Tottenham locked in Yves Bissouma impasse as transfer disagreement emerges after talks - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Yves Bissouma and the Tottenham hierarchy appear to have reached a stalemate regarding his future.

The midfielder has been an inconsistent performer for the Lilywhites since his move from Brighton three years ago, and he has been heavily linked with an exit this summer.

Bissouma agreed on personal terms to leave Spurs, but the possibility of a move to Galatasaray fell through in the final stages of the transfer window.

The 29-year-old is currently nursing an injury and has yet to feature in competitive action under Thomas Frank, and his future is now creating yet more issues in N17.

Tottenham won’t let Yves Bissouma join Premier League team

Bissouma has been determined to resurrect his Tottenham career in the coming months, with his contract due to expire at the end of the current campaign.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Mali international was consistently linked with a move throughout the summer, with clubs in both the Premier League and abroad showing an interest in taking him off Frank’s hands.

However, no deal ever materialised, and that has left Tottenham with a serious conundrum regarding his future.

Bissouma has now made it clear to the Lilywhites that he wants to stay in England and will play for “any Premier League team,” according to Africa Foot.

The North Londoners are refusing to entertain this demand and have no interest in selling the star to a team in the same division.

Newcastle, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Chelsea were all understood to have made offers for Bissouma over the summer.

Talks between the midfielder and the club are now said to have reached an “impasse,” with a swift move in January now looking like a distinct possibility for Bissouma.

Spurs need to sell Yves Bissouma any way that they can

Bissouma has been a poor influence at Tottenham in recent months, with his persistent lateness proving to be an issue for the new boss.

Frank left him out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup final as a result, and it has already become clear that the former Brighton man is not part of his plans in any way.

When you then consider that Bissouma will walk away for nothing at the end of the season, it surely makes sense for Spurs to give in to his demands and sell him to anyone who will pay them a fee.

He is ultimately unlikely to be the sort of player who could come back to haunt the Lilywhites later down the line, so there should be little risk in sending him elsewhere in the Premier League.

Bissouma is a problem that Spurs have to solve in the coming months, and it may be that they have to swallow their pride and give him what he wants.

Tottenham to seal ‘difficult’ stadium naming rights deal after Daniel Levy departure

Tottenham to seal ‘difficult’ stadium naming rights deal after Daniel Levy departure - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Daniel Levy’s departure could open the floodgates for Tottenham to explore a wealth of new opportunities in the coming years.

The 63-year-old finally departed the N17 outfit after 25 years at the helm at the end of last week, and several changes have already followed in the wake of his decision to step down.

ENIC are adamant that they don’t want to sell Tottenham as of right now, but that situation could easily change in the weeks that lie ahead.

Levy turned the Lilywhites into one of the Premier League’s most profitable clubs during his tenure, but they could be about to reach another level after his exit.

This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham to agree stadium naming rights deal with Daniel Levy gone

Levy had a reputation for hindering Tottenham with his uncompromising style when it came to negotiating, and with that now out of the equation, Spurs could get deals done a lot quicker.

This often resulted in difficulties when it came to agreeing on big-money transfers, but it was also an issue that was prevalent in some even bigger deals as well.

The North Londoners have been trying to secure a naming rights deal for their Tottenham Hotspur Stadium home for a significant period, but have been unable to reach a settlement so far.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that with Levy now gone, that is one of a multitude of changes that could take place in the future.

“I think Levy’s exit could open up the door for the Stadium naming rights deal that has eluded Tottenham since he came in,” Wenham said.

“He paid Todd Kline from America to agree a deal, and after three years, he moved on, having achieved nothing. I think other avenues will quickly open up, and we will see changes that maybe were difficult to achieve, happening far sooner now.”

Stadium deal could be a world-record for Spurs

Tottenham and Levy spent a sustained period of time working on a deal to secure a naming rights deal for their home, and it could transform the team’s capabilities if an agreement can be reached.

The N17 ground is undoubtedly one of European football’s finest venues, and as a result, it will take a truly seismic deal for Spurs to sign off on the name.

Earlier in the summer, it emerged that their hopes of finding a suitor could potentially result in a world-record fee being agreed for such a deal.

If the money is ultimately reinvested in the playing squad, if an agreement is reached, then it could take Tottenham into another world in terms of their spending in the next few years.

Jarred Gillett destroyed for 'guessing' over Tottenham incident vs West Ham United, he was wrong - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham eased to an emphatic 3-0 win over West Ham in Saturday’s London derby.

Quickfire goals from Pape Sarr, Lucas Bergvall and Micky van de Ven in the early stages of the second saw the Lilywhites cruise to a comfortable victory, aided by a 54th-minute red card for Tomas Soucek.

Tottenham downed West Ham to continue their bright start to the new Premier League campaign, and they already find themselves sitting second in the early-season table.

Thomas Frank’s men will have been delighted to leave E20 with all three points, but there will undoubtedly be some lingering frustration over a key moment of the game that was misinterpreted by the referee.

Jarred Gillett ‘guessed’ on Cristian Romero disallowed goal

Frank’s Tottenham side were impressive again as they heaped yet more pressure on Graham Potter and West Ham on Saturday.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The N17 outfit turned in a clinical display, but also combined that with a genuine defensive steel, as they notched their third clean sheet from four league outings so far this term.

The afternoon could have been even easier for the visitors had Cristian Romero’s 19th-minute header not been ruled out for a foul.

Referee Jarred Gillett appeared to disallow the goal due to an infringement on Kyle Walker-Peters as Mohammed Kudus’ corner travelled into the box.

However, replays then showed that the push actually came from Walker-Peters himself, who knocked himself off balance while trying to impede Romero.

Gillett has since been slammed for the call by the print edition of The Sun Goals, where former Premier League referee Mark Halsey took aim at the Australian for “guessing” and ruling out what was a “perfectly good goal.”

“If the goal was given on the field, then VAR wouldn’t have got involved and it would have stood,” Halsey wrote.

“Australian official Gillett simply guessed and got it wrong.”

West Ham win shows Tottenham credentials again

Tottenham have made an encouraging start in the Premier League in the last few weeks, and this latest victory was another sign of their improvement as a team.

The Lilywhites never really looked in any danger during what was another resolute showing from a backline that looked all at sea at times last term.

Spurs have now conceded just one goal in their opening four league games, and that steely nature at the back will be invaluable in tricky assignments like this one, which they would likely have dropped points in last season.

Some favourable fixtures lie ahead in the coming weeks, and if Tottenham can continue to show the same level of promise that we have seen so far, they could find themselves in a very handy position come November.

Tottenham got back to winning ways as they comfortably beat London rivals West Ham 3-0 on Saturday evening.

Every meeting between Tottenham and West Ham is tense, but this fixture in particular had added drama as Mohammed Kudus returned to the London Stadium for the first time since his summer move to Spurs.

Tottenham were dominant in every aspect against West Ham. Three different goal scorers, along with three points, will make Thomas Frank happy.

James Maddison had a lot to say about the refereeing Tottenham’s win – but he also had some good words to say about the derby day victory in East London.

James Maddison praises Lucas Bergvall after win over West Ham

While the pre-season injury to Maddison was devastating for Spurs, they have been able to cope without him under Frank so far, thanks to the summer signings that were brought in.

Dutch international Xavi Simons had an impressive Spurs debut, in which he got an assist.

Lucas Bergvall posted on Instagram after he scored his first Premier League goal for the North London club.

Maddison replied, saying: “Love it, mate! Brilliant today.”

Maddison was a key contributor for Tottenham last season, notching double figures in both goals and assists across all competitions. However, this term, he’s not expected to kick a ball in anger until April at the earliest.

Bergvall started many games in the second half of last season and proved to be a standout player.

The cohesion among the players at Spurs is apparent and likely had a massive impact as they won the Europa League, despite their poor league campaign.

Thomas Frank proves he is the right man to lead Tottenham

The question following Tottenham’s poor defeat against Bournemouth last time out was how they would respond, they could not have had a better response than what they displayed against West Ham.

Tottenham always have questions about their mentality and ability to win all the time, it seemed like the same old Tottenham in the Bournemouth game, but this performance shows this team can learn from mistakes and grow from them.

Last season’s losses seemed to feel inevitable before a ball was kicked, but Frank has reinvigorated both players and fans alike with a real buzz around Tottenham. This season, as the club returns to the Champions League has the chance to be a memorable one.

Tottenham made some statement signings towards the end of the transfer window, but they could soon make another.

Xavi Simons arrived at Spurs from PSG and is already up and running after delivering an assist on his debut.

Thomas Frank also has Randal Kolo Muani within his ranks, although he was an unused substitute against the Hammers.

Now, the North London club can sign a free agent after a significant announcement by the North London club.

Tottenham name Premier League squad

Tottenham have started the Premier League season in fine fettle, having recorded three wins from four.

MORE SPURS STORIES

What has been even more pleasing is the performances of the summer signings, with Joao Palhinha and Mohammed Kudus delivering valiant displays.

Indeed, the Lilyhites may be encouraged to dip into the free agent market after announcing their 23-man squad.

That is because Frank’s squad contains 23 over-21 players, meaning that there is room for two new additions.

With this in mind, Tottenham have the option to delve into the free agent market if they so please.

Are Spurs likely to sign a free agent?

The Lilywhites’ decision to leave some spaces for signings may well be strategic as they want to keep their options open.

One factor that may have played into that is injuries, as last season they suffered a remarkable number of problematic setbacks.

Indeed, Kinsky was signed to aid the crisis amid the injury to Vicario and concerns over Fraser Forster.

As it stands, Frank has a strong squad at his disposal, but their fitness will be tested as they are fighting on all fronts this campaign.

If they do suffer a similar fate this season, then they may well sign a free agent or two before January.

Description

Thomas Frank will be hoping to vindicate Tottenham’s decision to appoint him head coach this season.

Change has been the buzzword at Tottenham these past couple of months.

Daniel Levy stepped down as Spurs chairman after almost 25 years, while Tottenham appointed Adam Gardiner as their new Chief Marketing Officer shortly after.

Frank arrived in the middle of the chaos. Ange Postecoglou had just vacated his role and Spurs were trying and failing to make an impact in the transfer window. But the former Brentford boss failed to let that faze him, having a remarkable start to life in North London.

And it now seems that all his hard work thus far has paid off.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Thomas Frank has Joe Lewis family backing

The Joe Lewis family have made Tottenham’s sporting success their priority, with it understood to have played a role in Levy’s exit.

Frank became head coach at Tottenham to boost their Premier League chances after a disappointing 17th-place finish last season. So far, the Dane has done an excellent job with Spurs’ recent win over West Ham, continuing his stellar start to the season.

According to Alastair Gold in the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (13 September), Frank has said he’s received backing from the Lewis family.

Frank said: “I’ve spoken to a few from the Lewis family and Peter Charrington, the new non-executive chairman. So there’s been good, constructive conversations, and I feel the backing and they’re happy.

“Everything I sense, I’ve been told is positivity and backing.”

With the Lewis family behind him, there is a feeling that Frank can achieve great things in North London.

What is next at Tottenham?

The Lewis family are keen to focus on Spurs’ sporting success over the coming years.

It has been suggested that ousting Levy is part of a bigger strive to achieve great things on the pitch under Frank and beyond.

Spurs’ summer window has been seen by many as a step in the right direction. There remains a belief that the transfers of Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani to Tottenham are representative of the club’s aims to compete with their fellow ‘big six’ teams.

With the season still long and plenty more football left to be played, it remains to be seen whether change will be immediate. But after a stellar start, Frank seems to be the right man to reach great heights at Tottenham.

Xavi Simons’ deadline day arrival at Tottenham had fans excited to see what he can bring to their team.

Simons has been touted as a wonderkid since his time at PSG and Barcelona; he is a player destined for the top for a long time.

Despite being linked with other players for most of the summer transfer window, the arrival of Simons can prove to be a revelation for Thomas Frank’s side.

Simons impressed Tottenham fans as he made his debut in the 3-0 win against West Ham on Saturday, notching an assist in the process.

What Simons does best when going forward is clearly starting to work already at Spurs, as the Tottenham coaching staff want Simons’ creative spark to shine.

MORE SPURS STORIES

How Xavi Simons excelled against West Ham

While many of the plaudits have rightfully gone to players such as Mohammed Kudus, adding another pacey attacker to the Tottenham team will make them even more dangerous.

Like Simons on Saturday, Kudus had a massively impressive debut against Burnley in the first game of the Premier League season.

Tottenham ran rampant against West Ham with goals from Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, and Micky Van de Ven.

According to Sofascore, he managed to complete 84 per cent of his passes.

The Dutch ace also had a 0.03 xG, had 0.07 expected assists. He also completed the only dribble he attempted and won one foul.

Off the ball, Simons won three ground duels and won two aerial duels.

Simons is exactly what Tottenham needed

Simons is a player with so much potential, and considering how good Frank is at improving young players, he will be an amazing coach for the attacker to have.

The lack of midfield creativity is what stood out as the weakness for Tottenham in that game, and having a player now like Simons, who can create as an attacking midfielder.

And that’s what this team is crying out for now that James Maddison will be out for some time.

His debut shows signs of promise, even though he started out on the left, that flexibility will only allow for more ways for Tottenham to attack.

Tottenham supporters finally got to see Xavi Simons in action after his late summer switch from PSG.

Spurs romped to a 3-0 win at the London Stadium thanks to goals from Pape Matar Sarr, Micky Van de Ven, and Lucas Bergvall.

The North London side had an early goal ruled out, and James Maddison could face FA action after his reaction to the incident.

As for Simons, supporters were all in agreement after what he did against the Hammers in his full debut.

As expected, Simons was handed a start by Thomas Frank as he mixed up his starting lineup against the Hammers.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Netherlands international started on the left in place of Brennan Johnson, with Mohammed Kudus and Mathys Tel making up a front three.

Spurs’ new number seven was on corner duties and delivered a pinpoint curling ball, which was met by Sarr at the back post.

One fan on X said: “Happy with Simons’ performance as well, lovely moments from him. He just needs to up his fitness now.”

Another added: “Xavi Simons is absolutely incredible.”

However, some fans suggested that the 22-year-old could do even better if he were played more centrally.

One supporter said: “I believe he would thrive even more in a central role rather than being deployed out wide.”

Has Xavi Simons been more effective centrally during his career?

With Maddison out injured, the Lilywhites were desperate to land an attacking-midfielder and finally acquired Simons.

During his career, the 22-year-old has played more as a left-winger, although he does possess better numbers in a central role.

While his game is about more than numbers, it is clear that he has been more productive in a central role.

Frank has mixed up his side regularly so far this season, meaning he may well offer Simons a new role soon.

Tottenham have notched another three points in a 3-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League.

Tottenham’s game against West Ham was expected to produce fireworks with Mohammed Kudus returning to the London Stadium since signing for Spurs.

Kudus would’ve wanted to impress Tottenham and Thomas Frank against the Hammers. But a goal was not meant to be.

However, with goals from Lucas Bergvall, Pape Matar Sarr and Micky van den Ven, Tottenham’s Premier League hopes have edged that bit closer.

Lucas Bergvall outstanding against West Ham

Bergvall’s commitment during Tottenham training earned high praise, and it has shown on the pitch once again.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bergvall started for Spurs for the first time since Tottenham’s opening win over Burnley at the beginning of the season.

He was sensational from beginning to end, scoring a goal and notching an assist.

According to Sofascore, Bergvall attempted one shot and scored his only goal of the game. Meanwhile, he completed 88 per cent of his passes and had 100 per cent accuracy on his long balls.

He needed to prove himself after spending the last two matchdays coming from the bench, and Bergvall has done so in abundance.

Mathys Tel underwhelms against West Ham

Mathys Tel was given his first start for Tottenham since Frank ommitted him from his UEFA Champions League phase squad.

The attempted one shot before he was substituted for Wilson Odobert deep into the second half.

Other than that, the Frenchman was anonymous for the majority of the game, failing to notch a goal contribution.

After having a difficult couple of weeks in North London, this was his chance to prove to Frank that he was worthy of a starting spot. But given his performance against the Hammers, it would not be surprising to see him starting from the bench next game.

James Maddison may be sidelined with injury, but that has not stopped him speaking out about Tottenham.

Maddison ruptured his ACL for Spurs in pre-season, in what has been an injury-plagued career in North London.

Tottenham faced West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday and marched to a straightforward 3-0 victory at the London Stadium.

Now, Maddison could have landed himself in some serious trouble after the comments he made during the match.

This article contains exclusive comments from former PGMOL general manager Keith Hackett.

James Maddison could face FA action after Tottenham comments

While Maddison continues his recovery from injury at Spurs, he watched events unfold at the London Stadium.

In the early stages of the game, the Lilywhites thought that they had taken the lead through Cristian Romero.

However, the referee ruled out the goal after some pushing and shoving involving Micky Van de Ven in the box.

Indeed, it was a contentious decision, and Maddison slammed Premier League referees and VAR for “an absolute shocker” of a start to the season in an X post on 13 September.

Now, ex-FIFA official Hackett has explained what action he thinks will be taken against the Englishman while speaking exclusively to Tottenham News.

“I hope that we never stop players from expressing their opinion. I agree with his view that the season has not started well for match officials.

“I expect Maddison to be charged. The FA are clearly monitoring comments made on social media throughout all levels of the game.”

When have the FA taken action over social media posts?

In 2024, the FA gave Nottingham Forest a fine of £750,000 for a social media post about VAR and referee bias.

The East Midlands club posted on social media after their match with Everton and complained about the number of poor decisions made.

After this, the FA charged them for implying that there was any sort of bias under FA rule E3.1.

Forest argued that the fine was inappropriate and appealed against it, although their appeal was dismissed.

Now, Maddison must wait and see if he receives a similar punishment from the FA.
