Tottenham are back in action on Tuesday night when they face Newcastle United at home in another important clash. Spurs lost to Manchester United on Saturday, but they were not helped by the early sending off off Cristian Romero, effectively killing the game in the first half.

Thomas Frank will be hoping for a better-disciplined clash here, and for his men to pick up a statement win as they look to push towards the top half. And Newcastle are pretty bruised themselves, in the midst of a disappointing campaign that continued with a home defeat to Brentford last time out. Here we round up the latest injury news surrounding both sides ahead of this one.

Fabian Schar - Out

Schar is going to be out until late spring. Howe has said: “He had a successful surgery yesterday, which is great news. Everything went according to plan. I think it's difficult to give a definitive [timeline], but around three months out will be the diagnosis we'll work towards. If it's any quicker, then great, but we need to give Fabian time to recover.”

Tino Livramento - Out

Livramento is out until March. Howe has said: “He is having a second scan today, and fingers crossed it is good news and he will be back running outside. We are looking at an early March return if everything goes well.”

Emil Krafth - Out

Krafth is due back in the second half of this month. Howe has said: “He is trying to come back from a knee problem. He is not feeling absolutely at his best currently. I have got no definitive return day for him. We are taking it day from day, and we will see him back quickly.”

Joelinton - Out

Richarlison has a groin issue and he is due back around the same time as Krafth. Howe has said: “He flew on to Barcelona after the game [midweek]. It was good news. The specialist feels he only needs one injection, and that means his return could be quite quick, and we're looking at weeks, not months. Unsure of the exact date yet.”

Lewis Miley - Doubt

Howe said in his last update: “We'll find out today... I'm awaiting an update on him, but again it's not a serious injury, and we hope he'll be back very soon.” Miley will remain a doubt, but it does seem unlikely he will feature.

Anthony Gordon - Out

Howe said before the last game: “No major update on Anthony. Every chance he'll miss this game coming up at the weekend, but we hope it's not a serious injury and he'll be back pretty soon.” Gordon is likely to miss at least a couple of weeks given it’s a hamstring issue.

Djed Spence - Expected fit

Spence didn’t quite make the United game, but he should be fit for this one.

Destiny Udogie - Doubt

Udogie picked up a fresh injury against Manchester United, and given the quick turnaround, it is very unlikely here, but until Frank rules him out, he will go down as a doubt. Frank has said: “We will assess him tomorrow. So, of course, I will probably see you [media] guys in two days' time or less, and then we'll know more. We'll assess him tomorrow.”

Cristian Romero - Out (Suspended)

Romero is suspended after being sent off with a straight red card against Manchester United.

Kevin Danso - Out

Frank said over the weekend: “He hyper-extended his big toe when he landed on the foot of an opponent vs Frankfurt, that means the ligament snapped in the big toe. It's extremely unlucky; we don't know the length of it, but we have an appointment next week where we can clarify that.”

Pedro Porro - Out

Porro is looking at returning for the Arsenal game in the absolute best case scenario.

Lucas Bergvall - Out

Frank has said: “Unfortunately, Lucas picked up an ankle injury, so we keep being very unlucky with injuries, and it looks like it could be a longer one. He's been assessed over these two days, so [in terms of a return ] timeframe, I'll know more about the next couple of days.” Bergvall is expected to return after this game.

Ben Davies - Out

Davies has undergone ankle surgery and will be absent until some time in April.

Richarlison - Out

Richarlison is out but could now return earlier than expected. Frank has said: “That could be a dream scenario, and it just could happen [a return in the north London derby]. We will know a little bit more when we get closer - but it's in that bracket.”

Rodrigo Bentancur - Out

Bentancur has undergone surgery on his right hamstring and he will be absent until at least after the March international break.

Mohammed Kudus - Out

Kudus has been ruled out for months with a hamstring issue. Frank has confirmed: “Mohammed, unfortunately, is a bigger one to the tendon in the quad. That is one where we expect him back after the March international break.”

Dejan Kulusevski - Out

Frank has said: “We know it is a complicated injury. If there is one person who can accelerate that [recovery], it is Dejan. The most important thing is to remove the pain in the knee. He had an injection to help that ten days ago. We will know in 3-4 weeks if that has settled. And when it has settled, hopefully, he will be on the grass and from there, we will see what is happening.”

James Maddison - Out

Maddison is out for much - if not all - of the season with a knee injury. Frank said in December: “It's very early stages. It's still a long-term injury, so it's good to see him out there, but very early stages. There's no specific time frame. It will be a long time, unfortunately, before he's available.”

Tottenham are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they face a resurgent Manchester United. Spurs had a good week of last, picking up a big win in the Champions League and then coming from two goals down to draw with Manchester City.

Thomas Frank’s men will be hoping to follow up those results with a big one at Old Trafford as they look to play party poopers to Michael Carrick’s big start. The new Red Devils interim boss has won all three of his first league games in charge, including statement victories like Arsenal and Manchester City.

This is one of the most interesting ties of the Pemier League weekend, and here we put together the predictions from SportsKeeda’s Paul Merson and BBC Sport’s Chris Sutton.

Paul Merson

“This is a massive football match. Michael Carrick has started brilliantly at Manchester United, but we saw the same with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Ole at the wheel and all that! The only way Carrick can get this job permanently is if he loses four games and then responds by turning that run around. That is how you get measured in big jobs. I believe Solskjaer couldn't do it. If Carrick can do it, then we know he can cope with the pressure at Old Trafford.

“It's difficult to think who starts for Manchester United in this game. Do they go with Benjamin Sesko because he scored the late winner against Fulham? I'm not so sure. Sometimes, it suits these players to come off the bench rather than start a game.

“At the moment, I would say Manchester United are the big favourites to finish in the top five. That win over Fulham was a huge result. They only play once a week as well, which is a huge advantage compared to Liverpool and Chelsea. So I would have to call them favourites even though it's still very tight.

“Carrick will show Tottenham a lot of respect. I think this is a hard game to call. Spurs are obviously a better team when they have Dominic Solanke in their line-up. But I'm going to go for a Manchester United win here. Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur.”

Chris Sutton

“Manchester United were slightly fortunate to beat Fulham last time out. A draw would have been about right. Still, it was big for Benjamin Sesko to get their winner and I have got to say he put it away very nicely, especially because he should have scored with a header earlier in the game.

“Tottenham, meanwhile, produced a great comeback against Manchester City. I've talked about how much I rate Dominic Solanke and when he is up for Spurs, they are in a much better place as a team. There is a danger of getting carried away with United under Michael Carrick, and I am expecting Solanke to score again here, but it still feels like United will find a way to win it. Prediction: 2-1.”

Arsenal are now set to engage in a transfer race against Premier League rivals Chelsea after being beaten to a late Deadline Day coup by Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite being 13 places and 24 points ahead of Spurs in the top flight table, it was Thomas Frank’s side that won the battle to sign highly rated Hearts talent James Wilson at the close of the transfer market. While the 18-year-old was never going to be an investment for the immediate future by either Spurs or Arsenal, it could come as a blow to the Gunners should the teenager go on to achieve big things.

Speaking about the transfer on Sky Sports as it was confirmed, former Premier League striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: “I’d go to the club that is going to give me the most minutes, who tells me the right plan, what they are going to do with me and how they are going to get me better.

“They can’t tell you exactly, but if he goes to Arsenal and they say he’s going to be for the future and go on loan... but Spurs say he will be part of the first team and get minutes here and there, be really part of it, then the decision is very easily made for me.”

Arsenal and Chelsea plot Middlesbrough swoop

Arsenal may look to keep those words in mind as they prepare to do battle with Chelsea to sign Middlesbrough forward Cruz Ibeh. TEAMtalk reports of interest from both top flight sides in the 17-year-old.

Ibeh is widely thought to be one of the most exciting prospects that Boro have produced from the academy with Liverpool and Manchester City also ‘monitoring developments closely’. Middlesbrough have already seen midfield twins Anton and Bailey Palmer signed by Brighton last year with goalkeeper Isaac Collinson poached by Chelsea before that.

It’s a really strong time for the Championship side’s academy and Ibeh could be the next to be scouted. The forward signed his first professional contract in November which Middlesbrough are hoping gives them some power in any potential negotiations.

The player made his senior debut last month, coming off the bench in the FA Cup third round defeat to Fulham. Since then, he bagged a hat-trick for the under-21 side in a 6-1 romp over Ipswich Town.

Hellberg - Cruz Ibeh is ‘very talented boy’

The report claims that Middlesbrough hope to keep Ibeh at the Riverside Stadium for upcoming seasons with the promise of frequent first team game time something that Arsenal or Chelsea would likely not be able to offer for a number of years.

Speaking after Ibeh’s debut, Boro manager Kim Hellberg said: “He's a very talented boy. He has been training with us. He has a lot of quality. He's young so we wanted to get him this taste, playing against Premier League centre-backs and to learn from it. He must grow from it. Go back and use it as energy to train even harder, train even better.

“I think those 10 minutes will give him a lot of experience. And because of us being short in that position for the moment with the injuries, that was a good chance to give him some minutes, to invest in his future, and then he has to grow from it.

“That will be the key thing for him. It was a good chance to give an opportunity to a young player from our own academy and he'll now train even harder to get more chances. He’s a good player and has a good possibility to be a good player for Boro.”

Tottenham Hotspur youngster James Wilson has been sent a warning message by Hearts coach Derek McInnes after he quit the Scottish outfit to sign for the Premier League club on Deadline Day.

Spurs beat North London rivals Arsenal to the transfer of the 18-year-old, who has arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a loan deal with the option of a permanent £2.5 million transfer this summer.

Wilson is a graduate of the Hearts academy and is highly rated, despite struggling for game time under McInnes this season. The forward had been afforded just 77 minutes in the Scottish Premiership.

McInnes - Wilson ‘better than’ Spurs academy

Nonetheless, Hearts wanted him to stay closer to home and seek out a loan in Scotland with St Johnstone keen on the player. However, he chose to make the move to England and be deployed in the Premier League 2 with the Spurs’ youth team.

Speaking after the move, McInnes wasn’t overly positive with his verdict. He said: “James wanted to go, that has to be said. So you don't want to keep a player who then becomes unhappy.

“I couldn't guarantee him minutes, such is the way it's been. I told him and his agent knew that our preference was for him to stay, fight for your place, be part of something. Get a loan in Scotland if need be, if you need to top your minutes up, and we can maybe recall you so you still get the best of both worlds.

“His head was turned with the Tottenham thing. First of all it was Arsenal, then Arsenal went quiet and then all of a sudden Tottenham came to the table yesterday [Monday] afternoon. I don't think it's the right move for him. Ultimately, it's academy football and I think he's better than that, but it was something James wanted to do.

“Like I say, we made it clear that our preference was for him to stay and be part of something here. He made the decision and I hope it goes well for him because he's a great kid and we'll see how it plays out. For us, I just need to concentrate on the players who are here, who want to be here and who want to play their part.”

Tottenham beat Arsenal to Scottish youngster

Speaking about the transfer on Sky Sports as it was confirmed, former Premier League striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: “I’d go to the club that is going to give me the most minutes, who tells me the right plan, what they are going to do with me and how they are going to get me better.

“They can’t tell you exactly, but if he goes to Arsenal and they say he’s going to be for the future and go on loan... but Spurs say he will be part of the first team and get minutes here and there, be really part of it, then the decision is very easily made for me.”

Tottenham Hotspur had been expected to conduct a busy January of transfer business to help Thomas Frank find stability in his North London tenure, but it proved to be a relatively quiet window for the club.

Santos left-back Souza was brought in but looks to be an investment for the future with the only marquee signing being that of Conor Gallagher. The former Chelsea man arrived from Atletico Madrid on a £35 million move and has already played three times for the side.

When Gallagher arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it had been reported that the club beat Premier League rivals Aston Villa to the deal. However, now that the window is closed, it’s emerged just how strong the interest was from Villa Park.

Tottenham Hotspur landed Aston Villa huge January transfer blow

It appears that Spurs dealt a big transfer blow to Unai Emery. The London outfit had been on the receiving end of a painful hijack themselves last summer when Arsenal swooped in to nab Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, but clearly have the mettle to do the same.

The Athletic report that Aston Villa seriously chased signing Gallagher after learning the player was available. That came after Unai Emery pushed the club to sign the player in 2024, when Gallagher chose to move to Spain instead.

Aston Villa have a strong relationship with Atletico Madrid and it’s claimed that the groundwork for a January switch had been laid in the weeks prior to the window opening. Gallagher himself is even said to have held talks with the Midlands outfit.

It was only when Spurs came storming in that Aston Villa are thought to have feared not being able to complete the transfer. It’s added that Gallagher started delaying decisions at the point to listen to new offers.

Unai Emery namechecks Conor Gallagher in transfer statement

It’s thought that the ultimate blow was delivered by Spurs being able to offer Gallagher a substantially higher pay package than the Villains. Sources close to the player maintain that no agreement had ever been reached with Aston Villa with the club thought to have been keen to avoid a salary bidding war with Tottenham Hotspur.

At the time, Emery spoke out about Villa’s financial power compared to rivals and outlined what he thought still made the club an attractive opportunity. He said: "We have our own way, and we are confident. We have very good players.

“We are a huge club, we have fantastic supporters. Villa Park is special, it’s a fortress. But we don’t have the potential to sign, for example, Manchester City signing Semenyo. Like Tottenham signing Gallagher. Okay.

“But we have our own power and we will exploit our capacity. We are positive and we have enough positive energy to get to the challenges that we have - without the power another team can have.”

Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Arsenal in the transfer race for Hearts hotshot James Wilson in a Deadline Day coup, with the player set to initially join the under-21 side.

The bitter North London rivals were known to be competing for the transfer but, where the Gunners hijacked a Spurs move for Eberechi Eze in the summer, but it is Thomas Frank’s side that has won this time around.

In a fresh update this evening, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano wrote: “James Wilson to Tottenham, here we go! Deal in place for Scottish 18 year old striker to join #THFC project. Arsenal were offering a trial while Spurs offer loan deal with buy option clause now agreed with Hearts. Medical happening now with formal steps next.”

Spurs set to beat Arsenal in transfer race

Hearts currently have an opening in their front line due to Lawrence Shankland being injured, but they are not considering Wilson for the slot, reportedly seeking a new forward ahead of the Scottish deadline at 11pm on Monday.

Wilson has eight goals in 45 appearances for Hearts, having broken into the first team last season. The teenager is not featured in every Hearts matchday squad in Scottish Premiership action and has had just 77 league minutes this season.

Richarlison, Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani continue to struggle for potency up top for Spurs and, while Wilson is not an immediate solution, he presents a potential long term solution to the striker position.

Thomas Frank on North London rivalry

The ‘here we go’ verdict is a blow for the Gunners, who are also looking to recruit young and invest in the future. Arsenal agreed a deal for Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero in December, having confirmed the signing of 16-year-old Shamrock Rovers forward Victor Ozhianvuna in October.

Speaking about the transfer on Sky Sports, former Premier League striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: “I’d go to the club that is going to give me the most minutes, who tells me the right plan, what they are going to do with me and how they are going to get me better.

“They can’t tell you exactly, but if he goes to Arsenal and they say he’s going to be for the future and go on loan... but Spurs say he will be part of the first team and get minutes here and there, be really part of it, then the decision is very easily made for me.”

Tottenham are now said to be interested in an Arsenal transfer hijack, with a striker reportedly of interest. It has been a largely frustrating window for Spurs outside of the signing of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid.

Thomas Frank needs attackers, with Brennan Johnson having been sold, whole Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus have been ruled out with injury until at least March.

Spurs need forward options urgently, and they have little time to find them, given Monday’s deadline is as early at 7pm. But while the efforts continue to land first-team impact players, the North London club are also keeping an eye out of other good-value deals involving young players with big potential.

One player who fits that category is Hearts striker James Wilson, who is attracting plenty of attention on Monday, At 18 years of age, Wilson has already racked up 32 league appearances for Hearts, finding the net five times, though he has struggled for appearances this season.

According to the Edinburgh Evening News, Arsenal and Tottenham are now battling for the striker’s signature, It’s claimed Hearts will consider a loan deal at the end of the window, but their plans could be forced to change if either Arsenal or Tottenham come in with a significant offer. St Johnstone are said to hold potential interest in a loan move.

Hearts currently have an opening in their front line due to Lawrence Shankland being injured, but they are not considering Wilson for the slot, reportedly seeking a new forward ahead of the Scottish deadline at 11pm on Monday.

As far as Tottenham are concerned, the move would of course be one for the future. Wilson would likely join the under-21s squad for the rest of the season and then go out on loan next season, unless an instant loan deal can be found ahead of the deadline.

Either way, it may be a tricky deal to pull off given the competition with Arsenal and the ticking clock.

Tottenham were reminded of their need to strengthen one specific position after their entertaining draw with Manchester City on Sunday. Thomas Frank’s men followed up a big Champions League win during the week with a comeback draw with City at home.

Frank’s men went two goals behind and rallied back thanks to a brace from Dominic Solanke, the second of which will go down as one of - if not the - goals of the season.

Solanke pulled off an Olivier Giroud-esc - excuse the Arsenal reference - scorpion kick and rescued a point in impressive fashion. But Solanke’s day soured when he limped off with a possible injury.

It’s an all too familiar story for Solanke, who has struggled with injury throughout his time with Spurs. The 28-year-old has now had six different injuries, should this prove to be an injury as expected, missing 42 games in all.

Solanke has scored 11 goals for Tottenham, which is respectable given his limited league appearances, but his injury record is concerning. The striker did limp back onto the pitch to clap the fans after the game, so it could be a case of cramp or something similar, but we will know more in the coming hours.

What we do know is that Solanke has too often struggled with fitness, and Spurs just don;t have the required depth at the top end of the pitch, especially after the departure of Brennan Johnson earlier in the window, and indeed the Richarlison injury that will keep him out for at least two months.

Spurs need to act now to sign Duran

Tottenham need to sign a forward, and possibly two forwards if we are including wingers, before the window shuts on Monday evening. Spurs are not going to qualify for Europe while relying solely on Solanke, who can’t consistently keep fit, and they will undoubtedly regret not finding a striker to add competition and an alternative option.

One of the obvious options is former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, who is reportedly being offered to clubs by Fenerbahce ahead of the Monday deadline. It;s claimed Fenerbahce want out of the loan deal they have with Al-Nassr, and that means Duran could be available on a loan deal and some potential compensation to Fenerbahce.

Duran scored 12 goals in 55 league appearances for Villa prior to his big money move to Al-Nassr, worth £64million plus add-ons. He scored eight goals in 13 league games in the Saudi Pro League, but did not seem to settle well, leading to a loan move to Türkiye.

Spurs need a frontman who can challenge Solanke and add something different, and Duran can offer that while already being experienced in Premier League football.

During his Villa days, Duran was described by John McGinn as being ‘nuts’ but ‘quality’. The Scot said: "Big Jhon [Duran] is a bit nuts and is a nightmare to have in your team, but he's got quality. We need to keep his feet on the ground over the next couple of days."

Tottenham Hotspur turned to Thomas Frank as their head coach last summer. He was picked as their replacement for Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked after finishing 17th last season. Prior to his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Frank caught the eye at Brentford.

It has been an inconsistent start for the Dane in this campaign and he is under pressure. His side are back in action this weekend as they aim to hit some form. They face a home clash against Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur linked with Jhon Duran swoop

Spurs have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign Al-Nassr striker Jhon Duran along with Leeds United, as per a report by TEAMtalk. Frank has the chance to bring in some new signings before the end of the January transfer window on Monday at 7pm. He also has the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door before the deadline.

Duran, 22, left Aston Villa for the Middle East for a fee rising to £71million back in January 2025. He is currently away on loan from the Saudi club at Fenerbahce. The attacker has scored five goals in 21 games in all competitions this term but his future in Turkey is up in the air.

The Colombia international, who has 17 caps to his name, moved to Villa Park back in 2023 from Chicago Fire in MLS. He went on to become an important player during his time in the Midlands and fired 20 goals in 78 matches altogether. He was then sold by Unai Emery’s side when Al-Nassr came calling for his services.

Would Jhon Duran suit Tottenham Hotspur?

Duran would give Spurs another option at the top end of the pitch. He would provide them with more competition and depth in attack. In addition, he could offer them more pace and power going forward.

He was slammed by Simon Jordan after his transfer to Al-Nassr 12 months ago. He said on talkSPORT at the time: "I have very little respect for this player going to Saudi, I don't. At 21 years of age, this is not a super competitive league. This is not a world stage league, and I don't know why a 21 year old will be going there besides one thing and one thing only, money.

"You don't see many paupers at top-level football. You don't go into football thinking that ultimately you're gonna be anything other than successful, and if you go to Saudi, it's because you're going for one reason and one reason only, for money.

“At 21 years of age, I think that's a shame because he's not going into competitive football. I hope that he reaps the whirlwind for that in football terms. He won't reap the whirlwind for it economically. How do you develop in the substandard league? How do you get better? The way you get better in most sports is by playing with people that are better than you, because it makes you drag your standard up.”

West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur both face a hectic end to the January transfer window with incomings and outgoings expected at both clubs.

The winter market is a notoriously difficult window for Premier League clubs to finalise deals but, after poor starts to the league campaign, both Spurs and the Hammers were left with little option but to splash the cash.

West Ham moved early with £50 million splurged on Taty Castellanos and Pablo but those deals look to be winners with the fresh attacking impetus spurring Nuno Espirito Santo’s side onto victories over QPR, Spurs and Sunderland. Meanwhile, Tottenham were relatively quick in snapping up Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid with youngster Souza also coming through the door.

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham face busy end to January window

There’s still work to be done for both sides. West Ham must recruit a centre-back to help the out-of-sorts trio of Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos. Another midfielder also wouldn’t go amiss following the departures of Lucas Paqueta and James Ward-Prowse.

Meanwhile, Thomas Frank’s side are in desperate need of attacking impetus. Richarlison has eight goals across all competitions but has proven to be streaky, and is currently out with a hamstring injury. Dominic Solanke has finally returned from his fitness problems but another setback never feels far away.

What’s more, Mathys Tel has been linked with a loan move to Paris FC amid his unhappiness with playing time and Randal Kolo Muani is being pursued by Juventus. Neither of those moves are expected to go through before this weekend’s fixtures, meaning a potentially frantic Deadline Day on Monday.

Should Spurs see both Tel and Kolo Muani depart, they will need to bring in another wide man. Realistic options still available this month are dwindling with Tottenham missing out on targets such as Antoine Semenyo and Oscar Bobb.

Spurs harbour £25m interest in Crysencio Summerville

One player who has been linked with the club is Crysencio Summerville. The Mail claimed that Spurs were readying a £25 million offer for the player last week and are the only Premier League side credited with real interest.

The lack of competition makes a potential deal for Summerville a viable - and somewhat inevitable - option come Deadline Day. What’s more, the Hammers have signed Adama Traore from Wolves to bolster their options on the flank - and could need the cash injection for problem positions in defence and midfield.

However, allowing Summerville to leave is something West Ham cannot afford to do. The former Leeds United man had never really dazzled at the London Stadium until the turn of the year but is now the team’s most in-form player.

It’s the first time this season that a West Ham first team star has found himself in a purple patch. Summerville has three goals and two assists in his last three matches and looks reborn.

The 24-year-old is playing with a confidence and a drive that can be infectious in bringing up the level in his teammates. A player loving their football and finding form is invaluable to Nuno - no £25 million offer should be enough for the club to overlook that.
