Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of keeping Micky van de Ven have been given a huge boost with Liverpool making moves to sign a defender on deadline day.

Liverpool have been linked with Van de Ven and were expected to be one of the leading contenders to sign him next summer.

Fill in the blank: Micky van de Ven is worth £__m in this current market?

Tottenham reportedly value Van de Ven at £125m, which is likely to put most clubs off, but the Reds have shown they have no qualms about spending big fees last summer.

However, on deadline day, Arne Slot’s team are making big moves to sign a central defender, which could be great news for Van de Ven staying at Spurs.

Tottenham’s hopes of keeping Micky van de Ven receive key boost

Jeremy Jacquet’s move to Liverpool could be promising news for Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of keeping Micky van de Ven.

The Reds are spending around £60m to bring the Frenchman to Anfield next summer to partner Virgil van Dijk.

The Merseyside club clearly rate the 20-year-old very highly, having made such a big investment and moving on deadline day to secure him.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs will now be hopeful that Liverpool will not move for another central defender next summer, losing a serious contender for Van de Ven.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also interested in the Dutch defender; however, they would be unlikely to pay such amounts to get a deal done.

Tottenham had been set to offer Van de Ven a new contract, but at this stage, it’s unclear whether the 24-year-old would sign a new deal.

True or false: Luka Vuskovic will be starting for Tottenham next season…

Will he take Van de Ven or Romero's spot in the team?

His current deal is due to run until 2029, meaning that Spurs are in a strong position in terms of negotiating a potential departure.

Luka Vuskovic is also a promising option Tottenham will have next summer and a player who could potentially replace Van de Ven at some stage.

Over the weekend, Lothar Matthaus praised Vuskovic following his goal and Man of the Match performance against Bayern Munich.

Thomas Frank has revealed that he hopes Van de Ven will be back to face Manchester United next weekend.

He has missed Spurs’ last two matches with a minor injury, but should be fit for the next Premier League game.

Speaking to the media, Frank said: “(Romero) I hope is minor nothing. Micky we hope is back for Man United and Djed is hopefully not too long.”

Tottenham want to sign a player Luis Diaz thinks can become ‘the best’ on deadline day - The Spurs News
Description

Tottenham Hotspur often leave it late in a transfer window.

Indeed, Spurs have done plenty of famous deadline day deals in the past as the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Rafael van der Vaart and Brennan Johnson have all arrived on the final day of transfer windows in the past.

Now, another deadline day is upon us, and Spurs need to add to their squad once again.

Tottenham need attacking reinforcements, and according to Dean Jones, one player on the club’s radar is Jhon Duran.

Premier League fans have seen what Duran is capable of during his time at Aston Villa, and he’s been tipped to be one of the best in the world in the past by Luis Diaz.

Of course, Diaz almost signed for Tottenham Hotspur before he joined Liverpool, so his comments are rather interesting.

Upgrade or downgrade? Randal Kolo Muani out, Jhon Duran in…

Would you be happy, Spurs fans?

Luis Diaz thinks Jhon Duran can become the best

Speaking to ESPN, Diaz tipped Duran to become one of the best strikers around.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The winger claimed that he knew Duran was special from day one, claiming that he is the type of player who can genuinely make history.

“From day one that I met him, that I dealt with him and that I saw him play, I already knew the conditions and qualities he had,” Diaz said.

“First, I said this boy, if he sets his mind to it, he can become very big, he can make history in the role he has, he can be the best striker. It’s good that he’s living a great moment, that he’s doing well, that he’s shining in a super spectacular league.

“I’m very happy for him, we shared a lot in the national team, he’s a very calm boy, he lets himself go, if he has to listen, he does it too.

“He’s in the process of continuing to learn like every boy, so he’ll continue to improve in what is left of his career and he’ll continue to score goals.”

Jhon Duran’s Premier League stats

Jhon Duran has, of course, already been in the Premier League with Aston Villa, and during that spell, he did show that he had something special.

On paper, the numbers don’t look amazing as Duran only has 12 goals in 55 matches in the Premier League.

However, if you dig a little bit deeper, you’ll see that Duran’s minutes per goal record is exceptional at this level.

Duran spent a lot of his time at Villa as a super sub, but when he was on the pitch, he was scoring on a regular basis.

If he can replicate that sort of form for Tottenham, he will be a very good signing.

Tottenham Hotspur have been discussing the possibility of signing Jhon Duran on transfer deadline day to replace Randal Kolo Muani.

The North London club have been looking to sign an attacker during the winter window; however, they have now left it until deadline day to make their move.

Upgrade or downgrade? Randal Kolo Muani out, Jhon Duran in…

Would you be happy, Spurs fans?

Juventus are pushing to sign Kolo Muani on loan, which means that Spurs would need to find a replacement.

The Lilywhites have so far been reluctant to part ways with the Frenchman, although if they could line up a deal before Monday’s deadline, then he could leave.

Tottenham are discussing the signing of Jhon Duran

Tottenham Hotspur are discussing a late move to sign Jhon Duran from Al-Nassr, according to Dean Jones, with the striker currently on loan at Fenerbahce.

Randal Kolo Muani’s future in North London remains undecided as Juve are continuing to bring him back to Turin.

Tottenham do not want to lose the 27-year-old, but Kolo Muani has been pushing to join Juventus, which has meant Spurs are discussing possible alternatives.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Duran has now emerged as one of the players the North London club could target in the final hours of the window.

Change our mind: Tottenham MUST KEEP Randal Kolo Muani at all costs!

The Colombian was a big success in the Premier League at Aston Villa, but he ended up moving to Al-Nassr for £71 million one year ago.

In the summer, he ended up joining Turkish club Fenerbahce, where he is currently on loan, with just five goals and three assists in 21 matches.

Randal Kolo Muani leaving Tottenham remains possible

Juventus still believe they can sign Kolo Muani, while Tottenham is exploring alternative options, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano told his YouTube channel: “We haven’t received a positive response from Tottenham yet, so Juve is still holding out hope for Randal Kolo Muani.

“It’s clear that Tottenham have been looking for a replacement because they made calls to see if there might be options, but they haven’t found a player tonight who could represent a real alternative to Kolo Muani.

“So for now, everything is still basically stuck with Tottenham. Juve is ready if Tottenham calls tomorrow, otherwise we’ll see if they explore alternatives.”

Description

Xavi Simons has just ended the debate from the summer as to who is better between him and Eberechi Eze after his display in Tottenham’s draw against Man City.

Simons was outstanding for Tottenham as he played a key role in helping drag Thomas Frank’s team back into the game.

What grade do you give Xavi Simons’ time at Tottenham so far? 🤔

The Dutch international produced a wonderful outside-of-the-boot assist for Dominic Solanke’s first goal to cap off a solid showing.

Over recent weeks, the midfielder has been showing flashes of brilliance, but against City, especially in the second half, he fully burst into life.

Xavi Simons ends Eberechi Eze debate during Tottenham vs Man City

Xavi Simons has just ended all debates between him and Eberechi Eze following his superb performance during Tottenham Hotspur’s draw against Man City.

Solanke was named the Premier League Man of the Match, but there is a strong case to be made that it should have been Simons instead.

The 22-year-old had the most touches, won the most duels, had the most shots, completed the most take-ons, created the most chances and won the most fouls.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In the first 45 minutes, Frank’s team looked devoid of ideas, with Simons being the player trying to make things happen. His efforts were richly rewarded in the second half.

Last summer, Spurs moved for Simons after missing out on Eze to Arsenal, which at the time looked like a substantial blow.

True or false: Eze would currenlty have more goal invovments than Simons had Tottenham signed him…

But given the trajectory of both players, the Spurs midfielder is quickly proving himself to be the superior signing.

Eze has played just 64 minutes of Premier League football across Arsenal’s last eight matches and has completely lost his spot in Mikel Arteta’s team.

Spurs have a young, cheaper and better player in Simons, and the debate between the two from the summer can now be put to bed.

Jamie Redknapp calls Xavi Simons ‘fantastic’

Jamie Redknapp believes that Simons had a ‘fantastic’ game against City and highlighted several other Spurs players.

Speaking after the match, Redknapp told Sky Sports: “Xavi Simons was fantastic. Dragusin and Palhinha ended up as the Spurs centre-backs.

“Gallagher was fantastic in midfield. Pape Sarr gave them energy. Then it showed you how much they’ve missed Solanke. He showed his quality.

“Spurs have been battered by everybody. They showed tremendous character today and we don’t say that very often. The second half was completely different.”

Description

Thomas Frank was a relieved man at full-time of Tottenham’s enthralling draw against Manchester City.

After goals from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo had given City a 2-0 half-time lead, fans departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their droves.

However, those fans look foolish now as an inspired half-time team talk from Frank saw Dominic Solanke score twice to earn Tottenham a very important point.

Spurs bounced back with a very credible point following defeat to West Ham and a draw with Burnley last week and now Frank will hope to get some new additions across the line before the deadline.

What Conor Gallagher said about Dominic Solanke

Gallagher is one of two summer signings made by Tottenham, and after starring against City, he decided to pay tribute to the goalscoring hero.

Solanke has been in red-hot form since returning from injury, and his performance was the catalyst for Spurs coming back to claim an excellent point.

Gallagher was impressed with his teammate and said during his press interview: “He’s a top player. Dom has been brilliant the last few games since he came back from injury. He is strong, he can put his body about and he brings players into the game. You could see that in the second half.

“Everyone was very good in the second half. We stuck together and showed great character and personality. I just hope we can kick on from this and get some better results.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Solanke can save Tottenham’s season

With Spurs getting through to the last 16 of the Champions League, there is a sense that the club might end up prioritising the European campaign much like last season.

Solanke is renowned for scoring goals, and ultimately, he can be the player to transform the 2025/26 season into something better than it is right now.

Tottenham will have to improve on their Premier League form, but getting a point from 2-0 down against Manchester City is definitely considered positive.

Solanke will now hope to stay fit for the remainder of the Premier League season and also aim to help Tottenham progress in the Champions League too.

Tottenham Hotspur fans were full of praise for Xavi Simons in the first half against Manchester City, despite their team losing.

At an eerie Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Dutch international looked to be the only Spurs player who wanted to get something done for the team.

What grade do you give Xavi Simons’ time at Tottenham so far? 🤔

Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo both scored to fire Pep Guardiola’s side into the lead at the break against an abject Tottenham team, before Dominic Solanke pulled one back.

But if there was one positive from the first half, it was the display of Simons, whose work rate and willingness to carry the ball were the team’s only hope.

Tottenham fans believe that Xavi Simons is finally starting to show signs that he is adapting to life as a Premier League player.

Simons has had a tough start to life at Tottenham, but following a strong performance in Frankfurt and his showing against City, the 22-year-old has shown promising glimpses.

In the first half, he managed 46 touches, completed two dribbles, made 13 progressive carries, completed 24 passes and had three attempts at goal. Later, he set up Solanke for Spurs’ goal.

The youngster looked like the only Spurs player wanting to make something happen and the only attacking outlet for Thomas Frank’s team.

During the game, Spurs fans took to social media to discuss Simons’ performance and to praise the 22-year-old’s efforts.

One fan said: “It understandably took him a bit of time to adapt, but Xavi Simons is a quality player, no doubt about it, and we’re lucky to have him.”

“Xavi Simons is getting better and better every week in the Premier League,” stated another fan.

Fill in the blank: Tottenham should __________ Thomas Frank after Man City…

Sack or back Thomas Frank?

A third fan said: “Feel sorry for Xavi Simons, he’s far too good to be playing for us. The lad has ruined his career.”

There was yet more praise for him: “Xavi Simons is the only player trying to get something from this game for Spurs.”

Meanwhile, even neutral fans had praise for the midfielder, adding: “Xavi Simons has unbelievable potential. What a profile.”

Another opposition fan added: “Xavi Simons been really good with what he’s got to work with this game. He’d be a franchise if we went to another club.”

Luka Vuskovic has just earned huge praise from former Ballon d’Or winner Lothar Matthaus following his outstanding display against Bayern Munich.

The legendary German midfielder cannot believe the maturity which the teenager is already showing on the pitch in the Bundesliga.

Despite the likes of Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz on the pitch, the Spurs prodigy outshone everyone to be named Man of the Match.

During commentary on Sky Sports via t-online, Matthaus said: “Fantastic! That’s quality. At 18, he plays as if he’s already played in three World Cups.”

Bayern are targeting Vuskovic, as are many European clubs; however, Spurs will be desperate to keep hold of the teenage talent.

Luka Vuskovic to decide Tottenham future after the World Cup

Vuskovic has revealed that he plans to decide his future at Tottenham after next summer’s World Cup.

Speaking about his next step, Vuskovic told BILD: “We’ll decide after the World Cup what happens next, what’s best for me.”

Randal Kolo Muani is continuing his push to leave Tottenham Hotspur to rejoin Juventus before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Juventus have been working on Kolo Muani’s return; however, to no avail thus far, as Spurs are not keen to let him leave.

Change our mind: Tottenham MUST KEEP Randal Kolo Muani at all costs!

Last week, Kolo Muani scored for Tottenham in the Champions League, highlighting that he remains a key part of Thomas Frank’s plans.

But despite Spurs’ plans to keep hold of him, the French international is desperate to return to Turin before the transfer window closes.

Randal Kolo Muani is pushing to leave Tottenham

Juventus have an initial agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for Randal Kolo Muani, but are still awaiting Tottenham’s approval, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Bianconeri held talks with the French club and Spurs on Saturday as they continue with their attempt to sign the £76m player.

Juve have now positioned themselves to strike a deal for Kolo Muani should Tottenham find a replacement for the Frenchman.

Romano told his YouTube channel: “Juventus had new contacts this morning (Saturday). I don’t want to mislead anyone because it’s not long now, and with Kolo Muani, we’ve seen all sorts of things over the last year, especially this past summer.

“Juve continued to make calls throughout the day. Juventus has spoken with Paris Saint-Germain and has even reached an initial agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.

Finish the sentence: In the final days of the January window, I want Tottenham to sign ______________

What position do Tottenham need the most?

“If, and this is a big if, it’s reached, they’ll receive the OK from Tottenham, meaning Tottenham must tell Juventus, ‘OK, let’s release Kolo Muani’, in which case Juventus would be ready to complete the deal.”

Meanwhile, Matteo Moretto has revealed that Kolo Muani is doing everything to make the move happen and has held talks with Frank.

“But it depends on Tottenham, which has always said no so far, and also on a possible replacement. I’ll also add that Kolo Muani has met with the manager to see if there are grounds for his release, meaning Kolo Muani is truly doing everything he can to try to return to Juventus,” added Moretto.

The move now seems very unlikely to happen at this stage, given Spurs have very little time to sort a replacement.

Thomas Frank wants to keep Randal Kolo Muani at Tottenham

Frank is adamant that Kolo Muani will still be a Tottenham player after the deadline and claims he is a big fan of the striker.

When asked whether he wants to keep Kolo Muani beyond January, Frank responded by saying: “Yes. Next question!

“I really hope this goal and the performance can give him some confidence to build from. His qualities and abilities, I always liked them.”

Robbie Keane reacts after rumours he could become the next Tottenham manager - The Spurs News
Description

Robbie Keane is a bit of a Tottenham legend in the Premier League era based on what he did for the club as a player.

Signed from Leeds United, he scored 107 goals in 254 appearances for the club during a six-season stint.

After a pretty mediocre time with Liverpool, Spurs took him back to North London and he scored another 15 times in 52 outings, spread across three seasons.

These days, he’s managing Ferencvaros in Hungary and ahead of tonight’s Europa League game against Nottingham Forest, he’s been discussing the links between him and the Tottenham job should the club part with Thomas Frank.

Robbie Keane reacts to Tottenham rumours

Keane is earning his managerial stripes across the globe, and the fact that a win tonight can earn Ferencvaros a last-16 place in the Europa League is a great achievement.

Keane has remained coy on whether or not he’d take the Tottenham job, however, choosing instead to praise the man currently in possession of the esteemed position.

The former striker said in his press conference ahead of tonight’s game with Forest: “Thomas Frank is a very, very good manager. He just started there. As I said, a lot of stuff gets written, even when I was a player, going somewhere, going different places.

“But I’ll be honest with you, it goes over my head. I concentrate on what I’m doing. I think it’s nice that your name is there. Who puts it there? I have no clue, but it shows you that I’m doing OK to be even put there.

“I’m obviously aware of it, but I am happy here.”

Michael Carrick or Thomas Frank – Who would you prefer as the club’s manager right now?

Let us know who you'd prefer in the comments below…

Keane appointment would be a risk

Perhaps having tried elite managers and up-and-coming head coaches in the role, Frank’s replacement could actually be a former player who has plenty of managerial experience.

Keane managed ATK in India and Maccabi Tel Aviv before taking the Ferencvaros job in January last year and it’s not unfair to say that Tottenham would be a big step up.

However, if Tottenham do part with Frank, they’d be admitting defeat and what would the club really have to lose when it comes to appointing Keane?

The club would gain a manager who understands the ethos of the football club and having a man who considers himself a fan in charge could only bode well.

Tottenham would have tread with caution when it came to appointing Keane, but if Frank does get the axe, maybe the former striker can be the man to bring the good times back.
