Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans have voiced their frustration after Cristian Romero appeared to criticise the club’s medical staff, raising fresh concerns over Spurs’ handling of injuries.

During the course of this season, Tottenham Hotspur have had their fair share of injury woes. At one point, 12 players were sidelined, including Cristian Romero and his centre-back partner, Micky van de Ven.

Romero, who was out for 86 days with a quadriceps injury, has since returned to action, featuring in Spurs’ last four matches.

However, in recent interviews and social media posts, Romero has expressed gratitude to his national team’s medical staff—comments that many believe are subtle digs at Tottenham’s own medical department.

Tottenham fans react to worrying Cristian Romero story

Just days ago, we reported that Romero was unhappy with the way Tottenham’s medical team handled his injury.

Now, Spurs fans have made their feelings clear, taking to social media to share their frustrations—and the general sentiment seems to be unanimous.

One fan fumed: “Everything in the club is collapsing, just insane.” Another questioned the club’s injury record, saying: “Not surprising. Why are the injuries taking almost a year to resolve?”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Another supporter didn’t hold back, stating: “And we, as fans, should be upset by this news. We’re supposed to be one of the top professional clubs, but it’s becoming apparent that our medical department is a shambles.”

One fan even speculated that Romero could refuse a contract extension, writing: “Not a chance he signs a new contract. As for the Tottenham medical team, it’s an absolute joke. This has been going on for far too long now.”

A further comment read: “All Spurs medical staff should’ve been fired long ago—too many injuries, and players are sidelined for ridiculous amounts of time.”

Spurs medical team still seems to be a problem

It is clear Tottenham fans are growing increasingly frustrated with the club’s medical team. Many believe they’re at the heart of the injury crisis that has disrupted the Lilywhites’ season.

However, it’s worth noting that Spurs have already made changes to their medical staff behind the scenes, with the current medical team not the same as the one they started the season with. Despite this, concerns remain.

With Tottenham reportedly looking to rebuild both their medical and training facilities, perhaps this is another area the club should be reviewing.

As for the Argentine, if anything, this season has proven that he is always ready to voice out his opinions.

Description

Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall has been ruled out of Sweden’s upcoming international match, and he will now head back to London without playing a single minute during the international break.

While some of Tottenham Hotspur’s stars have been involved in World Cup qualifiers during the international break, others have been called up for friendlies.

One of those is Lucas Bergvall, who would have been relishing the chance to take his club form into the international set-up and deliver a statement performance for Sweden.

However, Bergvall missed Saturday’s friendly against Luxembourg due to illness, and the midfielder has now been handed yet another blow.

Lucas Bergvall will return to Tottenham

It has now been reported by Fotbollskanalen that the 19-year-old has not been passed fit for Sweden’s clash against Northern Ireland in Stockholm on Tuesday.

There was initially some hope that Bergvall would be fit to play Northern Ireland, which is why the teenager was allowed to skip the training camp in Marbella last week and head straight to Sweden.

However, the youngster has not recovered in time from his illness and will now be allowed to return to Hotspur Way ahead of schedule.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Will this be a cause for concern for Ange Posteocoglou?

Bergvall has been Tottenham’s most consistent performer over recent months, which is why this development might be a cause for concern for the Lilywhites ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge next week.

However, given that it is illness rather than any muscle injury, he should have more than enough time to recover fully for the London derby, and perhaps more importantly, the first leg against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Why Robbie Keane booked Michael Dawson at the Tottenham legends game - The Spurs Web
Description

The Tottenham fans were treated to a great evening on Sunday as Spurs Legends took on AC Milan Glorie, and Robbie Keane was involved in a hilarious moment towards the end of the first half, having a joke at the expense of his former teammate Michael Dawson.

There was a decent turnout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, and the fans who made the trip got an opportunity to see plenty of Tottenham legends in the famous Lilywhite shirt once again.

The likes of Dimitar Berbatov, Ledley King and Jermain Defoe turned out for Tottenham while Milan boasted big names like Dida, Cafu and Andrea Pirlo.

Tottenham emerged 6-2 winners, with Keane enthralling fans with a first-half hattrick, but perhaps the most entertaining moment of the game came with ten minutes to go for the interval.

Robbie Keane shows a yellow card to Michael Dawson

Dawson tried to launch a long through-ball for Defoe to run onto, but with passing not being the Englishman’s biggest strength, the ball was way overhit.

The centre-back’s pass sailed past Milan’s defensive line, as well as Defoe, perhaps showing the rustiness of the centre-back, who hung up his boots four years ago.

Keane had a laugh at Dawson’s expense by grabbing the referee’s yellow card before showing his pal a joke booking for his horrible pass.

Andrea Pirlo turns back the clock at the Tottenham Stadium

While Spurs fans were treated to a goal-fest by their heroes of yesteryear, the best goal of the game came from a Milan legend.

Andrea Pirlo turned back to the clock by curling a brilliant free-kick into the top corner, the likes of which the Italian magician produced many times over the course of his long and distinguished career.

The whole stadium stood up in applause, with even the Spurs fans realising that they were privileged to watch the great Pirlo showcase his technical brilliance once again.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted to Aaron Lennon’s performance against AC Milan Glorie, with the 37-year-old winger claiming two assists on his North London return.

Sunday afternoon saw Tottenham Legends take on AC Milan Glorie in a spectacular event hosted to raise money for charity. It also gave fans the chance to watch some of the footballing greats from the past.

The match, played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, was filled with talking points—from Robbie Keane’s hat-trick to Jermain Defoe’s goal, two assists for Aaron Lennon, and a stunning free-kick from Andrea Pirlo.

Of course, our ex-captain and fan favourite Ledley King, also managed to get 30 minutes under his belt in what was a truly nostalgic event. It had everything you could ask for.

Aaron Lennon rolls back the years in Tottenham charity match

Tottenham Legends emerged victorious with a 6-2 win, and while some players had clearly lost a yard of pace and physicality, one man stood out—Lennon.

He not only grabbed a brace of assists but also tormented Milan’s defence with his blistering speed and intelligent movement.

Despite being retired, many Spurs fans couldn’t help but wonder if the 37-year-old could still do a job for the current team.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham Hotspur fans took to social media to express their thoughts: One fan wrote: “Azza retired and at 37 starts over pretty much all our wingers, doesn’t he? And I’m not even taking the piss.”

Another added: “Genuinely walks into our current side. Watching him play today was more exciting than watching any of our current wingers this season (bar Mikey Moore). Will always be a fan favourite.”

One supporter reminisced about his ability to get fans on their feet: “When he got the ball, he’d get you off your seat. He’d go past players as if they weren’t there. Amazing player.”

Another simply stated: “Would be our best winger still rn.”

One fan summed it up perfectly: “Still remember him coming off the bench for his debut. Knew he was special within minutes. Top player.”

Lennon’s impact and legacy at Spurs

Without doubt, Lennon was a special player for Tottenham Hotspur. In his debut season, he made 29 appearances, was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year, and earned a spot in England’s World Cup squad.

He was also part of the last Tottenham team to lift a trophy in 2008, and his goal against Arsenal in the famous 5-1 League Cup semi-final second leg remains iconic.

A truly gifted winger, Lennon’s pace and dribbling ability made him a nightmare for defenders, and it’s no surprise Spurs fans still hold him in such high regard.

Tottenham weigh up a bid for £50m Brazilian international - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly weighing up a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ midfield enforcer Joao Gomes this summer, with the North London club keen to bolster their squad ahead of the new campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be busy this summer, and that comes as no surprise given their precarious league position, which sees them languishing in 14th place.

This season has brutally exposed the lack of depth in Ange Postecoglou’s squad, with certain players failing to deliver when called upon. The inconsistency in performances has only highlighted areas that desperately need strengthening.

Spurs could be set to splash the cash, potentially exceeding £60million in spending, factoring in the £20.9million obligation to buy Kevin Danso and the £45million option tied to Mathys Tel’s loan move to Tottenham. But the recruitment drive may not stop there.

Spurs weighing up move for Joao Gomes

GIVEMESPORT claim that Spurs are said to be considering whether to table a bid for Joao Gomes when the summer transfer window opens.

The 23-year-old Brazilian has been on the Lilywhites’ radar for nearly a year, with the club’s recruitment team keeping close tabs on his performances at Molineux.

Gomes has impressed in the Premier League, and Tottenham are keen to win the race for his signature. However, Wolves are reluctant to let him go without a fight.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Midlands outfit are determined to keep hold of their midfield dynamo and will only entertain offers that match their valuation, which is believed to be in the region of £50million.

Tottenham would face competition for Gomes from other clubs

Sources indicate that Tottenham’s admiration for Gomes dates back to last summer, and their interest has remained strong despite the hefty price tag Wolves have attached to him. But Spurs are not the only club eyeing the combative midfielder.

Liverpool, who are in the hunt for reinforcements as they prepare for a second season under Arne Slot, have also been credited with an interest.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are on the lookout for long-term successors to Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, and Gomes is firmly on their shortlist.

Complicating matters further, the Brazilian still has three years left on his current deal, putting Wolves in a strong negotiating position.

Five things we learned from Tottenham Legends vs AC Milan Glorie

Five things we learned from Tottenham Legends vs AC Milan Glorie - The Spurs Web
Description

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosted a pulsating legends match between Spurs and AC Milan this afternoon, with Andrea Pirlo, Dimitar Berbatov, Robbie Keane and more taking to the pitch.

Let’s take a look at the five things we learned from the match:

Legends attack could give the Tottenham defence problems

Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe running in behind, Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov pulling the strings – the current Tottenham team have struggled against worse this season. Both JD and Azza look like they could still comfortably play at a decent level today if they wanted to.

It was so nostalgic to see those classic jinking runs down the right from Lennon, entertaining a brand new generation of young Spurs fans in attendance today. Although Keane and Berba may not have as much in the legs as the other two, they still ooze class between the pockets, picking out balls over the top for fun. Roll back the years!

Three goals for Keano, one for Defoe, and two assists for Aaron Lennon. That would be a decent Fantasy Football haul that.

The return of Darude Sandstorm

Tottenham may have binned off Sandstorm for the senior team, but they brought it back this afternoon for every Spurs goal. I just didn’t expect to hear it so often! Darude must be racking up the copyright payments after today. Bring it back for the Europa League quarter-finals, I say.

Ledley King lasts 30 minutes on Tottenham return

Oh Ledley, Ledley, he’s only got one knee! He may be 13 years retired, but King still managed to get 30 minutes under his belt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, captaining the team and earning a clean sheet against the likes of Andrea Pirlo. The Spurs legend – who made over 300 appearances in Lilywhite – got a standing ovation when he made way for Sebastien Bassong after the half-hour mark. He is still such a loved figure in North London, especially in a week when Sol Campbell made headlines speaking out against Tottenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Andrea Pirlo scores a free-kick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Yes, he was playing for the other team, but having Pirlo curl a free-kick into the top corner feels like a bit of a badge of honour. The diminutive Italian midfielder may be 45 now and struggled to deal with the physicality of the Beast that is Sandro, but he still has all the technique in those magic feet. As the old saying goes, the football never leaves you. Seeing random moments of nostalgic brilliance like that is what these Legends games are all about!

Give it a few more years

Seeing so many of the Martin Jol/Harry Redknapp era out on the pitch again was so fun and nostalgic. It got me thinking – and prepare to feel old – give it a few more years and we might see some of the Poch era involved. Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Victor Wanyama, Hugo Lloris… there are tears in my eyes already!

A great event to raise money for charity

It was great to see tens of thousands of people out this afternoon to at least fill the bottom half of the stadium for a great cause. All money raised will go toward the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, which is the Club’s official charitable body, and Fondazione Milan.

Tottenham say the money will be used to: ‘Inspire and empower thousands of people living within our local communities through programmes spanning football and multi-sports, health and wellbeing, employability and education.

‘Beneficiaries of the community chest will include the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and mental health provision for students at the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham, the Club-sponsored Sixth Form College on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium campus.’

Tottenham Legends player ratings vs AC Milan Glorie as Robbie Keane runs riot - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur put their iconic stadium to good use during the international break as Spurs Legends took on AC Milan Glorie for a fantastic charity event.

With goals from Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe, Sandro, and Michael Brown, let’s take a look at the player ratings from Tottenham Legends 6-2 AC Milan Glorie.

Tottenham Legends player ratings vs Andrea Pirlo’s AC Milan Glorie

Heurelho Gomes: 6

Pulled off a fantastic fingertip save from Federico Giunti in the first half to keep AC Milan out. Beyond that, he barely had anything to do apart from admire the stadium view. The first half finished 5-0 when he was swapped out for Michel Vorm.

Pascal Chimbonda: 7

Played a solid 45 minutes of football at right-back to allow the marauding Lennon to do damage in the AC Milan box. You can tell he still plays football – one of the fittest defenders out there on the pitch.

Michael Dawson: 8

Pulled off a fair few genuinely impressive bits of defending. He even went airborne with a volleyed clearance early in the second half. You can tell he really wanted to earn that clean sheet against AC Milan. Unfortunately, despite Daws holding a good line against Cafu in the 62nd minute, the offside flag stayed down and Zaccardo tapped the ball home for Milan. Stopped a certain Milan goal with a last-ditch slide tackle to intercept in front of his own net.

Ledley King: 6

Managed to get 30 minutes under his belt which frankly is impressive with just one knee. Nostalgic to see him out there ordering the back four around again though. Also worth mentioning he technically kept a clean sheet, with the score at 3-0 when he departed. Well in, Ledley.

Younes Kaboul: 7

Kept Cafu and Ricardo Oliviera quiet on his side – yes, you read that correctly. Kaboul is still in great shape and an absolute mountain to get past. He can still shift with that deceptive pace though.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Sandro: 8

Man of the Match at the San Siro in 2011 and up against Pirlo in midfield this afternoon. Earned a cheer from the crowd when he went to ground with a rare Legends charity match slide tackle and still somehow managed to run away with the ball.

In the 34th minute, he let fire from 25 yards and arrowed one into the bottom corner – not quite his Man United goal but still a great finish. Of course, he did Heung-min Son’s celebration and had a little dance on the touchline after, in true Beast style.

Teemu Taino: 7.5

A delightful, delicate ball between the lines to set Robbie Keane in behind after 18 minutes – well worth the assist. Put in an impressive shift in the engine room, especially since he was surrounded by so much attacking talent who didn’t necessarily want to do the grunt work.

Aaron Lennon: 9

Had the AC Milan defence scrambling within seconds of kicking off with a trademark scuttle down the right wing. Eight minutes later, he timed another run to perfection to square the ball across the face for Keane to tap home – shades of that infamous Crouch goal! He recorded his second assist of the game in the 39th minute, another classically unselfish Lennon square across the box.

Jermain Defoe: 8

Had the ball in the back of the net with a neat chip over Dida after just six minutes but was a yard or two offside. A classic Defoe finish on 14 minutes as he collected the ball, dropped a shoulder, and reversed the ball into the near corner with no backlift.

Dimitar Berbatov: 8

Dimitar Berbatov’s charity walkathon was a treat to watch. I would say he hasn’t lost a step but there was barely a step to lose. That first touch hasn’t left him and he still oozes class on the ball. He had the stadium gasping when he effortlessly brought the ball down from head height on the stretch before setting Defoe away on a break.

Robbie Keane: 10

Someone has been watching Harry Kane highlights. Keane dropped into the pockets for fun between the AC Milan lines and picked out balls over the top to Defoe and Lennon. Much like Kane, that didn’t stop him from popping up at the back post to tap home a Lennon cross on nine minutes.

A delightful dummy to let the ball run into Defoe’s feet in the build-up to the second goal too. Beat the offside trap with a run between the lines on 18 minutes before slotting home past Dida with ease. The hat-trick was complete after just 39 minutes, once again tapping home into an unguarded net from a Lennon cross. Safe to say, he got a huge standing ovation when he went off after 55 minutes.

Substitutes:

Michel Vorm: 5

Came on at half-time to replace Gomes between the sticks. Nothing he could do to stop Cristian Zaccardo from tapping home after a questionable offside decision. Got beat by an Andrea Pirlo free-kick into the top corner, but that seems like a badge of honour if anything.

Sebastien Bassong: 5

Came on for Ledley King after 30 minutes and earned a clean sheet during his time on the pitch. Came off again after the 59th minute.

Benoit Assout-Ekotto: 5

Came on at half-time for Kaboul. Benny famously didn’t know who Tottenham were playing most weeks during his time at the club, but even he has surely heard of Andrea Pirlo.

Steffen Freund: 5

Came on at half-time for Chimbonda and put in a shift at right-back. He definitely looks younger than his 55 years, that’s for sure!

Chris Perry: 5

Came on at half-time to fill in at centre-back and right-back for Tottenham.

Michael Brown: 7

Came on at half-time and got through a whole lot of running for some of his tired teammates. Rolled the ball home after some lovely build-up play from Defoe and Berba presented him with a golden chance.

Teddy Sheringham: 5

Replace hat-trick hero Robbie Keane after 55 minutes to one of the biggest cheers of the afternoon. He may be 58 years old but he was still one of the fittest out there. Remember, he didn’t even retire from football until he was 42! Went close to scoring with a curled left-footed shot toward the end of the game.

Allan Nielsen: 6

Came on for Bassong on the 59th minute. Full of energy in midfield. One of Tottenham’s more impressive players in a tired second half.

Mark Falco: 5

At 64 years of age, Falco was the oldest member of the Tottenham squad but still managed to come on for a good 20 minutes. He came so close to scoring too!

Description

Dejan Kulusevski has been a standout performer for Tottenham Hotspur, not just with his goals and assists but also with his relentless work rate. Now, the stats back it up—he leads the Premier League in distance covered per 90 minutes.

We’ve rated Dejan Kulusevski as our best player for Spurs this season. The Swedish international has been immense for the Lilywhites, racking up ten goals and ten assists until Kulusevski suffered a foot injury which saw him miss the recent matches.

But beyond his direct goal contributions, the Swede’s influence on Tottenham Hotspur’s attack is undeniable.

Recent stats show that Kulusevski tops the charts for key passes without recording an assist in 2025—a testament to his creativity and the unfortunate finishing of his teammates.

Dejan Kulusevski’s work rate sets him apart

Indeed, it’s fair to say his teammates have let him down in the final third, but another statistic highlights just how much he gives to the team.

According to data from Opta, among regular starters—those with at least 1,500 minutes played—Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski is the Premier League’s marathon man, covering an impressive 12.3 km per 90 minutes.

Only a handful of players come close, with West Ham’s Tomáš Souček and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva also ranking high, alongside Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali and Southampton’s Flynn Downes.

MORE SPURS STORIES

How Kulusevski compares to the Premier League’s hardest workers

The data further reveals that, among players who have played at least 600 minutes this season, Brentford’s Yehor Yarmoliuk runs the most per game, averaging 12.9 km per 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimarães has covered more total ground than anyone in the league this season.

Of course, Kulusevski’s relentless running, pressing, and creativity have been pivotal for Tottenham Hotspur this season.

In fact, there is a case to be made that the versatile winger has been the most improved player for Spurs this campaign.

Anyone who watches the north London club regularly knows his impact extends beyond stats—he’s a tireless force in attack and a player who always puts in the hard yards for his team.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans were buzzing after Wilson Odobert’s impressive display for France’s Under-21s, with the winger putting England to the sword with his electric pace and precise deliveries.

Wilson Odobert has been outstanding for Tottenham Hotspur since making his comeback from injury, and he carried that momentum into international duty on Friday.

The 20-year-old was a menace down the flanks, causing England’s defence all sorts of problems.

The Spurs man was instrumental in France’s opener, tormenting Rico Lewis with some slick footwork before whipping in a pinpoint low cross for Hugo Ekitike to slot home.

Odobert wasn’t done yet. Ten minutes into the second half, he burst down the left flank, latching onto a through ball before delivering another inch-perfect cross with his weaker foot—once again finding Ekitike in space to finish.

Tottenham Hotspur fans on Wilson Odobert’s performance vs England U21s

Spurs fans were delighted with what they saw from Odobert against England, and they wasted no time sharing their thoughts on social media.

One fan said: “Spurs need better passers so that Odobert can get the ball 1v1 on the wing.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Another stated: “He will be a great player for us. What people don’t understand is that our squad is young and inexperienced. In a few years’ time, we’ll be dominating. Trust in Ange.”

One more added: “Baller under a real manager in the summer. Once Ange is gone, he will kick on.”

Another fan joked: “Brennan Johnson, count your days, mate. Heheheheh.”

What next for Wilson Odobert at Tottenham?

It’s great to finally see Odobert getting consistent minutes after his long injury layoff. At just 20, he’s clearly got the talent to develop into a key player for Spurs in the near future.

Tottenham’s move for £34m target could rest on Liverpool - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are said to stepping up their interest in signing Lazio’s Gustav Isaksen in a deal worth around £34m, but the move could be heavily dependent on Liverpool’s transfer dealings.

Spurs are expected to be active in the summer transfer window, with reinforcements needed across midfield, attack, and defence.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have already been linked with several attacking options, including Tyler Dibling and Jonathan David, as they look to bolster their options further up the pitch.

With a clear lack of depth in attacking areas, it’s no surprise that Spurs are being linked with another versatile winger.

However, their latest target, Isaksen, could only be attainable if Liverpool facilitate Lazio’s plans in the market.

Tottenham Hotspur keen on Isaksen but need Liverpool to act

According to a report from TVPlay, Tottenham Hotspur ‘really like’ Danish winger Gustav Isaksen and could make a move for him worth more than €40m (£33.4m).

However, while a deal is not out of the question, it appears to be directly tied to Lazio’s ability to secure a replacement. This is where Liverpool enter the picture.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Serie A club have been linked with a move for struggling Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa, who is expected to be available for transfer this summer for around €15m (£12.5m).

If Lazio successfully sign Chiesa, it could pave the way for Isaksen’s departure to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Chiesa’s Liverpool struggles could unlock Spurs’ move

Chiesa has found game time hard to come by at Liverpool, which is understandable given the competition in their attacking ranks.

However, the Italian did provide a reminder of his quality in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, scoring Liverpool’s only goal in their 2-1 defeat.
