Multiple sources: Internally, Spurs want £55M deal wrapped up this week
To say that this window has begun to drag is somewhat of an understatement. After the initial burst of enthusiasm surrounding the arrival of Mohammed Kudus (which was an inspired purchase, judging by his initial excellent contributions), it’s all become rather lukewarm.
Tottenham are said to be in talks to sign Savinho, but Manchester City have made it clear they won’t accept offers in the €50–60M range. If Spurs get the deal done, Guardiola’s side will then immediately turn their focus to Rodrygo.
Tottenham made initial contact with Rodrygo’s camp after Heung-min Son’s MLS move, but their priority is widely reported as the Brazilian, Savinho.
Thomas Frank is thought to see Eze as a direct replacement for Son Heung-min, on the basis that he is versatile, dynamic, and ready to slot straight into the Lilywhite starting XI. Again, based specifically upon the Burnley game, Kudus brings a very different offering to the South Korean.
According to multiple sources discussing the matter with TheBoyHotspur, Tottenham aren’t keen to pay the full clause, but are understood to be preparing a “competitive offer”, according to one source. Tottenham supposedly believe £55m is a fairer valuation for the England international. The ambition at Spurs is to now get the deal done, ideally this week.
Multiple sources, including transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, report that Eze has informed Crystal Palace of his desire to join Tottenham. This player-driven push significantly boosts the likelihood of a transfer, as Eze is reportedly “very keen” on the move.
Spurs are thought to be in direct talks with Crystal Palace, with chairman Daniel Levy engaging with Palace’s Steve Parish. Spurs have reportedly offered £55 million plus £5 million in add-ons, though Palace’s asking price is around £68 million. So yet again, it is suspected that Levy has NOT stepped back from transfer deals.
Whatever transpires, Daniel Levy needs to drop the ‘playing it cool’ act and crack on before Frank becomes yet another Spurs gaffer that wasn’t properly backed.
