennan Johnson then sealed the win in the 66th minute to round off an impressive afternoon for the North Londoners.

Kudus, who was replaced by French youngster Mathys Tel in the 85th minute, will be hoping to retain his spot in Thomas Frank’s starting XI when Spurs travel to the Etihad Stadium to face defending champions Manchester City in their next weekend.

Why Kudus Mohammed and Nuno Mendes are trending After UEFA Super Cup

But against Burnley, Kudus shifted into full gear, dictating play and delivering two assists that left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium buzzing.

His first moment of magic came when he whipped in a precise cross for Richarlison to volley home, opening Thomas Frank’s account as Spurs manager.

If the first assist showcased his vision, the second underlined his flair. Another well-measured Kudus delivery found Richarlison again, and the Brazilian responded with an acrobatic volley that is already being hailed as an early contender for Goal of the Season.

As the crowd was still reliving that moment, Brennan Johnson capped off the afternoon, latching onto a slick Tottenham move and chipping delicately over Martin Dubravka to make it 3-0.

But the spotlight belonged to Kudus. His energy, creativity, and decisive contributions gave Spurs a cutting edge they had lacked in the season opener, and his link-up with Richarlison hinted at a partnership that could define Tottenham’s new era under Frank.

For Spurs fans, it was more than just three points, it was a glimpse of what their new signing can bring: drive, brilliance, and a touch of magic.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United battle to sign Semenyo from Bournemouth - GhanaWeb
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are making decisive efforts to sign Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth following his impressive performance in the 2024/2025 season in the Premier League.

According to a Sky Sports report, the prolific striker is also on the radar of Manchester United, who are said to be exploring a deal for the player to augment their team.

However, neither Manchester United nor Tottenham has presented an official bid to Bournemouth or begun transfer negotiations yet, but this is expected to happen soon.

The Red Devils have Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo as their priority target, having had their €55 million offer rejected, and are expected to follow up with another offer.

Bournemouth have set a €70 million price tag on the Ghanaian forward, as his remarkable season has generated interest from top European clubs.
