Pedro Porro Slammed For 'Bullying' Teammate Who Clapped Fans After Spurs 1-2 Fulham - GiveMeSport
Description

Pedro Porro has angered Tottenham supporters in the wake of their 2-1 defeat to Fulham with his behaviour after the final whistle went. The Spaniard appeared to be furious with teammate Lucas Bergvall, shouting at him once the game had concluded.

Everything went wrong for Spurs within the opening six minutes of the game. Kenny Tete's deflected strike gave the visitors the lead inside four minutes, before Harry Wilson capitalised on a calamitous mistake from goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario just 120 seconds later.

Thomas Frank's side got one back in the second half through Mohammed Kudus, but could not find an equaliser before referee Stuart Attwell ended the tie. The result was Spurs' fourth Premier League defeat in six games, which leaves them 10th in the table.

Porro Shouts at Teammate Bergvall After Tottenham 1-2 Fulham

Home supporters booed the team after the final whistle, but that anger had spread to some of the players too. Footage from inside the stadium appeared to show Porro shouting at Bergvall, who was making his way round the ground to applaud the attending fans.

The full-back was seemingly ready to walk off the pitch and down the tunnel. But his teammate believed that the players should show their appreciation to those who were still in attendance. The Spaniard hovered around the centre-circle, shouting Bergvall's name, before he started to walk towards the Sweden international, only to be gently pushed back by Pape Matar Sarr.

Watch the Incident Between Porro and Bergvall Below:

Porro didn't clap the fans as he then trudged off the turf, heading straight down the tunnel. It comes just weeks after Micky Van de Ven and Djed Spence snubbed manager Thomas Frank and stormed down the tunnel after their loss against Chelsea.

The Tottenham boss, who had already criticised a select few supporters for booing goalkeeper Vicario after his mistake against Fulham, was then asked about the incident between Bergvall and Porro after the game ended. The Danish head coach said that he did not see the latter's reaction, but went on to say that his squad needed to be calm in the face of adversity.

"We are in a tough spell right now and for my players it is about being as calm as possible and doing everything we can to work through it."

Fans Slam Porro for Bergvall Clash

Frank might not have spotted the incident, but it has since gone viral on social media, with plenty of Spurs supporters reacting to the footage. Unsurprisingly, many have come out in support of Bergvall, with one condemning Porro of "bullying" his teammate.

"He’s always bullying Bergvall."

A fellow fan shared similar thoughts, writing: "If this is true this is actually unacceptable." Meanwhile, another believes that the club are better off without Porro. They said: "If true, sell him. He’s overrated anyway & thinks he’s elite when he’s bang average. Can’t defend & can’t cross or assist. If true, clearly has an attitude problem."

Others, however, believe that it's more evidence that Frank has lost the dressing room, especially with the incident occurring so shortly after Van de Ven and Spence's reactions. One wrote: "Frank is making the dressing room implode on each other, nice." And that was echoed by a final supporter, who said: "Gosh that dressing room is TENSE."

Newcastle Trip Next for Spurs

Things do not get any easier for Tottenham and Frank either, with midweek Premier League fixtures returning as clubs head into a busy Christmas period during December. They have just a three-day break before returning to action, as they head up to St James' Park for a match against Newcastle.

Eddie Howe's side are flying high after a resounding 4-1 win on the road against Everton. They are currently level with Spurs on 18 points, with Tuesday's match a big opportunity to leapfrog them into the top half of the table.

Jamie O’Hara: 3 Reasons Thomas Frank is Failing at Tottenham

Jamie O'Hara: 3 Reasons Thomas Frank is Failing at Tottenham After Fulham Loss - GiveMeSport
Description

Jamie O'Hara thinks there are three glaring issues at Tottenham Hotspur following a 2-1 home defeat to Fulham, which has piled more pressure on Thomas Frank.

Spurs were their own worst enemies on the night when poor defending allowed the visitors to take the lead through Kenny Tete in the fourth minute. It was a horror show that went from bad to worse two minutes later when Harry Wilson pounced on a Guglielmo Vicario howler.

Frank looked perplexed on the touchline and heading into half-time with his side second best in front of their own fans, who booed Vicario every time he touched the ball after his mistake. There were signs of life when Mohammed Kudus struck in the 59th minute, but the Lilywhites were handed their fourth home defeat of the campaign.

Tottenham 1-2 Fulham: O'Hara on Spurs' Three 'Big Problems'

O'Hara is starting to believe Frank is out of his depth, and the former Spurs midfielder delved into other problem areas for the club. He wrote on X:

"I’m starting to think the job is too big for Thomas Frank, but our recruitment has been so bad, these players just ain’t good enough, most of them are way off it, big problems."

Spurs headed into the season having won the UEFA Europa League under Frank's predecessor, Ange Postecoglou. The Australian coach was dismissed after his team finished 17th in the Premier League, with the European triumph not enough to save him.

Frank was expected to build an exciting counter-attacking team after replacing Postecoglou and try to replicate the work achieved during his time at Brentford. But a worrying start to his reign has many questioning if he's the right man for the job.

Spurs' Crisis Time - Who's To Blame?

Frank earned major plaudits while at Brentford, guiding them to the Premier League and establishing the Bees as a solid mid-table club. He was in demand when Spurs came calling after a 10th-place finish with a team that had just lost top scorer Ivan Toney.

The Lilywhites have undergone a rebuild with Frank at the helm, spending over £150m on new signings, including Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. The Dutch attacker was highly sought-after, but the North Londoners won the race to sign the 22-year-old in a £55m deal.

Simons, whom O'Hara previously criticised, has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League, as has Randal Kolo Muani, who arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. Mohammed Kudus also joined from West Ham United, and the Ghanaian attacker has made an impact, which points out errors in transfer planning, as sticking with players with English football experience should have been a priority.

The attacking trio joined a Spurs side in dire need of a refresh, with question marks over the squad at Postecoglou's disposal last season. While the Europa League was one of the club's best moments, it papered over the cracks, with a group of players unable to compete with the elite.

2 Fulham: Thomas Frank Slams Fans For Booing Guglielmo Vicario

Thomas Frank Slams Tottenham Fans’ ‘Unacceptable’ Actions During Loss vs Fulham - GiveMeSport
Description

Thomas Frank has slammed fans who booed Guglielmo Vicario after the Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper's blunder in a 2-1 home defeat to Fulham on Saturday. The Italian shot-stopper was caught in no man's land when he went to clear the ball and ended up gifting the visitors a second goal.

Vicario raced out of his goal to deal with a loose ball, but he took too long on the ball before mistakenly sending it straight to the Cottagers, and Harry Wilson found the back of the net from long range. The 29-year-old was left with egg on his face, and the home supporters weren't impressed.

Spurs fans were heard booing every time Vicario touched the ball or was in possession, and he wasn't the only one to incur the wrath of the North Londoners' fanbase. Pedro Porro was involved in a feisty exchange at full-time, but Frank focused on defending his goalkeeper.

Tottenham 1-2 Fulham: Frank Calls Out Vicario Boo Boys

Vicario has been Spurs' number one since arriving from Empoli in the summer of 2023, and he was making his 93rd appearance for the club tonight. But he endured a night to forget, as did Frank, who is already feeling the heat just 13 games into his reign in North London.

Frank came out fighting in his post-match interview with Sky Sports, launching a staunch defence of Vicario and hitting out at those who booed the Italian. He told Sky Sports:

"I didn't like that our fans booed at him [Vicario] straight after, and a few times he touched the ball. They can't be true Tottenham fans because everyone supports each other when you are on the pitch. And we do everything we can to perform. After, fair enough, boo, no problem. But not during. That's unacceptable in my opinion."

Spurs fans online hit back at Frank with one writing:

"Spurs fans pay a lot of money to attend games. How dare Thomas Frank say that any spurs fan who booed Vicario or booed during the game isn’t a true Tottenham fan. Sack this coach. He’s a disgrace. Any fan who pays money every week to come watch this rubbish can boo who they like."

Another added:

"Thomas Frank having a go at the fans… you couldn’t write it — treating us like school kids. “One incident I hope it doesn’t happen again” You are not fit to wear the badge, neither is Vicario."

One replied:

"Thomas Frank having a dig at the people who pay his wages......won't be there much longer. See ya."

Vicario looked nervous as the game progressed, but he wasn't the only Spurs man to disappoint on the night. There were several occasions when Fulham eased their way through Frank's defence, and Micky van de Ven spared their blushes with two crucial tackles.

The defeat means the Lilywhites are 10th after 13 games and have won just one home game. They have lost three on the bounce against London rivals following disastrous defeats to Chelsea (1-0) and Arsenal (4-1).

"I'm a Big Man" - Vicario on Boos

Vicario also took an interview and was asked about the booing, to which he responded by acknowledging the difficult period his team are experiencing:

"Look it's part of football, so now I'm a big man, I'm quite honest, so what can I say. Sometimes they have the right to do what they think. We had to try and focus on ourselves... Today, of course, it's a bad defeat."

Michael Dawson, who spent years representing Spurs in the Premier League, questioned fans booing their own player with so long left on the clock. He said, "He still has another 85 minutes to play. It's negativity."

Vicario will hope to still have Frank's faith and put tonight behind him when his side travel to St James' Park to face Newcastle United on Tuesday (December 2). His manager needs a positive result and performance amid a disappointing start, with toxicity taking hold.

Tottenham 1-2 Fulham: Premier League Player Ratings and Match Highlights - GiveMeSport
Description

Fulham defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The match got off to an absolute nightmare start for Spurs, as they found themselves two goals down after just six minutes played, and both goals were incredibly poor to concede. Fulham's first goal wasn't actually that bad from a Spurs perspective, as Kenny Tete's strike from just outside the box took a huge deflection off Destiny Udogie and beat Guglielmo Vicario. But the second goal was dreadful and made Spurs fans furious.

Vicario came running out of his goal to attempt to claim and clear the ball on the right wing, but his clearance was poor and was instead more of a pass right to the feet of Joshua King. The 18-year-old quickly gave the ball to Harry Wilson, who realised Vicario was out of his goal and curled the ball beautifully into the back of the net from range to double his side's lead. Spurs' start almost went from bad to even worse in the 11th minute, as Samuel Chukwueze hit the post.

Spurs almost found themselves 3-0 down in the 38th minute, as Chukwueze rounded Vicario and looked destined to score, but out of nowhere, Micky van de Ven got back to tackle the Nigerian and save his side from going three goals down.

Despite going two goals down early on, going forward, Spurs hardly threatened and went into the half-time break 2-0 down.

The hosts came out of the blocks flying in the second half, and got a goal back in the 59th minute thanks to a fantastic strike from Mohammed Kudus. The Ghanaian was fed the ball and brought it down before unleashing a powerful half volley past Bernd Leno to spark hopes of a comeback for Spurs.

Spurs continued to push on after Kudus' goal, but they lacked creativity in the final third, which made them quite easy to defend against at times.

Fulham successfully saw the match out to take all three points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Match Highlights

Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings

GK: Guglielmo Vicario - 4/10

A nightmare performance from the Italian. Not only was Vicario at fault for Fulham's second goal, where he rushed out of his goal and gave the ball away, but he looked erratic on the ball all evening, and that seemed to have a negative effect on the defenders in front of him as well.

RB: Pedro Porro - 7.5/10

The Spaniard was often Spurs' best attacking outlet. Porro put plenty of really good crosses into the box, but they just weren't met by the Spurs forward line.

CB: Kevin Danso - 7/10

Had a really erratic start to the match, but managed to redeem himself with a decent performance. Danso was decent with the ball at his feet and dealt with Jimenez well.

CB: Micky van de Ven - 7.5/10

Produced a vital tackle in the first half to deny Fulham an almost certain goal after Chukwueze rounded Vicario. Like his centre-back partner, Danso, van de Ven had an erratic start, but redeemed himself by being defensively sound and threatening from set pieces.

LB: Destiny Udogie - 6/10

Was unfortunate to see his deflection from Tete's early shot guide the ball into his own net. Udogie didn't have the best performance, as he wasn't great either offensively or defensively.

CM: Joao Palhinha - 5.5/10

Spurs going 2-0 down early in the match meant he couldn't really play the game how he normally does. The big midfielder is typically a physical presence and a hard worker, but he had more to do with the ball in this match, and he didn't do that well with it.

CM: Archie Gray - 6/10

Like his midfield partner, Palhinha, Gray also didn't really do much with the ball at his feet, although Spurs were chasing the game for pretty much its entirety.

CM: Lucas Bergvall - 8/10

Arguably Spurs' best player. The youngster provided an assist for Kudus' goal and had a really effective, energetic presence in the match. Despite putting in a good performance, Bergvall was taken off even though his side was chasing the game.

RW: Mohammed Kudus - 7.5/10

Took his goal well and was a decent creative threat going forward. Although Kudus was quite one-dimensional at times, as his main plan going forward was to cross the ball, it was quite effective.

ST: Randal Kolo Muani - 5.5/10

Worked very hard and stretched the Fulham back line at times, but at times looked like he didn't know what to do in front of goal.

LW: Richarlison - 5.5/10

Worked hard and put himself about, but just couldn't make anything happen in the final third.

SUB: Xavi Simons - 6/10

Played with energy and tried to make things happen, but lacked composure and quality in front of goal.

SUB: Rodrigo Bentancur - 5.5/10

Although Bentancur didn't really do anything wrong after coming on, he just wasn't proactive enough on the ball, although his side were chasing the game.

SUB: Wilson Odobert - N/A

Didn't do much after coming on.

SUB: Pape Sarr - N/A

Didn't do much after coming on.

SUB: Mathys Tel - N/A

Didn't do much after coming on.

Fulham Player Ratings

GK: Bernd Leno - 6.5/10

Arguably could've done better to stop Kudus' strike, but the German goalkeeper performed well as a whole, especially when dealing with Spurs' crosses.

RB: Kenny Tete - 8/10

Never really put a foot wrong defensively and was a real live wire going forward, especially in the first half. Tete may have been fortunate to score his goal, but his performance deserved it.

CB: Joachim Andersen - 7.5/10

Dealt with the Spurs front line very well and produced many important defensive actions, mainly blocks and clearances.

CB: Calvin Bassey - 7.5/10

Like his centre-back partner, Andersen, Bassey also managed to keep Spurs' front line quiet. The Nigerian had a really good battle going throughout the match with Kolo Muani, which he absolutely won.

LB: Ryan Sessegnon - 7.5/10

Did very well against the tough test of Kudus, especially in one-on-one defensive situations. Sessegnon also carried a threat offensively, as he regularly broke forward down the left wing and made himself a threat.

CM: Sander Berge - 7/10

Didn't have much to do with the ball at his feet, but worked incredibly hard and pressed well in the midfield.

CM: Alex Iwobi - 7/10

Didn't really have much involvement in the match, but played with plenty of energy and intensity, which caused the Spurs players some problems at times.

CM: Joshua King - 8/10

Provided a simple but effective assist for Wilson's goal, which put Fulham 2-0 up after just six minutes. The youngster had plenty of tidy moments in possession and was a real threat on the counter, especially in the first half.

RW: Harry Wilson - 8/10

Although people will watch Wilson's goal and say it was an open net he scored in, the finish was incredibly difficult, and he showed great composure to guide it into the back of the net. The Welshman, although he didn't see much of the ball as a whole, had several bright moments during the match.

ST: Raul Jimenez - 6.5/10

Had a few moments throughout the match where he got the ball down and managed to bring others into play, but outside of that, Jimenez was dealt with quite easily by the Spurs centre-backs.

LW: Samuel Chukwueze - 8/10 (Man of the Match)

SUB: Emile Smith Rowe - 6.5/10

Tidy in possession and worked hard after being introduced.

SUB: Sasa Lukic - 6.5/10

Slotted into the midfield well after coming on, and worked incredibly hard and pressed well.

SUB: Kevin - N/A

Didn't do much after coming on.

SUB: Timothy Castagne - N/A

Didn't do much after coming on.

Dominic Solanke Tottenham Future Surely in Doubt Amid Thomas Frank Decision

£60m Tottenham Star's Future Surely in Doubt After What Thomas Frank Said This Week - GiveMeSport
Description

Things at Tottenham Hotspur started brightly for new manager Thomas Frank after he took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

The Dane had a strong summer window with all of Kota Takai, Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha, Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani joining the squad, and the team turning in some strong performances to start the Premier League campaign.

But in recent weeks, the tide has begun to turn and those results and performances have turned negative, which has seen fans begin to question if the right man is in the dugout.

However, after a toothless performance in the north London derby against Arsenal in a 4-1 defeat on Sunday, Spurs showed some big fight as they took on the Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain in France on Wednesday night, despite falling to a 5-3 defeat.

Thomas Frank Finding His Tottenham Favourites

The opening months of the season so far for Frank have been littered by injuries to several key first-team stars.

James Maddison ruptured an ACL during pre-season, Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin and Yves Bissouma are yet to feature under the manager, and Dominic Solanke has managed to complete just 80 minutes across three appearances.

That has seen the manager develop relationships with certain players more than others, and that could make things very difficult going forward for the players who haven't had an opportunity to shine.

The most obvious example of this is Solanke, who is now 28 years old and struggling to find fitness just a year after making a £60m move to take a step up in his career. The campaign started with Richarlison as the starting number nine, and the Brazilian was in good form, before going on a goalless run and struggling to link the attack.

Summer signing Kolo Muani also had his own injury issues to begin with, but the France international is fit again and is finally beginning to find some form - netting twice against his parent club in the aforementioned defeat to PSG. Richarlison has also now scored in each of his last three games, against Man Utd, Arsenal and PSG, which brings him back into contention too.

Solanke is expected to be fit again soon, but how can he expect to get back into the team when Frank is beginning to trust the other strikers in the squad, and they are scoring goals?

Solanke's Tottenham Future in Question?

With Solanke struggling for minutes and way down the pecking order in north London, questions must be asked about his future - at least in the short term.

The former Bournemouth man will undoubtedly be hoping to get into Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the World Cup, but he is already playing catch up behind the likes of Ollie Watkins and even Danny Welbeck at this stage. Without regular football, he will have absolutely no chance, and it may well be his last chance to ever feature at a World Cup.

If Frank is to continue playing with Richarlison and Kolo Muani in tandem or individually, then Solanke may have to consider a move away in January to get back on track, and Spurs may well be open to it if results turn around without him being involved.

PSG 5-3 Tottenham Player Ratings and Match Highlights for Champions League Clash - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham were undone by Paris Saint-Germain in an eight-goal thriller in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but there were plenty of reasons for positivity for Thomas Frank's side on a crazy night of action in the French capital.

The visitors took a deserved lead, despite having much less possession in the Parc des Princes - as you would expect - through Richarlison. But all the hard work was done by Lucas Bergvall, who ran into the channel, held the ball up and back-heeled for Archie Gray, whose cross stood up to the back post was headed back across goal by Randal Kolo Muani for the Brazilian to head home.

Just when Spurs thought they had kept the Champions League winners at arm's length, they lost concentration from a corner and Vitinha smashed a superb effort home from 25 yards, in off the underside of the crossbar.

Spurs retook the lead in the second half - Kolo Muani volleying an instinctive finish home for his first goal for the club against his parent club after Gray's flicked effort was cleared off the line. But Vitinha was at it again, curling home a second equaliser moments later, before Spurs gifted PSG the lead for the first time in the match on the hour mark - Fabian Ruiz slotting past Guglielmo Vicario.

Poor defending from a corner allowed William Pacho to score PSG's fourth, but Kolo Muani pulled Spurs right back in it with a strike after Vitinha had given the ball away.

Just when Spurs thought they could get back into it, having thrown the lead away, Cristian Romero handballed in the box when sliding out to make a challenge and Vitinha notched his hat-trick from the spot. A crazy night was not done there, with Lucas Hernandez sent off for elbowing Xavi Simons inexplicably in injury-time.

Here's how GIVEMESPORT rated the Tottenham players.

Match Highlights

Tottenham Player Ratings

Guglielmo Vicario - 6

Could do nothing with either Vitinha strike, nor the penalty. Wasn't really helped by his defence for the second with so many players around the Portuguese player but doing little to stop him. Then was left exposed for the third. Let four in, but doesn't come out with any real negatives as he made a couple of good saves.

Pedro Porro - 6

Looked a threat going forward and was not massively troubled in a defensive sense as he dealt with Kvicha Kvaratskhelia reasonably well when the Georgian switched to his side in the second half.

Cristian Romero - 4

Marshalled his defence well until an inexplicable ball into Sarr that led to Fabian Ruiz making it 3-2. Things went wrong thereafter. Gave the ball away when looking to get Spurs on the attack, giving PSG a threatening attack which luckily for him went unrewarded, didn't cover himself with glory at the corner from which PSG scored the fourth and then gave away a penalty with a handball when sliding out to hand PSG their fifth.

Micky van de Ven - 5

At the heart of a defence that conceded five goals, so you can't say he had a great game. Was not really at fault for any of the goals, although did give the ball away poorly a couple of times.

Djed Spence - 6

Could he have done more for Vitinha's second goal? Tried to get a foot in, but it was a bit of a nothing attempt and just allowed the Portuguese man to get a bit of space and curl an effort home. From an attacking point of view, was as good as he often is down the left hand side.

Archie Gray - 7

Got the pre-assist for Richarlison's goal and then saw his flicked effort headed out as far as Kolo Muani for the second goal. Enjoyed a really strong first half in the midfield but tired and got overrun in the second half as PSG got on the front foot and powered away from Spurs.

Lucas Bergvall - 7

A breath of fresh air in the midfield, particularly in the first half. Made such a bright start, but showed his rustiness with some questionable touches. He was always looking for the ball though and a willing runner from deep, starting the move that led to the opening goal for Spurs. Faded in the second half as PSG got on top and was brought off.

Pape Matar Sarr - 4

Went a bit under the radar because of the displays from Bergvall and Gray and went about his business without showing a great deal until he was exposed twice, losing the ball, having not been put into a good position by his captain to allow Ruiz to score the fourth and then failing to clear the ball in his own box allowing William Pacho to pounce and score PSG's third. Did get himself out of trouble brilliantly late on and got Spurs on the attack though.

Rodrigo Bentancur - 6

The one who kept his place in the midfield from the weekend and was outshone by his two younger teammates on the night. Needed his experienced head to get around the younger players and ensure Spurs remained solid when PSG got on top, but didn't quite manage to do it and seemed to move out of the way of Vitinha's second goal.

Richarlison - 7

Opened the scoring with a simple header from close range. Looked much happier with Kolo Muani up alongside him in a two up top and put himself about a bit too.

Randal Kolo Muani - 9

Improved Tottenham's attack immensely by holding the ball up well and running into the channels. Looks to have finally found his groove and scored his first Spurs goal - against his former club - with an instinctive first-time finish after the ball was cleared out to him off the line from Gray's flicked shot. Pounced on a poor Vitinha moment to score his second and Spurs' third too. he was a real bright spark. Probably SPurs' best player across the 90 minutes.

Substitutes

Joao Palhinha - 5

Gave the ball away in a dangerous area, but was not really on the pitch long enough to have more of an impact than that.

Mohammed Kudus - 5

Looked a threat on the attack, but again didn't have much of the ball to really make an impact.

Wilson Odobert - 5

Had one shot wide when he should have played the ball across the box instead.

Xavi Simons - 5

Elbowed in the face in injury-time, seeing Lucas Hernandez sent off.

Destiny Udogie - 5

Not a great deal of time to do anything of note.

Tottenham duo Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall prove a point to Thomas Frank

Spurs duo send pointed message to Thomas frank with Champions League display - GiveMeSport
Description

Things simply had to get better for Tottenham Hotspur.

All the supporters wanted to see after a dismal display in the first North London Derby of the season on Sunday, was a better performance, with more fight and more attacking intent at the home of the Champions League champions Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.

It was clear it was going to be a tough test, away in the Parc des Princes, against Luis Enrique's side who had only lost twice this season so far - once in Ligue Un and once in the Champions League.

But Spurs acquitted themselves well in a cauldron of noise in the French capital, with head coach Thomas Frank showing he had learnt from the weekend's display by opting for a more attacking lineup.

Five changes

Destiny Udogie, Kevin Danso, Joao Palhinha, Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert all dropped out of the starting XI, having disappointed at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, with Pedro Porro, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Pape Matar Sarr and Randal Kolo Muani all coming in.

And the freshness had an immediate impact.

Spurs were much the better side in the opening exchanges and got at the French champions at will in the first 10 or so minutes, opening them up, but just failing to get the all-important early goal.

Even when PSG did find their footing and start to take the game by the scruff of the neck, Tottenham kept them at arm's length until a superb strike from Vitinha from the edge of the box on the stroke of half-time.

That goal was an equaliser, however, with Spurs having taken the lead in the Parc des Princes through Richarlison's close range header. That lead was no less than the visitors deserved.

Teen dream

At the heart of that goal - and Spurs' best play - though were two teenagers.

Gray and Bergvall were brought into the starting lineup and were excellent throughout an effervescnet opening 45 minutes.

Kolo Muani will be the man to have the assist by his name for Richarlison's goal, but the good work was actually done by the two teenagers.

Bergvall ran into the left-hand channel, drawing out his man before finding Gray on the underlap with a nice backheel pass. Gray then got to the byline and stood a ball up to the back post for Kolo Muani to head back across goal for Richarlison to head home.

The Swede was everywhere in the opening 15 minutes, doing the one thing that was missing from Sunday's performance in the North London Derby - wanting the ball.

Gray was not far behind him in the impressive stakes, showing a calmness on the ball, doing the dirty work when required in the middle of the park and getting forward to help his fellow youngster too.

Lacking minutes

It begs the question of why they have been so sparingly used so far this season, with Frank opting regularly for a midfield duo of Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Bergvall has managed just 414 minutes on the pitch in nine appearances in the Premier League - which averages out at 46 minutes per match. He has missed three of the games completely.

Gray has just 72 Premier League minutes to his name so far this season, from just two matches.

The teenagers have a lot still to learn of course, but they are the future of Tottenham's midfield and they made their point quite clearly in that 45 minutes in the French capital.

WSL Apologises to Tottenham After 'Crude and Unprofessional' Women’s League Cup Draw - GiveMeSport
Description

One club has asked WSL Football have to provide footage of Tuesday's Women's League Cup quarter-final and semi-final draw after the process – conducted by TikTok influencer GK Barry and her girlfriend, Portsmouth midfielder Ella Rutherford – has been labelled 'crude and unprofessional' by a number of Women's Super League clubs.

Streamed live on TikTok, Barry was tasked with the job of drawing the balls and Rutherford, whose Portsmouth side had not progressed to this stage, then told viewers which side had been pulled out. But it quickly descended into chaos and, reportedly, there are many unhappy clubs.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Last year’s Women's Super League Cup final was watched by 14,187 supporters at Pride Park, the home ground of Derby County.

Specifically, Tottenham Hotspur have been offered an apology and accepted that Barry's comments regarding Spurs were inappropriate. While pulling out a ball with the club's name on it, GK Barry asked: "What do we think of Tottenham?" – referring to an anti-Spurs chant sometimes sung by fans of Arsenal.

WSL Clubs 'Furious' Over Lack of Professionalism During League Cup Draw

In what was an attempt to appeal to a younger audience, it quickly backfired as it became clear Barry was not up to the job. The influencer kickstarted the draw by making a comment about "lesbians handling balls" before she smacked the bag holding the draw balls against her backside, adding: “Give it a shake, a spank for luck.”

She also finished with an innuendo about Subway's footlong sandwiches. "Even if you're a lesbian, get a footlong." she said.

With an adjudicator present, the former I'm A Celebrity contestant also pulled a ball, which revealed one of the home sides in the first semi-final fixture, out of the bag before mistakenly putting it back in. “Am I allowed to do that? I’ve done it now, it’s too late," she commented, only to pull it out again and say: "Oh I picked up the same ball.”

According to The Telegraph, it has been confirmed that it was the same ball that was pulled out by Barry. In the event that it was a different ball, the entire draw would have been redone.

BBC Sport have also confirmed that one of the clubs involved in the draw has requested to view the footage after being displeased with the process as, at the time of writing, it is not currently available to watch back on social media or WSL Football's YouTube channel.

Fans Displeased with Women's League Cup Draw Process

Fans, expectedly, have deemed the process 'an insult' to women's football, with some even claiming that it's practically unbelievable. "An insult to female footballers of all ages and their clubs," one said, as another added: "This is diabolical. I can’t believe this is even real."

"Genuinely p***** me off. Disrespectful and derogatory to a club with 40+ years of history in the women’s game. Not to mention unprofessional," a third supporter added.

"I don’t think any post of this paints the WSL in a positive light. Appears biased, unprofessional, looking in the bag – and why do the draw in Subway?"

"After seeing this, I think the WSL have to do this draw again. She’s clearly looking in the bag and as for the bag slap and comments it’s just cringe," a fifth fan added, before a final supporter concluded: "Wow.... I heard it was bad but this is so much worse than I imagined."

Details of the Draw

The draw saw reigning champions Chelsea, now managed by Sonia Bompastor, issued a trip to Liverpool while last season’s runners-up Manchester City will travel to the English capital to face West Ham United. The final WSL 2 side in the competition, Crystal Palace, will play host to Arsenal.

Marc Skinner's Manchester United will play at home against Tottenham – and the winners of that quarter-final will lock horns with one of Palace or Arsenal.

Elsewhere, which team reigns supreme in the quarter-final between Liverpool and Chelsea will play the winners of West Ham v City. In terms of when supporters will be able to watch their respective teams in action, the quarter-final matches will be played over the weekend of December 19–21, while the semi-finals will be played on January 21–22.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are facing another huge challenge as they prepare to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Spurs have made an excellent start to their European campaign with two wins and two draws to their name so far, most recently beating Copenhagen 4-0 on home turf earlier in November.

Since then things haven't gone well for Thomas Frank's side who secured a 2-2 draw with Manchester United, before being hammered 4-1 by fierce rivals Arsenal in the North London Derby on Sunday.

A trip to Paris is the perfect opportunity to bounce back, but make no mistake, they face a fierce test.

Paris Saint-Germain Team News

Luis Enrique will be without Achraf Hakimi for the visit of Tottenham. The Moroccan right-back suffered a nasty injury following a crunching tackle from Bayern Munich's former Liverpool star Luis Diaz in their last Champions League encounter. As a result, he's expected to be ruled out for a number of weeks.

PSG are also currently without Desire Doue (hamstring) and Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele (calf) for the contest.

Despite the bad news, les Parisiens will welcome Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to the fold after both were restricted to appearances off the bench at the weekend.

Paris Saint-Germain Predicted XI

PSG predicted XI: Chevalier; Zaire-Emery, Zabarnyi, Pacho, Mendes; Ruiz, Vitinha, Neves; Lee, Barcola, Kvaratskhelia

PSG predicted subs: Kang-in, Mbaye, Hernandez, Ndjantou, Marquinhoes, Safanov, Boly

Enrique is likely to reintroduce both Barcola and Kvaratskhelia into the starting line-up. Warren Zaire-Emery is set to deputise for Hakimi at right-back while Fabian Ruiz will also start.

Tottenham Team News

Tottenham will be without Brennan Johnson for the trip to Paris as he serves a suspension. The forward was sent off during the 4-0 win over Copenhagen in the last round of games and will therefore sit this one out.

Spurs are also without a number of first team stars. James Maddison (ACL), Radu Dragusin (ACL), Kota Takai (thigh), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), Dominic Solanke (ankle), Yves Bissouma (ankle) and Mathys Tel (ineligible) are all set to miss out. Ben Davies could return.

Tottenham Predicted XI

Tottenham Predicted XI: Vicario; Porro, Danso, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Palhinha, Bergvall; Kudus, Kolo Muani, Richarlison.

Tottenham Predicted Subs: Simons, Sarr, Odobert, Tel, Gray, Spence, Kinsky

Frank is set to shuffle the pack following Sunday's horror show against Arsenal. Pedro Porro could return to the starting line-up, as could Lucas Bergvall. Kolo Muani is also a contender to return to the team. Wilson Odobert and Djed Spence are likely to be among those who drop to the bench.

Frank can make five attacking changes to Spurs team vs PSG

Five big changes Frank can make to Spurs team for PSG clash - GiveMeSport
Description

Things do not get any easier for Tottenham Hotspur following their humbling defeat to Arsenal in the North London Derby on Sunday.

Spurs are back in Champions League action this Wednesday and face probably the toughest test of all - a trip to the Parc des Princes to face reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The two teams have actually already met this season - in the curtain-raiser for the 2025/26 campaign, the UEFA Super Cup.

And Spurs almost came out on top, impressing against PSG before the Champions League winners scored two late goals to draw the match 2-2 and then win the game on penalties against the Europa League champions.

Now, however, PSG are well and truly in their stride, with three wins from their four Champions League games so far, the defeat coming last time out against Bayern Munich who top the league phase table at the halfway stage.

Tottenham are unbeaten in the league phase so far, with two wins and two draws, but this will be by far their toughest test yet. And given what happened at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, Thomas Frank has some work to do to win back some of the supporters in N17.

There are plenty of murmurings of discontent, not just at the performance against the Gunners, but at the season overall so far.

Frank set Spurs up in a very defensive formation at the Emirates Stadium, with three centre-backs in Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso flanked by wing-backs Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie. With Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur ahead of them, it was almost a back seven in front of Guglielmo Vicario, with Mohammed Kudus, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison the forward trio.

Frank has improved Tottenham defensively, but the attack has left a lot to be desired. The likelihood is, that against the Champions League holders, another defensive performance is on the cards on Wednesday night.

But how could he change it up and overhaul the starting XI to be more attack-minded?

Back four

After the debacle across north London, reverting to a back four is the easiest thing to do to start to win back the supporters.

Danso is likely to be the player to miss out, but Frank can also make one other change here, by bringing Pedro Porro back into the starting lineup at the expense of Spence. If Porro can get forward his delivery into the box can be extremely dangerous and a real threat to PSG.

Van de Ven and Romero should remain as the central duo, with Udogie still at left-back.

Midfield dynamism

Frank's midfield selection choices have come in for plenty of criticism from Spurs fans on a number of occasions this season already.

Palhinha and Bentancur have often been chosen to partner one another in the middle of the park as a double pivot, which does restrict Spurs' attacking abilities somewhat.

To really rip up his style guide and offer up a more dynamic midfield, Frank has teenagers Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall waiting in the wings. Gray could slot into the No.6 role, with Bergvall taking on the No.8 position, although they are both versatile enough to play either position.

there was a real lack of fight and ambition from the Spurs players on Sunday, both Bergvall and Gray would show those two things in spades.

Joining them in the midfield three should be Xavi Simons, who had to wait until half-time to come on against Arsenal and looked positive from the off, which would mean a completely different midfield from that seen on Sunday.

Up top

Then we get to the forward three. Odobert and Kudus had little chance to shine on Sunday, but there are not massive changes that can be made here.

Mathys Tel is not registered for this stage of the Champions League, while Brennan Johnson's red card against Copenhagen rules him out of this tie.

Coming up against his old club, Randal Kolo Muani is surely going to start through the middle and it could be a good idea to move Richarlison out to the left, where he operates a bit more effectively rather than as the focal point of the attack.

Kudus keeps his place on the right, with no one else to come in.

The changes

That would mean five changes from the team that started at the Emirates Stadium, with Spence, Danso, Palhinha, Bentancur and Odobert all dropping out of the lineup.

It would certainly be a more attacking lineup, which may or may not be the best idea against PSG, but would at least show the supporters there is an ambition from Frank to attack, having already focused on the defensive side of things.
