A young Tottenham midfielder is attracting interest from a whole host of clubs, and Spurs will soon decide on the youngster’s future.

Tottenham have already allowed several of their young starlets to leave on loan this summer, with Ashley Phillips rejoining Stoke City on loan, while highly-rated attacker Mikey Moore has completed a temporary move to Rangers.

According to some sources, midfielder Jamie Donley may be the next player to head out on loan to the Championship after impressing in League One for Leyton Orient last season.

It has now been claimed that another academy midfielder is attracting plenty of interest across the EFL.

Tottenham will soon make a decision on Tyrese Hall

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, the teenager may soon get his first taste of senior football as a whole host of clubs across different tiers of the EFL are now keen to land him on loan.

Description

Erik Lamela may have left Tottenham years ago, but the Argentine winger has now reminded fans exactly where his heart still lies.

Of course, the north London derby is one of the biggest games of the season for both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, as it sees two fierce rivals locking horns and battling it out for the bragging rights over north London.

In the past few years, some great goals have been scored. Harry Kane’s curler of a strike from near the corner flank back in 2016 and Erik Lamela’s rabona goal of the season back in 2021 stand out as some of the most iconic goals in recent years.

Pape Matar Sarr also added to the growing catalogue, with his recent strike in the friendly clash at the Tai Ka Stadium in China, where he scored an outrageous goal from the halfway line.

Erik Lamela sends heartfelt Tottenham message after derby post

In the spirit of the derby match, the official Tottenham Hotspur account took to social media to post Erik Lamela’s iconic rabona derby goal against Arsenal in 2021, which was also nominated for the Puskas award that year.

The Argentine, who still keeps tabs on Tottenham, was quick to leave a heartfelt comment that shows he remains a Spurs fan through and through. Under the post, Lamela simply commented: “Tottenham Hotspur, I miss you”.

The Argentine spent eight seasons at Tottenham, scored 37 goals and registered 46 assists before being moved on to Sevilla.

Spurs nostalgia and the Thomas Frank era

That is the beauty of football. It so often brings people together and allows many to become a part of a new family. Lamela found a home at Tottenham and will always be welcomed back to Hotspur Way.

Spurs will now look to create more derby day memories with new boss Thomas Frank at the helm. The manager has made a perfect start, beating Arsenal 1-0, albeit in a friendly match.

Heung-min Son’s top ten moments at Spurs as we bid farewell to Mr Tottenham

Heung-min Son’s top ten moments at Spurs as we bid farewell to Mr Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Heung-min Son finally released what was a pretty open secret in the early hours of Saturday morning; he will be leaving his beloved Tottenham Hotspur after a decade of service in North London.

Son revealed his exit plans in a Tottenham press conference in South Korea: “I just want to share information that I have decided to leave this club this summer. Respectfully, the club is helping me with this decision.

“It was the most difficult decision I have made in my career. The main reason is that I have achieved everything I can at Tottenham. I need a new environment for a fresh challenge.

“I came to North London as a kid. A boy came to London who couldn’t speak English. I leave this club as a man. Thanks to all the Spurs fans who have given me so much love.”

What better way to celebrate Sonny’s time in the Lilywhite shirt than to look back on his ten greatest moments with Spurs?

Let’s start by casting our minds all the way back to 2015. The day was August 28, and Tottenham had just announced the signing of South Korean forward Heung-min Son from Bayer Leverkusen on a £22 million deal. Sonny made history from his very first day in N17, becoming the most expensive Asian player in football history. Little did Tottenham know, they had also just signed their future captain and one of the greatest modern-day club legends in Spurs history.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Sonny in North London, though. The former Bundesliga goalscorer started just 13 games in his first campaign with Spurs, finding the back of the net on four occasions. In fact, Son admitted in a 2019 interview that he asked Mauricio Pochettino to transfer him back to Germany.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He said: “I came close to leaving. I went to the gaffer’s office and told him I didn’t feel comfortable and wanted to leave for Germany.”

Fortunately, Pochettino convinced him to stay, and Son followed up on his tricky start to Premier League life with 14 goals and seven assists in the 2016/17 season. The rest, as they say, is history.

‘A touch isolated here, Tottenham’s number seven…’

One of Heung-min Son’s most iconic goals came back in a rare 3-1 win over Chelsea in November 2018, with the South Korean star netting his 50th strike for the Lilywhites in supreme fashion. After blistering past Jorginho on the wing, then cutting past David Luiz like he wasn’t there, Sonny danced his way into the Chelsea box and slotted home to send Wembley into pandemonium.

To make matters even sweeter – as if skinning two Chelsea stars who would also go on to play for Arsenal wasn’t enough – Son had just returned from Asian Cup duties where he lifted the trophy to avoid two years of military service. Who knows what would have happened to his Spurs career had he not tasted victory with his country.

On the subject of solo Son goals, we have to mention the Puskas winner from 2020! Heung-min Son picked the ball up on the edge of his own box before motoring the full length of the pitch to score what was deemed the most iconic goal of the year. But what about that Jan Vertonghen assist?!

When Bruno Fernandes scored a second-minute penalty in an empty Old Trafford during lockdown, Tottenham Hotspur fans would have been fearing the worst. Two minutes later, Tanguy Ndombele equalised to a chorus of fake TV cheers. Three minutes more, and Sonny put Spurs ahead.

Talking of that Kane and Son telepathy, Tottenham’s dynamic duo made history in February 2022 when the former set the latter in behind Leeds’ back line to make it 4-0. The goal itself was insignificant to the result, but it marked the 37th time that Kane and Son has assisted each other in the Premier League – a new all-time record for the competition.

The England and South Korea captains went on to increase that total to a whopping 47, with Kane scoring 23 and Son scoring 24. The previous record was held by Chelsea legends Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba at 36 combinations. It seems unlikely that Kane and Son’s record will be broken for a long, long time.

While Heung-min Son has always been deadly in front of goal for Tottenham, he always played second fiddle to Harry Kane when it came to the end-of-season tallies. However, in the 2021/22 Premier League season, Kane netted just 17 times in his 37 appearances, leaving him fourth in the overall standings. Heung-min Son shared the eventual award with Liverpool’s Mo Salah, with both wingers netting 23 times that season. It was a nervy climax to the race though, as Sonny needed a final-day brace against Norwich City to even match the Egyptian king.

After Pep Guardiola referred to Tottenham as ‘the Harry Kane team’ in the build-up to the iconic 2019 Champions League quarter-final between Spurs and Man City, Heung-min Son took offence. The Spaniard’s words came back to haunt him when Sonny scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win at the newly-opened Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Kane himself could only watch on from the stands after leaving the game early due to injury.

Amidst a passionate celebration with his teammates, Son went up to the cameras and screamed down the lens: ‘Do you know who I am?’ in what has become one of his most iconic moments. It’s fair to say that Pep Guardiola never called Tottenham ‘the Harry Kane team’ again.

After 10 years of Heung-min Son at Tottenham, after 17 years of Spurs fans waiting for a trophy, and after 41 years of waiting for more European glory, it finally happened on May 21, 2025, in Bilbao. After Brennan Johnson bundled home the only goal of the game, Spurs engraved their own name on the Europa League trophy for the third time in the club’s history. Heung-min Son did something that no one had done since Ledley King in 2008 – lift a major piece of silverware as captain of Tottenham Hotspur. Players come and go, but legends stay around forever… which brings us onto our final point.

Heung-min Son was famously reluctant to call himself a Tottenham legend in the build-up to the Europa League final. While the South Korean star had gifted so many moments of joy to Spurs fans and scored so many iconic goals, he was well aware of his lack of silverware in a Lilywhite shirt. When asked whether he was now a Tottenham legend after lifting the Europa League, Son paused for a moment and said: “Let’s say I am a legend.” Yes, Sonny… yes, you are.

A legend not only for his achievements at the football club, and a legend not only for lifting the Europa League trophy, but a legend for everything that he stands for. Fiercely loyal, strikingly humble, and a role model for every young footballer in the game. There is a reason you have to search far and wide to find a pro footballer without a heartwarming Sonny story, let alone a bad thing to say about him.

Every legend has a perfect ending, and Son has written his own. Not only does he sign off as a Europa League winner, leaving N17 on a high, but he does so with full respect for his manager, teammates, and fans. That is a rare legacy that cannot be tarnished, and we wish Sonny all the best for the future. He may not have come through the academy, but Heung-min Son is one of our own.

Nice one, Sonny.

What Tottenham expect from Joao Palhinha this season as announcement draws closer - Spurs Web
Description

It is only a matter of time before Joao Palhinha completes a switch to Tottenham Hotspur, and a new report has shed light on why the North London club’s decision-makers are excited about the Bayern Munich man’s arrival.

Palhinha is expected to be Tottenham’s fourth signing of the summer, with the Portuguese international set to join on a loan deal with an option to buy for €30m (£26m).

The 30-year-old returns to London just a year after his high-profile switch from Fulham to Bayern Munich.

Some sources have claimed over the last 24 hours that Thomas Frank is delighted to have Palhinha on board, and a new update has now shed light on what is expected of the experienced midfielder this season.

Tottenham expect big things from Joao Palhinha

It has now been revealed by TBR Football that the Bayern man’s switch to Spurs is expected to be announced in a matter of hours, with the formalities of the deal now done.

The outlet confirms that Yves Bissouma is the one who is expected to make way for the former Fulham man, whose entire salary will be covered by Tottenham.

It is revealed that the expectation at Spurs is that Palhinha will make an instant impact since he arrives with plenty of Premier League experience under his belt.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Even though the midfielder is a loan signing, the outlet asserts that the Lilywhites expect the player to be a regular in the starting lineup and become a key part of Thomas Frank’s set-up.

Frank convinced Palhinha to join Spurs

It was reported previously by some sources that Palhinha would prefer to remain at Allianz Arena and fight for his place.

However, the 30-year-old has now had a change of heart and journalist Greame Bailey has revealed that it is down to his conversation with Frank, who convinced him about the project in N17.

Bailey told TBR Football: “Spurs are really happy to get Palhinha – they loved him at Fulham and to get him now, just 12 months on, is huge for them.

“Palhinha was won over by Thomas Frank as soon as they talked, am told they are delighted to be working together. There are real high hopes that Palhinha comes in and becomes a key cog in Frank’s team – and they think he will.”

Tottenham insider, Paul O’Keefe, has ruled out the possibility of Tottenham pursuing an English midfielder, who has been heavily linked with a move to N17 all summer.

Tottenham have been backed to turn to other options after being snubbed by Gibbs-White, who has signed a new three-year contract at Nottingham Forest.

Spurs fans are understandably getting impatient and want to see new faces arrive through the door, now that we are just over two weeks away from the UEFA Super Cup clash against PSG.

However, a Spurs insider has now ruled out the possibility of Tottenham turning to an Aston Villa star as a potential alternative to Gibbs-White.

Tottenham will not be signing Jacob Ramsey this summer

A recent report in TBR Football revealed that Harvey Elliott, Jacob Ramsey and James McAtee are on Spurs’ radar after Gibbs-White turned down a move to N17.

However, Paul O’Keefe has now revealed on social media that Tottenham Hotspur will not be making a move for Ramsey this summer.

He claimed that the decision makers at the North London club are “decidedly against” signing the Villa star.

Why Brandon Austin deserves his chance to prove himself as Tottenham back-up

Why Brandon Austin deserves his chance to prove himself as Tottenham back-up - Spurs Web
Description

Brandon Austin could soon find himself as Tottenham Hotspur’s second-choice goalkeeper, but does a player with such little experience have what it takes to fulfil the role?

We recently discussed how Antonin Kinsky could benefit from a loan move. However, with Josh Keeley joining Luton Town, such a move would be impractical. Despite this, Lille are looking to sign Kinsky on loan, in a twist which has angered many Tottenham supporters.

This would leave Spurs with two senior goalkeepers, one of whom is Brandon Austin. The Tottenham academy product is 26 years old, but he has only made three competitive appearances for the club.

Adding further doubt to his capabilities, Austin was at fault for the first goal Spurs conceded against Wycombe Wanderers. The ball was fired straight at him, but he failed to make a save, resulting in a major blunder.

Tottenham fans should not be reactionary about Brandon Austin

The general consensus around the Tottenham fanbase appears to be that loaning Kinsky would be an act of madness and that Austin is not ready for first-team football. After last Saturday, it is certainly acceptable to ask questions about Austin’s quality, but writing him off already could be a mistake.

After all, the shot-stopper actually impressed on the few occasions where he played last season. It started with a Man of the Match performance from Austin against Newcastle United. A Europa League fixture against Hoffenheim followed, where Austin conceded twice. However, he was not at fault for either goal and made three saves from shots inside the box.

His most recent competitive appearance was against Elfsborg in January, where he kept his first clean sheet, although he remained untested throughout the match.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Based on these displays, it would be unfair to write Austin off when he has had so few chances. One poor performance does not mean he is incompetent. Guglielmo Vicario has made plenty of errors and still kept his spot in the first-team.

The Tottenham experts have praised Brandon Austin

Brandon Austin was already highly thought of, even before he made his Spurs debut. Dejan Kulusevski gave Austin his vote of confidence, describing him as a ‘very good goalkeeper’.

Ange Postecoglou praised Austin after his Tottenham debut and later that month, the Aussie declared that Austin played really well against Hoffenheim.

Former players had their say on Austin too. Pascal Chimbonda slammed Tottenham for failing to give Austin a fair chance, while questioning the club’s decision to sign Kinsky in the first place.

It is too early to make a judgement call on Austin

It is important to look at the full picture regarding Austin. Yes, he was terrible against Wycombe last Saturday. Yes, his Premier League experience is limited to one appearance. However, recency bias should be avoided. Austin has played well in every game he has played, which actually counted towards something.

This is not to say that he will be successful as a second in command next season. There is every possibility that Austin will continue to make unprofessional errors and leave his manager questioning why he ever offloaded Kinsky. However, there is also a chance he succeeds. Right now, it is simply too early to write off Austin.

Description

Heung-min Son has revealed that he has decided to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 33-year-old was speaking at a press conference in his native South Korea ahead of the pre-season friendly against Newcastle United.

Tottenham decided back in January to trigger a one-year option on Heung-min Son’s existing contract and extend his deal through to 2026 rather than discuss fresh terms.

Son has been holding transfer talks with Los Angeles FC over a move to the Major League Soccer side where he could reunite with former Spurs team-mate Hugo Lloris.

Heung-min Son has requested to leave Tottenham

Son told Football.London: “I just want to share information that I have decided to leave this club this summer. Respectfully the club is helping me with this decision.

Having lifted the Europa League trophy with Tottenham in May following a 1-0 win over Manchester United in Bilbao, Son claimed that he now needs a new challenge.

He added: “It was the most difficult decision I have made in my career. The main reason is I have achieved everything I can at Tottenham. I need a new environment for a fresh challenge.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I came to north London as a kid. A boy came to London who couldn’t speak English. I leave this club as a man. Thanks to all the Spurs fans who have given me so much love.”

Son is a true Tottenham legend

After so many near moments when it came to winning trophies, many players decided to leave Tottenham in seek of silverware, but Son remained loyal to Tottenham and finally got his moment when he lifted the trophy high over his head in Spain.

Son has scored 173 goals from 454 appearances for Tottenham after joining the club for £22million from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

Thomas Frank is expected to hand Cristian Romero the Tottenham captaincy following Son’s decision to leave the club.

Tottenham battle Newcastle for £43m Brighton star, Micky Van de Ven knows him well - Spurs Web
Description

A Brighton star has now made a big decision on his future, thus opening the door for Tottenham to swoop for him over the coming weeks.

Thomas Frank is not short of options at centre-back, particularly given that Cristian Romero now looks set to stay at Tottenham.

However, it has been widely reported over recent weeks that Spurs are still in the market for central defenders, and a great opportunity may have just opened up for the Lilywhites.

It has now emerged that Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attention to a Brighton star, who is thought to be keen to leave the Amex Stadium.

Tottenham circling over Jan Paul van Hecke after contract decision

It has been revealed by Voetbal International that Tottenham have expressed an interest in Micky Van de Ven’s Netherlands international teammate, Jan Paul van Hecke, who has decided against signing a new contract at Brighton.

The Seagulls were ready to make the 25-year-old their highest-paid player, but he has declined their contract offer.

Van Hecke wants to move to a Champions League club this summer, with Newcastle also joining Spurs in the race for the centre-back.

MORE SPURS STORIES

While the defender will not agitate to leave the South Coast, it is revealed that an offer of €50m (£43.2m) will be enough to prise him away after his refusal to sign a contract extension.

Why signing another centre-back may make sense for Spurs

While Romero is expected to stay, there are no indications that the Argentine is expected to sign a new contract.

That is why Frank and Tottenham may want to future-proof themselves by signing a top centre-back this summer, and they could be alive to any market opportunities that open up.

Fabrizio Romano provides Harvey Elliott update amid Tottenham Hotspur transfer links - Spurs Web
Description

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the race for Tottenham target Harvey Elliott is now intensifying as the Liverpool star assesses his options.

It has been widely reported over the last few days that Tottenham have identified Harvey Elliott as a potential alternative for Morgan Gibbs-White after the England international decided to remain at Nottingham Forest.

In fact, TBR Football even claimed earlier this week that Thomas Frank is prepared to give Elliott the number ten role at Spurs after the versatile attacker told suitors that he wants to play centrally.

The update claimed that the Tottenham head coach wants to bring another attacking midfielder through the door due to the injury record of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, with the Dane identifying the Liverpool man as a suitable option.

Tottenham are battling three other clubs for Harvey Elliott

Jamie O’Hara has implored Daniel Levy to complete a deal for Elliott, but according to Fabrizio Romano’s latest update, it will not be an easy deal to get over the line.

The journalist revealed that three or four different clubs have expressed their interest in the 22-year-old without revealing the identity of those clubs.

Romano further added that Elliott has not made up his mind yet, as he is still assessing his options.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about the rumours linking the England Under-21 international with a move to Spurs, he told GiveMeSport: “It’s gonna be one to watch. There’s interest from 3-4 clubs for Elliott, and he’s assessing options. No decision made yet on his Liverpool future, but an interesting one.”

Spurs may have to break the bank to land Elliott

Spurs Web has relayed several reports over recent weeks indicating that the Reds star will cost a premium this summer.

This includes a report from The Athletic a few weeks ago that Liverpool want a fee of £40m plus a buy-back clause for Elliott.

The same update suggested that if Tottenham or one of Elliott’s other suitors insist on not adding a buy-back clause, they would need to pay over £50m to land the Fulham academy graduate.

Rangers manager reveals his plan for ‘excited’ Tottenham starlet Mikey Moore - Spurs Web
Description

Mikey Moore has explained why he chose to join Rangers on loan, while Tottenham fans will also be excited about what the Scottish club’s manager, Russel Martin, has said about the Spurs academy graduate.

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed earlier today that Moore has joined Rangers on a season-long loan deal, with no obligation or option to buy.

Tottenham were initially reluctant to let Moore go, but the winger was keen on getting regular game time, with the North Londoners agreeing that a loan move would be best for the 17-year-old’s long-term development.

Thomas Frank will be hoping that the versatile attacker is ready to compete for a place in his starting lineup when he returns to Hotspur Way next summer.

Mikey Moore confesses his love for Rangers after Tottenham loan

According to reports, Moore rejected advances from several Championship clubs in favour of a move to Rangers.

The teenager has now explained why he chose to join the Gers, revealing that he and his family have always loved the club, while also citing the club’s attacking style of play as a reason.

Moore said on completing a switch to the Glasgow giants (Rangers Official): “I’m excited to get going. As soon as I heard Rangers were interested and wanted me to come, it was a massive opportunity for me. I’m excited to be here, and hopefully I can show the fans and everyone what I can do.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I’ve always loved Rangers as a club. My family have always loved them. I think with the new boss and the way that we play, it’s a great place to be at the minute. It was a pretty easy decision for me to come here.”

Russell Martin expects Moore to have a big impact

Some sources have claimed that it is Russell Martin who convinced Moore that a switch to Glasgow would be the right one for him.

The former Southampton boss has now admitted that the Spurs academy graduate is exactly the kind of player he was looking to sign and believes that the youngster can hit the ground running at Ibrox.

Martin said: “We are thrilled to bring Mikey on loan for this season. His profile as a brave, aggressive attacking player is one that we were keen to add to the squad, and he is certainly a player who, despite his age, can make an impact on the team from day one.

“He is a player with huge potential, and it is testament to his quality that he has been entrusted by Spurs in both the Premier League and UEFA Europa League with such regularity over the last 18 months.”
