Radbourne’s penalty heroics earns shootout win for Women’s Under-19s after Lionesses’ draw - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Our Women’s Under-19s earned a bonus point in the Professional Game Academy League after a penalty shootout success over London City Lionesses on Wednesday following a 1-1 draw in normal time in our final game of the calendar year.

Olivia Bennett opened the scoring direct from a corner inside the opening quarter of the contest but we responded 10 minutes into the second half as Rania Oukriss netted her first goal of the season to bring us back on level terms in the encounter at Hotspur Way.

Both sides had opportunities to win the game in normal time, Eloise Summers-Mee and Oukriss both striking the woodwork while, at the other end, Erin Radbourne produced two huge saves in the closing stages to deny Chloe Kabo and force the game into a shootout.

After 11 well-taken spot-kicks in the shootout, Radbourne was on hand to produce the heroics once again, pushing Rayne Bryan’s penalty on to the crossbar to win 6-5 and secure an extra point in the league ahead of the winter break.

Women’s Under-16s reach PGA Plate semi-final - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Our Women’s Under-16s have reached the Professional Game Academy League Plate semi-final after penalty shootout success over Bristol City in the previous round.

Despite a goalless draw at home to the Robins the quarter-final last Saturday, we overcame the visitors on penalties to win 4-2 in the shootout and secure our spot in the last four of the competition.

We’ll face Newcastle United at home in the semi-finals, with Leicester City and Liverpool competing in the other tie.

Clementine Thomas, Ruby Leathers, Lexi Withey and Riley Jannese all found the back of the net in the shootout before goalkeeper Cassie Shield produced a significant save to save the Robins’ third spot-kick to secure our place in the semi-final.

Reflecting on their progression to the last four of the competition, Head Coach Matheus Scapin said: "It was a resilient, disciplined performance and a strong team mentality were key to progressing in a competitive quarter-final.

“Our girls showed great aggression without the ball and the group attempted well to execute the plan we have been working on. Time to reflect well during this Christmas break and prepare the team for the semi-final."

Under-18s dumped out of FA Youth Cup by Brighton

Under-18s dumped out of FA Youth Cup by Brighton - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Our Under-18s fell at the first hurdle in this season’s FA Youth Cup, suffering a 5-2 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night.

We’d led twice during an at-times chaotic opening half-hour through Reiss Elliott-Parris and Tynan Thompson at Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium but were pegged back each time, conceding in sloppy fashion to Harry Howell and Adam Brett, before the latter struck again to give the visitors the upper hand going in at the break.

We struggled to meaningfully threaten after the restart, Luca Williams-Barnett going closest to a reply when he fired just wide of the far post after a trademark solo run, but it was game over when Howell netted his second from the penalty spot on 87 minutes after Jun’ai Byfield’s foul on Jackson Morby.

Substitute Billy-Ray Cullinane added insult to injury with a stoppage-time fifth for the Seagulls, firing home from distance as his side marched on to a round four date with Queens Park Rangers, leaving us to ponder what might have been.

There was plenty of optimism at the start of the game with both teams naming strong starting sides and we duly made a positive start, Elliott-Parris with a low angled shot repelled by William Rutter before the same player latched onto a wayward back-pass and fired us into a ninth-minute lead.

Brighton equalised five minutes later after a slick move which ended with the unmarked Howell nodding Morby’s cross inside the near post, but at that point you still sensed we were in control and after Oliver Boast’s effort from distance sailed just off-target and Elliott-Parris swiped a tame effort straight at the keeper, we restored our lead on the half-hour mark when Thompson collected Elijah Upson’s long ball out from the back, cut inside from the left wing and fired home via a deflection off the heels of Brighton’s Jesse Middleton.

Back came the Seagulls again six minutes later, though, Brett’s effort from the left angle floating over goalkeeper Dylan Thompson – who got a touch on it – and bouncing fractionally in off the far post, the assistant referee on the far side deeming the ball to have crossed the line despite the keeper’s subsequent clearance. The contest’s key moment then arrived three minutes before the break as Younes Ibrahim’s diagonal free-kick was met at the back post by Tate Ferdinand, his effort was blocked on the line by keeper Thompson but Brighton kept it alive and Brett found a gap in a congested six-yard box to force home from close range.

In truth, we never really recovered from that and struggled to penetrate the visitors’ back line during the second period outside of a couple of half-chances, Rutter with an impressive double save to deny substitute Miracle Adewole and Elliott-Parris in quick succession on 73 minutes before Williams-Barnett took matters into his own hands six minutes from time when he collected Upson’s diagonal ball out from the back and broke forward, only to see his angled low drive creep the wrong side of the far stick.

Brighton made sure of their win two minutes later, Byfield impeding Morby as he came across to the side of the box with Howell converting the resulting penalty, before Cullinane ran onto a loose ball to curl home and compound our misery in the 98th minute.

Anna Csiki off the mark in the WSL - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Anna Csiki stepped off the bench to open her account in the Barclays Women’s Super League – her first in England’s top flight – to help West Ham United to a 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

The midfielder, who joined West Ham United on a season-long loan in the summer, was on hand to reinstate her side’s lead in the second half at Chigwell Construction Stadium after Mia Enderby cancelled out Riko Ueki’s opener within two minutes.

Introduced just before the hour mark, it only took Anna eight minutes to find the target with her in the right place right place at the right time to flick home Ffion Morgan’s effort from the edge of the box to net her very first goal in the WSL on 67 minutes.

The home side were unable to hold on to the lead as Beata Olsson grabbed an equaliser with three minutes left to play in the contest as both sides settled for a point in east London.

It was her eighth appearances of the season, with four of those coming in the WSL.

‘One of the highest challenges we’ll face’ – Jamie relishing FA Youth Cup test - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Under-18s Coach Jamie Carr has underlined how much the FA Youth Cup means in the world of player development as we prepare to take our first steps in this season’s competition on Tuesday night.

Our youngsters enter the prestigious youth tournament at the third-round stage, taking on Under-18 Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion under the lights at the Lamex Stadium in Stevenage (kick-off 7pm UK, live on SPURSPLAY) with a trip to Queens Park Rangers awaiting the winners in round four.

For recently-appointed Jamie, who was an assistant coach with Manchester City’s Under-18s when they won the Youth Cup in 2024, the game represents an opportunity for the players to express themselves in a high-profile setting.

“It’s the major prestigious tournament that every player in every Academy looks forward to,” he said after training on Monday. “Players in the Under-12s, the Under-16s, any age group, everyone has their eyes on it and aspires to be involved one day and the fact that this game is taking place now, particularly for me where it’s very early in my time here, is super-exciting.

“I know all of the players have been looking forward to this for a while. Many of the boys have had a mix of game types recently with the UEFA Youth League, Under-18s games, the Under-18 Premier League Cup, but this is one of the highest challenges they’ll face. It’s the best Under-18s players in English football up against each other, but it also comes with different environmental challenges with the added pressure, the crowds, the stadiums, the media, so it’s really exciting for everyone. It’s an opportunity for us to see who can stand out and who does well under the circumstances, some of which are more aligned to senior professional football.”

We met Tuesday night’s opponents in the Under-18 Premier League the weekend before last, with the Seagulls running out 4-1 winners on a windswept morning at their training ground. Both teams are expected to make changes this time, with Jamie understandably targeting a more positive outcome.

“Both teams will probably approach the game in a different way (to last week’s league fixture) with the change in circumstances, but the last match was one where hopefully we’ve learned some lessons and made some improvements based on that,” he said. “We’re keen to see progress and as always, that’s what we’ll be looking for on Tuesday night.

“One thing that stands out about the Youth Cup is you play in some amazing stadiums under intense pressure with big crowds, so sometimes you’ll see a totally different version of a player as they rise to the challenge. That’s the opportunity we want to provide for our players and hopefully they’ll take their chance.”

Tickets to watch the match are available online in advance via Stevenage FC’s ticketing website or at the turnstiles on the night, priced at £5 for adults and £2 for under-18s.

The game will also be broadcast live on SPURSPLAY – tune in just before kick-off at 7pm to watch all the action unfold – with live text updates additionally available via our Match Centre here on tottenhamhotspur.com and the Spurs Official app.
